Seattle Seahawks starting quarterback Sam Darnold and No. 1 wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba arguably were the best QB-WR pairing in the NFL last season. It's partially why the Seahawks won Super Bowl 60. Their connection was once again fully on display at Wednesday's 10th training camp practice.
Smith-Njigba posted a league-leading 1,793 receiving yards last season. JSN was rewarded for his individual accolades by being named Offensive Player of the Year. Smith-Njigba has picked up right where he left off this offseason.
Smith-Njigba was downright dominant at Wednesday's practice, per ESPN reporter Brady Henderson, who was in attendance. "It was great to see him come alive," head coach Mike Macdonald said after practice. "Some of those in high-leverage situations, too. … There's defensive attention on where he's at at all times, too, so for him to be able to make those plays, it's great for the Seahawks, great for him."
Darnold has so many pass-catching weapons at his disposal. Cooper Kupp, Rashid Shaheed, and AJ Barner are proven threats. Sophomores Elijah Arroyo and Tory Horton are expected to take developmental steps forward. The running game has been revamped with the additions of Emanuel Wilson and Jadarian Price, and possibly a bigger role for George Holani.
Wednesday's practice was a reminder that the offense should still run through Smith-Njigba, though.

The Raiders have added a veteran running back.
Las Vegas announced on Thursday that the club has signed Dare Ogunbowale.
Ogunbowale, 32, spent the last four seasons with Houston, mainly playing special teams. In 2025, he also ran it 11 times for 25 yards with a touchdown while catching 10 passes for 76 yards.
In all, Ogunbowale has appeared in 114 games with nine starts since entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2017 out of Wisconsin.
With an open roster spot, the Raiders did not need to make a corresponding move.

Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White was named the WNBA's Coach of the Month for July, and fans are not happy about it.
Things are looking good for the Fever as the WNBA season hurtles towards the playoffs. The team had an 8-2 record in July and they're catching fire at the right time.
They've been in the headlines because of Sophie Cunningham's off-court takes, but now it's the play on the court that's speaking the loudest. Kelsey Mitchell, Caitlin Clark, and Aliyah Boston are all balling out.
Credit is also owed to head coach Stephanie White, and she has received it in the form of a Coach of the Month award. But WNBA fans don't seem to agree with that decision.

Day 7 of Cleveland Browns training camp took place Wednesday, August 5.
1. A Change at Center: Cleveland has been rolling with Elgton Jenkins at center, but that changed today, as not only was he sitting out, but Parker Brailsford was sidelined too. Luke Wypler jumped the depth chart to practice with the ones.
2. Watson Finds a Groove: It's a low bar, but the word is that QB Deshaun Watson had his best practice session by far. The stat tracker shows him throwing 7 touchdown passes, but don't be in awe of that, since some were goal line passes in 7 on 7 drills. Nonetheless, he was at least sharp in the basics on the day, which is a step forward.
3. Look Out, Malachi Corley: Last year, we saw WR Malachi Corley have success on jet sweeps. However, in addition to catching everything coming his way, WR Denzel Boston got the carry on both an end around and jet sweep today. To my surprise, it was also noted that he's been taking some reps on the return team too.
4. Growing List: Earlier, we mentioned that two centers missed practice. But the injury list in general is growing (although not everyone is an injury, like TE Joe Royer).

Detroit Lions tight end Miles Kitselman, an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee who had seen reps with Detroit's first-team offense in training camp, was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, ending his rookie season.
In a corresponding move, wide receiver Tarik Black, who waived waived by the Lions on Aug. 3, was brought back to the roster.
Kitselman (leg) saw opportunities with the first-team offense as TE3 behind Sam LaPorta and Brock Wright while Tyler Conklin worked to return to the field. Conklin, a veteran signed in March, has been dealing with a calf issue he sustained in the spring and hasn't yet practiced in training camp.
Conklin passed his physical Tuesday, according to the league's transaction wire, offering a potential signal for his return. Conklin had a quiet season with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2025 but was productive over his three years with the New York Jets (2022-24) before that, with 1,622 yards and seven touchdowns.
Before the Lions, Kitselman played at Hutchinson Community College (2021), Alabama (2022-23) and Tennessee (2024-25). He made 24 starts over two seasons with the Volunteers, catching 48 passes for 554 yards and six touchdowns.

The Seattle Seahawks signed running back TJ Harden to a one-year contract on Wednesday. Ian Rapoport was first on it at 1:34 p.m. PST.
Harden went undrafted in April after a four-year college career with UCLA and SMU. He signed with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent and participated in their offseason activities until Monday, when they released him to make room for defensive tackle Travis Bell. Cleveland now has five running backs after releasing Harden, but the Seahawks have seven after adding him.
Measuring in at 6'0 2/8", 218, Harden profiles as a physical runner with good contact balance. He was only a three-star recruit out of high school due to limited speed and agility, but still good enough in the competitive California Southern Section to convince UCLA to take a chance on him. Just two years ago, Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bienemy praised his ability to execute a well-rounded fullback role, "taking stress off the tight end" in pass protection in addition to running and catching when need be.
Harden won't threaten Jadarian Price's reps as the most explosive back in the offense, but all the short-yardage backs have a new competitor to stave off. If he can stand out in pass protection, he can push the rest of the depth chart during training camp and preseason. If the fullback role is truly in the works, though, maybe it's just a short-term Robbie Ouzts replacement.

BEREA, Ohio (AP) — Quarterback competitions and learning new offenses have been the norm for Jerry Jeudy during his seven seasons in the NFL.
The Cleveland Browns wide receiver said Wednesday this is at least the fifth year he has been on a team that's figuring out who will be its starting quarterback during training camp.
Even though Jeudy has become frustrated at times with the lack of stability — first with the Denver Broncos and now the Browns — he realizes that who lines up under center is not his decision.
"I just got to deal with it. I can't control who's at quarterback, what happens to the quarterback, anything," Jeudy said. "I do control what I can control and that's running routes getting open and catching the ball, making plays. Other than that, I can't do nothing else but my job."
Jeudy — who has caught passes from 14 starting quarterbacks (seven each with the Browns and Broncos) — further clarified that a recent video on social media showing him holding up four fingers was about the age of his daughter and not an endorsement of Deshaun Watson, who wears that number, becoming Cleveland's starting QB for the Sept. 13 opener at Jacksonville.

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb appears to be taking an unorthodox approach to addressing the issues he endured with drops during the 2025 NFL season.
Lamb was spotted during a Cowboys training camp practice on August 4 catching passes from a JUGS machine with some sort of net or cloth draped over his helmet.
Lamb was able to consistently catch passes from the machine despite his vision being impacted by his head-covering. His counterpart, George Pickens, wasn't able to enjoy similar success when he briefly gave Lamb's drill a try.

There's a reason the Los Angeles Dodgers were so aggressive in their pursuit of two catchers at the trade deadline. Turns out, breakout Dalton Rushing is dealing with a "partially torn UCL," potentially putting the rest of his season and postseason in jeopardy, manager Dave Roberts confirmed in a radio interview Tuesday.
Roberts said the team discovered Rushing's injury a day before the trade deadline, leading to the Dodgers picking up both Hunter Feduccia and Ben Rortvedt on Monday. Rortvedt was thrust into action immediately, catching Tarik Skubal's first start with the team Tuesday. Feduccia, however, did make an appearance during the contest.
Both players will need to play a significant role for the team down the stretch, as the Dodgers' other starting option at catcher, Will Smith, has been sidelined since June with a neck injury.
Smith, however, is working his way back and is expected to return before the end of the regular season.
Prior to the injury, Rushing was in the midst of a breakout season. With Smith down, Rushing proved to be more than an adequate replacement, slashing .253/.335/.475, with 12 home runs, over 74 games.

The Florida State Seminoles held their first scrimmage of fall camp on Tuesday night in Doak Campbell Stadium as they prepare for the New Mexico State Aggies and the 2026 season. While Mike Norvell was pleased with starter Ashton Daniels, it was not all good news in the quarterback room.
Norvell revealed that Malachi Marshall is dealing with a "slight injury" and did not play, according to Liam Rooney of the Tallahassee Democrat. Norvell did not seem to think it was a major injury, saying he hopes he will be available for their second scrimmage on Sunday.
Marshall, who recently joined the team, is competeting with Kevin Sperry to be FSU's primary backup behind Daniels. A JUCO product, he is coming off an excellent season at Iowa Western C.C., leading them to a national championship and a 12-1 record. He was named the JUCO Offensive Player of the Year after he completed 63% of his passes for 2,750 yards, 33 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.
While he has a great ability to throw the football, he has plenty of catching up to do after missing out on spring practice. At 168 pounds, he also needs to keep adding weight to survive the grind of a season.
Sperry was able to show what he can do in the scrimmage, hitting freshman wide receiver Jasen Lopez for a big gain, Norvell said, before adding that there were some things to "continue to work on" when addressing Sperry. He played in three games for FSU last season, completing 12 of his 17 passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns.

With NFL training camps fully ramped up and the preseason on the horizon, there is no shortage of various quick-hit highlight videos popping up on social media. This certainly stands true for the Dallas Cowboys, and one specific training camp drill done by CeeDee Lamb quickly grabbed the attention of fans league-wide.
Wide receivers, in particular, have been known to follow specific routines in their daily preparation for the season. Some may have a set number of ***** they catch each day, while others utilize unique drills to help work on catching passes in coverage. But for Lamb, his drill included a large white net covering his entire face/helmet while catching passes, as Cowboys reporter Patrik Walker first revealed.
It was unquestionably a unique (and I'd go out on a limb and guess very rarely seen) approach to a pass-catching drill. It also sparked some questions and speculation about exactly why Lamb was using the net as part of his training.
While it hasn't been confirmed, the popular theory is that Lamb took this approach to address the sunlight issue that's been a topic of conversation in late-afternoon games at AT&T Stadium. That thought process makes sense, as the sun directly in players' eyes has caused a few notable issues in previous seasons.
In a bit of positive news for Cowboys fans who have been bothered by this, owner Jerry Jones told Sam Gannon of KDFW Fox 4 that he's giving "a thought" to tinting the windows, which would be a significant step toward addressing the sunlight issue during games.

Former Oklahoma Sooners running back Taylor Tatum spent two seasons at OU before transferring to Michigan this offseason. However, according to multiple reports, Tatum has left the Wolverines, and he's no longer on the Michigan football team.
Hailing from Longview (Texas) High School, Tatum was the No. 1 running back in the recruiting class of 2024, and a major recruiting win for the Sooners. He was a part of the running back rotation as a true freshman, but he fell out of the mix due to ball security issues and the emergence of Xavier Robinson. In 2025, Tatum battled injuries and barely played, registering just one carry.
With the Wolverines, Tatum had switched positions to defensive back and was competing for reps in the safety room at Michigan. Now, he's left the team, with the reason still unknown.
Tatum also played baseball for the Sooners and was set to do the same for the Wolverines, though it's unknown at this time if that will happen next baseball season. Oklahoma was set to face off against Tatum in Ann Arbor in Week 2, but he'll now leave the program having never suited up for Michigan.
During his time in Norman, the 5-foot-10, 212-pounder ran 57 times for 277 yards and three touchdowns, also catching five passes for 41 yards and a score. Essentially all of that production came in the 2024 season.

After another tremendous stretch of games, Caitlin Clark has been named Eastern Conference Player of the Week once again as the WNBA released its awards for Week 10 of the 2026 regular season.
It's the sixth time in her three-year WNBA career that the former Hawkeye has earned Player of the Week honors, the third time this season that Clark has captured the recognition, and the only player in the league so far this year to earn the distinction on back-to-back weeks.
Clark scored a **** ulative 77 points this past week, the third-most by any player in the WNBA over the span. A day later I asked the same question to Derrick Mason, the all-time leading receiver in the franchise's ***** ans era. Without knowing Tate's answer first, Mason offered an almost identical reply.
For as much as we can focus on Tate's athletic talents, the fact that he already understands and communicates about the game like one of the best players in franchise history feels more valuable. So much of Tate's early success seems connected to how easy everything seems to come to him. Natural skill helps, but that baseline understanding of responsibilities and feel for how to play the position can't be underrated.

A covered call ETF is a fund that owns a portfolio of stocks — often an index like the S&P 500 or Nasdaq-100 — and simultaneously sells (or "writes") call options — either on those individual holdings or on the index itself — against that portfolio. The premiums it collects from selling those options are passed through to shareholders as income, typically paid monthly. That option income is what powers the eye-catching yields these funds advertise.
The strategy is called covered because the fund actually owns the underlying stocks it's writing options against as opposed to a naked call, where the seller doesn't own the shares. Owning the stock covers the obligation, capping the risk of the options position itself.
To understand the yield, you need to understand what a call option is. When you sell a call option, you give the buyer the right to purchase a stock from you at a set price (the "strike price") at or before a set date. In exchange, the buyer pays you a fee upfront, known as the premium.
If the stock stays below the strike price, the option expires worthless, the buyer walks away, and you keep the premium as pure profit. A covered call ETF does this over and over, month after month, across its entire portfolio, collecting a steady stream of premiums that it distributes to shareholders. That's the income engine.
The premium is larger when the underlying stock is more volatile — which is why covered call funds on volatile **** ets (tech stocks, or single names) can advertise dramatically higher yields than those on the broad, steadier S&P 500.

Just when you think it can't get any worse…A comically pathetic 8th inning turns a possible actual win into just another disheveled loss and the "free fall" stats keep mounting.
It's hard to believe that on June 19th the A's were 38-38, winning percentage that would earn them a spot 1.5 games out of 1st place had they maintained it through this evening. In hindsight, it was probably a relatively poor strategy to go 7-30 thereafter, 5-26 in their most recent 31.
Before continuing, we need to take a moment to appreciate just how "Bad News Bears" the bottom of the 8th inning was. Tasked with holding a 4-3 lead, Hogan Harris began the inning with the obligatory lead off walk. To his credit he was efficient and needed only 4 pitches, cleverly conserving himself so he could offer his greatness to many ensuing batters.
Then he walked the second hitter because walking the first 2 you face has become a reliever's mantra. No fewer than 3 different relievers did that in the same game not too long ago — I would tell you the exact date but the games all blend together now.
In the only normal at bat, JJ Bleday struck out. What followed was somewhat remarkable in that it took blunders from 3 different players to occur. Tyler Stephenson flied to RF deep enough for Elly De La Cruz to tag and go to 3B. Butler's throw was one hop to the cut off man, Jacob Wilson, but Wilson let the ball go through. It went through to 3Bman Tommy White, who fielded the throw by not catching it and the ball rolled to Hogan Harris backing up. Nate Rouette and his brother Nelson went shark fishing on Cape Cod hoping for an exciting catch, but were shocked by what they reeled in -- a tropical species of shark with a reputation for eating everything it can swallow.
The brothers, longtime sport fishermen who live in Massachusetts, released a juvenile tiger shark in late July after catching it from a beach. The five-foot shark is far more common in warmer, southern waters such as the Caribbean Sea, and scientists said its appearance off Falmouth, Massachusetts, is an indicator of warming seas caused by climate change.
Nate and Nelson said the late-night catch was a thrill after hours of seeking far more common brown sharks.
"And I saw those horizontal lines, indicating it was a tiger shark, which was super cool," said Nate, who is the social media manager for On The Water magazine. "Immediately I started yelling to my brother, 'It's a tiger, it's a tiger shark!' And he was in disbelief."
The Rouette brothers caught a young specimen of a shark that can grow to more than 15 feet (4.6 meters) and 1,400 pounds (635 kilograms). Tiger sharks eat a wide array of other ocean life, including fish, crustaceans and birds, and are famous for sometimes eating man-made items such as old license plates and shoes that are later found in their stomachs. The adults are also more dangerous to humans than most shark species, though unprovoked fatal bites are rare.

The New England Patriots circled back to the wire after the ninth practice of training camp.
The organization officially claimed wide receiver Tejhaun Palmer off waivers from the Arizona Cardinals on Tuesday afternoon. In a corresponding 91-man roster move, tight end Jeremiah Franklin was placed on waivers.
Palmer, 26, entered the NFL in the sixth round of the 2024 draft at No. 191 overall. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound wide receiver by way of Snow College and UAB spent the majority of his initial two regular seasons on the Cardinals' practice squad. Ahead of Arizona's finale last January, Palmer was promoted to the 53-man roster. He saw four snaps on offense to go with two snaps on special teams in his debut and was waived on Monday.
Franklin, 22, had signed in Foxborough as an undrafted free agent leading up to training camp in July. The 6-foot-3, 244-pound tight end out of Boston College did so after participating in the Patriots' local pro day as well as rookie minicamp on a tryout basis. During his tenure in Chestnut Hill, Franklin appeared in 44 games, including 30 starts, on the way to catching 93 passes for 1,010 yards and six touchdowns.
The Patriots move further into August with 12 wide receivers on the active depth chart. And after losing veteran Julian Hill to injured reserve in June, the tight end room stands at six, including C.J. Dippre on the physically unable to perform list.

Patriots rookie linebacker Gabe Jacas is finally on the practice field after missing spring workouts and the start of training camp because of contract negotiations and a knee procedure.
Jacas, a second-round draft pick, arrived at training camp Saturday after becoming the last unsigned second-round selection in the NFL. He and the Patriots have since reached a contract agreement, allowing him to begin catching up with his teammates.
"Yeah first and foremost, I just want to say how grateful I am to be here. That was a long journey, but I'm just glad to be here, be part of this organization and it's a blessing to be at practice and running around."
Jacas said he's focused on moving forward after the contract process.
"All that stuff is behind me and whatever happened in the past is the past and just trying to look forward and focus on the future."

Both Will Smith and Dalton Rushing are on the injured list, and Ben Rortvedt has come to the Dodgers rescue yet again, this time from not only off the 40-man roster but also from a different team. One day after the Dodgers' acquired Rortvedt from the New York Mets, they selected him to the major league roster to catch Tarik Skubal's Dodgers debut on Tuesday night at Wrigley Field.
Hunter Feduccia, who was also acquired on Monday in a separate trade with the Tampa Bay Rays, was also recalled from Triple-A. Eliezer Alfonzo was optioned to Oklahoma City and Chuckie Robinson was designated for **** ignment on Tuesday, completing the full catching tandem swap.
Last season with both Smith and Rushing sidelined, Rortvedt started 15 of the final 21 games of the regular season and also started the first four postseason games too, until Smith returned from his hand injury. Looks like it's going to be the same for now, at least for the next few weeks.
"Given what Ben did for us last year, us knowing him, him being with a lot of our guys, being more of a guy that's been around for a while," manager Dave Roberts told reporters Monday in Chicago, "I could see him taking the lion's share for the foreseeable future."
Rortvedt had been with Triple-A Syracuse all season, starting 39 games behind the plate. He hit .235/.391/.414 with six home runs in 167 games.

The start of Kenyon Sadiq's journey in the NFL is not off to the start he would have hoped for. The Oregon Ducks rookie tight end was drafted in the first round by the New York Jets in April as a premier pass-catcher along the line of scrimmage. However, getting on the field is proving to be a struggle.
In the spring, Sadiq missed time to have a minor hernia procedure, which coach Aaron Glenn said the Jets were aware was an issue at Oregon before they drafted him. Glenn said the expectation was for Sadiq to return to the field for the start of training camp. As the Jets progress into the first part of camp, another setback has put Sadiq back on the shelf.
On Tuesday, Glenn announced that Sadiq suffered a setback in his recovery and "will be out for a little bit" during training camp. He does expect the former Oregon star to be ready and suit up for his debut in Week 1 of the season when the Jets travel to face the Tennessee ****** ans on Sept. 13.
Sadiq participated in the first three days of training camp with the Jets, working off to the side in what Glenn called a "maintenance program." He was absent from practice on Monday and Tuesday, which signaled some concern.
It's big news for the rookie tight end as he will likely miss most or all of the preseason and fall further behind on the depth chart. Sadiq's main competition is Mason Taylor, a second-year tight end for the Jets with similar pass-catching abilities. While Sadiq watches from the sideline, Taylor will have the opportunity to put more reps on tape for the coaches to review.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Chicago White Sox targeted bullpen, outfield and catching depth in three separate deadline trades on Monday.
In the search for help behind the plate, the Sox acquired catcher Joey Bart from the Atlanta Braves for pitcher Duncan Davitt.
They also added outfielder Brenton Doyle, a two-time Gold Glove Award winner, from the Colorado Rockies for minor-league pitcher Mason Adams and infielder Carlos Vielma.
And they picked up reliever Huascar Brazobán from the New York Mets for minor-league pitchers Gabe Davis and Zach Franklin.
"Couldn't be more excited with what we were able to accomplish," Sox general manager Chris Getz said during a videoconference call about the trades made Saturday and Monday. "Feel really good with what we were able to accomplish. And I feel like we're well-positioned for the remainder of the year, and we'll see what happens."
