Rafael Ribeiro / CBFCredits: Palmeiras and Vasco go after the ***** le
It's time to find out who will be the 2026 Brazilian U-20 champion. Palmeiras and Vasco face off this Friday (4), at 7 p.m. (Brasília time), at Nubank Parque, in São Paulo (SP), for the second and decisive leg of the final. After a 1-0 win in the first match at São Januário (look back here), in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Verdão takes the field with the advantage in the ***** le race.
Palmeiras' winning goal in the first game was scored by Erick Belé late in the first half. As a result, a draw is enough to secure the trophy for Verdão. If Vasco manage to win by a one-goal margin and level the aggregate score, the champion will be decided on penalties.
The advantage, however, does not mean peace of mind. Vasco showed in the first match that they can trouble their opponent and will now have 90 minutes to try to change the course of the final. The Rio side have reached the final for the first time in the history of the Brazilian U-20 Championship and need to win away from home to take the trophy back to São Januário.

Coach Carlo Ancelotti explained that Brazil will need “mind, heart, and a clear idea” for the clash against **** an in the Round of 32 of the World Cup. Successful in knockout competitions with major European clubs, he pointed out the unpredictability of a match in this context and stressed that the national team is prepared and confident.
“For tomorrow’s match (Monday), we need many things: mind, heart, a clear idea. We have to be prepared for everything that can happen in a knockout tie, and in a knockout tie many things can happen. The team is prepared, motivated, confident, and has done well in the last two matches. The team is ready for anything that can happen,” he said again at a press conference this Monday (28), on the eve of the match.
Ancelotti highlighted the importance of having a squad full of experienced players with World Cup pedigree — of the 26 called up, 15 have already played in at least one World Cup.
“This isn’t a knockout tie, it’s a knockout, nothing more. There is no second leg. Brazil is fortunate to have many experienced players in this regard. In terms of experience, the team is very strong, and the players know how to prepare for a game like this. In that respect, I’m very confident,” he said.

Carlo Ancelotti praised the performances of Vinicius Jr. and Matheus Cunha in the 3-0 win over Haiti in the second round of the World Cup at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. After the result secured on Friday night (19), the Brazil national team coach explained his decision to start Cunha, while also emphasizing Vini’s good form.
“I think that for this game Matheus Cunha’s position was a good one to create problems for the defense. He also filtered passes very well and moved into position really well. He can be an option. I don’t want a clear identity, because in the next game we may change,” the coach said about the player from Paraíba, who scored two of the team’s three goals in the match.
“He came into the World Cup well, in excellent condition. We don’t expect it to be Vinícius’s World Cup, we expect it to be Brazil’s World Cup,” he stressed.

Right-back Danilo praised the Brazilian National Team’s organization for the World Cup, spoke highly of Endrick’s quality and talent, and looked ahead to the match against Haiti in the second round of the competition.
In a press conference held this Wednesday (17) at The Ridge hotel in New Jersey, United States, he praised the structure provided by the federation for the tournament.
“I have to acknowledge that the work of the people who took over the CBF has brought greater peace of mind with things players shouldn’t have to deal with. Today there is planning and organization that is among the best I’ve ever had here. It will bring short-term benefits in this World Cup. In the medium and long term, it will help create an identity with the players coming up through the youth ranks. I truly believe we will have a beautiful World Cup, but this direction will bear good fruit in the medium term, and we have to be resilient enough to wait for the processes, which is not always easy,” he said.
