Logan Gilbert has surfaced as a potential Seattle Mariners trade candidate this offseason as a disappointing 2026 campaign nears its end, barring a remarkable late-season playoff push.
Gilbert is approaching his final year of arbitration and remains scheduled to reach free agency after the 2027 season. MLB.com's Mark Feinsand included Gilbert among 11 intriguing offseason trade candidates Thursday, pointing to his contract situation, the Mariners' pitching depth, and the absence of a long-term extension as reasons the club may consider moving him.
"Could this be the offseason that the Mariners finally trade one of their starting pitchers? George Kirby might also be a candidate, but Gilbert is now only one year away from free agency and doesn't appear to be heading toward an extension with Seattle.
