Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) raised the price of Apple TV in the U.S. to $14.99 a month from $12.99 and increased the individual Apple One bundle to $21.95 a month from $19.95, CNBC reported.
Apple TV launched in 2019 at $4.99 a month and has since added significant content, including the film "F1" and a fourth season of "Ted Lasso." The move follows a $1-a-month increase to Apple Music in July, which Apple attributed to licensing costs. Apple reported $30.7 billion in services revenue for its fiscal third quarter, up 12% year over year. The segment's gross margin fell more than a percentage point sequentially, which the company blamed on product mix and foreign exchange headwinds.
The higher price shows a genuinely larger content library, not just a margin grab. Apple TV launched with limited programming at $4.99 a month. It now includes award-winning originals like "Severance" and blockbuster films like "F1" and gives Apple a stronger case that the price increase tracks real value added rather than outpacing what subscribers get.

Few television shows have shaped how Americans see a sport the way "Ted Lasso" did for soccer. The relentlessly optimistic former D2 football coach (football, not soccer) from Kansas City, hired to sabotage an English club by its owner's socialite ex-wife, somehow turned football (soccer) into a cultural phenomenon during the pandemic, introducing millions of viewers who had never watched a soccer game to rivalries, fandom and rituals.
It made them BELIEVE futbol is life.
When the series ended two years ago with AFC Richmond earning promotion to the Premier League, it felt like a fitting conclusion, not only for Ted but also for the audience. Three seasons had delivered a reminder of why people fall in love with the beautiful game.
Now the series returns with an even more ambitious challenge. Rather than taking audiences back to men's football, it turns its attention to the women's game. But unlike in 2020, when it helped introduce millions to soccer, the women's game no longer needs a television show to explain why it matters. The question is whether the series can capture women's soccer's evolution.
2020 was a strange year. As I was sending cancellation notes for my own wedding during the pandemic, I found myself becoming increasingly invested in Ted (played by Jason Sudeikis), Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham) and AFC Richmond. By the final episode, I had become a pseudo-supporter of the imaginary club, embracing their underdog story. As a sports journalist, that's a rare feeling. I spend my career covering real clubs, not fictional ones. Yet "Ted Lasso" managed to make soccer feel personal again. If it could do that to someone who already covered the sport, it's easy to understand why millions of newcomers found themselves watching the Premier League after the credits rolled three years later.

With a release date set on the heels of the 2026 FIFA men's World Cup, America's favorite soccer coach could have returned to AFC Richmond to reclaim the helm of the (fictional) club's men's team, now competing in the Premier League.
Reunited with Coach Beard, they could have faced a fresh set of challenges alongside the familiar characters who turned the Apple TV series into a global phenomenon and delivered his signature pink box of shortbread biscuits to Richmond owner Rebecca Welton's desk, carrying on with business as usual.
Instead, the show's latest season, which premieres on Apple TV on Aug. 5, took the series in a different direction.
Season 4 follows AFC Richmond's women's team as it chases promotion from England's second division, anchoring one of television's most beloved comedies in the fastest-growing sector of the world's most popular sport: women's soccer.

Juno Temple has revealed that she's married her boyfriend Michal Szymanski.
During TFI Unplugged's Ted Lasso special, the British actress and her co-stars Hannah Waddingham, Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt were asked what had happened in their lives in the three-year gap between seasons three and four.
The star, who plays PR guru Keeley Jones in the show, revealed that she got married to Michal, whom she met when he worked as a driver on the set of Ted Lasso.
"I got married. We met on season two of Ted Lasso. He was my driver," she shared.
Her co-star and close friend Hannah revealed that Juno asked for her advice on dating the Polish actor.
"She said, 'Can I ask him on a date?' I was like, 'Yes, you can, he's gorgeous,'" Hannah recalled.

The "Ted Lasso" actor went from the fictional pitch for AFC Richmond to taking the field for El Paso Locomotive FC of the United Soccer League. Facing New Mexico United, Fernández entered the game as a substitute for Rubio Rubín in the 79th minute of the Locomotive's 2-0 defeat in a USL Cup match.
El Paso and New Mexico were in a scoreless tie until the 85th minute when Joseph Quiah scored in the left corner for United. Zico Bailey found the net four minutes later on a cross from Jake LaCava for a 2-0 lead. Attendance for the match was announced at 5,011.
Locomotive FC announced on Wednesday that Fernández was added to the club's 18-man matchday roster for a home game at Southwest University Park versus New Mexico.
"Yes, it's really him," Locomotive FC included in Fernández's bio on the club's website.

Millions know Cristo Fernández as Dani Rojas, the relentlessly cheerful soccer star whose "fútbol is life" mantra became one of Ted Lasso's most beloved catchphrases. But long before he was playing a soccer star on television, Fernández was chasing that dream for real.
