Promoter Frank Warren has refused to say if the 'Battle of Britain' between former world heavyweight champions Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will take place in the United Kingdom or the United States.
Eddie Hearn, Joshua's promoter, insisted last month the bout must take place in the UK under the terms of the fight deal signed by both camps, with London's Wembley Stadium seemingly the most likely venue.
But Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh reportedly wants to stage the contest at a time that would attract the largest global audience.
But were the fight to be held at Wembley, any plans to stage the bout with a 2:00 am (0200 GMT) start would require an exemption to the stadium's curfew restrictions.
There would be no such issues should the long-awaited contest be held instead at New York's Madison Square Garden.

Tottenham Hotspur are expecting a bid from Atletico Madrid for centre-back Cristian Romero.
According to Marca, the Spanish giants have made the Argentine centre-back their priority target and are ready to test Tottenham's resolve.
It's been clear that the 'exceptional' 28-year-old could leave Tottenham this summer after dropping several hints about wanting a return to Spain.
Tottenham have already taken the proactive step to bring in reinforcements in that area by signing Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke.
Those additions already made it clear that Tottenham were prepared for this eventuality, and now they're ready to sanction Romero's long-awaited exit.

The biggest stars in European athletics head to Birmingham next week for the 2026 European Athletics Championships with continental **** les and in some cases world records on the line, just a week after the close of the Commonwealth Games.
A world-class field is headlined by the likes of Olympic 800m champion Keely Hodgkinson, who has endured a stop-start season and faces fierce competition in what should be an electrifying 800m event, with Switzerland's Audrey Werro, the fastest woman in the world this year, and Femke Broeders-Bol – stepping up from her usual 400m hurdles – also on the startlist.
Hodgkinson's training partner and new Commonwealth Games 800m champion Georgia Hunter Bell is in action but only in the 1,500m, while reigning European 100m champion Dina Asher-Smith is back to defend her **** le alongside another British hope in world 200m silver medallist Amy Hunt.
In total, 10 reigning world champions will be in action, including legendary pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis, while Norway's Olympic 5,000m champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen will make his long-awaited return from injury having not competed at all in 2026.
Here's everything you need to know.

C.J Stroud gets his favorite target back as Tank Dell makes long-awaited return originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Houston Texans took another encouraging step toward the 2026 season on Wednesday as wide receiver Tank Dell made his long-awaited return to the practice field.
Although Dell participated only in a limited role, his appearance marked the first time he has taken part in any padded team practice since suffering a devastating knee injury late in the 2024 season. The speedy receiver looked comfortable during individual drills, hauling in passes from quarterback C.J. Stroud and running crisp routes at full speed before his workload was intentionally cut short.
For the Texans, seeing Dell back in football activities is another sign that one of the team's most dynamic offensive weapons is steadily working his way toward a full return.
Head coach DeMeco Ryans stressed that the organization remains committed to a patient approach, prioritizing Dell's long-term health over rushing him back into action.

Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham comments on transgender athletes participating in sports have sparked intense debate on whether it's fair for transgender girls to compete in sports with and against other girls.
"I got a lot of negative feedback about me hating trans. And I'm like, 'I never once said that,'" she told ESPN. "I think that I am here to extend love. But I also think with that love is truth, being honest. And I want to protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn't have to go against biological men."
In the aftermath of her comments, which led to responses from just about everyone imaginable, including a statement from the White House, many people awaited Cunnningham's superstar teammate Caitlin Clark's take on the matter.
After weeks of not speaking to the media, Clark finally appeared before reporters and journalists on Sunday, but kept the focus squarely on basketball rather than embracing debate.
"I think, for us, it's not really a discussion we really have in our locker room," Clark responded after being asked about the subject following a loss to the Minnesota Lynx. "I think it's for leagues and the governing bodies to work with their athletes to find solutions, but our focus is on basketball. That's what we talk about and how we can get wins, and, obviously, we didn't do that tonight."

Well, McGregor announced today (Mon., Aug. 3, 2026) that he is officially headed under the knife.

Every IPO arrives with a promise. The market's job is to decide whether that promise deserves a premium or a reality check. That was the story on July 30, when Jersey Mike's Subs (JMKE) made its long-awaited debut on the New York Stock Exchange. Backed by Blackstone (BX) and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, the sandwich chain came to Wall Street with plenty of excitement, pricing its IPO at $23 per share.
The offering raised roughly $913 million, valuing the company at about $7.3 billion, with proceeds earmarked primarily to reduce debt and support general corporate needs. But instead of taking a victory lap, the stock stumbled out of the gate. Shares opened at $21 and ended their first trading session down about 5.7%, a reminder that even the hottest IPOs don't always get an "instant" standing ovation.

Mohammad Amir's new British citizenship could create a fresh complication for the Pakistan fast bowler ahead of the 2027 Pakistan Super League (PSL). Although Amir played as a domestic cricketer in the PSL until last season, he is now expected to be treated as an overseas player.

Amir spoke about the change during an appearance on Wisden's The Scoop Extended, revealing that his new citizenship status would affect how he is classified in the PSL. His British citizenship was confirmed in June after Nottinghamshire signed him for the 2026 Vitality Blast.

The move has already allowed Amir to be treated as a domestic player in English competitions. He also played for Trent Rockets in the 2026 edition of The Hundred after replacing David Payne.
The situation is different in Pakistan. Amir is expected to be classified as an overseas player in the PSL, meaning any team wanting him will have to use one of its foreign-player slots.

Amir played for Rawalpindi in PSL 2026 after being bought for PKR 5.4 crore in the league's first auction. He was among the team's major signings alongside Naseem Shah and Daryl Mitchell.

The change could create a problem because players retained or bought before PSL 2026 were given two-year contracts covering the 2026 and 2027 seasons. Under the PSL auction rules, teams can retain up to seven players for PSL 12, while released players return to the auction pool.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not yet clarified whether Rawalpindi can keep Amir under his existing deal after his status changes. The team may have to release him, renegotiate his contract or use an overseas-player slot to retain him.

Reports suggesting that PSL 2027 could be Amir's final season have not been confirmed by the cricketer, PCB or Rawalpindi.

For now, what is clear is that Amir holds a British passport, is treated as a domestic player in England and is expected to be an overseas player in the PSL. A formal PCB clarification on his Rawalpindi contract is still awaited.

Just a few hours before Juventus got on a plane and headed to Hong Kong for the first part of their preseason tour, they delivered quite the little treat for a fan base that has been hungry for some sort of transfer activity.
Not one, but two deals!
Juventus got their long-awaited reunion with Randal Kolo Muani. And, probably more surprising considering how unexpected the deal was, Juve signed Bosnian teenager Kerim Alajbegović in another one of those out-of-nowhere kind of deals that CEO Giovanni Carnevali has been done a couple of other times this season.
Both of them are expected to be key parts of a new-look Juve attack alongside Kenan Yildiz.
Quite the change from a week ago when we were wondering out loud when their next moves would actually be. Guess we got our answers, huh?

MINNEAPOLIS, MN. -- SummerSlam Sunday has ended, bringing the 2026 edition of the 'Biggest Party of the Summer' to a close. After an incredible night one, the WWE somehow matched its effort from a night ago and surpassed it in some regards.
Let's not waste any time, and get straight into the results from SummerSlam Sunday.
Kevin Owens defeats Sami Zayn, Finn Balor and Gunther to become the No. 1 contender for the WWE Championship
After the amazing opening match between Iyo Sky and Liv Morgan last night, the WWE understood the ******* ignment for tonight's opener. It was supposed to be a singles match between Finn Balor and Sami Zayn, but right before the bell rang, reinstated SmackDown GM Nick Aldis announced he'd be adding a competitor. It was Gunther, the man who defeated Aldis last night. Aldis then let Gunther enter the ring, before he announced one more addition to the match, a returning Kevin Owens. U.S. Bank Stadium absolutely erupted, as the crowd favorite was finally back after over 15 months of dealing with a neck injury.
That energy they gave KO remained for the entirety of this fun match. Owens came out of the gates hot, hitting swanton bombs all over the place, inside the ring and out. The match also saw the long awaited face-off between Sami and Owens who have a long history. The two hugged it out before mutually agreeing it was time to tear each other apart. Possibly the best spot of this match came when Gunther had Sami in the sleeper, and Finn Balor went up and simultaneously hit the Coup de Grace on Sami. Later, after giving stunners out to Balor and Gunther, Kevin and Sami battled it out one last time, when KO delivered a super kick, followed it up with a stunner, and pinned his best friend to earn the number one contendership, much to the delight of the crowd. Michael Cole said it best post match, "Welcome to the KO Show." The upcoming feud between him and CM Punk should be great.

To the editor: OSU is adding a JPMorgan Chase logo patch to all 36 varsity sport teams uniforms. The football team uniforms will also have a Nike logo and a Big Ten patch. In couple more years the uniforms will look like NASCAR driver suits. What next, naming rights for the team benches and medic tents? How about all the team support staff and managers having patches like the NASCAR pit crews? Next, they can add bus wraps for home and away rental busses with all kinds of additional sponsorships. Finally, we can start to add patches all over the uniforms of TBDBITL. Is the day very far away when the players and coaches will have to wear custom gear anytime they are on campus? The quest to grab more money to buy more players and build bigger facilities is beyond the pale.
Raymond D'Angelo, Westerville
To Raymond: If that's what it takes to pay the next Jeremiah Smith, I wouldn't put it past them. And neither would most of their fans.
Dear Brian: One thing became very clear after LeBron James announced his intent to take his talents (less than what they used to be) to Philadelphia: He never had any loyalty to the city, fan base or organization in Cleveland — a fan base that revered him, one that hoped he'd sign with the Cavs and end his career on a fairy tale note with one last hope of another championship. It was not to be. It was James' right to sign anywhere he wanted, no questioning that, but he was never the King of Cleveland, not even close. Yes, he helped bring a long-awaited championship to the city of Cleveland, and for that I am ever grateful! The Indians should have in 1997, but that is another story. It's apparent James didn't revere Cleveland as much as we would have liked to think. Remember him yelling "This is for you, Cleveland" after the Game 7 Finals victory in 2016? I think that was more about redemption for himself after he bungled the first free agency decision than about Cleveland ending its 52-year championship drought. The true face of Cleveland is Jose Ramirez. No doubt about it, not even close. The future Hall of Famer has shown his love for the city, the fans and the organization time and time again, signing extensions for less than what he could get on the open market. One could argue Joe Thomas and even Joel Bitonio are better representations of Cleveland than LeBron ever was. I'll always be grateful for the 2016 championship, but leave LeBron out of the King of Cleveland discussions.

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. — Vinny Busher looked out at the football field in front of him, a postcard setting backdropped by rolling green mountains and a cloudless blue sky.

Amazon (AMZN) stock is racing toward its best trading day in more than a decade following its Q2 results. A strong performance from its cloud-computing division is helping ease fears that the tech giant could lose ground to rival offerings from Microsoft (MSFT) and Google parent Alphabet (GOOGL).
"Amazon Web Services finally saw the long-awaited growth inflection, shooting to the top of the cloud wars as AI quarter-to-quarter revenue mimics Anthropic's meteoric rise," Bernstein ***** yst Mark Shmulik wrote to clients Friday following Amazon's report.
AWS revenue jumped 37% year over year for its June quarter, Amazon said late Thursday, sharply ahead of ***** ysts forecast for 31% growth. That 37% metric was "critical" for two reasons, Shmulik wrote.
"It's a roughly 9 percentage point acceleration in quarter-to-quarter (growth) that was stuck at 3%-4% per quarter for the past year — a much-needed visible acceleration in growth," Shmulik wrote. "And it's the growth rate required to put AWS at the top for most amount of incremental cloud dollars brought online across the hyperscalers this quarter."
The results were welcomed on Wall Street. Amazon stock rose 15% to 270.64 in afternoon trades on the stock market today.

Today in Boston Celtics history, the team traded for Minnesota Timberwolves star Kevin Garnett before the 2007-08 NBA regular season season, which ended in the hanging of the long-awaited Banner 17. Initially, Garnett hesitated to sign an extension with the Celtics if they dealt for him, due to the lack of high-caliber talent on the roster, apart from forward Paul Pierce. However, the earlier addition of sharpshooting UConn alum Ray Allen that summer proved enticing enough for KG to finalize the agreement. After, Garnett agreed to a three-year extension, supplementing the two remaining years on his current contract.
The history-altering deal was consummated soon after. The South Carolinian was dealt for Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Sebastian Telfair, Gerald Green, Theo Ratliff, cash, and draft considerations.
Garnett would win a ****** le with the team in 2008, be elected Defensive Player of the Year that season, make five All-Star games, and earn many more such honors during his six seasons with the team.
Five years before that date, in 2012, ex-Celtics center Jason Collins signed a contract with Boston. The Stanford alum played a mere 32 games with the franchise that season before he was traded to the Washington Wizards in February 2013. He averaged 1.2 points and 1.6 rebounds per contest over that stretch.
It is the date in 2009 that Boston waived one-time Celtics guard Gabe Pruitt, who had been drafted by the team out of USC with the 32nd pick of the 2007 NBA draft. The Los Angeles native put up 2 points a game across 62 games played in two seasons with Boston.

ORLANDO, Florida, July 28 (Reuters) - European and U.S. stock markets on Tuesday shrugged off a deep slump in Asia earlier in the day, following another sharp fall in oil prices and growing optimism around peace talks between the U.S. and Iran, while investors also awaited key tech earnings and the ‌Federal Reserve's policy decision.
In my column today, I look at whether high and rising bond yields will slam the brakes on Wall Street. Intuitively, there's a good ‌chance. But if rising borrowing costs are a reflection of stronger nominal growth and a healthy economy, then not necessarily.

Arne Slot frequently played midfielders at right-back in 2025/26 whenever Conor Bradley and/or Jeremie Frimpong were ruled out injured, with Dominik Szoboszlai, Curtis Jones and Wataru Endo all deployed in that unfamiliar role.
However, in response to a reader's question for the Liverpool Echo as to whether Andoni Iraola might do the same with Bajcetic, Ian Doyle opined that such a scenario would be highly unlikely and that the 21-year-old could plausibly depart on loan again.

LeBron James is on the Philadelphia 76ers. That's going to take some time getting used to typing out. The 41-year-old made his long-awaited free agency announcement on Friday morning. The last big domino fell in this summer's NBA offseason. He signed a two-year, $8 million contract.
Spending over three weeks to make his decision, James picked the one NBA team that most probably spent the least amount of time talking about. The Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat dominated most of the discourse, but they finished just short of landing the 22-time NBA All-Star.
So let me check my notes. We have James, Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey on the same team? Wow. Two former MVP winners, an NBA Finals MVP and a 30-point scorer. That's some star-studded stuff that rivals your typical All-NBA team. Talk about a summer for Philadelphia — who flipped Paul George for those two.
The Sixers have catapulted their way to the top of the leaderboard in the East. But what does James' decision mean for the Oklahoma City Thunder? Probably not a lot. At least not until next June at the earliest.
This has been one of the NBA's most blockbuster summers. It's the type of frantic movement that Shams Charania teased for last year. Of the two conferences, the East has seen the most shake-up. The New York Knicks are the reigning NBA champions. In response, the Miami Heat acquired Giannis Antetokounmpo. Brown went from the Boston Celtics to the Sixers. Now, James joins him in Philadelphia.

Tyson Fury will return to the ring today, boxing in a warm-up bout for his long-awaited fight against Anthony Joshua.
In Thailand, where Fury has been training throughout the past year, the British heavyweight will face ex-world-title challenger Mariusz Wach, one day before Joshua fights Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia.
• Fury vs Wach LIVE: Follow along with the Independent
Should Fury and his “AJ” win these contests, they will finally clash towards the end of this year, with a November showdown at Wembley Stadium possible – if the fight begins in the early hours of the morning, apparently.
Some might say that Fury, 37, has already had a warm-up for his planned fight with Joshua; in April, Fury ended his fifth retirement and outpointed Arslanbek Makhmudov in Tottenham. But the former world heavyweight champion wants to go again, facing Wach in a fight whose proceeds will go to charity, according to Fury.

The 21-year-old hasn’t played for the Reds since May 2024 and didn’t get a single minute on the pitch last season due to persistent injury problems, but he now seems closer than ever to finally being involved on matchday again.

The Spaniard has travelled with the LFC squad for their pre-season tour to the United States, and Andoni Iraola said earlier this week that the midfielder was ‘close to training with the group’.
On Thursday, Liverpool’s official website and social media channels posted images from the latest training session in Chicago, some of which showed Bajcetic being involved alongside his teammates on the grass, a significant step forward in his recovery.

This evening, the Los Angeles Rams held a season ticket holder special event to release their two alternate jerseys for the 2026 season. In a long awaited announcement, the Rams finally pulled back the curtain on their new threads to the NFL and Rams fans.
As speculated, the two new uniforms are tribute to past teams. In the 1940s and 1950s, the Rams wore yellow uniforms and that was first alternate revealed. The other is all white and blue uniform to honor the 1960s and the Fearsome Foursome teams.
The Rams are scheduled to wear the Classic Sol uniforms for Week 2 vs the New York Giants and Week 13 vs the Kansas City Chiefs. The Rams first "home" game will be in Week 2, so we will get to see those threads early on. The decision to wear them again in Week 13 against the Chiefs makes a lot of sense considering the Rams wore an all-yellow uniform in 2018 against the Chiefs in what went down as arguably the greatest regular season football game of all time. The Rams won 54-51 thanks to a Gerald Everett touchdown with less than 2 minutes remaining. The Chiefs-Rams game this year will also be on prime time television, Thursday Night Football presented by Amazon Prime.
The Fearsome White uniforms will be worn against the Green Bay Packers in the first ever Thanksgiving Eve game on November 25.
The Rams now have five uniform sets for the 2026 season. The modern white (2021), royal blue (2020), midnight navy (2025), fearsome white (2026), and classic sol (2026). Even the modern white and royal blue uniforms underwent "cosmetic adjustments" this offseason. The team is no longer planning to use the "bone" uniforms that were issued in 2020.
