Exes Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack got some backlash after surprising daughter Taylor with a $150,000 BMW X5 M ahead of her 16th birthday. Now, Tarek, 45, and wife Heather El Moussa have revealed why the trio splurged on the lavish gift.
"Well, it turns out, as a father, when your daughter kicks [expletive], gets a 4.2 GPA, is MVP of the soccer team, you really want to surprise her," the HGTV star explained to E! at the Virtual Reali-Tea Awards in New York on October 6. "So, dad, stepmom, mom, we all surprised her."
"She's a good girl. She deserves it. She works really hard," added Heather, 39.
"She's the best kid. She didn't ask for it. We gave it to her. There's a big difference," Tarek continued, as the Selling Sunset star said the teen was "very grateful" and "cried" upon receiving the pricey present.

On her wedding day in 2018, Meghan Markle turned heads wearing Queen Mary's iconic Diamond Bandeau tiara. However, as the world watched her marry Prince Harry, the glittering heirloom was already at the centre of a behind-the-scenes row.
In the run-up to the ceremony at St George's Chapel in Windsor, the tiara caused a clash between the Prince, his bride, and his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, with recollections varying about the dispute.
There were different versions about the dispute (@ Getty Images)
Royal author Robert Hardman detailed the row in his new book, Queen Elizabeth II: In Private. In Public. The Inside Story, serialised in the Daily Mail in April 2026. He gave new details about the clash, claiming that tensions began when the late Queen hoped to "bond" with Meghan by offering her a tiara from her royal collection – only for the bride-to-be to show up with Prince Harry.
Hardman writes: "Another pre-wedding row, which would continue to create headlines years after the wedding, concerned Meghan's choice of tiara. The Queen much enjoyed offering a piece from her own tiara collection to a royal bride, when required."

Despite the S&P 500's (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC) 13.3% gain thus far in 2026, there's still plenty bubbling beneath the surface that could trigger a sharp and sudden market crash. Stubborn inflation, the U.S. national debt sitting above $40 trillion, and fears of an artificial intelligence bubble are just a few concerns.
As one of the most successful investors of all time, Warren Buffett has some sage advice. It's found in the 1996 Berkshire Hathaway shareholder letter, which offered one of the top strategies for handling a market crash. The good news is that it can be followed before a crash even starts.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
It's easy to feel panicked when the market starts tumbling, and making any kind of move, even if it's a knee-jerk reaction, can initially feel better than making no move at all. While that small voice whispering to "sell" may never go away during the initial waves of a market crash, it can be countered by being prepared in advance.
Buffett shared exactly how to counter it. In Berkshire's 1996 shareholder letter, he said, "If you aren't willing to own a stock for ten years, don't even think about owning it for ten minutes."

In January, then-CEO Tim Cook said that there were more than 2.5 billion active Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) devices around the world. During the most recent fiscal quarter (the third quarter, ended June 27), the business exceeded 1.5 billion paid subscriptions to its family of services. These two data points demonstrate how dominant the consumer tech juggernaut has become.

Over the past decade, Apple shares have produced a total return of 1,190% (as of Oct. 5). This gain would've turned a starting $10,000 investment into more than $129,000 today.
In October 2016, Apple was the world's most valuable enterprise. While its market capitalization has ballooned to $4.9 trillion, it has given up the top spot to Nvidia.

Amcor plc (NYSE:AMCR) isn't a flashy business. Most people probably don't know much about the company, even though they come across its products every day. The company makes the packaging used for food, drinks, healthcare products, beauty products, and plenty of other everyday items.
That gives the company an interesting quality from an investment perspective. Consumers may cut back on certain purchases when the economy gets tougher, but they still need to buy food, medicine, and other basic products. About 60% of Amcor's markets are tied to nutrition, while health, beauty, and wellness make up another 25%. Billionaires are gravitating towards another packaging company, and that has also returned nearly 20% in the past year. Find here.
The company's size is another advantage. Amcor operates across a large global manufacturing network and has relationships with major customers that have been built over many years. It also offers a wide range of packaging formats and materials. For a large multinational customer, being able to deal with one supplier across multiple markets can be a meaningful advantage. The Berry Global acquisition has made Amcor even larger, although it also brought more debt onto the balance sheet.
Amcor plc (NYSE:AMCR) pays $0.65 per share every quarter, giving investors an annual dividend of $2.60. At the October 7 closing price of $41.26, that works out to a yield of about 6.3%. That's a big yield for a company selling products that are tied to everyday consumption. However, a high yield doesn't automatically make a dividend attractive. What matters is whether the business can actually afford to keep paying it. Amcor's latest numbers offer some comfort. Its steady dividend growth is one reason the stock remains popular with income-focused investors.
The company generated $1.303 billion in free cash flow during fiscal 2026, while adjusted diluted EPS came in at $4.02, up 13% from the previous year. Amcor also increased its annual dividend to $2.60. On an adjusted earnings basis, the payout ratio is around 65%. That's not unusual for a mature company and doesn't immediately raise a red flag.

Pfizer (NYSE: PFE) is offering a dividend yield of roughly 6% today. That is well above the roughly 1% yield on offer from the S&P 500 index (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC) and the 1.4% average yield of pharmaceutical stocks. There are good reasons for the negative view of Pfizer, but investors may be ignoring the company's over 100-year history of success. Here's why you may want to consider buying this out-of-favor dividend stock while others are fearful.
Pfizer's stock rocketed higher during the coronavirus pandemic, as investors myopically focused on the company's COVID vaccine. When COVID turned out to be a less serious long-term threat than originally believed, Wall Street dumped Pfizer. At this point, the stock is down more than 50% from its 2021 high. That is a big part of the story behind the high yield.

However, there's another piece that is more fundamental to the pharmaceutical industry. Like all drug makers, Pfizer's drugs receive time-limited patent protections. When patents expire, generic versions of the medications can be produced. That generally leads to a dramatic decline in revenue from Pfizer's drugs. Right now, Pfizer is facing down some notable patent expirations. This is a completely normal dynamic in the pharmaceutical sector.
Patent expirations are why drug companies are always on the lookout for new drugs. The problem is that patent expirations follow a set schedule, but drug development does not. Pfizer's drug pipeline isn't producing major new drugs right now, and it looks like it may have to work through a period in which new drugs won't fully offset revenue lost to patent expirations. This isn't uncommon, either, but investors are likely focusing on the short term rather than the long term when it comes to Pfizer.

This has been a history-packed year for Wall Street. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJINDICES:^DJI), S&P 500 (SNPINDEX:^GSPC), and Nasdaq Composite (NASDAQINDEX:^IXIC) have all catapulted to several new highs, and Fed Chair Kevin Warsh was sworn in as only the 17th head of the Fed on May 22.
But the most game-changing event of them all might be Warsh and the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) kicking off only the fourth interest rate-hiking cycle of the 21st century on Sept. 16. Fed Chair Warsh and 11 other FOMC colleagues voted unanimously (12-0) to raise the federal funds target rate by 25 basis points to 3.75%-4.00%.

Ukraine on Thursday accused Russia of deliberately targeting civilians after 30 people were killed when two buses were blown up in the frontline city of Kramatorsk, in one of the deadliest single attacks for weeks.
Photos posted by local authorities showed the burnt-out metal shell of the vehicles, with the blurred-out images of bodies and debris strewn across the road.
Police said the buses were hit with a glide bomb.
The strikes come just a day after five children were among 22 killed when a Russian missile struck a five-storey apartment block in Pryluky, in the northern Chernigiv region.
"The Russians are deliberately targeting civilians," Donetsk Governor Vadym Filashkin said, accusing Moscow of flouting "every conceivable rule of warfare and norm of international humanitarian law".

Debra Messing is facing intense backlash over her decision to support Republican Bruce Blakeman in New York's gubernatorial race.
Messing, who has previously supported Democratic candidates including Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton, shared an Instagram statement Tuesday evening laying out her reasons for endorsing the Donald Trump-backed candidate.
"For years, my focus has been protecting choice and voting rights, passing the ERA, protecting the rights of the gay community, and keeping out children's schools safe from gun violence. I still stand by every one of those principles. That hasn't changed," Messing wrote. "What has changed is how I feel about the city and state I love dearly."
The Will & Grace star said that after voting for Governor Kathy Hochul four years ago, she had reflected on that decision ahead of the November election. "So I asked myself the question I'd encourage everyone to ask. Not: 'Which party am I supposed to vote for?' But: 'Who do I believe will actually make life better for the people I love and the place I live?'"
For Messing, that person is Blakeman. "I don't agree with him on everything, and I don't expect to," she wrote. "No candidate is perfect. But on the issues that are hurting New Yorkers right now, I believe he's the right choice. Yes, he's been endorsed by the President. That's not what my vote is about."

The S&P 500 (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC) has spent most of 2026 at or near record highs. While that's been good news for anyone invested in the index, a problem is developing beneath the surface.
As of Oct. 5, the S&P 500 was trading at less than 1% below its all-time high, yet only 42% of its components were trading above their 200-day moving average. According to Dow Jones Market Data, the last time the S&P 500 was within 1% of a record high while more than half of its stocks traded below their 200-day moving averages was March 2000.

You've probably heard the cliché "it takes money to make money." And there's some truth to the premise. In the business world, you'll usually need at least a little seed capital to start.
If you're an investor with average income, however, you might be surprised how easily you could become a millionaire. And not from brilliantly lucky stock-picking, either; attempting to outperform the overall market can undermine your performance, in fact. The key, rather, is making disciplined contributions to the cause -- no matter how seemingly modest -- even when you don't want to make them. That's often when sticking with your plan helps the most.

And $500 per month would do the trick, given enough time. Here's how, and why.
There's no denying that in the economic environment of 2026, coming up with an extra $500 per month can feel like a pretty tall order. For most households willing to buckle down on discretionary spending, though, it's possible. And if you're willing to invest that money in an S&P 500 (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC) index fund that matches the broad market's average annual gain of 10%, in 30 years you'd be sitting on a little over $1.1 million (or slightly less if you're not contributing this cash to a tax-sheltering retirement account).

Valerie Bertinelli fired back at "haters" after posting a tribute to her ex-husband, Eddie Van Halen, on the anniversary of his death.
On Tuesday, October 6, the One Day at a Time and Hot in Cleveland actress, 66, took to Instagram with a video message for followers.
"Strap in haters, let's go for a little ride," she captioned the update, alongside emojis of a hand flashing a peace sign, a white heart, and red lips.
In the video, she shook her head and pointed out, "It does not take long for me to get a lot of pushback when I post a picture of me and Ed. It used to really bother me. It does not. Not any longer because I learned a lot."
Van Halen died at 65 in 2020, following a stroke and battles with lung cancer and throat cancer. He and Bertinelli were married from 1981 to 2007; during that time they welcomed a son, Wolfgang Van Halen, 35.

Milania Giudice has changed her tone toward Mom Teresa Giudice after their heated clash at Tampa International Airport. Nearly two weeks after snapping at the RHONJ star, Milania publicly praised her mother and apologized. The public U-turn follows an uncomfortable family moment that quickly spread online. However, Milania's latest posts suggest she wants to move past the tension with Teresa.
According to Reality Blurb, Giudice shared several Instagram Story posts about Teresa on Oct. 6. One repost featured a message about appreciating how someone was raised and who raised them.
Giudice also added her own note for Teresa. "You are the best, sorry mother," she wrote. The message came after her heated clash with Teresa and her sister, Gia Giudice, at Tampa International Airport in September. She posted and later deleted a video of the tense exchange.
In the clip, Giudice repeatedly said, "This is what we do now," as she filmed her family and several law enforcement officers. Teresa responded by telling her daughter, "I love you." she then told her mother to "shut the f— up."
At the time, no one involved publicly explained what started the argument. Nevertheless, the brief video quickly drew attention from Real Housewives of New Jersey fans.

American Express (NYSE: AXP) has been a staple of Berkshire Hathaway's (NYSE: BRKA) (NYSE: BRKB) portfolio for decades -- with Warren Buffett essentially completing purchases of the stock by 1995. Buffett's hand-picked successor -- Greg Abel -- expects American Express to remain a long-term compounder and a core Berkshire holding because it's a business Berkshire understands well and trusts its management team.
American Express also features a growing dividend. It doesn't raise it every year, but even during the 2008 financial crisis, when many banks and financial services companies were slashing their payouts, American Express held its quarterly dividend steady at $0.18 per share.
Continue »
American Express has substantially increased its dividend since then. The next payment of $0.95 per share is payable on Nov. 10 to shareholders on record as of Oct. 9.
Here's how many shares of American Express you'd need to generate $1,000 in yearly dividends, and the three levers American Express pulls to reward long-term shareholders.

Heidi Klum just brought a very special plus-one to Paris Fashion Week, and the mother-daughter duo is turning heads. The supermodel, 53, stepped out with her youngest child, 16-year-old daughter Lou, for the Vivienne Westwood show. It was the teen's Fashion Week debut, and she proved that she's been taking notes from her stylish mom. The pair coordinated in chic peplum silhouettes and towering platforms.
Heidi Klum and daughter Lou coordinated in peplum looks at the Vivienne Westwood show. Lou, whose dad is singer Seal, usually stays out of the spotlight, which makes this sweet outing even more special. A video from the event shows the two posing side by side in front of a white backdrop splashed with bold orange and red brushstrokes. They look relaxed, happy, and completely in sync.
Heidi went for a glamorous all-white moment. Her ivory satin blazer features a deep plunging neckline, sculpted shoulders, and a single gold ******* on at the waist. She paired it with a matching floor-length satin skirt that skimmed the ground. The model mom finished the look with a sparkling statement necklace and her golden blonde waves styled loose and tousled.
Lou, on the other hand, brought a warm and earthy twist. The teen wore a ******* on-front, corset-style mini dress in a washed brown print. The fitted bodice features thin straps and a scooped neckline, while the flared peplum waist adds a playful touch of movement. The design is a perfect nod to Westwood's famous love for dramatic corsetry and tailoring. She accessorized with a gold bangle and let her dark, voluminous curls fall naturally around her shoulders.
The most eye-catching part of both outfits is the footwear. Lou towers in patterned platform sandals with ankle straps, done in rich brown and red tones that match her dress. Heidi's blue platform shoes peek out from beneath her skirt in a closing shot, adding a fun pop of color to her neutral outfit.

Where should you put your extra cash -- into a savings account, or invest it in the stock market? It depends on how much money you have and how long you can leave that money alone. It depends on when you need that money, if you want to keep your money safe, or make your money grow.
The stock market is not the same as a savings account. Savings accounts are mostly risk-free: Your money in the bank is typically protected by FDIC insurance. You're guaranteed to get paid a certain rate of interest on your savings.
Continue »
So what is the stock market? It might be the best wealth-builder the world has ever seen. And it's easier than ever before to invest in stocks. You can participate in the stock market with just a few dollars at a time.
Let's look at why the stock market could be a better place for your money than a savings account, and which low-cost index fund I recommend to most investors who want to build wealth in 2026 and beyond.

Verizon yields 6% versus AT&T's 5%, but AT&T slashed its dividend 47% in 2022 while Verizon has raised its payout for 20 consecutive years.
AT&T's EchoStar (SATS) spectrum purchase pushes its leverage from 2.68x toward 3.2x, delaying a return to its 2.5x target by roughly three years.
Verizon's 2026 free cash flow grows 9-10% to roughly $22B; AT&T's management says dividends and buybacks will consume essentially 100% of its FCF.

The 10-year Treasury yield recently touched its highest level in roughly two decades, north of 5.3%, per CNBC.
When the 10-year Treasury yield rises, stocks can become less attractive because investors can earn higher yields on safer bonds, and higher borrowing costs can weigh on companies and their growth. At the same time, older bonds with lower interest rates lose market value compared with newer, higher-yielding bonds.

In short, this yield is the interest rate the U.S. government pays to borrow for 10 years and is a key benchmark for global borrowing costs and economic outlook.
Here's a difference that matters. A Treasury note pays you the same coupon in year 10 that it pays you in year one. A growing dividend you can find in a stock doesn't sit still. It compounds. Buy the right business today, and the income it hands you a decade from now can be meaningfully larger than what it pays this year, on top of whatever the stock itself is worth by then.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are allegedly "wildly unhappy," but their marriage is not the biggest problem. A royal commentator recently claimed the couple was not happy during their time in California. He also stated the duo has different passions, which strain their relationship.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reportedly clash over what makes them happy (via The Daily Beast). Founder of Celebrity Intelligence, cultural commentator Dan Wakeford, told The Royalist's Tom Sykes, "The 'wildly unhappy' came not from within their relationship in their life right now. It was their life in America they were wildly unhappy about."
"They were wildly unhappy with how things had gone, and they hadn't gone how they expected. I don't think they could find—think of a way out of that. And so it's very interesting," he added.
He further said that while the return to the UK has made Harry happier, the same is not true for Meghan Markle, a Los Angeles native. He explained, "The problem with this couple is you have two people with completely different goals in life and geographical, like, homes."
Wakeford said that according to his sources, the Sussexes are "very much in love," but they conflict on what true happiness looks like for either of them. "They're not on the same page with where they're going in life, whether that's living in England or living in America, whether that is philanthropy or a glamorous Hollywood lifestyle brand," he said.

Zendaya is facing backlash after a video of her meeting France's First Lady went viral. The clip, shared by Paris Match, shows the actress staying seated while Brigitte Macron stopped by to say ******* o at the Louis Vuitton show during Paris Fashion Week. The brief moment has caught everyone's attention online, with many debating whether she should have stood up.
Zendaya's seated ******* o to Brigitte Macron leaves social media divided. The 30-year-old actress sat in the front row at Louis Vuitton's Spring/Summer 2027 show on Tuesday. The show was held in the Cour Carrée of the Louvre.
In the video shared online, Macron, 73, walks through the front row, greeting guests like Pharrell Williams and Lisa of BLACKPINK. She then pauses to speak with Zendaya. At first glance, the exchange looks warm and friendly. But upon closer look, Zendaya never rises from her seat. Reportedly, she said ******* o, told Macron it was a pleasure to meet her, and shook her hand.
The clip quickly sparked debate online. Some viewers criticized Zendaya for remaining seated, with one viral reaction saying she "gotta get up" when the First Lady says ******* o. Many viewers agreed, saying standing would have been the polite thing to do. "When the Premier Dame from France Talks to You please get up," one Instagram user wrote. Another commenter, who said she loves Zendaya, noted that American culture seems more relaxed about formalities than others.
Others came to her defense. Some fans suggested she may have been caught off guard, pointing out that the greeting was quick and unplanned. A few added that a busy front row at a fashion show isn't exactly a formal setting, and that Zendaya came across as gracious and polite throughout. Neither Zendaya nor Macron has addressed the reactions yet. For the unversed, Zendaya is a Louis Vuitton ambassador and a regular at the brand's Paris shows.

GNL paid out more in dividends than it earned in operating cash for four straight years and has already slashed its quarterly dividend from $0.53 to $0.19; PSEC's NAV fell from $6.56 to $5.71 while distributions exceeded net investment income.
IEP carries a 30% yield but posted net losses every year from 2019 through 2025 and slashed distributions from $2 to $0.50 per quarter while units dropped 66% over five years.
BEP and CWEN both rely on billions in annual financing inflows to fund distributions, with BEP's 2025 capex hitting $6.7 billion against just $1.5 billion in operating cash flow.

Before we get worried about recessions or market crashes, let's put a 10% drop in context. Going back to 1980, the S&P 500 has fallen 10% or more in roughly half of all calendar years, and a correction of that size has historically shown up about once every 12 to 18 months.
What makes a 10% decline packed into a single month unusual isn't the size of the drop, it's the speed: that kind of compressed move tends to show up during sudden shocks rather than the slower grind most corrections take. Even so, it's happened before, and the market has recovered every time.
Continue »
My goal here isn't to predict whether October brings one. It's to point to three consumer businesses whose underlying demand doesn't particularly care what the stock market does that month.
Procter & Gamble (NYSE: PG) makes Tide, Pampers, Crest, and Gillette. These products are the kind of household basics people buy again almost automatically, recession or not. That steadiness shows up in the numbers. P&G generated more than $87 billion in revenue in its 2026 fiscal year and returned over $15 billion to shareholders through dividends and buybacks.
