The Twins have officially selected the contract of top prospect Walker Jenkins, who will make his long-awaited MLB debut on Friday night at Target Field against the Chicago White Sox.
Interestingly, the corresponding roster move was to option outfielder Alan Roden back to Triple-A St. Paul. What that means, at least for now, is that Byron Buxton isn't going back to the injured list after aggravating his hip injury on Tuesday in Sacramento.
Saints reliever Woo-Suk Go was designated for **** ignment to make room for Jenkins on the Twins' 40-man roster.
Roden was one of the two players the Twins got back from the Blue Jays in last summer's already-infamous Louis Varland trade. The 26-year-old hasn't yet proven to be anything more than a "Quad-A" player. He had a .909 OPS in 33 games for St. Paul this year but has a .647 OPS with no home runs in 79 plate appearances for the 2026 Twins.
Dating back to his time with the Blue Jays, Roden has a career .915 OPS in 136 Triple-A games and a .586 OPS in 232 MLB PAs. The Twins aren't necessarily giving up on him, but it's hard to see how he fits into their future plans with Jenkins and Emmanuel Rodriguez penciled in as long-term outfield options.

It's no secret that the UConn Huskies have been the boogeyman, or monster hiding under the bed, for the Illinois men's basketball program in recent memory.
It all started back in 2024, when the Illini were amidst a magical March Madness run and ended up being tasked with facing a juggernaut Huskies team in the Elite Eight.
Things started off competitively in the game, with the score tied at 23 with two minutes to go in the first half, and both teams in the fight.
And that's when things took a turn for the worse for the Orange and Blue, as the Huskies went for the kill shot, ripping off a now-infamous 30-0 run.
Illinois ended up losing 77-52 after trailing by as many as 30 points at one point in the second half,

On Tuesday, one of the most popular golf content creators with Texas ties received massive backlash over a now-infamous commercial displaying a woman being shoved to the ground by a man after trying to pull a driver out of a golf bag. The video was yanked after igniting outrage on social media, but more consequences are on the way.
Two days later, Callaway Golf ended its relationship with Frisco-based Good Good Golf amid the ongoing fallout from the influencer brand's controversial ad. Callaway initially reposted the Good Good video on social media before pulling it from its channels. In support of efforts to prevent violence against women, Callaway announced it would donate $1 million to organizations working to prevent violence against women.
"Over the last several days, we have listened and reflected deeply on the hurt and disappointment caused by the video we reposted," read a statement from Callaway Golf on Thursday. "We heard from individuals who shared personal experiences related to violence against women, and their stories were powerful reminders that this issue touches the lives of far too many people. Unequivocally, violence against women is unacceptable and should never be trivialized, normalized, or used as entertainment."
The statement also mentions the immediate severing of their relationship with Good Good, the $1 million donation, and a refocus for their content review and approval processes going forward.

Cameron Mathison has put a fresh face on his personal life. The General Hospital star is dating Taelyr Robinson, a model, former pageant winner, and podcast host who has gradually moved from appearing alongside him online to openly celebrating their relationship.
Taelyr Robinson brings plenty to the table beyond her connection to Mathison. She won Miss Maryland USA in 2020 and competed at Miss USA that same year. Her modeling résumé includes campaigns for Target, CoverGirl, Bobbi Brown, Tarte Cosmetics, and Lilly Pulitzer. She was also a yoga instructor and co-hosts The Becoming Club, a podcast about personal development (via Soap Opera Digest).
The pair had already been spending time together before making things unmistakably official. During a June episode of The Becoming Club, Mathison revealed, "We've been talking for a while now."
He appeared on Robinson's podcast to discuss divorce, losing his mother and his home during the 2025 California wildfires. In July, they separately posted images from a Grand Canyon trip, while Mathison later appeared with her in an August 17 Instagram carousel from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
Robinson turned the romance up another notch on Mathison's 57th birthday. On August 25, she posted affectionate pictures and called him "my love," while a video showed the couple embracing and giving each other a warm kiss. Mathison reposted her tribute on Instagram Stories. Robinson also shared a now-expired Instagram clip from his car, joking about heading to the General Hospital set with the "infamous" Drew.

Former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Matt Leinart admits he blew his date with Rihanna because nerves and a lack of confidence got the better of him.
"I wasn't at my best," Matt Leinartsaid on the Dan Patrick Show. "I definitely wasn't at my best that day. We were friends, we hung out a couple times, we had a mutual circle of friends, and her ***** istant and sort of right-hand girl, still to this day I'm friends with, she grew up with one of my best friends, so that was kind of the thing. But yeah, it was a young Matt, not super confident. You thought I would have had a lot of confidence; I didn't, and yeah, so that's that."
Ask Matt Leinart about his infamous date with Rihanna, and he still can't quite believe he's talking about it. "Oh God, are we really going there?" he said.
Back in July 2025, Leinart dropped a bombshell on his podcast, Throwbacks, admitting he once took Rihanna out on a date and completely blew it. So what went wrong? According to him, it all came down to a blister on his lip that showed up on the worst possible day.

Meghan Markle's "snobbish" behavior reportedly made it tough for the Sussexes to hire and retain house staff in Montecito. As per a new report, the word about the former actress' elitist behavior spread like wildfire, to the extent that house staff kept their distance from the Sussexes. For those unversed, as per multiple outlets, the Sussexes will reportedly return to the UK by the end of the month for an extended period of time. They will reside in a private, non-royal home while retaining their Montecito and Portugal homes.
Sources attached to Page Six revealed that Meghan Markle had difficulty retaining house staff for her Montecito home due to her rude and entitled behavior. A source dished: "She had trouble hiring maids because a lot of the housekeepers in Montecito didn't want to work for them. Meghan would interview people herself and could come across as really snobbish and rude. Some of them were so offended by the way she spoke to them that word started getting around."
Another insider explained that Markle became infamous for her bad attitude to the point that all the maids knew they had to steer clear of the Sussexes. "It got to the point where people would joke that all the maids in Montecito hated them," the insider chimed in.

"The Girls Next Door" alum Holly Madison has listed her historic—and allegedly "haunted"—Hollywoodland home as a $9,500-a-month rental, just a few weeks after she opened up about why she feels unable to sell the iconic abode.
Madison, 46, has owned the storied property since 2012, snapping it up for just under $1.5 million four years after she ended her seven-year relationship with Playboy founder Hugh Hefner and moved out of his infamous mansion.
Interestingly, the reality star's own L.A. abode features a similar Tudor-inspired design as the Playboy mansion, albeit on a much smaller scale. However, it features a number of very quirky additional features that help it to stand out from the crowd.
The charming dwelling sits in a "really cute community full of fairytale homes" that the star first fell in love with while filming an episode of the Playboy-centric reality show, and it was even investigated for paranormal activity on a 2021 episode of "Ghost Adventures."
In a house tour the former Playmate shared to her personal YouTube channel in March 2026, Madison recalled the moment she first set her sights on the Beachwood Canyon neighborhood she'd one day call home as the cast was driving to Sunset Ranch to produce a horseback riding scene.

A venue Formula 1 sadly waves goodbye to after a quickfire six-year re-introduction, Zandvoort gave us one more thriller on the beach as the sport returned following the summer recess. Lando Norris kept his cool to secure a second consecutive victory, amid one massive first-lap crash for Max Verstappen and various yellow-flag windows of opportunity. Yet the host venue of the Dutch Grand Prix is also a glaring anomaly in the career of Lewis Hamilton: a circuit he has failed to win a grand prix at.
Things could have been different, mind. Four years ago, Hamilton launched into one of his most infamous tirades, later apologising after stating his Mercedes team had "f***** him" with a strategy call which saw hopes of triumph fade. On Sunday, Hamilton was more measured and nuanced with his words after finishing fourth, missing out on a podium after failing to steer his car past a valiant George Russell. But another underlying sense of 'what-could-have-been' remained.
"We're just chipping away at it," Hamilton told Sky Sports F1. "This first half of the season… we've lost three to five tenths on the straight, that's a hard deficit to overcome.
Lewis Hamilton spoke of his frustration after finishing fourth at the Dutch Grand Prix (PA Wire)
"Today was definitely frustrating for me. I'm here to win and I believe this team can win, but to win championships you have to pick up every possible point.

Before the Cleveland Browns took the field against the Buffalo Bills, most believed that Deshaun Watson was going to be named the starter for the 2026 NFL season, as soon as after the game. Shedeur Sanders was given the start in the second preseason game, but HC Todd Monken's process seemed to be leaning pretty strongly toward the veteran.
Then Cleveland looked like they no longer "belonged" playing with Buffalo; Sanders looked okay, Watson looked terrible, the veteran then had a horrible press conference, and many are wondering if his statements will impact the starting quarterback competition.
Going beyond that, the conversation has turned to Watson's infamous contract and whether the Browns can cut him. The simple answer: Yes, they can. The more complicated answer: No impact this year, but wow the devastation in 2027.
Quite simply, Cleveland owes $127 million (give or take a few dollars) on the salary cap for Watson. Nothing they do will change that. What does change things is when Watson departs the team. If the Browns cut him today, or anytime during the season, they would then have the following salary cap hits:

Hamtramck — Earning three points with a 1-0 victory over the first place Tampa Bay Rowdies on Saturday night, Aug. 22, was the perfect way for Detroit City FC to celebrate its Motor City Night.
Detroit native and Indy NXT driver Nolan Allaer was the honorary captain of DCFC for the night's theme, and Le Rouge's record when scoring the first goal improved to 9-1-0.
"It's a massive win — we've spoken about it, we've dreamt about it, and then we've done it," DCFC head coach Danny Dichio said. "We saw some really good football tonight against a very good team in Tampa — we haven't scored in two games at home, so it was important getting that goal as well."
Before the game started, the crowd added to the competitive atmosphere chanting "Come and get it," and followed that with their infamous smoke bombs.
The bombs were reactivated at the 36th minute after DCFC forward Alasanne Ates Diouf scored the first goal of the match with defender Aedan Stanley ***** isting to put it ahead before halftime.

Everyone remembers the infamous snap Anthony Richardson took to kickoff the QB competition in Baltimore. You know, the one that set Twitter on fire that night?
It's very rare that a preseason play would cause this much debate. After all, the preseason is as vanilla as it gets. But Anthony Richardson took a lot of heat, literally and figuratively, for not seeing the free runner and taking a massive shot in an exhibition game.

Most people blamed Richardson's lack of understanding of the protection, while others quietly wondered if this was a poor play design.

Well, the Colts ran it again this year.. And this time it was an interception.
Let's breakdown the play further, and why potentially it's given the Colts some trouble.
WHAT HAPPENED WHEN RICHARDSON RAN IT IN BALTIMORE?
There's a lot of philosophies to handling pressure from a defense. You can try to block it up or you can invite the pressure and throw hot no matter what. The Colts historically have gone with the former.

It's been nearly five years since his infamous Oscars slap, and Will Smith is still consumed with bitterness toward Chris Rock, a source tells the National Enquirer.
"Will has repeatedly apologized to Chris publicly and got absolutely nothing in return, which is very triggering for him," says the source. "He can't stand the fact that Chris is refusing to accept his apology and move on from this."
In the wake of SlapGate, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences handed Smith, 57, a 10-year ban, prohibiting him from attending the Oscars as well as other Academy events.
"It's incredibly hard for him to have zero control over a situation, that is something he absolutely hates," the source admits. "The fact that he's got another five and a half years to go before he can set foot in the [Academy Awards] is infuriating."

Tom Brady was not exactly backing the New England Patriots ahead of their Super Bowl clash against the Seattle Seahawks earlier this year.
Despite being former teammates with Mike Vrabel and the Patriots' greatest-ever player, Brady opted to remain neutral ahead of the game.
It was the Seahawks who secured their revenge for their infamous Super Bowl XLIX defeat against the Patriots.
However, there will be some Patriots fans who will have been left feeling slightly uncomfortable by Brady's stance ahead of the Super Bowl.
Head coach of the Patriots, Vrabel, was not one of them, though, as he shared his stance on what Brady had to say ahead of his team's Super Bowl in February.

Kim Mulkey is set to start her sixth season as the head coach of the LSU Tigers. In her second year with the team, she entered the LSU history when Angel Reese and the team won the first national championship for the first time in their history. They won the infamous 2023 final vs Iowa, which started Reese's iconic rivalry with Caitlin Clark.
Flau'jae Johnson was the last player on the team last season from the NCAA ***** le-winning squad. Mulkey now has a new set of players to lead and bring glory back to Louisiana.
LSU added some important pieces last season. One of the big names was Kate Koval, a Ukrainian international who transferred from Notre Dame for her sophomore year. Mulkey has now added a highly rated freshman, Anna Minaeva from Russia this season, whose recruitment clashed with Koval because of the political tension between the two countries. Mulkey recently shared her conversation with Koval that took place before Minaeva's recruitment.
"I want you to understand I'm not here to ask you to change how you feel about Russia. I'm just here out of respect for your family and out of respect for you to let you know. Because I know how personal it is for you," Mulkey recalled her conversation with Koval.
6-foot-5 Minaeva averaged 11.2 points and 9.6 rebounds in MBA Moscow in Russia.

Alan Dershowitz said he is still a pariah on his beloved Martha's Vineyard, and fellow island vacationer Larry David still won't speak to him.
For several years now, Dershowitz has lamented his fallen status on the island, starting around the time he acted as defense counsel in President Donald Trump's first impeachment trial. Dershowitz, a staunch Democrat for 67 years, registered as a Republican this year.
On Tuesday, The Atlantic published an interview with Dershowitz by Mark Leibovich, who spoke with the famous lawyer and professor emeritus at Harvard Law. The piece is ****** led, "Alan Dershowitz Won't Forget What Larry David Did To Him."
Until 2021, Dershowitz and the Seinfeld co-creator and Curb Your Enthusiasm creator were friends, or at least friendly with one another. But that year, there was an ugly encounter at the Chilmark General Store, which Leibovich recounted thus:
And then there was the infamous clash at the Chilmark General Store with Dershowitz's now very-much-ex-friend Larry David. In the annals of Dershowitz's social spiral on the Vineyard, this conflagration has taken on almost-mythic dimensions, like his own personal Stalingrad. Dershowitz was sitting on the porch of the store with another friend, "who happened to be a very kind of radical woke lefty from New York, but very tolerant," he told me. David was not very tolerant, at least of Dershowitz. He walked onto the porch, refused to shake Dershowitz's hand, called him "disgusting," and stormed off. Dershowitz said at the time that David was so irate, Dershowitz worried that the comedian might suffer a stroke.

MomTok's infamous soft-swinging scandal — which became the subject of Hulu's Secret Lives of Mormon Wives — is facing new scrutiny
On Aug. 14, Kenna Gibbons, who was involved in the scandal, made a new series of videos addressing her involvement and slamming former friend Taylor Frankie Paul
Paul's mom, Liann May, and ex-husband, Tate Paul, have since weighed in through a series of fiery social media messages
Taylor Frankie Paul's mother and ex-husband are publicly feuding about the infamous "soft-swinging scandal" that kicked off The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
In 2022, Paul went viral when she announced on TikTok that she and her then-husband, Tate Paul, were getting a divorce after he crossed a line in their soft-swinging arrangement. The reality star revealed at the time that she and several other members of MomTok — a group of Mormon mothers and influencers based in Utah — had an agreement where they traded partners for romantic intimacy.

One USC Trojan freshman receiver is entering the season with a ton of buzz. Ethan **** ie Feaster may be the youngest player in college football this season. He is definitely the youngest player on the Trojans' roster. He enters the season at 17 years old. That does not matter much when a receiver has the skill he possesses. The highly touted five-star freshman will suit up for the Trojans with expectations of contributing early.
As a junior in high school in 2025, he posted a stat line of 69 receptions for 1,264 yards with 15 TDs. He is a guy who can create big-time plays, and he showed that in his final high school season as he put up 18.3 yards per catch. Lincoln Riley and the Trojans offense are at their best when they can create explosive plays; that will be Feaster's best contribution to the offense. Already in camp, the freshman has done that multiple times in recent practices.
The Trojans offense will be without an explosive weapon like Makai Lemon, and a big-time outside threat in Ja'Kobi Lane. Terrell Anderson and Tanook Hines will both be productive, but I would not be surprised if a player like Feaster gets on the field and makes his presence felt quickly. He has all the makings of a difference-maker and a player who would make Jayden Maiava's life a lot easier.
Featser was named after the infamous **** ie Miles from the film Friday Night Lights, and he sure does have that same electrifying feel to him. I expect Featser to become not just the talk of the town at USC but also a name that is known across college football very soon.

Longtime NBA referee Joey Crawford, who is being inducted into the Naismith Basketball of Fame on Saturday, Aug. 15, officiated 2,561 regular-season games over 39 seasons, including a record 374 postseason games and 50 NBA Finals games. He worked in 23 consecutive NBA Finals.
Officiating with an iron fist and known for his quick whistle and quicker temper, Crawford got on the nerves of NBA players and fans, including an infamous incident in 2007 when he ejected Spurs star Tim Duncan for laughing from the bench.
Crawford was suspended indefinitely for the incident and sat out the rest of the regular season and playoffs that season.
He retired in 2016 at the age of 63.

The time has come. The NBA has officially dropped its 2026-27 regular-season schedule. As with anything in life, there are winners and losers — let's dive in.
Look, I'm a big fan of a good social media product. Russell Westbrook called it quits on a fruitful 18-year career and did so with aplomb, a beautifully crafted mini-movie highlighting all the best parts of his time in the NBA.
I'm also a fan of removing all of the pomp and circumstance and getting right to brass tacks with a schedule release, as well. And who better to do this with than Suns wing Dillon Brooks? Phoenix's social-media release was a hilarious breath of fresh air, a reminder that, yes, all 30 teams in fact do play against each other. Brooks, who looks anything but camera-ready, **** up the script, throws it at the camera and declares, "We play everyone," before staring directly at the camera in a manner similar to his trademark pregame ritual. It's obvious. It's brilliant.
I'm sure most of you are familiar with comedians/actors Keegan Michael-Key and Jordan Peele, and their old hit sketch comedy show, "Key & Peele." If not, get hip to it. For those that do remember the series, you'll immediately recall the infamous Substitute Teacher skit, featuring an enraged Key charged with taking attendance of his class. The only issue is Key is unable to **** ounce anyone's name.
Introducing the Dallas Mavericks' social-media schedule release. Adding current players Dereck Lively and Max Christie to the scene — with some of the students wearing opponent team gear — was the icing on the cake in their homage to the original. Bravo.

There was a particularly distinguished passenger on a distinctly unglamorous airline. Rodri was on the Ryanair flight to Liverpool and part of the surprise for some was that, via Merseyside, he was returning to Manchester at all. The subject of bids from Barcelona, Rodri's future may lie in his native Spain rather than at Manchester City.
It is so far unknown if he incurred Ryanair's infamous fines for bringing the World Cup's Golden Ball in hand luggage or whether he stowed it under a seat. Enzo Maresca saw the man who lifted the most prestigious trophy of all briefly and gave him a big hug, he said. They would talk later. City's new manager coached Rodri when his goal clinched the Champions League and thus the treble in 2023. Whether he will ever manage him remains to be seen; minor back surgery would always have ruled Rodri out of Sunday's Community Shield against **** nal.
Man City are open to letting Rodri return to Spain but only if it helps fund his replacement (PA)
But with Barcelona expected to return with a third offer, Maresca may have to contemplate forging an entirely new midfield. His inheritance from Pep Guardiola was an enviable one in many respects, but if he is the continuity candidate, there will be change at the centre of the pitch. Rodri has a year left on his deal but seems to have decided to go. Bernardo Silva left when his contract expired; Guardiola's own departure made it a still more natural endpoint for one of his closest allies. Tijjani Reijnders is heading for the exit, too, off to Al Qadsiah for £51m, and if the Dutchman lost his place as Guardiola preferred an axis of Rodri and Silva, it was nevertheless the case that only six players made more appearances for City last season.
Guardiola famously said that, if he could pick 11 midfielders, he would. There were times when he had a surfeit of options: in 2019-20, for instance, he had not merely Rodri and Bernardo Silva but also David Silva, Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin De Bruyne and Fernandinho.

Dana White wasn't taking any risks with Arman Tsarukyan.
On Friday, the UFC held its first press conference for next month's UFC 331 card, which takes place in Los Angeles and is headlined by a flyweight ***** le rematch between Joshua Van and Alexandre Pantoja. The co-main event for the card is a lightweight ***** le eliminator bout between Tsarukyan and Maurio Ruffy, and when it came time for Tsarukyan and Ruffy to face off after the press conference, Dana White was not about to let Tsarukyan do anything crazy.
Tsarukyan has become notorious in recent years for his tomfoolery outside of the cage, infamously headbutting Dan Hooker at their final faceoff before their fight at UFC Qatar last year. So, when the two came together for the first time and Ruffy held a fist out, White immediately intervened when Tsarukyan began to walk forward and had the two pulled apart to prevent any mishaps.
The main event faceoff was perhaps even more intense. Van and Pantoja argued throughout much of the press conference beforehand, with Pantoja even attempting to confront Van, so when the two finally came face-to-face, things got quite chippy.
UFC 331 takes place on Sep. 19 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Phoenix Mercury head coach Nate Tibbetts told reporters on Friday that veteran guard Kelsey Plum will miss the team's next game on Sunday against the Portland Fire.
Plum is expected to be re-evaluated after that game to see if she will be able to return for Phoenix's next game, which isn't until Saturday, August 22.
The veteran guard missed Phoenix's last game against the Los Angeles Sparks in what would have been a game against her former team. Plum was acquired at the 2026 WNBA trade deadline in an infamous move that saw Los Angeles pick up a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick, and guard Monique Akoa Makani.
Without Plum, the Mercury picked up the 94-87 win over the Sparks, ending a three-game losing streak.
The veteran guard didn't play in the second half of Phoenix's game against the Washington Mystics on August 9th due to "left calf tightness."

"I don't really see her movies, but I wish her well, and I know she's doing quite well. And that's all I can say is just, I wish Jodie well, and I hope she has a good life."

Amanda Knox is taking her story to a comedy stage in Edinburgh, nearly two decades after the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher thrust her into an international media frenzy.
Knox made her Edinburgh Fringe debut with her show "Cartwheel," a one-woman show that blends comedy and storytelling as she reflects on her wrongful conviction, years in an Italian prison and the challenge of explaining her past to her young daughter.
The show, which began its Edinburgh run Aug. 7, and is scheduled through Aug. 17 at Gilded Balloon, is already sold out. The show takes its name from one of the most infamous narratives to emerge during the investigation into Kercher's death, which claimed that Knox performed cartwheels at an Italian police station.
Amanda Knox: 'Twisted Tale' asks, 'in the wake of trauma, how do you rebuild your life?'
The show has reignited the controversy surrounding the 2007 murder of Kercher, with members of the British student's family criticizing Knox decision to revisit the case through comedy.
