In a long interview with France Football just a few weeks before the Ballon d'Or, Kylian Mbappé opened up about the players who will shape football in the years to come.
Mbappé then revealed a short list and was full of praise for a certain Lamine Yamal.
"To determine the ten to fifteen best players in the world, I think everyone agrees. Among the youngsters? Lamine Yamal. He has everything [...] I really like Estevao, he has a certain creativity. Here, Arda Güler can go very far. Endrick has potential, he's a goalscorer. Warren (Zaïre-Emery), Désiré (Doué), they're going to have great careers, that's for sure," he explained.
It's a gesture that could prove costly for Memphis Depay.
During the first leg of the Copa Libertadores quarter-final between Corinthians and Estudiantes, the Dutch forward lost his cool by making an obscene gesture toward the Argentine crowd after his club's equalizer in the second half.

MADRID (AP) — Barcelona stayed perfect in the Spanish league by cruising to a 5-0 win at Valencia on Sunday, with Lamine Yamal scoring another brace for the Catalan club.
Arsenal rallied to beat Chelsea 2-1 in the Premier League, while Manchester United was stunned in added time to draw 2-2 at Everton.
Augsburg moved to the top of the Bundesliga by winning 4-1 at Eintracht Frankfurt, and American midfielder Giovanni Reyna scored in Strasbourg's 6-2 rout of Troyes in France.
Barcelona won its fourth game in a row at the start of the Spanish league and is the only team with a perfect record after four rounds.
Yamal scored a goal in each half following his first two goals of the season in the win against Rayo Vallecano in the previous round.

Lamine Yamal struck twice for Barcelona as they demolished Valencia 5-0 on Sunday to maintain their 100 percent start in La Liga.
The reigning champions moved three points clear at the top of La Liga, after Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid lost 1-0 at Real Betis on Friday.
Fermin Lopez, Raphinha and Pedri were also on target for Hansi Flick's swaggering visitors on a hot afternoon on Spain's east coast.
Yamal did not take part in the team training session on Saturday after a knock but showed no signs of it during a dazzling display against Carlos Corberan's Los Che.
Barcelona, the only team in the top flight to win their first four games, took control from the start to the upset of Valencia's fans at a persistently bad-tempered Mestalla stadium.

Barcelona faced off against Valencia at the Mestalla Stadium earlier today as they hoped to secure all three points on the road in La Liga. The Catalan club made a bright start to the game and got their noses ahead in the sixth-minute thanks to Lamine Yamal's effort. Fermin Lopez doubled his team's advantage in the 22nd minute as Barcelona went into the half-time break 2-0 up on the scoreline.
Raphinha put daylight between the two sides in the 50th minute before Pedri made it 4-0 for Hansi Flick's team in the 79th minute. Yamal got himself another goal just five minutes later as the Catalan giants earned a dominant 5-0 win away from home.
Let's take a look at how each Barcelona player fared during the clash against Valencia.

A member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona on Sunday took over sole ownership of the **** le of the top scorer in Europe's top-5 leagues this season.
This comes owing to developments in the Blaugrana's meeting with Valencia.
Hansi Flick's troops are fresh off another absolutely dominant victory this evening, keeping alive a flawless start to the new campaign with a five-goal romp at Mestalla.
Lamine Yamal was on target to the tune of a brace, whilst Fermín López also shone bright yet again with a trio of direct goal contributions.
It was captain and new centre-forward Raphinha, though, whose strike proved the significant one when it comes to the early race for the European Golden Boot.

Barcelona remain perfect to start the season and have won their fourth straight La Liga game to open up a three-point lead at the top of the table thanks to a dominant 5-0 win over Valencia at Mestalla on Sunday afternoon. The Blaugrana put on another attacking show and created over a dozen giant chances, and Lamine Yamal (twice), Raphinha, Fermín López and Pedri found the net to give the leaders three more points in spectacular fashion.
Barça played a fantastic opening period, establishing their dominance from the opening whistle and creating huge chances early and often against Valencia's low block.
Lamine Yamal scored a brilliant first goal and had a second disallowed for a very narrow offside, and came very close three other times. Fermín López also found the net with a powerful finish in the box, and almost scored a glorious solo goal but was denied by the keeper and the post.
The Catalans had a couple of scares at the back but Joan Garcia was up to the task with a couple of big saves. Barça were in control for the entire half, however, and dominated midfield thanks to Rodri, who was simply fantastic in the opening 45 minutes of his first start.
There was only one piece of bad news when a freak accident caused Eric Garcia to suffer a broken nose in a collision with Rodri in the box, but Barça were fully in control and had a deserved two-goal lead at the break.

La Liga giants Barcelona have on Sunday been dealt a potential blow on the personnel front. This comes owing to developments in the Blaugrana's latest outing on the domestic front.
Hansi Flick's troops are currently locked in action at Mestalla, in a league meeting with Valencia. Barca headed into proceedings with sights on a fourth win from four to open the campaign, aware that as much would see them open an early advantage over arch rivals Real Madrid atop the table.
And as things stand, this is precisely what the evening's visitors find themselves headed towards. Owing to goals on the part of Lamine Yamal and Fermín López, Barcelona are in possession of a deserved 2-0 advantage.
As alluded to above, though, across an otherwise positive outing to date for the reigning Spanish champions, one source of concern was forthcoming on the personnel front.
Following a bizarre set-piece sequence which saw Rodri collide head-first with teammate Eric García, the latter was left grounded and bleeding from his nose.

Chelsea's interest in Lamine Camara has not gone away, and his latest display for Monaco has only intensified the feeling that this is a story with plenty left to run. According to TeamTalk, scouts from Chelsea and Liverpool were among a number of Premier League clubs in Paris on Friday night as Monaco claimed an eye-catching win over Paris Saint-Germain, with Camara playing a central part.
The backdrop made the performance even more significant. Camara had only just seen what was described as his "dream Deadline Day move to Chelsea collapse", after Monaco withdrew late despite an agreement having been reached. It left both player and buying club stunned, and it also left Chelsea needing to reassess after Enzo Fernandez's move to Manchester City earlier that same day created a major midfield vacancy.
Photo: IMAGO
There are moments when recruitment departments want to see a player's technical quality, and others when they want evidence of temperament. This appearance appeared to provide both. Camara returned to action under considerable emotional pressure and still delivered what was described as "a performance of real quality against one of Europe's strongest sides".
Against a PSG midfield featuring Fabian Ruiz, Joao Neves and Vitinha, "arguably one of the finest midfield trios in club football", Camara "was able to more than hold his own and play a significant role in Monaco's victory". That detail matters. Clubs at the top end of the Premier League are not only buying talent, they are buying resilience, personality and the ability to cope with elite opposition.

Liverpool are understood to have had scouts in attendance to watch one midfielder in whom they'd reportedly taken an interest during the summer transfer window.
There were reports earlier in the week that Anfield chiefs had asked Monaco to delay the proposed sale of Lamine Camara to Chelsea after the two clubs had agreed a £47m deadline day deal on which the Ligue 1 club ultimately pulled the plug (Sky Sports).
The Monegasques' sporting director Thiago Scuro apparently told the 22-year-old that he would complete a major transfer 'very soon' in what seems an attempt to keep him sweet for this season before granting him a move elswhere in 2027.
According to Graeme Bailey for TEAMtalk, Liverpool had scouts watching at the Parc des Princes on Friday night as they kept tabs on the Monaco midfielder in their Ligue 1 clash against Paris Saint-Germain.
Camara is said to have played 'a significant role' as his side came from behind to beat the European champions 2-1 and continue PSG's miserable start to the campaign.

Xabi Alonso says it is time for Chelsea to "move forward" following the departure of Enzo Fernandez and failure to sign Lamine Camara as his replacement.
The drawn-out saga surrounding the Argentine midfielder's future ended on Transfer Deadline Day when he reunited with Enzo Maresca at Manchester City.
The Blues sold the 25-year-old for £125 million, equalling the British transfer record set by Liverpool last year when they signed Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.
Speaking ahead of Sunday's Premier League meeting with ****** nal, Alonso admitted that Chelsea allowed Fernandez to leave the club because it was "best for the team".
"We take all the decisions together," the Spaniard said in his pre-match press conference. "We work together with big ones, small ones. We knew ultimately the goal is to have the best for the team. We want to build a good spirit, a good team."

Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso hopes everyone can now "move forward" following the protracted sale of Enzo Fernandez to Manchester City which was finally confirmed late on transfer deadline day.
The Argentina midfielder left Stamford Bridge to join City in a British record-equalling £125 million ($168.9 million) deal ahead of the window closing on Tuesday night.
Chelsea had initially set their own deadline of August 14 for clubs to make offers for Fernandez. But with that having come and gone, City then made another late move which saw intense negotiations over the fee before a settlement was eventually reached close to the 11pm cut-off.
The Blues had hoped to be able to bring in midfielder Lamine Camara from Monaco, but that deal collapsed when the Ligue 1 side backed out having not signed a deal sheet before the window closed.
Alonso, though, insists everything must now all be considered water under the bridge as he looks to refocus the squad for Sunday's trip to Premier League champions ****** nal, when Chelsea will be bidding to maintain their own 100% start to the new campaign.

Chelsea have moved quickly in the free-agent market, opening discussions with Georginio Wijnaldum after an abrupt and damaging end to their midfield plans. According to Caught Offside, the Blues have made contact as they search for a short-term solution following Enzo Fernandez's £125m move to Manchester City.
The timing is what gives this story its edge. Chelsea had been working to reshape their midfield before the deadline, but those plans fell apart. Fernandez was sold, while a move for Monaco's Lamine Camara broke down late on. That sequence has left Xabi Alonso looking for experience and immediate availability, and Wijnaldum fits both requirements.
The key line from the report is clear, Chelsea have "formally contacted Wijnaldum's representatives to discuss a possible return to the Premier League." For a club that has largely built around youth, this is a notable shift. Wijnaldum, now 35, has been without a club since departing Al-Ettifaq and remains eligible to sign despite the transfer window being shut.
There is logic to that. He offers Premier League pedigree, European-level experience and a calm profile in a position that now looks thinner than Chelsea expected. The report describes him as "an attractive short-term option for Xabi Alonso", particularly in the context of losing Fernandez and missing out on Camara.
From Chelsea's perspective, the attraction is obvious. Wijnaldum has won the Premier League and Champions League, and his 96 Netherlands caps underline the level of know-how he would bring into the dressing room. The article also notes that Chelsea need "experience, reliability and leadership in midfield", which feels a fair reading of the current squad balance.

One star player is convinced he'll agree a move to Liverpool. This is despite completing a medical with one of the Reds' fierce rivals.
We were eager for Liverpool to sign a defensive midfielder this summer. That didn't happen, unfortunately, and now the middle of the pitch remains an incredible opportunity for opposing teams.
That's certainly the feeling coming out of the opening two games. Both Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest were able to counter almost at will through the middle. Liverpool simply didn't address it as a problem.
But it sounds as though they might. Or at least, they're hoping to and now a genuinely brilliant midfielder is convinced he can secure a move in January.
That's according to IndyKaila, who has been bang on the money for most things this summer. He reports exclusively that Lamine Camara is eager to move to Liverpool and is 'convinced' of a January transfer.

The night before the transfer window shut, it seemed it would close with Enzo Fernandez still at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea were asking for £135m. It was more than Manchester City were prepared to pay. It took negotiations on 1 September to bring the price down to £125m, still a joint British transfer record and a deal that took the amount committed to buying players either to or from City this summer to around three quarters of a billion.
Had Chelsea not reduced their demands – which may be seen as an indication of their willingness to get rid of Fernandez, especially when their attempt to replace him with Monaco's Lamine Camara broke down – City might not have signed a third midfielder.
Instead, they completed a £326m revamp in the centre of the pitch. There were several pertinent elements. The £116m buy Elliot Anderson was always their first choice to replace captain Bernardo Silva, who was leaving when his contract expired and who then joined Real Madrid. City took added satisfaction from knowing some of their rivals wanted Anderson, including Manchester United.
Enzo Fernandez completed a £125m move to Manchester City on deadline day (Reuters)
The £85m arrival Ayyoub Bouaddi is seen as a player with the attributes to be world class and who, despite being only 18, is expected to play a lot of games this season. The Morocco international, who is studying for a maths degree, is regarded as belonging to the tradition of intelligent midfielders at City. Significantly, perhaps, City feel he is the only specialist No 6 in their squad.

Chelsea's handling of Enzo Fernandez's move to Manchester City has emerged as one of the standout stories of deadline day, with the London club choosing to honour an agreement despite late complications in the market.
As the window reached its conclusion, Chelsea had scope to revisit the situation. After issues surrounding Lamine Camara and the failed pursuit of a replacement, there was an opening to step back and inform Manchester City that Fernandez would no longer be available. Instead, Chelsea pressed ahead and sanctioned the transfer.
The key detail in this Enzo Fernandez deal is not only that Manchester City secured their target, but that Chelsea stayed consistent when circumstances changed. In a market often shaped by sudden reversals, that decision has been viewed internally and externally as significant.
One widely shared ***** sment of Chelsea's stance summed it up clearly: "Chelsea were class this deadline day. Chelsea had this possibility after the drama to Lamine Camara to say to Manchester City 'Sorry, we lost our replacement, Enzo can't come to to Manchester City anymore', But Chelsea decided to maintain their word to Enzo Fernandez. Maintain their word to Manchester City. Maintain their word regarding the deal and to still give the green light for Enzo to go to Manchester City Because, Chelsea behave as a serious club."
For Manchester City, the arrival of Fernandez adds another high-level option in midfield and reflects a decisive end to their transfer business. The Argentina international brings technical quality, control in possession and proven experience at elite level, attributes that will be expected to enhance the champions' engine room immediately.

We're still running through the checklist of completed deals from a hectic final day of the summer transfer window at Chelsea.
One of the most surprising stories of the day was Tosin's move to Tottenham. If it hadn't been for the late Lamine Camara drama, the permanent sale of the defender to Spurs would have been the big headline, along with Mykhailo Mudryk's move to the same destination.

Chelsea are furious, and the Monégasques have just waved goodbye to around €100 million. (Fabrizio Romano, RMC, Foot Mercato)
- After an endless saga and absurd twists and turns, Malick Fofana has finally signed for Sunderland. The transfer fee is estimated at €35 million including bonuses.
- Quinten Timber has left OM for Crystal Palace in a deal estimated at €20 million.

AS Monaco's Folarin Balogun (25) has turned down a move to Everton, scuppering his transfer to the Toffees, according to reports in The Athletic.
This is an unexpected turn of events, given that the two clubs had reached a renegotiated agreement worth around €50m, after the English club had expressed their doubts to their French counterparts about the deal going through.
Everton, who were looking to strengthen their attack following the sales of Iliman Ndiaye (26) to Manchester City and Beto (28) to Fiorentina, had earlier on Tuesday tried unsuccessfully to persuade Manchester United to grant them a loan for Joshua Zirkzee (25).
Balogun, who was at the Finch Farm training ground, has ultimately decided not to sign for the Premier League club and to return to Monaco. A major blow for both Everton and ASM, who were counting on the sale of the US international to boost their finances, after cancelling Lamine Camara's (22) transfer to Chelsea earlier in the evening.

Lamine Camara will be staying at Monaco after the Senegal midfielder's £47.1m move to Chelsea collapsed.
The 22-year-old had already completed a medical with Chelsea but his switch fell through shortly after the 23:00 BST deadline.
They had two bids rejected by the Ligue 1 side before Monaco eventually lowered their asking price when Folarin Balogun's move to Everton came into renewed doubt.
Chelsea made their move for Camara in an attempt to bolster midfield options with Enzo Fernandez closing in on a joint-British transfer record £125m switch to Manchester City.
They had also held talks with Roma's Manu Kone and another unnamed Premier League option.

Manchester City have equalled the British transfer record by signing Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea for £125m.
The Argentina midfielder has signed a five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium as City took their summer spending to around £435m, more than £325m of it on midfielders.
Chelsea countenanced the sale of Fernandez, who cost them £107m in 2023, even though their attempt to bring in Lamine Camara from Monaco broke down when the Ligue 1 club pulled out of the £47m deal.
Fernandez, who joins Alexander Isak as the joint biggest buy a Premier League club has ever made, said: "Manchester City are the most successful club in England in recent times. Every player wants to be part of a club like this because everyone knows how well-run City are.
"I could not be happier to be here, and I am ready for the challenge of helping City continue winning trophies. This is a club built for success.

Lamine Camara (22) is currently undergoing a medical ahead of a move to Chelsea from Monaco before the transfer deadline, according to a report from Fabrizio Romano. As reported by RMC Sport, the Premier League club have reached an agreement in the region of €50m plus bonuses to sign the Senegalese international midfielder before the transfer window closes.
Chelsea had been in negotiations with Les Monégasques throughout deadline day to sign the 22-year-old as they searched for a replacement for Enzo Fernández (25), who looks set to join Manchester City for a record-equalling British fee of £125m. The Côte d'Azur outfit originally commanded a fee in the region of €70m, due to their lack of need to sell with Folarin Balogun seemingly joining Everton. However, after the USMNT forward failed his medical, the club have been forced to negotiate with the Blues at a much lower price in order to raise funds before the end of the window. Everything now points towards Camara joining the Blues.

Xabi Alonso is at Stamford Bridge with the Blues. Chelsea have reached a full agreement with AS Monaco to sign midfielder Lamine Camara, according to Santi Aouna.
Following intensive discussions, Chelsea made a breakthrough by submitting a revised offer worth €55 million to secure the deal.
The 22-year-old Senegal international, eager to play in the Premier League, has verbally agreed to a six-year contract at Stamford Bridge with an option for a further year.
Monaco were ready to hold on to Camara, but circumstances changed dramatically on deadline day.
After a proposed €50 million sale of striker Folarin Balogun to Everton collapsed due to a failed medical, Monaco needed to sanction a major sale to meet financial targets. Chelsea capitalised, stepping in with an improved offer that matched Monaco's valuation.

AS Monaco forward Folarin Balogun (25) is now all set for a switch to Everton after the USMNT forward reached an agreement on personal terms with the Premier League club, according to a report from Fabrizio Romano.
Monaco have been open to selling the USMNT forward all summer. The former ***** nal man had an excellent campaign last time around and significantly bolstered his value. His value was enhanced further thanks to his performances for the USMNT at the FIFA World Cup. He was one of three players earmarked for an exit at the start of the summer alongside Maghnes Akliouche and Lamine Camara. The sale of Aladji Bamba to Newcastle United could allow Monaco to retain the latter.
However, unlike Camara, Balogun was keen to leave the Principality club. ASM, meanwhile, moved early in the window to secure his replacement in the form of Matthis Abline. By freeing up a non-EU spot, Monaco will also be able to finalise the arrival of Erik Lira.
An agreement between Monaco and Everton was struck on Monday night. The deal is worth a fixed fee of €45m plus an extra €5m in bonuses. An agreement has now been reached with Balogun himself. The former ***** nal forward is set to sign with the Merseyside club for four years. He has now been authorised to travel for a medical.

Chelsea are stepping up their pursuit of France international Manu Koné (25) on deadline day, according to a report from Foot Mercato.
It was previously reported this summer that Koné would be keen to join a major Premier League side. The 25-year-old notably impressed with a couple of eye-catching performances for France at the 2026 World Cup. Manchester United were said to be keen on signing him, until they eventually opted to sign Carlos Baleba from Brighton.
L'Equipe reported on Monday that Chelsea target Lamine Camara, who ran the show last night against Marseille, was actually the Blues' plan B should they fail to land their priority target. It would seem that Koné is the priority, with interest in Camara cooling over the course of the past 24 hours.
Attempts to sign Koné are now being stepped up, Foot Mercato understands. Chelsea have officially made contact with AS Roma. Talks are now ongoing.
