Michael Wright, the actor best known for his powerful performance as Eddie King Jr. in the cult classic 1991 musical drama The Five Heartbeats, has died at age 70.
In a statement sent to TMZ, Wright's family said he died in Los Angeles Wednesday after suffering heart failure coupled with complications of a rare degenerative neurological disease called Marchiafava-Bignami.
The news was announced by his wife, Susan, on Instagram on Friday.
"It is with profound sadness and an unimaginable heaviness in my heart that I share the passing of my beloved husband, Michael Wright," Susan wrote in a statement shared by TV personality Madina Milana.

Barry signed with the Steelers as a free agent shortly before his graduating from Northwestern in 1972.

If Yasir Al-Rumayyan, governor of Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), was looking for a reason to pull its money out of the LIV Golf tour, he reportedly found it in Sergio Garcia's outburst at the Masters in April.
That's the claim in Friday's edition of The Financial Times.
"In April, as LIV golfers floundered at the Masters, golf's most prestigious tournament, Spanish star Sergio Garcia damaged the Augusta National course during a fit of rage in the final round," read the Times. "People familiar with the matter say Rumayyan's embarrassment at the sequence of events helped lead to his decision to pull the plug on PIF's financing of the rival tour, as the fund focuses more on its huge domestic commitments in the kingdom."

They are two of 13 athletes granted a temporary restraining order on the Tenth Circuit's ruling after filing a lawsuit in the Jefferson County Circuit Court. The order is set to "remain in effect until further order of the court or until determination of plaintiffs' request for a preliminary injunction," according to the court document.

The Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals handed the NCAA a temporary victory on Friday, issuing a stay of a preliminary injunction that granted athletes from the high school class of 2022 an extra year of eligibility.
The 2-1 decision by the Tenth Circuit came after the NCAA appealed a Colorado federal judge's temporary injunction allowing the 2022 athletes to play under the same rules as players currently in college. In June, the NCAA changed its rules to allow athletes to play five seasons within a five-year eligibility window, provided age requirements are met, but the rule was not applied retroactively.
The NCAA informed schools on Friday that the rules that applied before the Colorado decision were in effect.
The Colorado judge granted the injunction on July 31 in the federal class-action lawsuit filed by Brock Wisne, a Northern Colorado basketball player who said the NCAA violated antitrust law by barring him from playing a fifth season.
"The Tenth Circuit's decision to stay the preliminary injunction issued by a Colorado federal district court judge in Wisne permits Division I to return to the status quo before the district court intervened," an NCAA statement said. "Effective immediately, the age-based eligibility rules will be implemented as the Division I membership intended.

Italian Alessio Magagnotti sprinted to the first professional victory of his career, pulling off a surprise victory over top favourite Paul Magnier on the second stage of the Tour of Germany on Friday.
The 19-year-old outmanoeuvred the Frenchman in a thrilling sprint in Offenbach an der Queich, in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate.
"I just gave it everything and managed to come out on top. It's a dream come true for me. Now I just want to enjoy this moment," Magagnotti said.

It looks as if Jake Bobo's fourth season with the Seattle Seahawks is already over.
The fan favorite wide receiver and special teams contributor suffered what was described as a "bad-looking leg injury" during Friday's joint practice with the Tennessee ****** ans in Nashville. He was carted off after awkwardly landing on a catch attempt, and barring some very favorable imaging, that will be his last action on the field this year.
"Our heart goes out to Jake Bobo," Mike Macdonald said after practice. "Seems like it's going to be a serious knee, we're going to get it imaged, but early returns—looks like it's a long-term injury. So that's unfortunate."
Bobo re-signed with the Seahawks on a two-year deal after matching the Jacksonville Jaguars' restricted free agent offer sheet. He's functioned as the fourth or fifth option at wide receiver, doing a lot of the dirty work as a blocker and in kick and punt return coverage. His NFC Championship touchdown against the Los Angeles Rams was his only score all season and it helped Seattle get to the Super Bowl.
In all likelihood, Bobo would've played the Sunday preseason game against the ****** ans, having played the first half of last week's game against the Dallas Cowboys. Unfortunately, it appears as if the next time we see Bobo will be 2027.

1520 ET – Oil futures rise for a fourth straight session as transit remains restricted through the Strait of Hormuz, keeping supply concerns alive. EIA data showed U.S. commercial crude stocks up by 4.4 million barrels last week at 428.8 million, bringing inventories in line with their five-year average for the time of year. The elimination of the longstanding crude deficit “would appear price-neutral if not for the continued sizable deficits in the product markets,” Ritterbusch & ***** ociates says in a note. “WTI can be pulled higher by a strong distillate market since key refiners beyond the East and West coasts that represent about 80% of U.S. capacity are still running virtually full-out.” WTI settles up 1% at $85.83 a barrel, and Brent rises 0.7% to $91.62—both well off intraday highs.(anthony.harrupwsj.com)
1155 ET – Oil futures add to earlier gains with the market seemingly taking little comfort from a third weekly build in U.S. commercial crude stocks that put inventories in line with their five-year average. The 4.4 million barrel rise in stocks to 428.8 million barrels follows last week’s unexpectedly large 17.4 million barrel increase. “The supply shock is easing with production up and demand weakening a bit,” says David Russell of TradeStation. “While the energy situation is tight and difficult, worst-case scenarios aren’t playing out.” WTI is up 1.9% at $86.54 a barrel and Brent is 1.5% higher at $92.37 a barrel.
