Bear markets are a normal part of investing in the stock market. **** ody knows when the next one will arrive, but it will eventually arrive with 100% certainty. The time to prepare is before you face the fear that comes with big market downturns. That's why you should consider owning companies like Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ), Medtronic (NYSE: MDT), Coca-Cola (NYSE: KO), and Procter & Gamble (NYSE: PG).
But there are two pieces to the story here. First, they all operate in economically resilient industries. Second, they all have incredible dividend track records. Here's a quick look at each one.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
To be fair, you may not be happy about paying for healthcare, since it can be expensive. But you will still pay for it because, in the most extreme cases, it can be the difference between life and death. In less extreme cases, the difference is between a better and worse quality of life, and you'll still probably pay up. The risk of not paying simply isn't worth it.
Johnson & Johnson is a good choice if you are worried about a bear market and are looking for a safe-haven investment. It is a major player in both the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors, providing diversification. It is a Dividend King, having rewarded shareholders with more than 50 consecutive annual dividend increases. And while its yield isn't exactly huge at 2%, it is roughly twice what you'd collect from an S&P 500 index (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC) fund. J&J isn't exactly an exciting company, but it is a reliable one.

Gameweek 8 is behind us, and it's time for Fantasy Premier League managers to make their next moves. With another deadline approaching, the transfer market is already heating up, and several players are attracting serious attention ahead of Gameweek 9.
Injuries have also complicated matters. Bukayo Saka, João Pedro, and Dominik Szoboszlai are among the players managers are moving away from, leaving many FPL teams with decisions to make. Fortunately, there are several promising alternatives, including in-form attackers, reliable midfield options, and defenders with appealing upcoming fixtures.
But which players are actually worth bringing into your squad?
Let's consider five players worth bringing into your team for Gameweek 9.

Rockets predicted to trade for $112M defensive menace, reliable shooter to pair with Kevin Durant originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Houston Rockets disappointed themselves and their fans last season after getting bounced in the first round of the playoffs against the Los Angeles Lakers. This season, the Rockets have come in with a goal in mind: to be the best team possible.
Houston has started the season 5-0, exceeding expectations. In fact, the Rockets have done this while Kevin Durant is still trying to get going.
"The Houston Rockets are 5-0, and the vibes are about as high as they've ever been during Kevin Durant's time with the franchise. The Rockets have outscored their opponents by 71 points through the first five games of the season, and during their dominant start, Durant has been Houston's No. 1 hype man on the bench, Fred VanVleet had his best game in two years," The Athletic's William Guillory wrote.
The biggest thing the Rockets needed heading into the offseason was shooting.

Seattle Seahawks RB Jadarian Price (chest) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 29.
SOURCE: Seahawks.com
Why it Matters: Price has a chance to return to action Monday night, but with Zach Charbonnet (knee) potentially making his debut and Emanuel Wilson and George Holani also in the mix, it is going to be hard to know which Seattle back to trust. Fantasy owners with more reliable options should probably shy away from the Seattle backfield until a pecking order becomes better established.

Dallas Cowboys WR Ryan Flournoy caught seven passes for 40 yards and a touchdown in Week 6 against the Green Bay Packers. He was targeted nine times.
SOURCE: USA TODAY
Why It Matters: Although he's well behind CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, Flournoy has quietly become a bigger part of the passing game than Jake Ferguson. On Sunday night, he finished third on the team in targets, second on the team in receptions, and he had the only receiving touchdown. He's not a reliable fantasy option just yet, but Flournoy has put his name into the WR5 conversation for those in larger leagues.

Suns' Oso Ighodaro agrees to $29 million contract extension before 2026-27 season appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Phoenix Suns have locked up a homegrown big man at a price that could age very well. Oso Ighodaro has agreed to a three-year, $29 million contract extension that runs through the 2030-31 season, his agent Erika Ruiz of Primera Sports told ESPN's Shams Charania.
The deal came together a day before Monday's deadline for rookie-scale and second-round extensions.
Charania added that the Suns are picking up Ighodaro's $2.5 million team option for 2027-28, so the extension starts in 2028 and runs through 2031 for a second-round find who has established himself as a reliable center. Ighodaro is now signed further out than any other player on the roster, including Devin Booker.

Buying when Realty Income joined the Dividend Aristocrats in 2020 at $54.21 left investors with just 0.07% total return after six years, as dividends failed to offset share price decline.
Prestige-driven entries consistently underperformed, while the best recent result came after shares already fell, with the 2024 Spirit Realty entry returning 13%.

Google and Constellation Energy announced a 20-year power purchase agreement on Tuesday to bring 890 megawatts of new nuclear capacity onto the PJM Interconnection grid, with Constellation committing more than $4.3 billion to fund the build-out.
The capacity will be generated through turbine, steam generator, and digital control system upgrades at 11 Constellation nuclear units in Illinois, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, the companies said. The first uprate is expected to be delivered by 2028. The agreement is expected to sustain roughly 4,400 existing jobs and create approximately 7,200 new construction jobs during the building period.
Alongside the power purchase agreement, the companies entered into a separate 15-year energy supply agreement covering an additional 2,700 megawatts from Constellation's existing fleet in the PJM market, the company said.
"We're committed to meeting our growth responsibly by actively investing in clean, reliable power that brings new capacity to our nation's grids," Amanda Peterson Corio, global head of energy and power at Google, said in a statement. "Our agreement with Constellation to fund nuclear reactor uprates will strengthen the PJM grid, which serves 67 million people, all while protecting energy affordability and supporting local union jobs."
Joe Dominguez, chairman, president and CEO of Constellation, said in a statement that the collaboration "can serve as a model for how technology companies and the energy industry can work together to responsibly develop the digital economy."

Investors love dividend stocks because they provide dependable passive income streams and an excellent opportunity for solid total return. Total return includes interest, capital gains, dividends, and distributions realized over time. In other words, the total return on an investment or portfolio consists of income and stock appreciation. At 24/7 Wall St., we have focused on dividend stocks for 20 years because, despite the stock market's ups and downs, many people need reliable passive income streams to supplement their income from employment or other sources such as Social Security and pensions.

One of the secrets of Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRKA) (NYSE: BRKB) and its success in the stock market has been its focus on value. Whether led by former Chief Executive Officer Warren Buffett or its current leader, Greg Abel, Berkshire has always focused on buying stocks when they are significantly below their intrinsic value.
On top of that, Berkshire's management team has sought companies that have significant advantages over their competitors -- an economic moat -- operating in a mature industry with reliable cash flow.

Many investors may scoff at stocks that have high yields, out of fear that they simply are too good to be true, and that a cut could be due. But that isn't always the case. In fact, there can be low and modest-yielding stocks that can be riskier. Yield is not always indicative of risk.

Dakota Johnson's shoe style has a few reliable tells. On the red carpet, the actress regularly comes back to barely-there strappy sandals, a choice that also happens to leave her "Look At The Moon" foot tattoo in full view. She has worn versions from Saint Laurent and Gucci over the years, including black sandals with her slinky Gucci dress for the 2025 "Materialists" premiere.
Off duty, Johnson is just as committed to the eternal cool-girl ballet flat. In 2026, she repeatedly stepped out in Phoebe Philo's gathered leather flats, then worked Khaite's high-vamp Jane flats into her "Verity" press tour wardrobe.

Toward the end of the lightning round on September 17, a caller asked for Mad Money's host Jim Cramer's thoughts on Iron Mountain Incorporated (NYSE:IRM), and he replied:
It's been an incredible stock. It's a real estate investment trust, basically. And you know, we know that they shred, 3% yield, down 20 points from its high. I think it's a buy.
Iron Mountain Incorporated (NYSE:IRM) operates a highly durable business model centered on physical records management, secure document destruction, and expanding digital infrastructure. In Q2, total revenue reached $2.03 billion, representing an 18.7% increase year-over-year and 16.8% organic growth. The core physical storage business provides reliable cash flow, with storage rental revenue expanding 11.5% year-over-year excluding foreign-exchange effects across a global customer base of 240,000. Adjusted funds from operations grew 17% to $432.7 million, or $1.44 per share.
At the same time, management has channeled capital into scaling higher-growth segments, including digital solutions, ***** et lifecycle management, and data center operations. The data center segment posted 39% revenue growth during the second quarter, securing 110 megawatts in new leases through July and increasing power capacity across major enterprise markets. Operating as a real estate investment trust, the company maintains a quarterly dividend of $0.864 per share, offering shareholders a forward yield of over 3%.
On the other hand, Iron Mountain Incorporated (NYSE:IRM) faces risks inherent to capital-intensive real estate infrastructure expansion. Rapid buildouts of data center power capacity demand substantial capital expenditure, leading to elevated leverage across the balance sheet. Long-term debt, net of the current portion, reached approximately $17.1 billion at the end of the second quarter, increasing sensitivity to interest rate fluctuations and refinancing costs.

Bloom Energy Corporation (NYSE:BE) garnered significant investor attention after it unveiled a new 800V DC-native fuel-cell power architecture on September 16, designed to supply continuous direct current to the next generation of AI data centers.
These solid-oxide fuel cells can generate continuous 800V DC power natively, rather than producing AC power that then has to be converted into DC that AI computing equipment ultimately consumes. This potentially removes several conversion stages, such as transformers and switchgear, thus lowering capital cost and energy losses.
Bloom claims that its technology can cut non-compute capital expenditures for a 1 GW data center by $3.6 billion, or 27%, and lower five-year total cost of ownership by $5.5 billion, or 9%, compared to traditional AC-based infrastructure.
With this technology, Bloom Energy is targeting one of the biggest bottlenecks in the ongoing AI boom – securing large amounts of reliable power quickly and economically. If 800V DC becomes widely adopted across AI data centers, the company will benefit not only from the soaring power demand, but also from a broader shift in how that power is generated and delivered.
Bloom Energy pointed to Nvidia's planned adoption of 800V DC architecture beginning with Rubin Ultra and Kyber systems as an indication of where data center power infrastructure is heading. In its 2026 Mid-Year Data Center Power Report, Bloom claimed that data center leaders expect DC-based architectures to account for 58% of new deployments by 2030, potentially creating a significant market for technologies designed around direct-current power delivery.

NextEra Energy, Inc. (NYSE:NEE) announced on September 8 that it had secured a loan of up to $1.9 billion from the U.S. Department of Energy to support the restart of a shuttered nuclear power plant in Iowa. The Duane Arnold Energy Center ceased operations in 2020 after 45 years of service. The plant is now expected to resume operations in early 2029, pending regulatory approvals.
The federal funding is intended to help restore the facility and add reliable generation capacity as the US electricity demand soars to record levels amid the AI boom. To help meet the growing demand, President Trump is making efforts to accelerate the expansion of nuclear energy. He has signed an executive order to get 10 large conventional reactors under construction by 2030 and has also called for federal funding to support the restart of shuttered nuclear plants.
John Ketchum, Chairman, President, and CEO of NextEra Energy, commented:
"Restarting Duane Arnold is about delivering new power to meet new demand while generating billions of dollars in economic value for Iowans. Just as importantly, it shows how America can support rapid economic growth and rising electricity demand while helping keep power affordable for existing customers. By bringing new generation online to serve new demand, we can strengthen the grid, create hundreds of good-paying jobs and help ensure Iowa families and businesses are not asked to bear the costs of growth. We appreciate the Administration's leadership in advancing America's nuclear renaissance and share its commitment to an all-of-the-above energy strategy that expands supply, strengthens energy security and keeps America competitive."

JPMorgan Chase (NYSE: JPM) is the largest bank in the U.S., by far. It's a financial giant with robust consumer and commercial segments, and it's reliable in driving growth under pressure. It also pays a growing dividend that yields 1.7% at the current price, and it's a fantastic value addition to any investor's diversified portfolio.
While it's likely to become the first bank stock with a $1 trillion valuation in the near future (it currently sports a $927.5 billion market capitalization), there are smaller digital banks that are likely to grow much faster in the next two years, and probably a lot longer. SoFi Technologies (NASDAQ: SOFI) and Nu Holdings (NYSE: NU) are two of them.

Experienced investors know the advantages of buying and holding S&P 500 index funds like the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (NYSEMKT: VOO) or the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (NYSEMKT: SPY). Not only are they super simple, but statistically speaking, you're likely to get better performance from them than you are by picking individual stocks or by owning an actively managed fund.
Nevertheless, given its long-term (and often market-beating) track record, even the most disciplined of investors might have the itch to step into a stake in Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRKA) (NYSE: BRKB). But is it actually the better buy?

If you are looking for reliable high yields in the energy sector, Energy Transfer (NYSE: ET) is likely to be high up on the list of options. And Wall Street really likes the stock, with 19 of the 21 ***** ysts covering it rating it a buy or strong buy. And yet, I just can't get myself to buy it, instead owning lower-yielding Enbridge (NYSE: ENB). Here's why Energy Transfer's 6.3% yield, despite distribution coverage of 2.2x, isn't enough to get me to buy it.
Before getting to Energy Transfer, I want to highlight some facts about Enbridge, the North American pipeline giant I actually bought. For starters, Enbridge's yield is 5.8%, roughly half a percentage point lower. That's a big difference, as buying Energy Transfer would increase my income stream by nearly 9%.
Continue »
I can totally understand where a dividend investor would buy Energy Transfer for the added yield. But there's a big difference when you consider dividend history. Enbridge has increased its dividend annually for 31 consecutive years. Energy Transfer cut its distribution in 2020 during the COVID pandemic, right when most investors would probably have preferred dividend consistency. To Energy Transfer's credit, it lived up to its promise at the time to reduce leverage and return to distribution growth. In fact, the distribution is now above its level prior to the cut. And the cut was probably the right decision to make for the business.
But that distribution cut was a hit for unitholders. And it comes after another questionable situation back during the 1996 energy market downturn. At that point, Energy Transfer agreed to buy peer Williams (NYSE: WMB), but got cold feet. In an effort to scuttle the deal, Energy Transfer issued convertibles that appeared to protect insiders from a dividend cut, if one were made. The Williams deal was canceled, and the convertibles never became an issue, but it raised material trust issues for me.

The following article is a collaboration between Bisnow and business tech publication IT Brew.
It was Thanksgiving week in 2022 — a time when most employees are hard to find, let alone critical pieces of data center power infrastructure. And Kurt Bogle needed a transformer.
Bogle, then a senior regional director of critical facilities operations at NTT Global Data Centers, oversaw seven operational buildings around Chicago and Virginia and a staff of about 150 people. After a transformer failed a test, Bogle had to find a replacement and coordinate a swap with the on-site managers — all without disrupting service.
Thankfully, Bogle found a spare, but his experience illustrates the importance of systems thinkers at data centers who know how to acquire the resources necessary to maintain data centers' high uptime expectations. Given supply chain limitations and a steady build-out of data centers, such expertise is more crucial than ever — and there are signs a labor shortage is underway, threatening Big Tech's artificial intelligence ambitions and the reliable operation of mission-critical facilities.

Crane Company (NYSE:CR) announced a definitive agreement on September 14 to acquire Trillium Flow Technologies' U.S. pump business for approximately $240 million. The operations primarily serve municipal water and wastewater customers and are expected to generate approximately $115 million in full-year revenue. Closing is expected in the fourth quarter, subject to regulatory approvals and customary conditions.
The acquisition would add Floway, Wemco, Roto-Jet and WSP to Process Flow Technologies. Their installed equipment base supports service, repair, retrofit and replacement demand, giving the transaction a recurring-revenue rationale.
Crane Company (NYSE:CR) disclosed a price of approximately 14.6 times estimated 2026 adjusted EBITDA. Adjusted EBITDA is a company-defined non-GAAP measure based on earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization, with further adjustments. The announcement did not specify the target's adjustments or provide a GAAP reconciliation.
Water and wastewater systems require reliable pumping equipment throughout their operating lives. An established installed base creates opportunities to sell replacement parts, restore equipment, and upgrade performance long after the original sale.
For Crane Company (NYSE:CR), those customer relationships could make revenue less dependent on winning entirely new projects. Service capability and product familiarity may also help retain customers when equipment eventually needs replacement.

Wasatch Global Investors, an ****** et management company, released its "Long/Short Alpha Fund" Q2 2026 investor letter. The letter can be downloaded here. Small- and mid-cap growth stocks posted significant gains in Q2, led primarily by AI-related companies. The Russell 2500 Index rose 20.26%, while the Wasatch Long/Short Alpha Fund—Investor Class increased by 8.29%. However, the fund faced challenges due to the outperformance of lower-quality companies, which negatively impacted its long positions. Despite trailing the benchmark and some losses in short positions, the fund remains confident in its long portfolio's fundamentals, which have not deteriorated. Additionally, reviewing the Fund's top five holdings could help identify its best picks for 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Wasatch Long/Short Alpha Fund highlighted Bloom Energy Corporation (NYSE:BE). Bloom Energy Corporation (NYSE:BE), designs and manufactures solid-oxide fuel cell systems for clean, reliable, on-site power generation. On September 15, 2026, Bloom Energy Corporation closed at $259.35 per share. Over the past month, Bloom Energy Corporation returned 25.51%, and its shares are up 225.53% over the past year. Bloom Energy Corporation has a market capitalization of $76.39 billion, and its stock has traded within a 52-week range of $61.37 to $351.28.
Wasatch Long/Short Alpha Fund stated the following regarding Bloom Energy Corporation (NYSE:BE) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Turning to short positions, detractors from Fund performance were those stocks that rose in price. One of the largest detractors was Bloom Energy Corporation (NYSE:BE). Bloom Energy sells natural, gas-powered fuel cells that help data centers generate power on-site before the centers can connect to the electrical grid. Bloom's stock price has increased significantly in recent months, and we believe it is representative of some of the AI-related exuberance in the small cap market."
Bloom Energy Corporation (NYSE:BE) is not on our list of the 40 Most Popular Stocks Among Hedge Funds. According to our database, 116 hedge fund portfolios held Bloom Energy Corporation (NYSE:BE) at the end of the second quarter, up from 91 in the previous quarter. Answering a caller's query about The Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:PG) during the lightning round of the September 10 episode of Mad Money, Jim Cramer said:
It's a tough stock. It's a tough stock because they don't have the growth that I want. They do have the 3% yield, but that's not enough. So, I'm going to say, you know, we sold it for the club. Don't look back.
The Procter & Gamble Company's (NYSE:PG) upside relies on elite operational execution and pricing power in high-margin categories. Continuous supply chain savings and an aggressive premiumization push toward items like Tide PODS help protect profitability. Combined with strong free cash flow productivity, management returned roughly $15 billion in FY 2026 through dividends and share buybacks, ensuring a steady earnings floor despite slow top-line growth.
The primary headwind is weak top-line momentum, with organic sales flat in the second quarter as challenging consumer trends, particularly in the U.S., weighed on growth. Foreign exchange friction and cost pressures further cap near-term earnings acceleration. Additionally, while the stock offers a reliable 3% dividend yield, that income profile creates a steep opportunity cost when risk-free ******* ets and higher-growth stocks offer attractive returns. We recently discussed what Cramer thinks is the ideal valuation for a good entry point in our article, "Jim Cramer Discusses Procter & Gamble (PG) Valuation and Growth."
According to Insider Monkey's data, 83 hedge funds had a stake in The Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:PG) in Q2 compared to 78 in the prior quarter. Short percentage of the float is 1.21%, showing its status as a defensive holding rather than a short target. While the company provides exceptional balance sheet stability and reliable cash returns for defensive portfolios, its modest top-line growth trajectory and premium valuation continue to test investor patience, validating Cramer's decision to reallocate capital toward faster-moving opportunities.

Interested in Eli Lilly and Company? Here are five stocks we like better.
The healthcare sector offers options for investors of every age, combining high-growth drugmakers, defensive operators, and reliable dividend payers.
Eli Lilly suits younger investors with its obesity and diabetes drug pipeline driving growth, having gained nearly 34% since its April low.
UnitedHealth Group fits middle-aged investors with a turnaround story and rising dividend, while Johnson & Johnson's Dividend King status appeals to older, income-focused investors.
When it comes to investing, there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Strategies vary based on numerous factors, including but not limited to investors' risk tolerance, net worth, and age. When it comes to stock-picking, that last one is important.

NuScale Power Corporation (SMR) stands out as America's leading developer of small modular reactors (SMRs), building light-water nuclear systems designed to deliver reliable, carbon-free baseload power. Its core product, the NuScale Power Module, targets a wide range of applications, from traditional electricity generation to industrial decarbonization, AI data center power supply, and hydrogen production. Notably, NuScale remains the only SMR developer to secure Standard Design Approval from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, a regulatory milestone that continues to anchor its competitive positioning in the emerging advanced nuclear industry.
NuScale's stock has been anything but stable. Over the past 52 weeks, shares have traded across an enormous range, from a low of $7.21 to a high of $57.42, before settling closer to $10.81. That volatility stems from a mix of factors: heavy retail investor interest, elevated short interest fueling sharp swings in both directions, and macroeconomic shifts in interest rates that disproportionately affect capital-intensive, pre-revenue growth companies. Compared to the Russell 2000, a benchmark of diversified, largely profitable small-cap stocks, NuScale carries a significantly higher beta and downside risk, reflecting its speculative, early-stage commercialization profile.

Choosing between a clean energy innovator and a traditional oil giant reflects a core tension in today's market. Investors must decide if Bloom Energy (NYSE:BE) or Diamondback Energy (NASDAQ:FANG) is the better buy.
Bloom Energy manufactures solid oxide fuel cells that provide reliable onsite power, targeting the surging demand from artificial intelligence infrastructure. Diamondback Energy focuses on extracting oil and gas from the Permian Basin, prioritizing operational efficiency and shareholder returns. While both operate in the energy **** e, their business models, risk profiles, and valuation metrics differ significantly for 2026 investors.
Bloom Energy serves as a prominent player among renewable energy stocks, focusing on solid oxide technology for onsite electricity and hydrogen production. The company targets large-load customers in the data center, semiconductor, and industrial sectors where power reliability is critical. Key partnerships include an agreement with American Electric Power (NASDAQ:AEP) to provide up to one gigawatt of fuel cells and a financing framework worth nearly $5.0 billion with Brookfield (NYSE:BN).
In FY 2025, Bloom Energy reported revenue of approximately $2.0 billion, which represents a growth rate of roughly 37.3% compared to the prior year. Despite this robust top-line performance, the company reported a net loss of nearly $88.4 million for the same period. This loss widened from a net loss of approximately $29.2 million in FY 2024, although the net margin of negative 4.4% in FY 2025 was a significant improvement over the negative 22.7% margin seen in FY 2023.
As of its December 2025 balance sheet, Bloom Energy holds a debt-to-equity ratio of 3.9x. This ratio measures total debt against shareholder equity, indicating the company relies moderately on borrowed funds to fuel its expansion. The current ratio, which measures a company's ability to cover short-term debts with its short-term **** ets, stands at a strong 6.0x. For FY 2025, free cash flow reached close to $57.2 million, which is the cash remaining after paying for operating costs and equipment investments.
