According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, despite other team's recent inquiries, the Indianapolis Colts have no intentions of trading breakout defensive tackle Ade Adebawore ahead of the league's trade deadline:
With longtime veteran DeForest Buckner's departure, the 25-year-old Adebawore, who was originally a 2023 4th round pick by Indianapolis, is expected to immediately start full-time as his replacement going forward in 2026.
While those are big shoes to fill at 3T, Adebawore has had a standout campaign in a rotational role, recording 17 tackles (7 solo), a pass defensed, 4.0 sacks, and 15 total QB pressures during 7 games (1 start) this season.
Athletic, fast, twitchy, and featuring a surprisingly strong bull rush for his size at 6,'2", 282 pounds, Adebawore has really been flashing his immense athleticism so far this season and turning it into significant on-the-field production—albeit during rotational reps previously:
As a pending free agent in the last year of his current rookie contract, Adebawore appears to be an ascending young player and potential building block, who the rebuilding Colts would ******* uredly like to keep long-term defensively, with an ample amount of projected 2027 available team salary cap ******* e at $61.9M right now.

The fans have spoken.
We asked our readers to vote for their local pro or college sports mascot and the University of Cincinnati's Bearcat won in a landslide.
1,035 votes were cast, and the Bearcat earned 466 of them, good for a total of 45.1% of the whole shebang.
And naturally, the Bearcat's biggest opposition was Xavier University. The Blue Blob came in second place at 14.%, while the school's other mascot, D'Artagnan, finished third with 8.6%

Female athletes have spoken out against a controversial sports gambling advert starring actress Sydney Sweeney.
The advert has gone viral online and features American Sweeney naked but covering parts of her body with various pieces of sporting equipment.
It has sparked a strong reaction, with many female athletes criticising its ******* ualisation of women in sport, and how they are being defined by their appearance rather than their achievements as sportswomen.
Amy Hunt, who became a four-time European champion earlier this summer, referenced the advert after she ran a season's best 22.10 seconds to finish fourth in the 200m final at the Ultimate Championship in Budapest on Sunday.
"Sydney Sweeney, this is what women in sport look like," Hunt said in her post-race interview with BBC Sport.

ESPN College GameDay hasn't been the same since saying goodbye to the legendary Lee Corso one year ago. The 91-year-old Corso bid farewell to the iconic college football pregame show, but recently reconnected with his good friend Kirk Herbstreit.
This week, Herbstreit revealed that he met up with Corso before the start of the season, and shared some details from their emotional reunion.
In an article with US Weekly, discussed a meeting at the Orlando airport, where he and Corso got some quality time together.
"By the time I landed, there he is," Herbstreit said. "We hugged, embraced. He was emotional because we haven't seen each other in a while. When he cried, it made me cry. Because he's my guy. We were able to hang out for probably 20 or 30 minutes and just kind of get caught up."

Sophie Cunningham has become one of the most talked-about figures in women's basketball. Whether on or off the court, Cunningham's outspoken personality has built a large following for herself and has recently added a new platform to that reach.
The Indiana Fever guard launched a podcast called "No Hesitation" alongside trainer Drew Hanlen. Her debut episode was released on Thursday. During that episode, she addresses the storytelling path she believes the WNBA media should tread. Also, she highlights things she could do differently if she held certain governmental powers over the game.

So far in the season, Cunningham has averaged 8.3 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.3 ***** ists per game, demonstrating her central role to her team's success all-year-long. During the show, Cunningham touched on players' remuneration, the WNBA media coverage, and even the outgoing commissioner's office. An NFL-themed X page, Franco Vision, shares snippets from the conversation.
"We're always as players going to want more money, and as owners they're always not going to want to give it to you…"When it comes to media coverage, I think that we have good coverage now. Yes, it can always be better. Yes, it can be bigger."

After what has felt like the longest offseason in recent memory, the 2026-27 NBA season is right around the corner. In less than three weeks, all 30 teams will answer wide-ranging questions about their summer business and future expectations.
But why wait? Thanks to those of you who sent in inquiries of your own, let's get to it.
Yes, and more folks should be talking about this.
Do I think that the 56-win Celtics, after losing Brown to the rival 76ers, can replicate a similar model without one of the league's top-15ish players? Probably not.
Am I signing up for Mazzulla ball with an older, wiser Paul George (40% outside shooter on nearly seven attempts per game) bringing an efficient blend of creation, ****** ing and defensive versatility, Mitchell Robinson's possession-extending activity and Mike Conley's veteran savvy — with a healthy Jayson Tatum? Absolutely.

No. 8 Texas A&M (1-0) was slow out of the gate during Saturday night's season opener vs. Missouri State, as the Aggies' revamped offensive line struggled to find consistency, giving up several pressures and two sacks on starting quarterback Marcel Reed, but thanks to adjustments from coach Mike Elko and OL coach Adam Cushing, this group tightened up in the second half.
Leading 19-0 going into halftime, Texas A&M's defense shut down the Bears throughout the night, which continued into the third and fourth quarters, allowing 67 total yards, including a pedestrian 37 rushing yards. With A&M's O-line improvement, the Aggie rushing attack made its late impact, as wide receiver Terry Bussey, RB Jamarion Morrow, and freshman running back Carsyn Baker scored touchdowns.
Marcel Reed completed 21/30 for 233 yards and 2 touchdowns, completing impressive pass after impressive pass despite early pressure in his face, while transfer wide receiver Isaiah Horton made his impact known, leading the game with 76 receiving yards and his first touchdown as an Aggie.
Before hosting Arizona State on Saturday, here are the latest Pro Football Focus grades on offense and defense after Texas A&M's 50-0 win over Missouri State in Week 1.

Well, that was quite the week.
Everton are increasingly resembling one of those challenge scenarios on Football Manager Mobile –
"owners who want to sell and have turned the taps off, a weakened squad and your contract is running down. Ensure the CEO is not happily dissatisfied "
Or maybe a social experiment designed to test the limits of human endurance, or maybe both?
The speed of the unravelling of the transfer window was spectacular even by Everton's standards, though David Moyes' demeanour over the summer suggests these issues have been bubbling under the surface for some time.

It could only have come from the heart of the Massa. And so it was, amid the Street of Fire created by the supporters, that Galo's new third kit came to life last Tuesday (1st). Tattoo artist Thiago Scap and supporter Lucas Gusmão wore the kit for the first time among the Atlético fans who guided the Club bus's arrival at Arena MRV. Inside the stadium, rapper Djonga was also one of the first to wear the new shirt, straight from the stands. Now, Nike and Atlético officially present all the details of the new kit for the season. Inspired by one of the most striking traditions of Atlético supporters, the new shirt celebrates the 'Street of Fire,' the blazing human corridor of flares, pyrotechnics, and chants created by the Massa to welcome the team bus before major matches.
FROM THE FIRE OF THE STREETS TO THE OFFICIAL SHIRT
Born in the narrow streets around Horto, consecrated at Mineirão, and perpetuated at Arena MRV, the Street of Fire is the ultimate moment when the Atleticano's unshakable belief becomes unconditional support. It is the ritual in which the first goal starts being scored outside the stadium, building an unbreakable bond between supporters and players.
The new third shirt translates that energy burning in the streets and in the hearts of Atleticanos into high-performance design. The same flame that guides the bus's arrival now dresses the team on the pitch.
"The Street of Fire represents the connection between Atlético and the Massa: the ability to turn passion into strength for the team. The third shirt carries that flame beyond the streets and beyond matchdays, as a permanent symbol of the energy the supporters bring into the stadium," says Renato Aguiar, marketing director at Fisia, Nike's official distributor in Brazil.

Tony Romo pleaded no contest Tuesday morning to his July arrest for driving while intoxicated in Wisconsin, then posted a 330-word statement explaining his dependence on alcohol and how he's getting help currently.
Romo, who played 13 seasons in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys, was arrested July 23 in Milwaukee County and charged with operating while intoxicated (OWI). Following the arrest, CBS Sports placed Romo on leave after he had served with Jim Nantz as part of the network's No. 1 NFL broadcast duo since 2017. Houston Texans legend J.J. Watt has moved into Romo's spot alongside Nantz.
There has been no further announcement from the network about Romo's future with the company, but he made it clear Tuesday that he intends to return.
"I am deeply grateful for the support of my family, my friends and the NFL community, including players, coaches and owners. Your encouragement has meant more to me than you know," Romo wrote on the post he made on Instagram. "As I turn my attention to my health, my family, and, in time, my return to CBS, I kindly ask for privacy during this period. God bless."
Romo added that he's been dealing with "constant, debilitating pain" ever since his playing career ended at 36 years old following multiple back surgeries.

I felt as though I was watching Alex Scott take his game to yet another level in Bournemouth's 1-1 draw with Everton.
The technical excellence has always been there, but now he is beginning to dictate games.
Scott uses his body so well, and demands the ball even in tight areas of the pitch. It's his awareness that is making him stand out right now and we haven't even delved into his extensive passing range, or indeed his superbly taken goal against Everton.
Scott has recently turned 23. In midfielder terms, he's entered into the golden years, where quality, fitness, and experience begin to intertwine to great effect.
He's clearly got his admirers. Chelsea have courted Scott extensively in recent weeks. We'll see in the days ahead if they're genuinely willing to test Bournemouth's hard-nosed stance towards selling him.

The Los Angeles Rams closed out the 2026 preseason with a win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday and can now look ahead to the regular season. Problem is, they still don't know whether their eight-time All-Pro is coming out of retirement.
The Aaron Donald situation remains "up in the air" with less than two weeks until the Rams take on the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1, Sean McVay said Thursday, per Pro Football Talk.
"I think all of those things are up in the air," McVay said. "I wish I had a little bit better ability to give you some clarity, but it's really one of those deals that, what we're doing we're focusing on this football team. Aaron knows that if he wants to be able to do that, that's something that we absolutely want to be able to entertain and figure out, and that's really all there is to it right now."
Donald, now 35, hasn't played since the 2023 season, but has flirted with coming out of retirement in 2026. Donald went so far as to attend a "tryout" with the Rams. That, apparently, went very well, with McVay saying the former All-Pro "looked outstanding."
Since then, there have been no new updates on Donald's status. With time running out, Donald will need to make a decision soon on whether he'll put his pads on one more time in pursuit of another championship.

The Champions League draw is another reminder that Aston Villa are back among the elite - but also how much change there has been.
Europa League winners Villa, returning to the competition after a season away, will host defending champions Paris St-Germain and Borussia Dortmund.
Trips to Barcelona and Galatasaray add an extra sparkle while Unai Emery's side also face Club Brugge, Fenerbahce, Viking and Slavia Prague.
PSG's visit will naturally evoke the memories of the 2025 quarter-final when Villa so nearly upset the eventual winners with a memorable comeback.
Although it will be a very different Aston Villa side which will face the defending champions, with Emi Martinez's move to Chelsea and Ollie Watkins' switch to Al-Hilal due to go through before the deadline.

Tonight marked the sixteenth Philadelphia Eagles training camp practice ahead of the 2026 NFL season. Here's what I observed from the team's one and only public session of the summer at Lincoln Financial Field!
EAGLES INJURY REPORT:
IN-PRACTICE INJURIES:
OT Lane Johnson seemed to get banged up early in practice. He went to the sideline and talked to a trainer. He remained on the sideline for the rest of practice with a helmet in his hand. He did seem to be shaking his left leg around at times. Fred Johnson filled in for Lane at right tackle (no practice for Markel Bell).
DT Jordan Davis suffered an upper body injury and was looked at by trainers. He put a brace on his arm and returned to team drills.

In college football, as in so many other facets of life, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
When games have yet to kick off and there's nothing off of which to judge a team other than roster retention, coaching changes, depth charts, statistical projections and, most of all, vibes, that's especially true.
Entering the 2026 season, there's a wide variance of opinion on a number of teams, including some that found their way into the preseason US LBM Coaches Poll. Some are programs that have struggled the past few years, but have been re-energized by the arrival of a new coach. Others are historic powerhouses that have faded recently, but still have built-in name recognition and goodwill.

The Red Sox will try to complete a sweep against the Giants after beating San Francisco on Saturday in dramatic fashion.

"I think we've been that way for a while now, where it's like, we might lose, but you're gonna get our best all the way down to the last strike, the last pitch, and they've been doing that for a while," Red Sox manager Chad Tracy said.

Quarterback Geno Smith's first game action since returning to the Jets couldn't have gone much better.
Smith, who sat out last week with a sore ankle, played the first possession of Friday night's game against the Steelers and went 7-of-7 for 65 yards. His final pass was a 13-yard touchdown to tight end Jelani Woods and head coach Aaron Glenn said after the game that it was just what the team hoped to see from the veteran.
"Very very efficient, he looked very comfortable," Glenn said, via the team's website. "Exactly what we were looking for. But again, we still have some things we got to work on because our run game wasn't where it needs to be."
Glenn said there's been no decision about playing Smith in the preseason finale next week. Whatever that call turns out to be, Friday night's outing left the Jets feeling comfortable with the prospect of having Smith back in the saddle for the 2026 season.

This week had absolutely everything you could hope for: an upset that sent an NSL side home from the Canadian Championship, seven goals in Calgary, a stoppage-time winner in Vancouver and a Montréal side that walked away from Toronto with another clean sheet.
With the regular season moving deeper into August, every result is starting to tilt the playoff scales. Here's how the latest run of action unfolded.
Wednesday, Aug. 12 | Stade Boréale, Laval, Quebec | Canadian Championship quarterfinal
Simcoe County Rovers FC did not look like an underdog when the whistle blew. They bloomed into a team that had decided the occasion belonged to them.
Just three minutes into the match, Teagan Handley swung a corner into the box and Tia Schaffer rose above the crowd to bury a header. The early goal gave Simcoe something valuable against an experienced Montréal side: confidence.

Danny Kanell and Dusty Dvoracek's SiriusXM show is ending, but both are getting fresh starts on the satellite radio platform.
According to On3's Brett McMurphy, Dusty and Danny In The Morning is ending its five-year run on Friday. However, neither host is leaving. Kanell will remain in the morning time slot and be paired with a new co-host, while Dvoracek moves to the afternoon slot. Per McMurphy, the move is due to Dvoracek's need for greater flexibility due to an increased role at ESPN.
Dvoracek has been seeing his star continually rise in recent years as a college football broadcaster with the Worldwide Leader. He's also become a fixture on SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt. He's become one of the top college football **** ysts at ESPN, where he even called a College Football Playoff game in 2024. Awful Announcing readers put him and Dave Pasch at No. 5 overall in our most recent college football rankings.
Kanell spent several years at ESPN before joining SiriusXM. He's also an **** yst for CBS Sports and a co-host of the Cover 3 podcast. The former Florida State quarterback has developed a reputation for his strong ACC bias and hatred of all things SEC.
The post Danny Kanell, Dusty Dvoracek reportedly ending SiriusXM show appeared first on Awful Announcing.
