The Orioles blasted a pair of two-run homers in the first two innings against Bailey Ober to jump out to an early lead. The damage was done by Pete Alonso and Gunnar Henderson.
The Twins loaded the bases in the 2nd inning with no outs and only got one run out of it. In the top of the 3rd, Christian Encarnacion-Strand hit a solo homer to make it a 5-1 game.
In the bottom of the 3rd, Brooks Lee's 19th double scored their 2nd run of the game. Later, Alan Roden would strike out with the bases loaded to end the inning.
The final chance for the Twins came in the 8th, with Luke Keaschall and Royce Lewis getting on base. Unfortunately, Kaelen Culpepper would strike out looking to end the inning.
It was a pretty uneventful game after the 3rd inning, with the exception of Culpepper getting his first hit at Target Field in the 4th inning. Ober managed to settle down and go 6 innings, with the bullpen trio of Funderburk, Nance, and Rogers keeping the game within reach. The lineup just couldn't reach very far, or at all.

With Makhachev just days away from facing Ian Machado Garry in the UFC 330 main event, White prefers waiting at least until that fight ends before he starts stacking anymore accolades on Makhachev's resume.
"I don't think about that stuff until the fight happens," White said during the Contender Series post-fight press conference. "When we see his performance on Saturday, let's see how it plays out, but obviously breaking [Anderson Silva's] record, you keep grinding, you keep fighting, you put your head down and just keep f*cking knocking guys down left and right, by the time you say 'you know what? It didn't take long for trouble to find Bailey Ober on Tuesday night.
Ober allowed a single to the first batter of the game, Gunnar Henderson, and a two-run home run to the second batter he faced, Pete Alonso, who crushed an 88.2 mph fastball left over the heart of the zone.
An inning later, Henderson took an Ober changeup out of the park, with the second two-run home run putting the Twins down by four. And in the third, Ober served up another home run, this one to former Twins prospect Christian Encarnacion-Strand.
Ober capped his night with three scoreless innings, but the damage had been done; the Twins never led in Tuesday night's game.

The Yankees are struggling offensively. The Yankees do not hit with runners in scoring position. The Yankees have been too homer-reliant. All three of these tenets are true, especially since the injury bug swept through the Bronx and left them more vulnerable than they've been in several years.
All of their wins and losses are decided by one or two runs. They get excellent pitching, but regardless of the quality of the opposing starter, they often fail to dent home plate due to their middling healthy power options and their struggles with RISP. Since June 18th, they have been batting an absolutely dreadful .170 in these situations, by far the worst in baseball. They are also striking out a league-high 29.4 percent in these spots, limiting opportunities for productive outs.
This game was going like all the others. They squandered three massive opportunities with runners in scoring position off Bryan Woo early on before going down in order in three consecutive innings. Now trailing 1-0 after one measly run scored off a sharp Ryan Weathers, they got one more chance in the seventh and didn't let it go to waste. Two unlikely sources provided two great pieces of hitting to small ball their way to a four-run inning and a 4-1 win.
Weathers started this one out looking to continue the good vibes he's had on the ****** p lately and quickly retired the first two he faced before jumping ahead 0-2 on Julio Rodriguez before throwing four straight ****** and walking him. Things might've gotten hairy with a Dominic Canzone grounder that hit the second base bag if not for a stellar barehanded play by George Lombard Jr., who continues to be a savant defensively.

Day 12 of Cleveland Browns training camp took place Tuesday, August 11. The quarterback battle continued on, with everyone looking more comfortable as practices go on.
1. I Guess There Was Never Much Doubt: One of the biggest positions of debate heading into training camp was the offensive line, specifically from center to right tackle. However, it hasn't ended up being much to debate. Elgton Jenkins has been exclusively at center, and Tytus Howard has stuck to right tackle. Today, head coach Todd Monken indicated that right guard is the only spot still in competition, and that the veteran Teven Jenkins has the upper hand.
2. As for the Backups: One depth chart change caught the eye of the media today: Austin Barber was at left tackle on the second unit, while Dawand Jones was at right tackle.
3. Drill of the Day: Here is a fun drill where the defensive line pass rushes around the edge, but then works back toward a screen to try to dislodge it.
4. Early Interception: QB Deshaun Watson was first up as the quarterback today, and early on, he overthrew a pass that was picked off by CB Tyron Herring.

The Yankees offense was held in check for six innings before exploding for four runs in the seventh en route to a 4-1 win over the Mariners on Tuesday night.
-Weathers was dealing again. The southpaw mowed down the Mariners lineup, allowing just one hit and two walks in the first five innings, even retiring 10 straight batters at one point.
The game changed in the sixth when Randy Arozarena took Weathers deep with a one-out short-porch homer. It's Arozarena's 18th career home run against the Yankees.
Weathers went 5.2 innings (106 pitches/62 strikes), allowing the one run on two hits and three walks while striking out four.
-Bryan Woo came into Tuesday's game with a 4.31 ERA (a 6.27 ERA on the road), and those numbers improved because of the Yankees' lifeless offense.

After a joint practice with the Tennessee ******* ans there's still no clarity for the San Francisco 49ers on their left guard battle according to 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Shanahan on Tuesday spoke with reporters after the 49ers wrapped up their joint practice with the ******* ans and indicated that nothing changed in the race for the fifth and final starting spot on San Francisco's offensive line. Entering practice it was veteran Robert Jones and second-year player Connor Colby who were the presumed frontrunners at the position with rookie Carver Willis potentially making his way into the mix. That was where Shanahan said things still stood after practice.
"I think it's too early to say," Shanahan said. "There definitely is a battle there. It's open for anybody. Those guys would probably be the lead at it. Love to get Carver in that, too. Him missing a week or whatever it was with his concussion made him out of it a little bit, but he's been out two practices in a row. It's still early. We want to see those guys in the games, too, but it's definitely a battle for us to see who gets that spot."
There's a distinct difference between an open battle with multiple good players and one hasn't been able to separate themselves, and an open battle with multiple players who aren't good enough to step into the vacancy. Colby and Jones have had some issues with the starting group, and now Shanahan is potentially resting the team's hopes on a fifth-round draft pick who is changing positions after playing offensive tackle in college.
San Francisco won't need to nail down a definite starter until Week 1, but the fact they're inside of a month to go until their regular season opener and the coaching staff is still awaiting a player to put a stranglehold on the starting LG job is not a great sign entering their preseason opener.

All-Star Athletics first baseman Nick Kurtz will wear a brace on his injured right thumb through at least early September and is in jeopardy of missing the rest of 2026 season.
Manager Mark Kotsay offered an update to reporters on Tuesday and didn't sound optimistic about Kurtz's chances of playing again in 2026.
"Four weeks of no mobility," Kotsay said of Kurtz, per MLB.com's Martín Gallegos. "You probably can do the timeline and think through the scenarios in front of us for Nick."
Kurtz landed on the injured list on Aug. 4 for a second time with the thumb injury that initially caused him to miss 10 games in July. He aggravated the injury that was diagnosed as an acute on chronic volar plate tear of the MCP joint in his right thumb.
Nick Kurtz's second MLB season is likely done.

After putting up a total of 13 runs last night, the Mets and Braves had a much lower scoring affair in game two of this three game series, with the Atlanta going over NewYork 4-0.
Nolan McLean and Martín Pérez engaged in a pitchers' duel, with neither having dominant stuff tonight, but both doing what they could to keep the offense to a minimum. The Mets put runners on in each of the first four innings, but Pérez was able to keep them from coming around to score.
Both teams were kept off the board until the bottom of the fifth inning, when Ozzie Albies led off with a solo home run. That solo home run was the only hit given up by McLean, who had six strong innings, allowing just the one hit/one run, two walks, and struck out three. McLean was efficient with his pitches, throwing 85 over his six innings.
The Mets' best chance to score happened in the sixth inning, when Bo Bichette walked and Luis Robert Jr. singled to put two on with one out. However, Carson Benge grounded into a double play to end the inning without incident.
Another run crossed the plate for the Braves in the seventh, with Jefry Yan on the mound. Two walks, a wild pitch, a ground out, and a sacrifice fly plated the second run of the game. After issuing his third walk of the inning, Yan was pulled from the game for Chayce McDermott. The first pitch tossed by McDermott was a wild pitch, pushing the runners to second and third. A long fly ball off the bat of Austin Riley found its way into Robert's Jr's glove at the wall to end the inning.

US-listed spot Bitcoin (CRYPTO: $BTC) exchange-traded funds (ETFs) attracted more than $853 million in net inflows last week, marking their strongest weekly performance since mid-April as a security breach involving Coldcard wallets renewed concerns over crypto self-custody.
Data from SoSoValue shows that the funds have maintained an inflow streak since last week, with inflows peaking at $244.42 million last Wednesday, following $211.49 million the previous day. The five-day streak brought in approximately $853.5 million, pushing ******* ulative net inflows to $52.18 billion.

Speaking about his role following the arrival of Nathaniel Brown, the Croatian defender emphasized that earning a place in the starting XI has always been a part of life at a club like Bayern Munich, and that mentality has not changed.
"My role hasn't changed. Even before, when Hiroki arrived – and he can play in that position too – it was already up to me to make the coach's decision a difficult one. The 2026 Los Angeles Angels had one of the most successful trade deadlines in years.
After the last half-decade of never going all in on selling or buying at the deadline, that finally changed.
On July 29, the Angels announced they were trading catcher Logan O'Hoppe and right-handed pitcher Chase Silseth to the Texas Rangers for infielder Angel Arredondo. While the timing of the trade was surprising, the trade itself was not, at least not entirely.
In 75 games this season for the Angels, O'Hoppe hit .209. His slugging percentage sat at .295 with 63 strikeouts. 2026 has been disappointing so far for O'Hoppe, not only offensively but defensively. He's had five errors and has allowed 50 stolen bases while only catching 14.
While O'Hoppe has been a fan favorite among Halo fans, the trade made sense. The 26-year-old just hasn't been doing it for the Angels behind the plate. And with the addition of Tyler Heineman earlier this season and Travis D'Arnaud returning from the injured list, there was no room left for O'Hoppe.

TORONTO (AP) — Three-time All-Star catcher Adley Rutschman was activated off the 10-day injured list to make his Red Sox debut against the Blue Jays in Toronto on Tuesday night.
Rutschan was set to catch and bat third against Blue Jays right-hander Dylan Cease. Rutschman, who wore jersey number 31, hasn't played since July 18 because of left wrist inflammation.
To make room for Rutschman on the 40-man roster, the Red Sox designated catcher Jake Rogers for ******* ignment. Boston also transferred infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa (left forearm) to the 60-day injured list.

Burke's excellent extension while walking batters at a lower rate (7.4%) has helped maintain his dominance over the last several starts. In his last seven games, he's posted an excellent 1.74 ERA across 41 1/3 frames with just a 0.92 WHIP, striking out 57 against just nine walks. The White Sox rank last in innings pitched for starting pitchers, so Burke going at least six innings in five of his last six starts has been helpful to keep a struggling offense in games.
With a lefty on the mound against the South Siders, Will Venable is calling on his right-handed hitters to hold it down at the plate tonight. Chase Meidroth is getting a second consecutive day of rest, so Sam Antonacci will slot in at second base, with Randal Grichuk batting cleanup and playing left. The San Francisco Giants made a handful of roster moves on Tuesday, ahead of their evening home game against the Houston Astros. As expected, the team found a veteran catcher to back up Drew Cavanaugh, and it's a familiar face: Andrew Knizner.
Knizner had been playing for the Boston Red Sox AAA affiliate until last week, but exercised an opt-out clause. The 31-year old had posted a 141 wRC+ with two home runs in 21 games for Boston's Minor League team (which came after a 123 wRC+ with 10 homers in 33 games with Colorado's AAA affiliate), and was hopeful that he could parlay that performance into another Major League opportunity.
That opportunity came calling quickly, as the Giants announced on Monday that catcher Daniel Susac had a fractured left knee patellar, which almost certainly ends his debut season. San Francisco had added Zach Morgan to the roster to back up Cavanaugh, with Morgan arriving in San Francisco during the third inning of the game. Morgan's debut stint in the Majors lasted less than a game: he didn't see any action, and was optioned to AAA Sacramento on Tuesday.
Knizner, a right-handed hitter who has seven Major League seasons under his belt, played 33 games for the Giants last year, and hit .221/.299/.299 for a 73 wRC+. Thanks to his solid defense behind the dish, though, he was still worth +0.2 fWAR. Knizner will play plenty, but will likely still be the backup to Cavanaugh, so that the Giants can give one of their rookies some serious run to better develop and evaluate him.
Elsewhere on the roster, the Giants activated outfielder Victor Bericoto off the 10-Day Injured List. Bericoto, who is in his debut season, hadn't played since injuring his oblique on July 9. The righty made four rehab appearances with Sacramento, and hit 1-14 with a double, a walk, and six strikeouts. With Heliot Ramos traded, Bericoto is expected to get a chance to be the everyday left fielder, which will serve as an audition for the same role in 2027. He's hitting .293/.305/.552 through 59 plate appearances this year, and jumps straight into the lineup tonight, starting in left field and hitting fifth.

Synopsys (NASDAQ:SNPS) just handed AMD (NASDAQ:AMD) and Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) a new way to design chips: let AI agents do more of the work. On July 27, Synopsys unveiled autonomous agentic AI workflows built with Microsoft and already being evaluated by AMD, aimed at cutting the time it takes to turn a chip specification into working silicon. The announcement lands as investors weigh whether Synopsys deserves its premium for owning so much of the AI buildout's tooling.
Synopsys introduced two autonomous workflows at the DAC Chips to Systems Conference, developed with Microsoft and available for evaluation on Microsoft Discovery. One handles debug closure, using domain-specific and task-level agents to find design failures and speed up validation, with early evaluations showing a 25% to 40% reduction in debug cycle time. The other automates implementation and closure work on Synopsys' Fusion Compiler on Azure, with early results pointing to improved quality of results. AMD is actively evaluating these workflows for its next-generation products.
That traction fits a broader pattern. Synopsys already counts Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) as both a customer and an investor, after Nvidia expanded its partnership with a $2 billion investment. Synopsys' design software and intellectual property make it hard for rivals to dislodge once a chipmaker builds a project around its tools, and that stickiness showed up in the numbers: fiscal 2026 second quarter revenue grew 42% year-over-year, prompting the company to raise its full-year guidance.
Despite that growth, Synopsys shares had fallen 12% year to date as of July 16, a gap one **** ysis called jarring given the company's market share gains. Part of the explanation sits inside the Ansys deal: Synopsys paid $35 billion for it, and the resulting amortization costs have kept margins tight, with relief only expected once those costs wind down. Stock-based compensation made up roughly 58.8% of Synopsys' operating cash flow in fiscal 2025, meaning a large share of its reported free cash flow, about $1.3 billion for the year, comes from a non-cash add-back rather than actual cash generation.
There are also risks outside the balance sheet. Synopsys is managing multiple class action lawsuits alleging misstatements about its intellectual property segment, and a settlement with Elliott Investment Management could still push the company toward strategic changes.

Daniel Cormier wants Ali Abdelaziz to pump the brakes on PFL champion Usman Nurmagomedov's chances against top UFC lightweights.
Nurmagomedov (22-0) is a free agent after knocking out Archie Colgan in the first-round of the PFL New York main event earlier this month. If Nurmagomedov does end up signing with the UFC, his manager, Abdelaziz, claimed on the "Pound 4 Pound" podcast that he would have his way with Ilia Topuria, Paddy Pimblett, Charles Oliveira, and Max Holloway – which Cormier thinks is an absurd statement to make.
"I get it, that's your guy, you're a promoter, but you're speaking about the absolute best guys in the world," Cormier said on his YouTube channel. "Now, to have faith and think Usman Nurmagomedov can fight these guys, absolutely. ... I think Usman Nurmagomedov is special. I think Usman Nurmagomedov, if he comes to the UFC, immediately becomes one of the top contenders in the organization. I have seen this young man train. I have seen him work. I know that he has championship-level experience."
While Nurmagomedov got some of that championship-level experience through two tough outings against Paul Hughes, Cormier said the UFC would be a step up in competition.
"As good as the Irish kid is, the UFC guys are better," Cormier said. "So you would imagine that these fights would be ultra competitive, but that's the beauty in having a guy separate himself from the world in a different organization. That's the beauty because while what Ali says is very out there, when he looks at that group of fighters, he would expect that because that's all they've really done. Umar has done very well. Khabib dominated; Islam has dominated.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — The San Francisco 49ers and Tennessee ******* ans didn't take long to get on each other's nerves at a joint practice.
A scuffle broke following the first play of 11-on-11 drills on Tuesday with the physical play and animosity only amping up from there.
"The energy was hot from the first play," ******* ans rookie receiver Carnell Tate said.
Tate was on the receiving end of that early on when San Francisco cornerback Renardo Green threw him to the ground following a catch near the sideline, prompting players on both teams to rush together and exchange words and shoves.
That was one of several scuffles that broke out in the first 10 minutes of team drills at the joint practice, leading to four players eventually getting kicked out of the practice for throwing punches.

Los Angeles Angels interim general manager John Mozeliak explained why the Angels fired three of their pitching coaches Tuesday afternoon.
The Angels fired pitching coach Mike Maddux, bullpen Coach Dom Chiti and ****** istant pitching coach Darryl Scott on Tuesday, ending their one-year contracts a couple of months early. Mozeliak kept things vague in the statement he released following the decision.
"After spending time discussing with [manager Kurt Suzuki] where we are as a coaching staff and where we want to go in the future, we felt it was best to make a change," Angels interim general manager John Mozeliak said, per a statement from the Angels. "With seven weeks remaining, we plan to use this time to evaluate what additional steps are needed to elevate our entire pitching program and best positions for success moving forward."
Ahead of the Angels' second game of a three-game series against the Texas Rangers, though, Mozeliak revealed a key reason for their dismissal. Per MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger, the coaches weren't sufficiently using the available technology.
Interim GM John Mozeliak said the pitching coaches were dismissed after talking with staff and players. They weren't using the technology given to them the way the organization/players wanted.
