Regulated electric utilities are one of the few places income investors can find dividends backed by cash flows that don't rely on the economic cycle. Rate cases, riders, and long-term customer contracts turn capital spending into recoverable revenue, which is why payouts at these three names have kept climbing for decades. The clearest example: Con Edison's "50 straight years of dividend increases, a record unmatched among utilities in the S&P 500" was extended again this year to a 52nd consecutive annual increase. Here are three regulated-cash-flow utilities that income-focused portfolios can lean on.
Duke Energy (NYSE:DUK) is one of the largest fully regulated electric utilities in the country, serving roughly 8.73 million retail customers across the Carolinas, Florida, Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky, plus Piedmont Natural Gas. The stock closed at $121.40 on September 3, 2026, with an annualized forward dividend of $4.34 after the July step-up to a $1.085 quarterly rate.

Aker BP has commenced production at the Skarv Satellite Project in the Norwegian Sea, bringing the Alve Nord, Idun Nord and Ørn fields online one year ahead of the initial schedule.
The developments hold nearly 120 million barrels of oil equivalent (mboe) in recoverable resources. In addition, they aim to improve flexibility and prolong operational life for the infrastructure surrounding the Skarv field.
The Alve Nord, Idun Nord and Ørn fields are located near the existing Skarv field in the northern Norwegian Sea. They have each been developed as separate subsea projects, linked together through the Skarv Satellite Project.
Each development incorporates a subsea template and two wells, all tied back to the Skarv floating production, storage and offloading facility.
Aker BP indicated that efficient use of existing infrastructure has kept the carbon dioxide (CO₂) intensity of production at around 4.5kg per barrel of oil equivalent (boe).

Norwegian oil and gas firms Equinor and Aker BP have made a gas and condensate discovery close to the operating Balder field in the North Sea, the Norwegian Offshore Directorate, the regulator of the industry in Norway, said on Monday.
Equinor and Aker BP had an exploration well drilled in a production license 16 kilometers (10 miles) northwest of the Balder field and 205 kilometers (127 miles) west of Stavanger, a major oil services hub in Norway.
Preliminary estimates indicate the size of the discovery is between 0.1 and 2.1 million standard cubic meters (Sm3) of recoverable oil equivalent, the Norwegian regulator said.
The licensees are now reviewing the result from the well and the other wells previously drilled in the license to consider further exploration potential in the production license.
Norway, Equinor, Aker BP, and other producers in the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) continue to pursue drilling and development in areas close to existing infrastructure to fast-track potential new projects by tie-backs to operational platforms.

Iran has discovered more than 7.5 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of natural gas in the southern province of Fars, Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad claimed on state television, Bloomberg reported.
The announcement comes after months of conflict involving the US and Israel, which has severely affected Iran's energy infrastructure.
Of the estimated reserves, Paknejad said that around 5.7tcf of gas is thought to be recoverable.
The minister compared the potential output to 15 years' worth of production from one phase of the South Pars field, which is jointly operated by Iran and Qatar and recognised as the world's largest gas field.
The discovery also includes quantities of gas condensates, which Paknejad valued in the "tens of billions of dollars".

Brazilian state-controlled oil giant Petrobras has identified hydrocarbons in an exploration well being drilled in ultra-deep waters off the state of Amapá, providing an early indication of petroleum potential in one of the country's most closely watched exploration frontiers.
The Morpho well, formally known as 1-BRSA-1405-APS, is being drilled in the FZA-M-59 block in the Foz do Amazonas Basin, around 175 kilometers offshore in water depths of 2,886 meters. Petrobras said the hydrocarbon-bearing interval was identified through electrical well logs and indications in rock.
Drilling remains underway, and Petrobras has not disclosed the size of the accumulation, the type or quality of the hydrocarbons, or any estimate of recoverable resources. The result therefore represents an exploration discovery rather than confirmation of a commercially viable oil or gas development.
Still, the find is significant because Petrobras described it as its first discovery offshore Amapá, an area at the northern end of Brazil's Equatorial Margin where the company has been seeking to establish a new exploration province.
Petrobras began drilling Morpho after receiving an operating license from Brazilian environmental regulator Ibama in October 2025. At the time, the company said the well was designed to collect geological data and determine whether hydrocarbons were present in economically viable quantities, with no production planned during the exploration phase.

The Athletics began the week with a Monday night matchup against the Kansas City Royals in the first game of this four-game series. The A's dropped the series opener 9-5 in another game where a poor performance from the Green and Gold's starting pitcher's put them in an unrecoverable hole. The team's offense battled back but ultimately came up short.
The A's offense got to Royals starter Michael Wacha immediately. First baseman Jeff McNeil hit the first pitch of the game over the right-field fence. His sixth home run of the season and fourth career leadoff homer put the visitors up 1-0 before most fans had found their seats. The A's had a chance to score more, but Carlos Cortes grounded into the first of two inning-ending double plays he hit into in this game.
A's starter Mason Barnett, pitching against the franchise that drafted him, allowed the Royals to answer right back. In his first game back from the injured list, Maikel Garcia's RBI single scored Bobby Witt Jr. to tie the game at 1. Barnett was unable to stop the bleeding, as Royals designated hitter Salvador Perez hit a two-out, two-run single to put the hosts up 3-1 after the first inning.
Barnett's struggles continued in the bottom of that inning. With one out, Witt Jr. hit his 15th home run of the season, a two-run shot to left center field, extending Kansas City's lead to 5-1.
In the bottom of the third, Kyle Isbel's two-out RBI single brought home the Royals' sixth run of the night and ended Barnett's outing. The A's right-hander allowed six runs on seven hits, four walks, two wild pitches and one home run over just 2 2/3 innings. The Royals went 4-for-6 with runners in scoring position against the A's starter.

Namibia is rapidly emerging as Africa's next major oil producer while neighboring South Africa, which controls roughly two-thirds of the same Orange Basin petroleum province, remains years behind in developing essentially the same petroleum system. The Orange Basin, an offshore deepwater petroleum province spanning the Atlantic maritime border between the two countries, is estimated to contain more than 20 billion barrels of oil equivalent. Yet while Namibia has attracted a succession of world-class discoveries and moved rapidly toward commercial development, South Africa has struggled to translate the same geological opportunity into producing **** ets.
TotalEnergies' (NYSE:TTE) deepwater Venus Project in offshore Namibia now targets an initial production capacity of roughly 150,000 barrels of oil per day, with first oil aimed for 2030. Venus-1X is estimated to contain 1.5 billion barrels of light crude and 4.8 trillion cubic feet of gas. TotalEnergies has also taken over operations of the massive Mopane discovery from Portugal's Galp Energia (OTCPK:GLPEF).
Last month, Shell Plc (NYSE:SHEL) and its JV partners reported a major oil discovery at the Merlin-1X exploration well within Petroleum Exploration Licence 39 (PEL 39). Located in Namibia's Orange Basin roughly 290 kilometers off the coast, the resource has recoverable reserves estimated at 750 million barrels for Phase 1. The success of Merlin-1X marks a critical turnaround for the consortium.
In early 2025, Shell booked a $400 million impairment on its Namibian offshore portfolio following engineering hurdles at older discovery wells with complex geology and high gas-to-oil ratios, including Graff-1X and Jonker-1X. Those challenges had initially slowed commercialization plans, but the Merlin-1X discovery has significantly improved the outlook for the company's Namibian acreage.

Argentina's massive shale oil and gas boom is going from strength to strength. The economically crisis-prone South American country yet again reported record monthly oil and natural gas production for May 2026. This couldn't come at a better time for Argentina and South America. Rising global geopolitical risks, notably due to war in the Middle East, and domestic economic hazards hold the potential to derail the significant economic gains Argentina has made over the last two years.
Ministry of Economy data shows May 2026 oil production hit an all-time high of 887,227 barrels per day. This represents a 0.6% increase month over month and is an impressive 19% greater than the same period a year earlier. Natural gas output also rose to 5.5 billion cubic feet per day, which was just shy of the record 5.7 billion cubic feet daily reported for July 2025. Indeed, May 2026 natural gas production was 5.4% greater than a month prior and a stunning 11% higher year over year.
It is the massive shale boom underway in the 8.6-million-acre Vaca Muerta formation that is responsible for this solid production growth. For May 2026, shale oil comprised 70.6% of Argentina's total oil production, while shale gas made up 69.8% of total output. Those ratios are at record highs for shale oil and gas as a proportion of Argentina's total hydrocarbon output. This is a game changer for Argentina, which recently overtook Colombia to cement its place as South America's fourth largest oil producer.
The Vaca Muerta shale formation, which is regularly compared to the Eagle Ford shale, is in the early stages of development. Drillers in the formation are still in that phase of deciding where the core producing areas are located. The Vaca Muerta is regarded as one of the most promising unconventional oil and gas plays globally, containing an estimated 16 billion barrels of recoverable oil and 308 trillion cubic feet of recoverable natural gas resources. This all points to tremendous future unconventional hydrocarbon production growth for Argentina.
Many of the Vaca Muerta shale formation's characteristics are superior to U.S. shales, even the prolific Permian, which is the largest oil-producing basin in the United States. The formation's shale is significantly thicker than the Permian, with it estimated to be at least double the width, allowing for more horizontal landings per pad and more frac stages per well. The Vaca Muerta's organic content exceeds that found in most U.S. shale plays, while its reservoir pressure is significantly higher.

China produced a record amount of crude oil last year, at 216 million tons, with natural gas production also rising substantially, the National Energy Administration reported today.
Together, the oil and gas output of China in terms of oil equivalent rose to 420 million tons—a record high. Natural gas alone rose by 10 billion cubic meters last year. The annual growth rate was unchanged for the ninth year in a row, the NEA said.
Chinese oil and gas companies also boosted their reserves, with new recoverable oil and gas volumes at 1.32 billion tons of oil equivalent, the report also revealed. This was a 5.6% increase on the year. Of that total, newly discovered conventional oil and gas accounted for 1.29 billion tons, while unconventional oil and gas accounted for 30 million tons.
China has been putting a lot of effort into reducing its dependence on imported energy, and the war between the United States and Iran has helped—as has the government's strategy of filling up storage with discount Russian and Iranian crude over the last two years. This gave China a supply cushion of an estimated 1 billion barrels that it tapped into when the war prompted a surge in international oil prices.
Higher domestic production has also helped but to a lesser extent—China is still nowhere near any meaningful self-reliance in energy commodities as demand rises much faster than local production of oil and gas.

Energy stocks have regained momentum in 2026. Oil prices remain well above their long-term averages, global demand for liquefied natural gas (LNG) continues to grow, and electricity consumption is accelerating as artificial intelligence (AI) data centers and electrification place new demands on the power grid.
Not every energy company will benefit equally. But if you're looking for stocks with clear catalysts over the next 12 months, these three stand out.

ExxonMobil (NYSE: XOM) has built one of the oil industry's lowest-cost, highest-return businesses. And its biggest advantage is Guyana, where the company has now discovered more than 11 billion barrels of recoverable oil equivalent, making it one of the largest oil discoveries in decades. Production recently surpassed 700,000 barrels per day, and management expects Guyana to produce about 1.7 million barrels per day by 2030.
That country is also one of the world's lowest-cost oil sources, with break-even prices estimated at less than $35 per barrel. That allows Exxon to remain highly profitable even if crude prices sink.

This weekend's exhibition fight in Greence between Floyd Mayweather and Mike Zambidis appears to be officially off, as ESPN cites federal court records that indicate company CSI, who holds contracts with Mayweather for two other fights, filed for an emergency injunction in the Southern District of New York to prevent this particular event from happening.
"Because Plaintiffs' Motion remains pending without a ruling, the Mayweather-Zambidis event will no longer proceed in Athens, Greece as planned on Saturday evening," attorney Melissa Glass wrote in a letter to the court. "Plaintiffs' commencement of this action and filing of the Motion, as well as their legal threats domestically and in Greece, have effectively stopped any promotion or distribution plans for the event and halted ticket sales."
The fight could potentially be rescheduled depending on a final ruling of the injunction request, but at least for the time being things will be put on hold. There is plenty of litigation to be had in this case, however, as promoters for this Zambidis event claim significant financial harm over money they've already invested in this event and that much of it will not be recoverable.
So while it remains to be seen where this all goes from here, what we do know is that Floyd won't be making an appearance in the ring, as DAZN has also dropped the event from its schedule.

SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. — Xander Schauffele glanced skyward after a three-putt at the 12th, a brief petition to whatever authority might intervene, then dropped his eyes knowing no appeal was coming. He gathered himself and moved to the 13th tee, carrying what everyone else at Shinnecock Hills was carrying Saturday. "Just kind of a long day," he would say afterward. "U.S. Open day."
After two days of grumbling that the set-up lacked teeth, Shinnecock and the USGA found their nerve, leaning into everything this course is capable of, and perhaps announcing what Sunday intends.
On Friday evening players received a text from tournament officials that the greens would be firmed and quickened. Then the wind arrived and never left, bending the flags into shapes they weren't designed to hold. The recipe wasn't complicated. Missed approaches that might have been recoverable on Thursday or Friday were now problems without solutions. There were no easy pitches, no gimmes waiting on the other side. Saving par required earning it.
The raw numbers don't fully convey that sentiment. A 73.6 scoring average, not quite a stroke-and-a-half higher than Friday's 72.25, reads as demanding but not deranged, the kind of difficulty a national championship is supposed to produce. The texture tells a different story. Of the 72 players who teed it up in Round 3, just two finished under par: Scottie Scheffler and Emiliano Grillo, although rumors circulated in the field that Grillo actually shot his 67 at National Golf Links of America and ******* ody caught it. For posterity, only a missed putt at the last separated Wyndham Clark from red figures. He had sprayed it everywhere and it didn't matter; the man was Michael Myers, absorbing every punishment the golf course threw at him and kept coming, a threat to everyone still breathing. He leads by six with 18 holes remaining.
But set Clark aside. The cruelty of Saturday is in the details. Rory McIlroy made three straight birdies on the front nine and looked like Clark's biggest threat. The back nine ended that: five bogeys, no birdies, a slide from second place to outside the top 15. The same back-nine dissolution that swallowed him Friday, written out again in the same handwriting.

(By Oil & Gas 360) – Alaska may hold some of the largest undeveloped oil and natural gas resources in North America, yet attracting the capital needed to develop them remains a persistent challenge.
That contradiction is becoming increasingly apparent as policymakers seek to revive Arctic energy development while investors continue directing most of their dollars elsewhere. Despite renewed interest in North Slope production, major discoveries, and efforts to expand leasing opportunities, Alaska remains a difficult sell in a market increasingly focused on short-cycle returns and capital discipline.
The resource potential is enormous.
Alaska's North Slope still contains billions of barrels of recoverable oil, while the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is estimated to hold between 4 billion and nearly 12 billion barrels of technically recoverable crude. The National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska spans nearly 24 million acres and represents one of the largest undeveloped hydrocarbon regions in the United States.
Yet resource size alone has not translated into investor enthusiasm.
