Esmee Gummer dreamed of becoming a professional dancer. At 18, and just six weeks before she was due to start dance college, complications following surgery left her paralysed from the waist down and unsure if she would ever walk again.
Now 35, she has swapped life at her home in Hackney, east London, for a campervan as she attempts to run 5,000km (3,107 miles) around the UK and Ireland.
She is leading a free 5km (3.1 mile) run club in every British city, as well as Dublin, as part of her project – The Nation's 5k – to inspire people to "say yes to movement before it's too late".
Since setting off from Inverness in June, she has consumed countless carbohydrate gels and worn out at least five pairs of trainers.
A support crew drives the van between cities, but Gummer, originally from Heybridge, Essex, is making the journey on foot, running for up to seven hours a day as she aims to complete the challenge in 99 days.

Everton started their cup play against Preston North End after the 40 mile drive down the M58 and up the M6. David Moyes ended his playing career at Preston and also started his managerial career before Everton came looking for someone to save them from the drop in 2002. A lot has happened since then but what has not changed is the fact that neither team have won silverware since then and today was another step in that journey. On a purely selfish note, I am heading home to Liverpool in September and would love to see a round three match with the Mighty Blues playing under the lights!
David Moyes went with a strong side to take on Preston. Jarrad Branthwaite and Hayden Hackney were given the night off with Michael Keane and James Garner taking their places. A big surprise to see O'Brien on the bench. Tyler Dibling was given another chance to shine on the right wing with Ndiaye moving to his favoured left.
Everton advanced to the third round of the Carabao Cup following a dominant victory over Preston North End, highlighted by a clinical hat-trick from Thierno Barry. After a closely contested first half, Everton pushed forward and eventually forced Preston into submission.
The match began with a warm reception for former manager David Moyes, which set a lively atmosphere that energized the travelling Evertonians. While Preston looked to sit back in a resilient low block and strike on the counter-attack through Delano Burgzorg and Adam Armstrong, Everton safely neutralized those early threats. The Toffees dictated the tempo through key involvements from Iliman Ndiaye, Tyler Dibling, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, despite initially struggling to breach Preston's crowded defensive line.
The deadlock was finally broken when Dewsbury-Hall lobbed a precise ball over the top to Vitaliy Mykolenko, who slid a low cross into the middle for Thierno Barry to tap past goalkeeper Nichols. The Evertonians were in full voice. "Oh, Tierno Barry, oh, Tierno Barry!"

The Toffees go into the game cautiously optimistic after some bright moments in pre-season. Their remains frustration however at a failure to address key issues in the transfer marker and the uncertainty over the future of David Moyes as he prepares to enter the final year of his contract.
The late season collapse is also fresh in people's minds, with the opportunity of European football thrown away thanks to a winless seven-game run to close out the season.
New signings include last season's Championship Player of the Year Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough, an energetic number eight who can hopefully add some incisiveness even from the deeper midfield position he's been deployed at so far. Tyrique George and Merlin Rohl turned their loan stints into permanent deals. Christian Norgaard looks to be a savvy signing from ****** nal to replace Idrissa Gueye, while Brennan Johnson adds pace and dynamism following his Dwight McNeil swap deal with Saturday's opponents Palace.
The yawning hole in the squad though remains right-back, a position Everton have failed to adequately address for years. That failure had hung over the Toffees' summer and the overall mood of the fans at the end of the window will like rest on whether they address it.

Everton have confirmed the signing of Wales winger Brennan Johnson from Crystal Palace, with Dwight McNeil heading the other way in a rare swap deal.
The 25-year-old has signed a four-year deal and becomes the fifth permanent arrival of the summer after Merlin Rohl, Hayden Hackney, Tyrique George and Christian Norgaard.
Speaking about his move, Johnson said:
"I'm so excited to be here. The club speaks for itself – it's a massive club and one that when I first heard of the interest, I immediately wanted to come and be part of it.

Everton have strengthened their midfield by completing the signing of Christian Norgaard from **** nal on a two-year contract.
The 32-year-old Denmark international moves to Goodison Park after a single season in north London, where opportunities proved limited despite **** nal's Premier League **** le success. Norgaard featured 20 times across all competitions for the Gunners but made only seven league starts as Mikel Arteta's side ended their 22-year wait for the championship.
The experienced holding midfielder arrived at **** nal from Brentford last summer in a deal worth around £15 million, following an impressive six-year spell with the Bees.

A few talking points on the starting lineup. The big news was a first start for Hayden Hackney. The other talking point for the team was the absence of Jarrad Branthwaite. It was reported that this was as part of his planned reintegration into the squad. Tyler Dibling and Mykolenko return and Jake O'Brien started on the bench. David Moyes was starting with his favourite 4-2-3-1 with Beto up top.
A lovely night in Stoke with Everton in their all blue kits. Everton were immediately on the front foot and a nice bit of interplay only broke down when Dewsbury-Hall ****** ed a ball into the box and it was easily handled by the Stoke keeper. Interestingly, it looked like Dibling was playing at right ack with Hackney in front of him.
An early corner was recycled by the Blues and when it fell to George, he laced a shot just narrowly wide of the post. A very good start from the boys in blue. Stoke tried to slow the game down and get on the ball but Everton were pressing high. When George intercepted a pass, his pass was slightly overhit for Dibling.
Everton went off the boil and some lax defending by Tarkowski allowed Gallagher in on Travers but a great leg save denied the home team. It was then Everton's turn to hold onto the ball. It was all a little scrappy. Beto did some fighting for the ball in the middle of the park with no end product. A nice ove down the right side saw Rohl deliver a nice cross but no one was there when the keeper spilled the ball.
The interplay on the left side between KDH and George was really good. However, Travers was the saviour again as Thomas drilled another shot on the goal. Everton were then hanging on as Stoke delivered cross after cross.

Born in Pimlico and polished in the ***** nal academy system, Norton-Cuffy built his reputation the hard way. He ground out dirty minutes in the Championship during loan spells at Lincoln, Rotherham, Coventry, and Millwall. Then Genoa called. Moving to Serie A is usually a daunting leap for a young British defender. He handled it. Last season, Brooke Norton-Cuffy racked up 2,216 minutes across 27 appearances, starting 25 times after making a debut against Atalanta. That brings us to the real question. Does Moyes actually need him? The right-back spot is already looking incredibly crowded, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka is still the primary target for that role. Rico Lewis and Djed Spence are hovering on the radar, too. Bringing Norton-Cuffy into that mix feels less like strategic squad building and more like a club struggling to make a definitive choice.

The Everton players not involved with their national teams returned to Finch Farm to start their preseason fitness conditioning and training on Friday. Jordan Pickford remains with the England side while Idrissa Gueye, Iliman Ndiaye and Nathan Patterson are taking extended breaks following their World Cup efforts.
Attacking midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was the life of the dressing room last season and looks like that hasn’t changed.
