Princess Diana left behind one of the world's most recognizable jewelry collections, and decades after her death, several of its most sentimental pieces continue to appear on Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle. Kate received perhaps the most famous jewel of them all: Diana's sapphire engagement ring. The King has stepped in to help reinstate Uganda's participation in Prince Harry's Invictus Games after the country withdrew from the tournament.
Charles, 77, was "moved" by General Kainerugaba's consideration of his opinion and encouraged the chief to proceed with preparations for the country's participation in the games, according to Sir Clive Alderton, the King and Queen's principal private secretary.
The General has now approved participation in the upcoming Games, which was founded by the Duke of Sussex in 2014 and will next be held in 2027 in Birmingham, following a telephone phone call with Sir Clive, it was revealed on Monday.
Chris Magezi, the spokesperson for Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF), wrote on social media: "The decision follows a telephone conversation between General Kainerugaba and the Principal Private Secretary to His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen of the United Kingdom, the Right Honourable Sir Clive Alderton K.C.V.O."

The countdown is on for the Prince of Wales' firstborn son, Prince George, who will be attending Eton College this September. The 13-year-old royal will become a pupil at the prestigious institution in a matter of weeks, and the private school has already started preparing for their new royal addition. Fresh photographs taken from outside the school show that new 'No photography' signs have been put up on fences outside to ensure the media and members of the public do not invade the privacy of pupils.
We know that the Prince and Princess of Wales are keen to keep Prince George, and his siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, shielded from the limelight as much as possible. Although they accompany the couple on special royal occasions and a handful of engagements, privacy is very important to them and they want their children to have a relatively 'normal' upbringing.

When Prince William attended Eton College, a deal was struck with the press that they would be afforded arranged shoots with William if they left him alone the rest of the time, and this could well be a similar set-up for Prince George. German Minister of State for Culture, Wolfram Weimer, has become the first member of the federal government to call for the resignation of FIFA president Gianni Infantino.
"Infantino has seriously damaged world football with his planned sell-off of the World Cup," he told dpa on Saturday.
"He has lost the trust of the European football community and should not stand for re-election next year."
Infantino has been under fire since he unveiled plans worth billions to sell World Cup rights to private investors last week. Following major protests, including UEFA's threat of a World Cup boycott, the FIFA boss withdrew the proposal.
Other FAs and confederations also rejected the plans and Jordan FA president, Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, said on Tuesday that they had been blackmailed when being told by FIFA they would only receive money owed to them if he voted for Intantino at next year's election.

There have been a few moments like it, from Livano Comenencia’s goal for Curacao against Germany to Aymen Hussein’s for Iraq against Norway and even Cabo Verde securing that 0-0 draw against Spain. They’ve formed a theme of an enjoyably competitive World Cup so far, before you eventually get to the big ones that decide finals and the trophy.
There is also a serious point here, amid so much euphoria. Can any moment in any other sphere inspire such unity for a country, such a rush of collectivism?

President Trump attacked the federal judge who blocked his plan to close the Kennedy Center for a two-year renovation in a Truth Social post Saturday, one day after the judge ordered the president's name removed from the building.
In a 94-page opinion issued Friday on what would have been President John F. Kennedy's 109th birthday, U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper sided with Rep. Joyce Beatty, an Ohio Democrat and ex officio member of the Kennedy Center board. Cooper, an appointee of former President Barack Obama, found that the Trump-stacked board overstepped its authority when it voted in December 2025 to rebrand the institution as the "Trump Kennedy Center" and again in March when it approved a closure set to begin around the Fourth of July.
"The Kennedy Center's organic statute makes crystal clear that the Center is to be named for President Kennedy, and it cannot bear any other formal name or public memorial based on the Board's unilateral say-so," Cooper wrote. "Congress gave the Kennedy Center its name, and only Congress can change it."
Cooper gave the administration 14 days to remove Trump's name from the building's facade, the website and official materials. He did not bar repair work from continuing and said the board could try again to close the venue if it followed the proper process.
In a Saturday morning post, Trump called Cooper "a Barack Hussein Obama Judge" and accused him of standing in the way of a "magnificent" rebuild that he said would have replaced rotting beams, decades-old HVAC equipment and damaged marble. The president also attacked Cooper's wife, attorney Amy Jeffress, claiming she is "totally wired into the Left System" and represents "a Conflict of Interest" that should have forced Cooper to step aside.
