WASHINGTON (AP) — The Group of Seven wealthy democracies said Friday that they plan to release 100 million barrels of oil and fuel products in the coming weeks, starting with "substantial" amounts of diesel after the fuel recently hit record high prices in the United States.
President Donald Trump said the diesel release would happen "immediately," echoing a G7 promise to start "immediately" with a "frontloaded substantial release" of diesel within the next 20 days and the rest over four months.
Trump and his Republican Party face pressure to address surging prices ahead of the Nov. 3 midterm elections, and Trump announced the action Friday on social media. The president's approval ratings on the economy hit a new low, according to an AP-NORC poll, as the Iran war and his trade battles have increased U.S. prices for oil and other goods.
Gas prices in the U.S. and abroad have soared during the eight-month-long war, a cost Trump has repeatedly said is worth it for making sure Iran does not obtain nuclear weapons. The national average for a gallon of diesel in the U.S. was $6.37 on Friday, according to AAA, after hitting a record $6.52 on Sept. 22. Diesel prices have hit records in Europe, too.
France holds the rotating presidency of the G7 group and made the announcement in a statement released after videoconference talks that Macron presided over. The G7 countries are Canada, France, Germany, Italy, ******* an, the U.K. and the U.S., plus EU representation.

Super Micro Computer (SMCI) stock rose 9.5% on Thursday, September 17, closing just over $40. The move followed a bullish call on how big the market for AI servers gets. That call may well be right. But it answers a question Super Micro's own results never raised. That is why one big session tells you less than it looks like it does.
Analysts at Goldman Sachs said the addressable market for AI servers will expand aggressively through the end of the decade. That is a forecast about an industry rather than about one manufacturer. Another account of Thursday morning's climb credited a broader equity rebound after Wednesday afternoon's Federal Reserve rate decision, not the forecast. Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) jumped 8.0% the same day against the S&P 500's 1.1% gain, showing that capital was rotating heavily into primary AI server makers.
Company-specific headlines that day ran the other way: after the close, a shareholder rights law firm issued a press release soliciting clients for a potential investigation into company management.
A bigger market is not what this company is short of. In its fiscal fourth quarter, ended June 2026, Super Micro booked over $60 billion of new orders. That backlog underpins management's fiscal 2027 revenue guidance of $65 billion to $72 billion—up sharply from the $39 billion booked over the prior twelve months, but spread out as delivery and deployment constraints allow customers to take delivery.
What it is short of is customers ready to take delivery. Super Micro sells data center building block solutions, which bundle the servers with the power, cooling, networking and software around them. The company's manufacturing capability is on track to include more than 3,000 direct liquid-cooled racks a month.

The Braves are rotating their lineup a bit to mitigate the Phillies' ability to play the matchup game. Instead of Harris batting cleanup behind Olson, Albies bats cleanup between the two as a deterrent against lefty relievers. Additionally, Mauricio Dubon replaces Mike Yastrzemski in left field.

Meanwhile, the Phillies shuffle their outfielders, facing the righty Mahle instead of the lefty Sale.

At the beginning of the week, Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell dropped an interesting update that the left guard position was still up for grabs in the lead up to the team's season opener against the New Orleans Saints. Incumbent Christian Mahogany and free agent addition Ben Bartch were to split reps in practice all week, and Campbell even said he'd consider rotating the two in the game if a leader hadn't emerged in the competition.
But on Friday, Campbell gave a little clarity on the situation, suggesting that Mahogany will start on Sunday.
"I don't know. It's a good question. I'm still thinking about that. There's probably a good chance Mahogany starts," Campbell said.
Now, of course, who starts the game and who finishes it could very different. Campbell's comments are vague enough to suggest that the guard rotation could continue and/or Mahogany could be on a short leash. He could even change his mind before Sunday. Campbell did note that both players have played well in the two practices thus far this week.
"I thought both of those guys did a really good job in practice," Campbell said.

New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh has never viewed leadership as something that should belong exclusively to the players wearing a captain's patch.
That philosophy dates back to his time with the Baltimore Ravens, where Harbaugh routinely used a player leadership council while also rotating game-day captains throughout the season.
The leadership council gave veteran players a direct voice in the operation of the team. Members were voted on by their teammates and met with Harbaugh to discuss everything from team issues to practice schedules. Harbaugh made it clear, however, that the council was not the only source of leadership inside the locker room.
"We feel like we've got leadership throughout the roster," Harbaugh said in 2022. "We want to honor that and recognize that -- that we're a team and that we have a team of leaders."
Game-day captains were handled differently. Rather than naming a permanent group for the season, Harbaugh selected captains on a week-to-week basis. The choices could change depending on circumstances, the opponent, or simply an opportunity to recognize a particular player's leadership.

The Philadelphia Eagles are less than ten days away from opening up the 2026 regular season, and it wouldn't be shocking to see the defense far ahead of a revamped offensive unit. Vic Fangio's defense is among the NFL's best, and his personnel will change with the situation, making a traditional 11-player depth chart less useful than identifying his primary packages.
Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, and Moro Ojomo should anchor the defensive line, with Ty Robinson and Byron Young rotating heavily enough to receive meaningful snaps. Carter will remain the interior pass-rush centerpiece, while Davis' conditioning should allow him to handle another substantial workload.
Nolan Smith is projected to start on one edge. Jonathan Greenard was acquired to start opposite him, but his uncertain Week 1 availability could push Jalyx Hunt into the opening lineup. Epenesa and Ebiketie provide experienced rotational depth. Zack Baun and Jihaad Campbell give the Eagles two linebackers capable of rushing, covering, and defending the run. Trotter should remain involved, particularly in packages that allow Campbell to move toward the line of scrimmage.
Riq Woolen and Quinyon Mitchell project as the outside cornerbacks, with Cooper DeJean operating from the slot. DeJean's versatility also allows Fangio to move him to safety and insert Carter into the nickel role. Mukuba and Epps are the projected starting safeties, but Philadelphia's actual secondary could contain six defensive backs on obvious passing downs.
The depth gives Fangio several options. The primary Week 1 question is whether Philadelphia can generate enough edge pressure if Greenard is unavailable.

Seagate gained 6.3% and Western Digital rose 5.9% on September 4 even as the S&P 500 fell 0.4%. The pairing was consistent with investors rotating toward profitable storage infrastructure rather than making a random defensive trade. Generative AI creates enormous data sets, checkpoints, logs, and retrieval stores, so the storage layer can benefit even when investors are less willing to pay for distant software profits. Seagate Technology Holdings plc (NASDAQ:STX) and Western Digital Corporation (NASDAQ:WDC) represent different ways to express that demand.
Source: Seagate
Seagate is the mass-capacity hard-drive specialist. In its latest fiscal-year release, management attributed performance to robust cloud data-center demand and argued that AI-driven data creation should support durable demand for high-capacity storage. The bull case is economic density: hyperscalers still need low-cost capacity behind expensive compute. The bear case is concentration and cyclicality. A few cloud buyers can change purchasing schedules quickly, and areal-density transitions can disrupt yields or costs.
Insider Monkey's filings database counted 131 hedge funds holding Seagate Technology Holdings plc (NASDAQ:STX) at June 30, up from 93 at March 31. Palestra Capital Management, managed by Andrew Immerman and Jeremy Schiffman, reported 386,123 shares, about 31% more than the 294,000 shares disclosed in Q1. That growing cohort indicates wider professional participation, not a guarantee that managers still held the shares when they rallied.
Western Digital offers exposure to hard drives after the Sandisk separation simplified its public-company story. Its appeal is similar: higher-capacity drives can monetize the expanding archive behind AI training and inference. The bear case is that cloud customers have purchasing leverage, while rapid shifts between flash, disk, and emerging architectures can change the mix more quickly than depreciation schedules do.

Wall Street delivered a sharp split on September 4. The S&P 500 fell 0.4% after a stronger-than-expected jobs report lifted rate concerns, but Sandisk jumped 11.9% and Micron gained 6.1%. The divergence matters because it was not a broad risk-on move. The pattern was consistent with investors rotating toward memory and storage suppliers that help keep AI systems fed with data. That put Sandisk Corporation (NASDAQ:SNDK) and Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU) at the center of the session.
Source: Sandisk Corporation
Sandisk offers the purer NAND and flash-storage argument. Its August results established data center as a key growth pillar, and management said it had signed five more new-business-model agreements since April. The bull case is that AI expands high-value enterprise storage demand while tighter supply supports pricing. The bear case is cyclicality: customer agreements cannot eliminate inventory swings, pricing reversals, or the execution risk that comes with a newly independent public company.
Professional ownership broadened before Friday's rally. Insider Monkey counted 128 hedge funds holding Sandisk Corporation (NASDAQ:SNDK) at June 30, up from 114 at March 31. Leopold Aschenbrenner's Situational Awareness LP disclosed 2,495,344 shares, about 119% more than the 1,140,119 shares reported in Q1. Those filings are quarter-end snapshots and do not show what the funds did during the September move.
Micron supplies both high-bandwidth memory and conventional DRAM and NAND. Its fiscal third-quarter revenue reached $41.46 billion, while Cloud Memory revenue rose to $13.77 billion and Core Data Center revenue to $11.52 billion. That operating leverage is the bull case. The counterargument is that extraordinary margins invite capacity additions, and today's scarcity economics may normalize faster than investors expect.

XRP (CRYPTO: XRP) is up 9.3% over the past 24 hours as of 4:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026, after Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller told Reuters that the Fed could hold rates steady at its upcoming meeting.
The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite finished Thursday's trading up 1.1% and 1.4%, respectively.

Waller said on Thursday that he would support leaving interest rates unchanged if he likes what he sees from the August inflation report. He said he would prefer to let prices moderate on their own and "refrain from prematurely raising rates to allow a cooling process to play out."
U.S. Treasury yields, which have been trading near multi-decade highs, eased slightly today as well. These two factors led to investors rotating back into riskier ******* ets like Bitcoin and other cryptos like XRP.

Gloria Steinem, who passed away at the age of 92 on September 2, 2026, was many things: co-founder of "Ms." magazine, second-wave feminist icon, and even stepmother to Christian Bale. (Who knew?) She was also, throughout her life, a serious fashionista. Some may believe such a passion is necessarily at odds with a dedication to feminism, and Steinem certainly had many critics who questioned her focus on fashion, but she viewed her style as an extension of her activism, not a conflict of interest. Gloria Steinem's beauty philosophy went hand-in-hand with her feminist ideals, and so did her approach to fashion.
Michael Ochs Archives/Getty
"Fashion in the past meant conforming and losing oneself," Steinem pointed out in the 2011 HBO documentary about her life, "Gloria: In Her Own Words," but "fashion in the present means being unique and finding oneself," she continued. For Steinem, that came to mean a "power outfit" (above) that often included a fitted Henley shirt, flared jeans, a low-slung belt, funky jewelry, and a rotating collection of political badges and ******* ons, topped with her iconic aviator glasses and highlighted hair teased to the sky. There was a purpose to her style beyond expression and confidence, however. "She made it okay to be attractive and to be a feminist," friend and designer Diane von Furstenberg told Glamour.

Dollar General beat the $2 EPS consensus with $2.48 and raised full-year guidance, while Dollar Tree fell 4% in the same session.
With XRT falling 1% and SPY rising, Dollar General's rally reads as market-share capture rather than a broad discount-retail recovery.

Dollar General (NYSE:DG) stock is leading the discount-retail sector higher Thursday after a clean second-quarter beat and a raised full-year outlook, while Dollar Tree (NASDAQ:DLTR) stock is going the other way in the same session. The split is telling because retail as a whole is trading lower on a day equities are grinding higher, so the group isn't simply rotating into defensives.
Dollar General stock is up 5% to $128.90, clawing back part of a decline that had left the shares down 6% year to date through Wednesday's close. Meanwhile, Dollar Tree stock is down 3% to $128.76, giving back a lead that had it up 7% year to date through Wednesday's close.

The biggest question regarding the New York Giants heading into 2026 has been whether their defense can rise above its dismal performances in 2024 and 2025.
It was a bit of a surprise when the Giants hired former Tennessee ******* ans defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson when names like Jim Leonard or Wink Martindale were being bandied about. However, Wilson is both familiar with the "Ravens" style of defense and has a history of producing excellent secondaries.
One of the prime concerns regarding the Giants' roster was their defensive secondary. In particular, those on the outside were concerned about the cornerback position opposite Paulson Adebo. It was widely expected that Greg Newsome II would be the starting corner opposite Adebo, with rookie Colton Hood rotating in and eventually supplanting him.
Instead, the Giants have rotated their starting corners with Adebo, Newsome, Deonte Banks, and Hood all getting reps with the starters.
"Right now, I see a bunch of young men trying to get better," Wilson said. "Every day they're going out there and they're competing against our offense. You've seen them in the games that we had in the preseason and in the preseason practice. They're coming out there and trying to detail their work. Right now, everybody's fighting to play, and I like where they're all at."

Guinness Global Innovators, an investment management company, recently released its Q2 2026 quarterly investor update for its "Guinness Global Innovators Fund". You can download the letter here. The Guinness Global Innovators Fund focuses on investing in global companies that benefit from innovation in technology, communication, globalization, and management strategies. In the second quarter of 2026, the Guinness Global Innovators Fund returned 13.8% in GBP, compared with 13.0% for the MSCI World Index and 13.1% for the IA Global sector average. Easing Middle East tensions, falling oil prices, and renewed enthusiasm for artificial intelligence helped reverse much of the caution seen earlier in the year, with investors rotating back toward growth stocks and AI infrastructure beneficiaries. The Fund benefited from its overweight position in the Information Technology sector, while its overweight position in Communication Services detracted. Avoiding weaker Utilities, Materials, and Energy also supported relative performance. Also, please check the Fund's top five holdings to see its best picks for 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Guinness Global Innovators Fund highlighted KLA Corporation (NASDAQ:KLAC) as a notable contributor. KLA Corporation (NASDAQ:KLAC) designs, manufactures, and markets process control, process-enabling, and yield management solutions for the semiconductor and related electronics industries worldwide. On August 21, 2026, KLA Corporation (NASDAQ:KLAC) closed at $183.99 per share. The one-month return of KLA Corporation (NASDAQ:KLAC) was -9.52% and its shares gained 109.19% over the past 52 weeks. KLA Corporation (NASDAQ:KLAC) has a market capitalization of $240.39 billion.

As demand for AI, high-performance computing and data centre infrastructure has accelerated, foundries and integrated device manufacturers have responded with record levels of capital expenditure, driving a strong upcycle in WFE spending. The AI infrastructure build-out is particularly supportive, as hyperscalers require not only more chips, but increasingly complex and advanced architectures, materially increasing equipment intensity across the manufacturing process.

(NASDAQ:NFLX) posted a one‑month return of 13.05%, while its shares lost 34.66% over the past 52 weeks.
Guinness Global Innovators Fund stated the following regarding Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX), the streaming giant, was one of the Fund's weaker performers over the quarter, following a harsh share price reaction to its last quarterly print. There was also a boost to earnings per share from the termination fee related to Paramount's merger with Warner Bros, as Netflix had previously been in talks to acquire the latter's studio and streaming ****** ets. However, the market was disappointed by Netflix choosing to maintain guidance for 2026 despite the positive momentum seen in the first quarter. This was taken as a potential indicator of growth deceleration in future quarters, with some questioning whether Netflix can sustain pricing power given the increases it has already pushed through the subscriber base. The company also announced the departure of its Co-founder and Chairman Reed Hastings to focus on philanthropic and other pursuits. Manchester United have completed the signing of midfielder Carlos Baleba from Brighton for a fee up to $95 million, to complete the Red Devils' expensive midfielder makeover during the transfer window.
The 22-year-old Cameroon international is the final piece of the puzzle for Michael Carrick's side after also adding Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos ($111 million combined) this summer. Put the new-boy trio alongside Bruno Fernandes and Man United's midfield has gone from definite weakness to potential strength, at least one paper.
Fernandes is fresh off breaking the Premier League's single-season ***** ist record with 21 last campaign as Man United finished 3rd after two terribly disappointing seasons down in 8th and 15th. The rest of the midfield was made up of Casemiro (33 PL starts), Kobbie Mainoo (16 starts) and a rotating carousel of Mason Mount (12) and Manuel Ugarte (8).
Casemiro ended up scoring nine goals last season (mostly from set pieces), but him and Ugarte were tasked with providing the defensive cover that gave Fernandes the freedom to win games in the final third. It worked well enough to get back in the UEFA Champions League, but Casemiro's age (34, now at Inter Miami) and Ugarte's lack of mobility (prior to tearing his ACL at the World Cup), and both player's lack of forward passing, meant they were a band-aid solution that needed ripping off sooner rather than later.
That's because this season, Man United have to win more games in which they dominate possession. They proved they can be a devastating attacking team with Fernandes feeding Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Amad Diallo, but they struggled terribly against opponents that defended deeper and flat out refused to give them ***** e in behind, instead setting up their own counter-attacks and — you guessed it — taking advantage of Man United's much slower defensive midfielders and defenders.

ATLANTA – The Tour Championship is officially changing in 2028.
In the first year that the Tour will move to a Championship and Challenger Series format, the Tour will shift to a 90-man field for a stroke-play event to determine the season-long points winner. Only 32 will move on to a two-week match-play competition at rotating venues for the newly christened Tour Championship.
The first week will include World Cup-style group play, with the 32 qualifiers broken into eight groups of fours. The top two will advance to the final week, with ties decided in a sudden-death playoff.
The finale will be at a separate venue. Week two is four rounds of match play. All 16 players competing all four rounds. Every match impacts the final standings. The player who goes undefeated will be crowned the winner of the Tour Championship.
"This new format creates an exciting opportunity to showcase some of the most renowned venues in our sport, including places like the modern Tour has never been before," Rolapp said in a release. "Since our announcement in June, we have received a tremendous level of interest from prospective host venues. As a result, multiple discussions are underway, site visits have begun and we are encouraged by the enthusiasm we are seeing for the future of the Tour Championship."

WFE companies sit at the heart of the semiconductor value chain, supplying the highly specialised tools needed to manufacture advanced chips. Guinness Global Innovators Fund stated the following regarding Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"We initially bought Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU) for its market-leading position in mission-critical tax and accounting software, a deeply embedded QuickBooks platform with significant switching costs, and a strong consumer brand in TurboTax. QuickBooks' c.80% market share, high customer retention and accountant-led distribution created a durable competitive advantage, while Intuit's expanding ecosystem across payments, payroll, lending, Mailchimp, and tax services provided a clear runway for long-term growth and further monetisation. Toward the end of 2025 and in early 2026, markets became increasingly concerned with the 'Saaspocalypse', the implications of AI disruption of the software sector, causing sentiment on the stock to sour. While Intuit continued to deliver resilient results overall, its most recent earnings print changed the thesis for us. Revenue and earnings were modestly ahead of consensus, but the quarter was overshadowed by disappointing TurboTax performance, where revenue growth of 7% fell short of expectations (c.8%) and paid DIY returns declined sharply, particularly among price-sensitive, lower-income filers.
