As Justin Baldoni's production company is deadlocked with Blake Lively over legal fees, another legal battle is coming to an end.
Wayfarer Studios, which Baldoni cofounded with investor Steve Sarowitz, has been ordered to pay the legal fees that The New York Times incurred in fighting a 2024 defamation lawsuit from the "It Ends with Us" studio.
In a July 27 order from New York Supreme Court Justice Gerald Lebovits, which was reviewed by USA TODAY, The New York Times Co. was determined to be entitled to $171,616.20 in damages. The company was seeking $181,622.70 in fees billed by outside counsel and its in-house legal team, but Lebovits did not agree that some fees were warranted.
The Times had sought attorney fees under New York's anti-Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation law after the claims against the newspaper in Wayfarer's federal lawsuit were dismissed in June 2025.

NEW DELHI: India fast bowler Ashok Sharma described his international debut as a "dream come true" after receiving his maiden India cap ahead of the opening T20I against Zimbabwe in Harare on Thursday, dedicating the emotional milestone to his elder brother whose sacrifice helped shape his cricketing journey.

The 24-year-old Rajasthan pacer was handed his India cap by bowling coach Sunil Joshi before the toss, capping a remarkable rise from domestic cricket to the international stage. Although Ashok finished with figures of 0/29 in four overs, India secured a comfortable seven-wicket victory to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Overcome with emotion after the cap presentation, Ashok reflected on years of hard work finally paying off.

"It's very special. The thing for which I was working hard, hopefully today it's fulfilled. It's a dream. Till now it's a dream, sir, whatever it was. Even now it's a dream that I wore the cap of India, and my dream has come true," he said.

Akshay made the difficult decision to put aside his own ambitions so Ashok could attend inter-district Under-16 trials. That selfless act became the turning point in Ashok's career.

Years later, the youngster who once struggled for opportunities has now become India's newest fast-bowling prospect.
Before presenting the India cap, stand-in head coach VVS Laxman reminded Ashok of the significance of representing the country.

"We know Ashok is going to make his international debut, and we discussed that it's a matter of great honour," he said.

Laxman also acknowledged the effort behind the achievement.

"Representing the country, all your hard work, and all your performances were rewarded by this opportunity," he added.
Ashok's rise has been rapid over the past year.

Major League Baseball’s All-Star Week gives fans and players alike time to take the edge off and enjoy lighthearted ballgame festivities. After four months of winning streaks and preliminary division races, it’s time to close out the first half of the season with a lively stoppage in play. From the Home Run Derby to the Midsummer Classic, MLB’s All-Star break supplies entertainment while accentuating players’ successes.
But not every player gets recognized. Between fan voting, a player ballot and the Commissioner’s Office (all steps in determining All-Stars), the league does an acceptable job of selecting deserving players. That said, every year a handful of guys wrongfully spend their All-Star break at home instead of under the lights.
A trio of rookies got their first career All-Star nods in 2026, but it should’ve been four. St. Louis Cardinals’ shortstop JJ Wetherholt has lived up to every expectation in his freshman campaign and has the highest fWAR of any position player not invited to Philadelphia.
Wetherholt stood at the doorstep of the majors as St. Louis’ highest overall prospect in 2025. His scouting report claimed he’d excel in bat-to-ball contact, yet it’s been his other tools that’ve gotten Cardinals’ fans inspired for the future.

The hometown Phillies ranked as the 29th worst farm system in the league based on prospect talent. This seems bad, huh? For a team with aging stars and up against the luxury tax threshold, an injection of young talent could be the only way to prolong this current run of regular seasons success for the Phillies. You are now thinking, how could they have fallen from 20th (in the preseason ranking) to near dead-last? What might have caused this? Well, two things. The graduation of prospects and the lack of development elsewhere. In regards to the former, it always seems to go over the casual fan’s head that could be a driving factor in these nonsensical rankings (nothing against rankings, I love them…but they are really arbitrary and objective). The Phillies graduated two Top100 MLB prospects in Andrew Painter and Justin Crawford. That is a legit major factor! This doesn’t even factor in struggles by Jean Cabrera, Aroon Escobar, Dante Nori, and Carson DeMartini. Not to mention their best prospect has yet to take the field (a consensus Top20 prospect in the game) in shortstop Aidan Miller.
I’m NOT saying this isn’t time to hit the panic **** on. Development has stagnated among prospects, especially on the hitting side. It feels any promising prospect hits that AA/AAA wall and nothing ever materializes. Its frustrating! The Phillies need to do a lot better in both drafting and international scouting. It is largely why the last few years the Phillies have needed to sign and trade for talent rather than find it within the organization. It isn’t a sustainable model if you aren’t blowing past the luxury tax.
You may ask, has it always been like this? Haven’t the Phillies had touted prospects and a system not that long ago? Lets look back at 2016, using a similar list from baseballamerica.com (its their preseason ranking, they didn’t do a full 30 for midseason). In 2016, the Phillies ranking 8th in the league. Led by promising names like JP Crawford, Nick Williams, Jake Thompson, and Jorge Alfaro.
Now these are some great names. The Phillies most impactful player wound up being 23rd ranked 1B-only prospect Rhys Hoskins. Who if memory serves me correctly, wasn’t nearly as fawned over as the monstrous OF Dylan Cozens. A lot of the names on here were also acquired via trade including: Nick Williams, Jake Thompson, Jorge Alfaro, Zach Eflin, Nick Pivetta, Darnell Sweeney, Ben Lively, Jimmy Cordero, and Tom Windle. 10 years later, only Hoskins, Crawford, Eflin, and Nick Pivetta remain major leaguers or had significant impacts.

According to court documents filed on Monday, Lively is seeking $7,495,526.87 (£5,666,993.09) in legal fees, along with a further $539,514.01 (£407,993.98) in expenses and litigation costs accrued during the lengthy legal battle with Baldoni and his production company, Wayfarer Studios.
Lively's legal team argued that the work involved in defending the lawsuit was "comprehensive and necessary to achieve the complete win that was secured", adding that the actress "has paid, and continues to pay" her legal bills, reports People.
The lawyers also said the high-profile case became even more expensive as it attracted "significant press attention, with thousands of indexed and syndicated media articles" and involved a lengthy evidence-gathering process, including more than 7,000 documents from Lively and tens of thousands more from Wayfarer Studios and other parties.
Judge Lewis J. Liman has ordered Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios to respond to the request by 13 July. He will then decide whether to award the full amount, reduce it or reject parts of the request.

With Jose Ramirez and Angel Martinez likely to still be on the IL as the deadline approaches, the Guardians will have to evaluate what their team is likely to be in need of when their best player as well as their current slugging leader make their returns. One would THINK that a team that is steadily in the bottom of all offensive categories except on-base percentage would still be in the market for some slugging, particularly from the right-handed side of the plate.
The number one place on the team where there is no clear internal option is for one more high leverage reliever, preferably one that bats left-handed. Of course, every team in MLB will be hoping to find a high leverage reliever and a right-handed power threat at the deadline. Will Cleveland be willing to do a little overpay to get one of these players? …It doesn't seem like the kind of thing they typically do… but I suppose the Lane Thomas deal kinda qualifies.
The trickiest category of potential acquisitions is a starting pitcher. The Guardians' rotation is strong. However, how likely is it that all five of them will make it through the season, because the depth behind them is practically non-existent. Personally, I'd be delighted if the Guardians shocked us and added another front of the rotation arm and showed willingness to let Cantillo or Cecconi become multi-inning weapons in the pen. But, I don't expect that kind of move, and admit it probably makes sense to focus your resources on improving the lineup and bullpen. So, I'm not going to spend time below focusing on the starters the Guardians could target. If they do, great. If anything, I'd see them doing a 2024 Matthew Boyd-type deal where they find a pitcher who is rehabbing they can take a flyer on. (But, they do also have Ben Lively somewhere who may fit that category).
I see the Guardians being willing to consider trading prospects for major league help, but I also suspect they will look to trade some of their own players even independent from acquiring help for now. I ***** ume, at this point, that they will trade Franco Aleman, who should be an ***** et in a deal for help now. Otherwise, I'm not sure why he wouldn't be with the major league team at this point. Bo Naylor probably gets moved for a comp pick at best, but more likely a lottery ticket-type prospect. I think they may deal Steven Kwan to a team who believes they can fix what ails him as a hitter, as many of his underlying skills remain. Speaking to reporters during a Mavericks youth basketball camp, Lively provided an update on his recovery while saying that he has no intention of rushing the process.
"I'm taking my time. I'm taking even more time than I need to make sure I don't ever have to deal with this foot again. So whenever I can get past that, get over this hill, I know I'll be stress-free," Lively said.
Lively's 2025-26 season was cut dramatically short after he suffered a severe right foot injury. He appeared in only seven games where he averaged 4.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.9 **** ists per game. Later he underwent season-ending surgery in December 2025.

"I think when you settle a case and your client was sued for 15 claims, of which two are dismissed by the other side voluntarily, 10 of the remaining 13 are dismissed by the court — and those involve ******* ual harassment and defamation — I think it's really important that the clients be able to speak about that," Freedman said.
"Because otherwise, you know, they're forever branded as being accused and responsible for that," he emphasized.
