Over the weekend, the co-founder and CEO of Anthropic published an essay where he pushed for a slowdown among the frontier AI labs in order to handle newfound security concerns. In response to that, the cybersecurity cohort just went crazy because there are the companies that can prevent AI agents from randomly hacking into networks all over the world, and it's the cybersecurity companies. These guys have been adamant that AI represented a great opportunity for their business, and now Wall Street's finally gotten the memo.
CrowdStrike Holdings, Inc.'s (NASDAQ:CRWD) second-quarter fiscal 2027 revenue increased 26% year over year to $1.47 billion, while ending annual recurring revenue rose 25% to $5.84 billion. Net new ARR reached a record $332.8 million, and free cash flow was $377.4 million. The company also raised its full-year fiscal 2027 net new ARR growth outlook to 34% at the midpoint, up 630 basis points. CEO George Kurtz said the company believes securing AI is its "largest market opportunity in our history."
Kurtz said on September 14 that AI-driven threats are already operating at machine speed, describing the emerging threat as autonomous campaigns rather than individual hackers. He identified endpoints, cloud workloads and SaaS as key battlegrounds and said "enforcement at machine speed" is needed to stop AI agents in motion. CrowdStrike has responded by expanding into AI-agent, model and infrastructure protection, including Continuous Identity for AI Agents and Falcon AI Detection and Response.

The company also remains much less profitable on a GAAP basis than its adjusted results suggest. The company reported a $33.2 million GAAP operating loss in the latest quarter against $371.6 million of non-GAAP operating income, while stock-based compensation and related employer payroll taxes totaled $399 million.

GENEVA (AP) — Human rights experts commissioned by the U.N.'s top human rights body say they have found "reasonable grounds" to believe the United States committed war crimes in two strikes in Iran, including on a school in the southern city of Minab.
The international fact-finding mission on Iran says the findings center on a pair of airstrikes that killed at least 178 civilians, including women and children.
At the start of the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran in February, at least one U.S. missile hit the Shajareh Tayyebeh school in Minab, according to an ****** ociated Press investigation. There has been no final accounting of what happened. Iranian state media have said 168 people were killed in the strike, most of them children.
"Following the United States and Israeli attacks on 28 February, the mission found reasonable grounds to believe the United States committed the war crime of launching indiscriminate attacks resulting in the loss of life or injury to civilians or damage to civilian objects," the fact-finding team said in a statement.
The Trump administration has yet to directly accept the blame or release findings of a Pentagon investigation into the school bombing.

A week after Nick Saban and Pat McAfee practically did an infomercial for the Protect College Sports Act during College GameDay, one of the bill's co-sponsors, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), was given the chance to make a full-throated defense of the bill and why it needed to be passed by the Senate and House, with Cruz previously saying that if passed, President Donald Trump would sign it into law on a future episode of ESPN's flagship college football show.
Even by the standards of College GameDay, which has been known to put its thumb on the scale when it wanted, this whole affair has been wildly inappropriate. A Dominican Summer League player in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization, Belfi Rivera, is at the heart of a deflating story that dropped on ProPublica about young baseball players in the Dominican Republic being preyed on and scammed.
Gus Garcia-Roberts, an investigative reporter who specializes in sports, released the article on Thursday, Sept. 10. Rivera is at the forefront as Garcia-Roberts exposes Santo Caraballo, whom Garcia-Roberts describes as "one of the most notorious moneylenders profiting from Dominican baseball," for receiving $950,000 of Rivera's money despite not having anything to do with Rivera's development.
That $950,000 is part of a $1.8 million deal the Diamondbacks pledged to pay him after he turned 16. Garcia-Roberts also found that these deals are made verbally, so no records can be found if a team decides they do not want to pay the kids.
MLB finds more players in the Dominican Republic than anywhere outside of the United States, so the league sees the country as a hotbed for talent. Federal regulators said the two crew members aboard the Amazon cargo jet that crashed at Miami International Airport on Sunday survived the accident.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) provided the update during a Sunday press conference after officials said the cargo plane overran the runway and caught fire while landing. The crash killed five people and injured five others, authorities said Sunday.

College football is weirder than ever. It's always been the weirdest sport in the country, and it's why there are so many crazies out there that worship the game. Now with the transfer portal, it really does make these early season games tougher to predict.
Notre Dame was a 20.5 point favorite going into the game against Wisconsin at Lambeau Field, and as the first half unravelled, fans and media alike were wondering what was happening with the Irish. Notre Dame held a 13-10 lead going into halftime and they were getting the ball first in the second half — but the struggle was so real in the first 30 minutes that it was hard to imagine this game turning into the blowout it became.
So yeah — it took a half for the Irish to find out what team they could be in week one. There have been bigger crimes in the sport over the years than a slow-bulldozer. This wasn't the coming out party for CJ Carr and the Heisman, and that needs to be okay.

Kyle Shanahan believes that the Los Angeles Rams are so pressed about playing the 49ers at SoFi Stadium that they convinced the NFL to move the game to Australia this season, and San Francisco's coach said on Sunday that it still won't matter. With the points race secured on Saturday, Sunday's American Flat Track Springfield Mile II SuperTwins race at the Illinois State Fairgrounds was simply riders racing to win.
For Davis Fisher, it was a chance to gain momentum for his 2027 campaign.
Fisher put his KTM 790 Duke motorcycle past Australia's Tom Drane by just 0.009 seconds to win the season finale, his first win since 2021.
"We had seven podiums this year, (but winning) feels great," Fisher, of Warren, Oregon, said. "Going into Springfield, the team worked as hard as they could. They knew what we had and said, 'It's up to you.'

VanDyke was dissenting from the 9th Circuit's decision not to revisit Olympus v. Armstrong, a case that saw an all-female Korean spa sue on First Amendment grounds. The business, according to the Washington State Human Rights Commission (WSHRC), had broken the law when it declined to accept a preoperative transgender woman. This was a problem for Olympus Spa, which requires nudity in its pool area, and whose business model, relatedly, hinges on catering to a single-sex clientele.
In ruling against the business last year, the 9th Circuit acknowledged the thorniness of the case. "We are not unmindful of the concerns and beliefs raised by the Spa," wrote Judge M. Margaret McKeown. "Indeed, the Spa may have other avenues to challenge the enforcement action. But whatever recourse it may have, that relief cannot come from the First Amendment."
Olympus Spa is now taking its case to the Supreme Court. McKeown and VanDyke, whose vulgar approach elicited a rebuke from 27 of his colleagues, may appear irreconcilably at odds. In some sense, they are. Yet the rival sensibilities also help paint a more complete picture of a complicated case, one that naturally provokes strong reactions but for which there may be no immediately satisfying answer under the Constitution.
The ordeal traces back to 2020. Haven Wilvich, who has identified as a "nonbinary trans woman," lodged a complaint with the WSHRC after being turned away from the Olympus Spa location in Lynnwood, Washington, for having a ****** . (The spa says it accepts postoperative transgender women.) The Washington State Law Against Discrimination (WLAD) bars discrimination based on many characteristics, including ****** ual orientation, which the state defines as encompassing "heterosexuality, ****** ****** uality, bisexuality, and gender expression or identity."

Pakistan's troubled England tour has taken another unexpected turn, with the Pakistan Cricket Board reportedly taking mobile phones belonging to members of the national team into its custody ahead of the third and final Test at Edgbaston.
According to Pakistani 365 News, the players' devices have been handed over to the PCB and will remain with the board until the conclusion of the final Test. The report did not reveal the identities of the players whose phones were taken, while the PCB has not publicly stated why the devices were placed in its custody.

The leader of Reform UK in Scotland has said a second independence referendum is "a long way off".
The Scottish government last week published its draft independence referendum bill, setting out the details of the proposed question and who would be allowed to vote.
But Malcolm Offord told BBC Radio Scotland's Mornings programme that there would need to be a "groundswell" of support for a fresh poll.
In 2014 Scotland voted against becoming an independent country by 55% to 45%.
Successive UK governments have opposed any further referendums and Downing Street recently said a new vote was "off limits".

"Animals are amazing... that's why a lot of the girls are travelling with more pets now, because of how tough the life is on the road," world number three Jessica Pegula told reporters at the U.S. Open this week.
"To have something that grounds you, as simple as having a dog or any type of animal... you don't experience that type of love from anybody else. They love you unconditionally and that can just really help emotionally."

Another "award-winning sports agronomist" with extensive experience installing pro and college surfaces, but who requested anonymity for apparent fear of Big Sod, said that it was "the worst sod I've seen in the NFL in my career. I can't even imagine how that could have happened."
Added Tony ***** , sports management professor at Baldwin Wallace University and former Cleveland Browns ***** istant head groundskeeper: "[N]atural turf is safer in a perfect setting. But if you have the situation like you have in Buffalo — and I went back and watched the film — you cannot tell me that field was safer than the artificial turf they just left. . . . The North Carolina Tar Heels will enjoy a week off after their impressive Week 0 win over TCU in Ireland last weekend. With the bye week due to the travel, UNC has an extra week off as they get ready to host East Tennessee State on September 12th.

NEW YORK (AP) — Former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife asked a judge on Wednesday to dismiss the drug trafficking indictment against them on the grounds that they have immunity as the leader and first lady of a foreign country.
In papers filed in Manhattan federal court, lawyers for Maduro said a judge was required by law to reject the indictment because it cannot be brought against a foreign leader.
"No American court has ever presided over the criminal trial of a foreign leader who was recognized by their own country as the sitting head of state at the time the charges were brought," the lawyers wrote. "That is not an accident of history. It reflects a rule older than the common law: heads of state are exempt from the criminal process of any national court but their own."
Maduro and his wife are scheduled to go on trial on drug trafficking charges next June 1. Judge Alvin K. ******* erstein has set oral arguments for Nov. 17 on motions to dismiss the indictment.

In papers filed in Manhattan federal court, lawyers for Maduro said a judge was required by law to reject the indictment because it cannot be brought against a foreign leader.
"No American court has ever presided over the criminal trial of a foreign leader who was recognized by their own country as the sitting head of state at the time the charges were brought," the lawyers wrote. "That is not an accident of history. It reflects a rule older than the common law: heads of state are exempt from the criminal process of any national court but their own."
Maduro and his wife are scheduled to go on trial on drug trafficking charges next June 1. Judge Alvin K. ******* erstein has set oral arguments for Nov. 17 on motions to dismiss the indictment.

More than a decade after first proposing the idea, the "Amazing Spider-Man" star revisited his 2013 comments in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly. Garfield said his support for a more inclusive version of the Marvel superhero has not changed.
"I just still believe that anyone can be in that suit," Garfield told the outlet while promoting his upcoming historical drama, "The Uprising," which is set to arrive in theaters Sept. 11.
Garfield said his original remarks were partly an "exercise of rebellion" but reflected a belief he continues to hold. Spider-Man's widespread appeal, he argued, comes from the character's ability to represent people across different backgrounds and identities.

However, the former Suits star apparently wasn't too keen on the idea.
"Meghan took one look at the reality and knew it wouldn't work," a Naughty But Nice source claimed. "Too remote, too far from London and, frankly, not nearly grand enough."
According to the Substack, Harry's uncle, 62, offered up The Falconry, a 17th-century lodge on his family's historic grounds that was reportedly built in the early 1600s.
