Mike McFarland, who lent his voice to many classic anime, died Wednesday after a battle with brain cancer. He was 56.
McFarland is known to anime fans as the voice actor for "Dragon Ball Z" characters like Master Roshi and Yajirobe and the "One Piece"character Buggy the Clown. His work was impressively robust. "Mike brought so much to all of us who knew him, and to all of the anime fans that knew his work," anime streaming service Crunchyroll said in a statement regarding McFarland's death. "He was an incredible talent, a good friend to so many of us and will be sorely, sorely missed."
McFarland had diagnosed with a brain tumor several years ago. Fellow voice actors J. Michael Tatum and Brandon McInnis started a GoFundMe back in August 2025 to help McFarland pay for a live-in medical ****** istant after he underwent surgery for aggressive glioblastoma.
"Mike McFarland, my dear friend and mentor of over 20 years, is gone," Tatum posted. "A rarer, more beautiful soul this world will never know. Rest in peace, Salt. The love you created endures, but ****** ed if I know how we'll get on without you around to share it back with."

Mike McFarland, the beloved voice behind Master Roshi and Buggy the Clown in One Piece, died after a battle with brain cancer. The veteran anime performer built a career across several major English dubs and became a familiar name to generations of fans.
McFarland died Wednesday at a Dallas care facility, surrounded by friends and family. He had spent the past year battling glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer that reshaped his final months.
TMZ reported McFarland's death at 56, citing his friend Brina Palencia. Palencia had organized a GoFundMe during his health struggles. She said friends from the voiceover community gathered recently to sing songs and share stories with him.
McFarland entered the industry in the late 1990s. He voiced several Dragon Ball Z characters, including Master Roshi. He later joined Fullmetal Alchemist as Jean Havoc.
His biggest roles kept coming. McFarland became the voice of Buggy the Clown in One Piece and voiced the character from 2007 until his death. He also worked on One-Punch Man, Attack on ***** an, Tokyo Ghoul and numerous other anime projects.

On August 19, Lowe's Companies (NYSE:LOW) reported second-quarter sales of $26 billion, up 8.3% from a year earlier, even though comparable sales inched up just 0.2%. The headline number hides a split personality inside the business. Pro contractors, online shoppers and Do-It-For-Me customers kept spending, while everyday DIY homeowners pulled back hard enough that management trimmed its full-year guidance. That gap between who is still spending and who isn't is the real story in this quarter.
Pro sales grew again, and management credited small and medium-sized contractors responding to the company's digital planning tools and the MyLowe's Pro Rewards loyalty program, which lets Pros quote, plan, and manage jobs inside Lowe's own platform. Online sales jumped 15.7%, helped by expanded visualization tools and the Mylow AI agent, which has fielded more than 25 million customer and ******* ociate questions since launch.
Notably, CEO Marvin Ellison said the conversion rate for online shoppers who use Mylow runs triple that of shoppers who don't, a sign the tool is doing more than answering questions. Appliances delivered a seventh straight quarter of positive comparable sales, aided by next-day delivery in virtually every US ZIP code and a push into premium products like Traeger grills and a GE Profile refrigerator that scans groceries for an Instacart shopping list. Loyalty is compounding too: MyLowe's Rewards has crossed 30 million members who shop more often and spend more per visit than nonmembers, giving the company a growing base to sell that premium ******* ortment into even while the broader housing market stalls.
Comparable transactions fell 2.1% during the quarter, offset only by a 2.3% rise in average ticket, and management pinned the weakness on weather-sensitive and seasonal categories where DIY shoppers dominate. Executive Vice President Joe McFarland said Pro customers themselves are noticing it, describing homeowners who are "more cautious about their spending" and shifting toward smaller repair jobs instead of full remodels.
That caution pushed Lowe's to guide toward the bottom of its prior range, now targeting roughly $92 billion in sales and $12.25 in adjusted earnings per share for the full year. Margins felt it too. Adjusted operating margin slipped 62 basis points to 14%, and CFO Brandon Sink noted that an $80 million tariff refund benefit was largely wiped out by elevated fuel and transportation costs. The company's Foundation Building Materials and Artisan Design Group acquisitions add another layer of risk, since Sink flagged "softer-for-longer new home construction" pressuring demand in both segments. Inventory climbed to $17.7 billion, up $1.4 billion year over year, and adjusted debt to EBITDA sits at 3.0x against a 2.75x target management doesn't expect to hit until mid-2027. Third quarter earnings are guided to come in roughly 7% below last year's adjusted EPS.

Good morning, LSB.
The Rangers won a thriller last night over the Orioles.
Shawn McFarland details the game-saving play in the ninth inning that preserved the win.
A bases-loaded K for Eovaldi and a big homer for Pederson also key, writes Kennedi Landry.
McFarland also touches on the plan for Jordan Montgomery, who was activated yesterday after a long recovery.

Wisconsin women's basketball will enter the 2026-27 season with a reshaped roster featuring a combination of returning experience and new backcourt talent.
Iowa transfers Addie Deal and Teagan Mallegni are among the Badgers' most notable offseason additions, while Kyrah Daniels' decision to remain at Wisconsin gives the program an important source of continuity.
Deal joined Wisconsin after one season at Iowa. She was a highly regarded prospect coming out of high school and gives the Badgers another young guard with the ability to develop into a significant part of the program's future.
Her fellow Iowa transfer, Mallegni, returns to her home state after starring at McFarland High School. Mallegni's addition provides Wisconsin with another experienced perimeter option and a player already familiar with the state's basketball community.
As for Daniels, she considered her options following the 2025-26 season before deciding to return to Madison. She discussed that decision during a recent media availability featured on the Locked On Badgers show.

Good morning.
Shawn McFarland writes that the Texas Rangers played the team that perhaps sold most at the deadline and they committed five errors while nearly getting shut out in their sixth consecutive loss.
Jeff Wilson writes that there was plenty of buzz about how the Rangers would tackle the trade deadline yesterday only for them to not do much of anything at all (which also wasn't surprising).
Evan Grant notes that the big move was ditching Josh Smith to a selling Toronto for left-handed pitcher Adam Macko.
Kennedi Landry writes that Jacob deGrom could have been dealt but, thanks to a no-trade clause, he decided to stay in Texas.

Texas A&M's No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class has yet to be challenged, outside of Notre Dame, and the Texas Longhorns are making significant strides over the past month, but after five-star cornerback John Meredith reclassified to the 2026 signing class, only the Fighting Irish have a real shot at challenging the Aggies for the top spot.
Unanimously ranked No. 1 in 247Sports, Rivals, and ESPN's recruiting rankings, coach Mike Elko, who is entering his third season at the helm, also leads the nation with six five-star commitments in ESPN's rankings after securing blue-chip wide receiver Eric McFarland III in late June.
On paper, Texas A&M's future offensive and defensive lines are all but secured with five-star tackle Mark Matthews leading the way as the program's top-ranked commit, paired with fellow five-star OL Kennedy Brown, who is considered the better overall offensive line prospect, according to ESPN. Coupled with four-star tackles DeMarrion Johnson and Kaeden Scott, OL coach Adam Cushing isn't lacking NFL-level talent in the trenches.
As ESPN's Craig Haubert notes, Mike Elko's defensive background and continued role as the team's defensive play-caller have helped secure commitments from five-star Edge Zyron Forstall and four-star pass rusher Kaden McCarty just a year after former Bowling Green Edge Cashius Howell earned unanimous All-American status with an SEC-leading 11.5 sacks.
"Mike Elko is tapping into his defensive roots with the Aggies' 2027 class. Looking to reload a unit that was among the best at getting to the quarterback in 2025, five-star edge Zyron Forstall, out of IMG Academy, is not a hulking physical presence, but he has an explosive first step and plays with excellent pad level and strength at the point of attack."

Texas A&M's No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class features a nation-high six five-star commitments, led by the program's top prospect, five-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews, who is widely considered the best pass protector with the potential to become a future first-round NFL Draft selection.
Combined with fellow OL Kennedy Brown, safety Kamarui Dorsey, Edge Zyron Forstall, cornerback Raylaun Henry, and wide receiver Eric McFarland, third-year coach Mike Elko and his staff are very close to locking down the No. 1-ranked 2027 cycle.
After landing four-star linebacker Mikahi Allen, five-star running back Landen Williams-Callis, who will announce his commitment on August 1, remains the lone priority prospect, but is expected to land with the Texas Longhorns after his OV to Austin this summer. Even if the Aggies don't secure Williams-Callis's commitment, Texas A&M's 2027 running back room will be in good shape regardless.
At wide receiver, three-star Demani Warren and four-star Jayden Upshawn complement Eric McFarland's elite speed and versatility as the likely future starting slot receiver once Mario Craver departs for the NFL, and will immediately compete for a starting role in 2027 with second-year receiver Madden Williams in the slot.
Among the top-ranked wide receiver prospects in the 2027 cycle, McFarland comes in at No. 7 in MaxPreps writer Zach Poff's top-10 rankings, which is quite impressive given the site's sole dedication to covering high school prospects.

Texas A&M's first commit in the No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class recently spoke with GigEm247 insider Jackson Dipasquale this week, as four-star quarterback Jayce Johnson discussed his relationships with coach Mike Elko, new OC Holmon Wiggins, and new QB coach Joey Lynch, which were further strengthened during his official visit to College Station back in late May.
Johnson's arm talent is undeniable, and while his ability to make plays outside the pocket remains an area in need of improvement, Texas A&M's quarterback future post-Marcel Reed must include the Georgia native in order to avoid a massive drop-off at the most important position. Standing 6'4" and 200-plus pounds, Johnson has already established himself as a playmaker, but like most future college signal callers, consistency is the focus.
The Aggies' 2027 cycle also features four wide receiver commits, led by five-star Eric McFarland, while four-star Jayden Upshaw is equally intriguing given his physical play style and fearlessness making catches in the middle of the field, and combined with three-stars Demani Warren, who's 6'4", and Trey Haddad, who is a natural playmaker, Jayce Johnson will have plenty to work with under center.
After landing four-star linebacker Mikahi Allen, only five-star running back Landen Williams-Callis remains as the Aggies' final uncommitted priority prospect, who will announce his commitment on August 1.
Right now, the Texas Longhorns are the favorites to secure the blue-chip back, but Texas A&M remains a finalist, and Jayce Johnson, who, similar to four-star Edge Kaden McCarty, has been a vocal recruiter for the Aggies via social media and during nearly every interview this offseason. Johnson made his final recruiting pitch to Williams-Callis.

It's hard to argue that Texas A&M's No. 1-ranked recruiting class isn't reaching historic levels, even compared to the Aggies' 2022 recruiting cycle, which featured eight five-star commits, while the 2027 cycle is currently made up of 25 commitments and six five-star commitments, now including linebacker Kaden Henderson and wide receiver Eric McFarland.
Before Elko was hired just weeks before the conclusion of the 2023 regular season, former head coach Jimbo Fisher's six-year career was marred by on-field mediocrity, while his recruiting chops never faltered. While some worried that Elko would not be able to match Fisher's recruiting success, that concern was quickly eliminated after the New Jersey native locked down back-to-back top 10-ranked recruiting cycles.
However, nothing matches the elite high school talent in the Aggies' 2027 class, as nearly every prospect possesses NFL-level potential, and given Elko's background as one of the top developers after a record 10 players were selected in the 2026 NFL Draft, more than half of the program's commits are expected to compete for starting jobs by their first or second seasons.
This week, Rivals named Texas A&M one of seven "recruiting winners" this summer, as writer Hunter Shelton laid out every reason the Aggies continue to dominate the cycle, starting with Elko's strategic approach to loading up at every position, especially along the offensive line.
"It’s only right to start with the team that continues to sit atop the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Texas A&M has been red-hot on the trail all cycle long and Mike Elko’s staff has continued to build a landmark class this summer.

On Wednesday, one of Texas A&M's priority prospects in the 2027 recruiting class, five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson, will announce his commitment just days after the Aggies landed key commitments from rising three-star wide receiver Damani Warren and five-star wideout Eric McFarland, who committed to A&M on Sunday afternoon.
While the Aggies have led with Dobson for quite some time, a recent report and official prediction have given South Carolina the edge, which isn't shocking in today's NIL-driven recruiting age that gives nearly any Power Four program a chance during the final 24 hours of a prospect's commitment decision. Still, no one can count out Texas A&M going into Wednesday, similar to landing five-star linebacker Kaden Henderson after he received a prediction to commit to Notre Dame.
Even if Dobson commits to South Carolina on Wednesday, you can be sure that coach Mike Elko and cornerbacks coach Bryant Gross-Armiento will continue to pursue the five-star defensive back heading into the 2026 season up until Early Signing Day in December.
Another name to watch in the coming weeks is 2027 four-star linebacker Mikahi Allen, who, according to AggieYell insider Jaxson Callaway, continued to trend towards committing to Texas A&M ahead of his July 11 commitment date. While Syracuse has made headway with the New Jersey native, the Aggies continue to hold the lead.
"At the moment, it’s hard not to like where Texas A&M stands. Syracuse has continued to prioritize Allen and has generated some momentum, but the latest buzz continues to favor the Aggies."

Texas A&M's historic recruiting haul in Florida just got a lot better.
IMG five-star wide receiver Eric McFarland, the No. 5 ranked player on the USA TODAY Florida Network top 100, committed to the Aggies on June 28.
Texas A&M now has commitments from six Florida players in the 2027 class, including four of the top five.
FRANKENSTEIN RECRUIT: Building Florida's perfect WR recruit using Top 100 prospects for 2027
McFarland joins a ridiculously talented class, that includes St. Thomas Aquinas offensive tackle Mark Matthews (No. 1), IMG edge rusher Zyron Forstall (No. 2), Jesuit linebacker Kaden Henderson (No. 4), Jones edge rusher Fred Ards III (No. 28) and West Boca safety Loia Valade (No. 62).

Texas A&M's recruiting heater in the 2027 cycle continued this weekend, starting with rising three-star wide receiver Damani Warren committing on Friday, while five-star priority wideout Eric McFarland made things official on Sunday afternoon, choosing the Aggies of Florida and Georgia, all but completing Texas A&M's future wide receiver rotation.
With McFarland now in the fold, third-year coach Mike Elko and his staff will veer their collective focus on one of the program's final priority prospects, specifically five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson, who will announce his commitment on Wednesday, July 1, and has since taken official visits with the Aggies, Michigan, and South Carolina, and while the Wolverines reportedly made headway, Texas A&M's, according to Rivals' RPM pick, remains the leader.
After losing out on five-star cornerback John Meredith, who committed to Texas just days after his official visit with the Longhorns, landing Dobson quickly became priority No. 1, and would complete the Aggies' future cornerback room with newly minted five-star cornerback Raylaun Henry, all but shutting down his recruitment.
Compared to John Meredith, who is widely considered the top man coverage cornerback in the country, Dobson's track speed and fluid athleticism are the primary reasons he is close to, or matches Meredith's ability in man coverage, and is above average in zone coverage. Here's a Rivals scouting report from Cody Bellaire.
"Technically refined corner prospect with rare top-end speed and physical build. 6-foot-1, 180-plus pounds with over a 6-foot-5 wingspan. Excellent weight distribution throughout his frame. Can run with anyone on the field. Ran 10.78 in the 100m during his sophomore track season. Explosive and fluid athlete with tremendous change of direction. Very calm footwork and patience in coverage. Does an excellent job locating the football and playing through the receiver’s hands. Needs to continue developing physicality in run support, but is extremely advanced in cover ability."

Texas A&M coach Mike Elko and his staff continue to dominate the Florida recruiting landscape after landing a massive commitment from 2027 five-star wide receiver Eric McFarland on Sunday afternoon, as the electric playmaker out of the prestigious IMG Academy in Florida chose the Aggies over the Florida Gators and Georgia, and all but completes the Aggies' future wide receiver rotation.
After landing rising three-star WR Damani Warren, who will serve as the future X receiver, while four-star commit Jayden Upshaw is expected to play at the Z receiver spot, Eric McFarland's elite speed and explosiveness in the open field make him an immediate replacement after star wideout Mario Craver likely declares for the 2027 NFL Draft.
In the 2026 cycle, Elko and new OC Holmon Wiggins signed four wide receiver commits, led by blue-chip Georgia native Aaron Gregory, who stood out this spring and will likely see the field this fall due to his size and position versatility. Looking ahead, if Texas A&M's high roster retention continues, the combination of speed, size, and playmaking skill sets at wide receiver will put the Aggies in the national **** le conversation for years to come.
Outside of a handful of seasons under former head coach Kevin Sumlin, landing and developing blue-chip wide receivers had been an ongoing issue that kept the Aggies behind the eight ball, and while average to above-average quarterback play can also be blamed, the 2026 WR room is much too talented for redshirt junior signal-caller Marcel Reed not to take the next step in development.
Looking past Marcel Reed, whoever steps in as the Aggies' next starting quarterback will have a treasure trove of elite wide receivers to work with, combined with a future offensive line littered with blue-chip talent.

There aren’t many college programs on the kind of recruiting heater Texas A&M is riding right now. Every time another school lands a major commitment and threatens to close the gap, the Aggies answer with a heavyweight pledge of their own, and the latest addition only widens the margin.
With the commitment of five-star Eric McFarland, head coach Mike Elko now holds eight top‑50 recruits in the 2027 class. Outside Aggieland, the predictable chatter has resurfaced: “Remember the Jimbo era.” But this cycle doesn’t just feel different, it’s being directly addressed by the recruits themselves, including five-star linebacker and Aggie commit Kaden Henderson.
“I know a lot of people want to think, ‘Oh, this is like the Jimbo (Fisher) class.’ I think it’s completely different. I think this is a class that’s going to stick,”
Of course, no ink has hit paper yet, and flip season hasn’t even begun. And while the Aggie staff has been elite on the trail coming off a historic season, a disappointing fall, especially with similar NIL packages in play, could complicate the finish. That bridge will be crossed when the time comes.
For now, the good guys in Maroon and White sit firmly atop the mountain. Every challenge has been met with an answer. Every push from another contender has been countered with a bigger swing. As June closes, Texas A&M is not just leading the 2027 cycle, they’re defining it.

The tight end position is always a little volatile in fantasy football year over year. Once you get past the first few elite TEs in your draft, it'll be mostly educated guesses to try to identify a player who can outperform their ADP.
Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2026 NFL season
Prior to a season-ending injury, Packers' Tucker Kraft was on pace to be one of the highest scoring tight ends in 2025. He finished with 32 catches for 489 yards and six TDs in just eight games, the TE3 in FPPG. So, how do we find lightning in a bottle in 2026?
Justin Boone was joined by Fantasy Life's Dwain McFarland to discuss what the data is telling us when it comes to identifying hidden gems at TE in your draft.
McFarland points right to FPPG as the main indicator of success based on the previous season. Touchdowns can also tell us which players may have been producing over their heads a bit. From FPPG, you can then look at the secondary stats to see who can make the jump, McFarland says.

Congrats to an 87-year-old man named Lee McFarland for making a hole-in-one—but also for taking one of the best hole-in-one photos ever.
RELATED: Wyndham Clark's crazy dream & a $900,000 penalty
McFarland made his ace at Chippewa Golf Club just outside Toledo earlier this week by knocking in a driver from 135 yards out. And did he celebrate his impressive accomplishment? Your ******* right he did. Have a look:
A beer AND a cigarette in hand by the time you pluck your golf ball out of the hole is amazing stuff. That guy was ready to rock.
And apparently, he kept up the good play as well. As you can see, Lee also shot his age.

Good morning.
Shawn McFarland writes about what we learned about the Texas Rangers over the last week which is that they continue to be unable to beat bad teams while holding up well against good teams.
MLB dot com’s John Henry writes about Wyatt Langford heating up after a forgettable first couple of months to the season.
McFarland writes that a healthy and productive Langford changes the dynamic for the Rangers and their oftentimes threatless lineup.
Jeff Wilson writes that the Rangers made it nearly half a season before a starting pitcher hit the IL, with an injury from late April finally doing Jack Leiter in.

MILWAUKEE — For the second time ever, the Kiel girls soccer team reached the state championship on June 20.
This time though it ended with a 2-0 loss to McFarland in the WIAA Division 3 ******* le game.
It was the fifth-straight trip to state for the Raiders, and second in D3.
It was an amazing season for Kiel, which entered the state championship undefeated in 26 matches before falling to McFarland.
McFarland went up 1-0 in the 25th minute when Bergen Weststrum chipped the ball from outside the box over Kiel goalkeeper Mya Langenfeld.

Texas A&M's landed its sixth five-star prospect in the 2027 recruiting class after the No. 1-ranked linebacker in the cycle, Kaden Henderson, announced his commitment on the Pat McAfee Show, choosing the Aggies over Notre Dame, which came down to the final weeks, but given his strong relationship with coach Mike Elko and new linebackers coach Travis Williams, Henderson is more than content with his decison, and shut down his recruitment in the process.
With Henderson in the fold, Texas A&M has landed four commitments from Florida-based recruits ranked in the top-100 (Rivals), and the Aggies aren't slowing down, looking to land at least one more top prospect out of the Sunshine State, as five-star wide receiver Eric McFarland will announce his commitment on June 28, already receiving a prediction to land with the Aggies earlier this year.
Already landing four-star wide receiver Jayden Upshaw, who, after committing to Texas A&M, stated that Eric McFarland is the fellow wide receiver he wants to play with at the next level, which is no surprise given the five-star wideout's elite versatility as a "gadget" player, who, even at 5'8", can play all three wide receiver positions, and is one of the fastest athletes in the cycle.
Right now, after landing Kaden Henderson, I predict that Eric McFarland will be the Aggies' next commitment, followed by five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson, who is scheduled to announce his commitment on July 1. If the Aggies land McFarland, Elko and his staff should feel great about their future wide receiver rotation.

Texas A&M's No. 1-ranked recruiting class took another step towards securing the top spot after landing five-star linebacker Kaden Henderson, ranked as the No. 1 LB and No. 2-ranked prospect in Florida, and could result in the Aggies landing several priority prospects, including five-star Florida-based wide receiver Eric McFarland, who will announce his commitment on June 28.
After dominating the Georgia recruiting landscape in the 2026 signing class, Florida continues to be the bedrock for elite talent at nearly every position, and third-year coach Mike Elko isn't slowing down after landing four top 100-ranked Florida prospects, including five-star OT Mark Matthews, five-star edge Zyron Forstall, Henderson, and four-star defensive lineman Frederick Ards III.
Covering all of his bases, Mike Elko and his newly formed staff, especially **** istant head coach/running backs coach Trooper Taylor and offensive line coach Adam Cushing, have landed nearly every priority prospect on their board, and before landing Mark Matthews, the Aggies secured key commitments from five-star IOL Kennedy Brown and four-star tackles DeMarrion Johnson and Kaeden Kent.
Along the defensive line, Zyron Forstall and four-star edge Kaden McCarty, paired with defensive tackles Myels Smith and Elijah Patmon, make up a future rotation with high NFL upside, while the future secondary is all but set after blue-chip safeties Kamarui Dorsey and JayQuan Snell shut down their recruitments.
After Kaden Henderon's massive commitment announcement, Texas A&M now leads the country once again with a whopping 10 top 100-ranked commits in the 2027 cycle, per Rivals.

Davante Adams posted the lowest completion percentage of his 12-year NFL career in 2025, at 52.6%. What caused that?
Some of the problem was he and Matthew Stafford not completely gelling, but, most notable to me, it was simply Adams not completing the catch. At 33 years old, was Father Time tapping him on the shoulder? According to a study by Dwain McFarland, it could be the case.
"To appropriately understand the magnitude of age in the WR performance equation, I decided to divide production at each age (20 to 40) by their prime production. Prime production equals the average fantasy points per game for a player's best three-year stretch in their career, and player ages were rounded based on their age on Week 1 for each season.
After compiling that data across every season where a WR had at least 200 routes from 2011 to 2023, we get a clear picture of when WRs are at their peak and when they begin to decline. For the sake of simplicity, buckets were created for age groups based on performance."

It was 'Heim Time' once again!
Corey Heim, who is set to go full-time Cup racing next year with 23XI Racing, won Saturday's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Michigan International Speedway.
The 2025 NCTS champion now has 26 career wins, and three in just five starts this year.
There was just 0.065s between Heim and TRICON Toyota Kaden Honeycutt at the checkered flag.
Just ahead of the leaders was Cleetus McFarland, and Heim used his draft to help hold a charging Honeycutt back in the run to the checkered flag. Cleetus finished on the lead lap in 25th, 12 positions higher than his last Truck start.
