Ray Fisher became internationally recognizable as the technologically enhanced superhero Cyborg, but his career began far from the world of comic book blockbusters. The American actor developed his craft through theater before making the leap to major Hollywood productions. His upbringing, particularly the influence of his mother and grandmother, helped shape the values he later carried into his professional life. When Fisher encountered difficulties behind the scenes of Justice League, he chose to speak publicly about his experience. That decision became an important part of a career increasingly ****** ociated with both performance and workplace accountability.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Fisher grew up in Lawnside, New Jersey, in a large family raised primarily by his mother and grandmother. He has described both women as his real life superheroes, praising the determination and strength they demonstrated while he was growing up. His interest in acting became serious during high school, when encouragement from a teacher led him to audition for theatrical productions.
Fisher continued developing as a stage performer and eventually established himself in professional theater. One of his most demanding early roles was Muhammad Ali in the Off Broadway production Fetch Clay, Make Man. Preparing to portray the legendary boxer required substantial physical transformation as well as the ability to capture Ali's confidence and personality. The experience demonstrated the discipline Fisher could bring to a role before Hollywood audiences became familiar with him.
His major screen opportunity arrived when Zack Snyder selected him to play Victor Stone, better known as Cyborg, in the DC film universe. Fisher made a brief appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice before receiving a much larger role in Justice League. Production changed significantly after Snyder left the project and Joss Whedon took over during post production. The theatrical version released in 2017 reduced much of Cyborg's original storyline.
In 2020, Fisher publicly accused Whedon of inappropriate and unprofessional behavior during the Justice League reshoots. WarnerMedia subsequently conducted an investigation after Fisher raised concerns involving the production. In December 2020, the company announced that the investigation had concluded and that remedial action had been taken, without publicly detailing what those measures involved.

Hartnett says he continued acting but pursued smaller projects outside Hollywood's biggest productions
After finishing Black Hawk Down at 22, he took a year off and wrote a screenplay
He previously said he declined roles like Superman and Batman to maintain control over his career
Josh Hartnett is opening up about what some view as a step back from acting — arguing he was still working, just not in the big Hollywood projects for which he had become known.
The actor, 48, was interviewed by Out Of Order, when he was asked if he takes "offense" to the idea that he was "on hiatus" from the film industry for two decades.

Channing Tatum admitted that fatherhood sometimes forced him to drop the superhero act. The actor opened up about vulnerability after premiering Josephine at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The 46-year-old star played a father confronting trauma alongside his young daughter. His character's struggle also pushed Tatum to reflect on his relationship with his daughter, Everly.
PEOPLE reported that Tatum discussed fatherhood during a TIFF Q&A. He played Damien, a father trying to help his eight-year-old daughter after a traumatic event. Damien encouraged his daughter to learn self-defense while his wife, Claire, took another approach. The role apparently mirrored Tatum's own instinct to protect Everly from life's harder moments.
"It's a really tough thing to tell the little being that you love more than anything," Tatum said during the Q&A. He admitted he once told Everly, "I'm just not okay right now." The actor explained that parents often want children to see them as invincible. "You always wanna be like the strongest person, like the Superman in their life," he said. "Sometimes you just can't."
Tatum shares Everly with ex-wife Jenna Dewan. The former couple welcomed her in 2013 before separating in 2018. He had also recently reflected on how quickly Everly grew up. During a January appearance on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle, Tatum described returning from a two-week press trip.

For almost three decades, fans of Law & Order: SVU have watched Mariska Hargitay bring Captain Olivia Benson to life. As the show continues to enjoy incredible success and a devoted fan base, Mariska has another special connection to SVU: It's where she met her husband of 22 years, Peter Hermann.
To look back at the 2026 Emmy Awards host and the actor's relationship, we need to start at the beginning. The two met in early 2002 on the set of Law & Order: SVU. The show was in its third season, and Peter was brought on to play a defense attorney in a guest-starring role.
During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show in January 2022, Mariska revealed she thought Peter was one of the best-looking men she'd ever seen.
"[I thought], 'Who is that Clark Gable, Superman guy that I need to marry today?'' she joked at the time. "I was nervous because I heard he was German and I didn't know what to do."
When Peter's time on SVU ended, he surprised Mariska by asking her on a date to a church service.

Sydney Sweeney dressed up as Wonder Woman in a daring latex-inspired costume for a recent getaway, while her boyfriend, Scooter Braun, coordinated as Superman. But instead of praising the couple's superhero-themed looks, some fans called the costumes "weird" and "cheap."
In an Instagram photo dump shared on August 22, the Euphoria actress gave followers a glimpse into her "Camp '26" getaway, which featured waterside obstacle courses, karaoke, boat rides, jet skiing and more.
The first photo showed the 28-year-old posing in a revealing red PVC-style Wonder Woman costume with a sweetheart neckline. The outfit featured a silver rope detail around the faux belt, while she completed the look with Wonder Woman's signature gold tiara.

In the mirror selfie, Sweeney held up her phone to take the photo while Braun, 45, stood behind her in a Superman costume, although the top of his head was cut off from the frame.

Sydney Sweeney channelled one of television's most iconic superheroes as she slipped into a plunging Wonder Woman costume for a fun-filled getaway with boyfriend Scooter Braun.
The Euphoria star, 28, looked sensational in the strapless red, blue and gold ensemble, which appeared to take its inspiration from the costume worn by Lynda Carter in the classic 1970s television series.
Sydney completed her transformation with Wonder Woman's signature gold tiara, metallic cuffs and knee-high red boots, wearing her blonde hair loose around her shoulders.

While the robots have certainly captured the attention of the internet, they're exciting investors, too. Aug. 10—PULLMAN — Jeremiah Bernard left his feet and dove like he was Superman about to snuff out a local crime. The ball had just left the hands of Owen Eshelman, one of three Washington State quarterbacks vying for starting duties, and it was headed for a receiver toward the sideline of Rogers Practice Field.
It never made it there. Bernard made sure of that, roving over from the safety position and laying out to break up the pass, a feat of athleticism and football savvy. He leapt to his feet in a second, in a heartbeat, the moment's adrenaline propping him back up as quickly as he had soared through the air.
"The guys that we brought in, we're hoping they're gonna be what they are," WSU safeties coach Greg Burns said, "and they're working their **** s off."
A transfer from FCS Cal Poly, Bernard certainly fits that bill, a junior safety who is well on his way to earning a starting role in the Cougs' secondary this fall. Bernard, 6-foot and 196 pounds, doesn't just look the part. He plays like it too, making plays like that seem routine, like they're just in his bag.
How does Bernard fit into WSU's defense? For one, he's a face in a crowded WSU safety room, which also includes San Jose State transfer Jaylen Thomas, Arizona transfer Jshawn Frausto-Ramos and Arizona State transfer Jack Bal. That's without mention ing returners like Kyle Peterson and Kayo Patu, both of whom could also secure roles on this year's defense.

Former Superman actor Dean Cain has been forced to eat his words after a failed attempt to discredit rising Democratic star Abdul El-Sayed.
Cain, a 60-year-old vocal supporter of Donald Trump, tried to go after the Michigan Democratic nominee for Senate in a social media post after El-Sayed, 41, made a jab at Trump on CNN Sunday.
"Has anyone ever seen a photo of Michigan Senate candidate Abdulrahman Mohamed El Sayed (D) playing High School football?" the Cain wrote in an X post. "He says he was captain of the team, but I can't find a single photo. Internet, please do your thing."
Cain's replies were filled almost instantly with pictures of El-Sayed in football gear, with X users pointing out that the politician had shared one of the pictures himself on Instagram in March.
"This literally took 2 seconds," one X user wrote. Another commented: "Wow - that's your (failed) attempt at a 'gotcha'? I'd say stick with acting but ***** ody is interested in seeing that."

Clev Lubin's sack celebrations are a mixed bag.
Louisville's senior defensive lineman uses each as an added element of entertainment for spectators and has been known to have a few at his disposal: rolling dice — signifying how he bets on himself — and the "Karate Kid" crane kick pose are just a couple.
But the one that means the most and will be seen the most this season pays homage to his Haitian heritage. Lubin combines the popularized Superman move (pretending to rip open one's shirt in the chest area) with throwing up the "Z" (the two thumbs connect with one palm facing him and the other turned backwards).
Lubin did it so much at practices during his time at Army that one teammate, who was also Haitian, referred to him as "Zuperman" instead of Superman. He debuted the combination move at Iowa Western Community College and brought it two years later to Louisville, where he led the team in sacks, tackles for loss and forced fumbles in his Cardinals debut.
"When I went to JUCO, I started doing the celebration, so that's just stuck with me," Lubin said. "That's kind of my little thing right there."

One of the biggest impressions that Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams made during his standout sophomore campaign was his clutch performance, earning himself the nickname of "The Iceman" as he captivated the NFL audience and **** ysts alike.
Williams, who orchestrated an NFL record seven comebacks for the Bears last season, still has shown there are areas in which he needs to progress his development and going into his second year under Ben Johnson. If he can make those leaps, he'll continue to turn heads.
The clutch gene that Williams displayed last year has helped bring in praise from former quarterbacks and current **** ysts, including Matt Hasselbeck. During a recent appearance on "The Herd" with Colin Cowherd, Hasselbeck discussed Williams' clutch ability, calling it a trait that is hard to find among even the most elite players in the NFL.
"The best thing I could say about Caleb Williams is he has a clutch gene that is really hard to find," Hasselbeck said. "You can do all the great practicing and all the great, you know, 7-on-7 and all the whatever, but the elite quarterbacks, the elite playmakers, they have that clutch gene, and he absolutely showed that he has that."
Williams' biggest criticism has been his low completion percentage, and the Bears coaching staff, along with the quarterback himself, have made it clear that it's a focus this season. While the heroics and comebacks have been a thrilling watch, the Bears and their star young quarterback will undoubtedly benefit from more consistency and starting out on a more productive note in the beginning of games, not needing a Superman cape to will them to victories this upcoming season.

Long before James Gunn produced Supergirl, he and his wife, Jennifer Holland, had their meet-cute because of a famous comic book villain.
Gunn, 59, and Holland, 38, attended the Supergirl world premiere on June 22 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York, where she spoke about how the Superman franchise has been a major throughline in their love.

From Broadway and Big Brother to beauty routines and Bowie-inspired glam, Frankie Grande is ready to tell his story.
In Supergay!, his new memoir, Grande revisits the many versions of himself he tried on over the years — from frat brother, to Broadway performer, to the unapologetically flamboyant star fans know today. In the excerpt ahead, he uses superheroes and secret identities to explain how he got there.
To be your best superhero, you must have an alter ego to hide behind so people can't figure out who you are. Think Bruce Wayne, Peter Parker, King T'Challa, Steve Rogers, Diana Prince, Bruce Banner, the list goes on and on. Clark Kent isn't gay (that we know of) but his secret identity is about as well-hidden as a flaming ******* . All Clark Kent does is restyle his hair and throw on grandpa glasses and ******* ody has any idea who he is. And we just lean into that even though it's absolutely ridiculous, and we can all tell that Clark Kent is Superman. Just because you parted your hair differently, we're not supposed to know that's you? OK. Cool. Whatever you say.
This Clark Kent phenomenon happens to gay people a lot. Even if you're obviously gay, people just pretend you're straight because:
They don't want to be rude by ******* uming you're gay (but guess what, it's not an insult!);
They don't want to out you (fair);
They don't give AF; or
They're super religious and are praying the gay away in their heads.
