Willie Cauley-Stein's latest story suggests that the Sacramento Kings held him back from potentially achieving what he could have.
During the 2015 NBA Draft, the Sacramento Kings selected Willie Cauley-Stein with the No. 6 overall pick. The big man was expected to develop into a long-term solution at the five for the organisation.
However, in 2019, at the end of his rookie deal, he joined the Golden State Warriors as a free agent. The big man then bounced to a couple more teams before he was effectively out of the league by 2022.
And while Cauley-Stein never exactly panned out, things could have been different for the Kentucky alum. And his recent story isn't a great look for the Kings franchise, either.

According to Mundo Deportivo, FC Barcelona defender Jules Kounde is back at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.
The French defender returned to the Catalan club's training facilities on Tuesday following his holiday, exactly as planned.
Kounde finished his participation in the World Cup one day earlier than the Spanish internationals after playing in the third-place playoff against England.
As a result, he was given one fewer day of vacation than the world champions and returned to Barcelona on Tuesday.

There was no hangover for the Diamondbacks after their low-scoring series victory over the Dodgers. Indeed, the offense nearly matched the entire output there, in just the first four outs. That provided a nice, soft landing for Michael Soroka, in his return from the injured list, as he threw 4.1 scoreless innings, before being removed for pitch count purposes. Zack Littell made his D-backs debut, and was awarded the win for his 4.2 innings of relief. Arizona simply took care of business tonight at Chase Field, and as a result remain tied with the Phillies for the second wild-card spot, since Philadelphia also won, in St. Louis.
Before this season, the Diamondbacks had hit only five first inning grand-slams in team history – that's over a span north of 4,400 opening frames. The last came more than fifteen years ago, in April 2011, when Stephen Drew took Ryan Dempster deep. But the team has now done it twice this year, with Nolan Arenado the man responsible on both occasions. Amusingly, he has a Rockies appeal to thank for it. With two outs, Gabriel Moreno hit a triple that rattled around in the right-field corner. It looked he then scored on a wild pitch, but Colorado appealed, saying it hit Marte. A review confirmed this, so Gabi was sent back and Ketel took first. But instead of getting out of the frame, Lars Nootbaar drew a walk, which allowed Arenado to come up with the bases loaded. Just like on May 18 against Robbie Ray, this then happened.

Arizona put up another crooked number in the second inning. With one out, Ryan Waldschmidt singled, Geraldo Perdomo walked, and Corbin Carroll doubled home Waldschmidt for a 5-0 lead. A wild pitch added another run, and Marte drove in one more with a single. Through two innings, Arizona were 7-0 up, and they had made Colorado starter Gabriel Hughes throw 63 pitches. With Soroka having allowed one walk and no hits through two, it was a bit of a surprise that it was the D-backs starter who was the first to be replaced. Part of this was the Arizona offense taking a bit of a nap for the next few innings. Also, this was Soroka's first outing in the majors since June 19. He had only one rehab start, throwing 57 pitches for the Reno Aces.
Therefore, while it would have been nice to get him through five and qualify for the victory, a fairly long fourth inning (needing 22 pitches) put the dampers on that. After getting the first out in the fifth, Soroka threw an 8-pitch walk, and Torey Lovullo decided that was enough, at a total of 77 pitches. The final line: 4.1 shutout innings, on three hits and three walks with four strikeouts. Under normal circumstances, this might have been a bit of a problem. But new guy Zack Littell had been signed for exactly this, and had no pitch count limitation. He didn't make a great first impression, walking the first batter he faced on four pitches. Carrington maintained that she was making a defensive play she has attempted throughout her WNBA career and never intended to injure Cunningham.
"I'm never gonna let an open layup just be had," Carrington said. "You can pull clips from however many seasons of me making that same exact play. It was unfortunate that I made contact with her in the way that I did, but it was never intentional."
Officials reviewed the contact and upgraded Carrington's foul to a Flagrant 2, which carried an automatic ejection. The decision removed one of Chicago's most productive players from a competitive game and immediately ignited another heated debate surrounding physical play in the WNBA.

DiJonai Carrington of the Chicago Sky traded posts on social media with former NFL player and current commentator Emmanuel Acho on Monday after she was ejected from Saturday's WNBA game against the Indiana Fever.
Carrington committed a hard foul against Fever guard Sophie Cunningham, and after a review, was ******* sed with a Flagrant 2 and ejected from the game. Shortly after she was off the court, a post that read "WHITE PRIVILEGE indianafever" was sent out from one of her social media accounts.
Acho offered his take on the situation on his podcast Speakeasy on Sunday night: "If we are paying attention to what DiJonai Carrington did to Sophie Cunningham, it was not a race-based decision, and to call that a white-privileged-based foul is to completely undermine the term of white privilege and also completely ignore the rules in basketball."
While Acho was one of many commentators to weigh in on Carrington's foul, his comments stand out because they prompted a response from Carrington herself.
"I've never once claimed that the ******* sment of the foul was white privilege (that was your ******* umption)," Carrington posted in response to Acho. "Try exercising your critical thinking skills, I know you studied psych. Furthermore, I'm the LAST thing from ignorant or asinine when it comes to speaking on 'white privilege,' do ya research on that one. I actually went to school, one of the top universities might I add, to educate myself on this exact subject. The Seattle Seahawks are back on the practice field Monday, as they prepare for the 2026 season and defending their ******* le as reigning World Champions after stomping the New England Patriots 29-13 in Super Bowl LX.

Of course, as good as the news that Brown and Richman are suited up is, the fact that there is no sign of Jadarian Price during warmups is not great. Price has been held out of practice the last few days with lower-body soreness, but is expected to be back in action sometime soon. Of course, the longer the absence continues for the Seahawks first round pick, the more questions fans will raise about exactly how sore he is and what might be causing it.

Visen Anenden, who served as Charles' head chef for nine and a half years, revealed that the couple favored small portions, traditional dishes and ingredients sourced directly from the royal estates. While Charles had a particular weakness for savory soufflés, Camilla preferred roast chicken and would even visit the kitchen to explain exactly how she liked it prepared.

Speaking to Heart Bingo Online, Anenden said portion control remained a consistent feature of meals prepared for Charles and Camilla. "The thing with the royals is that they don't eat a lot," the chef explained. "It was always small portions. It's never substantial, loaded plates at all, never."
Even a traditional Sunday roast was reportedly kept relatively light. Rather than filling their plates with several helpings, Charles and Camilla would typically receive two slices of meat, roast potatoes and light Yorkshire puddings.

The San Diego Padres signed outfielder Austin Hays to a Major League contract on Sunday afternoon.
After San Diego signed Hays, Stammen almost predicted what would happen later in the game. The Padres manager said, "He's a good right-handed bench bat…one of those guys that, in his career, has hit lefty pitching really well. So he's somebody that we can bring in to pinch-hit against a tough lefty, or someone that we can start against a lefty."
A few hours later, Hays was pinch-hit to face left-handed pitcher Bryan King and hit his second home run of the season in his first plate appearance with San Diego, almost exactly as Stammen predicted when explaining the free agent signing.
Hays' number was called in the bottom of the eighth inning of Sunday night's game against the Houston Astros. There was a runner on first, and Hays hit a 371 ft. home run to left field to put his new San Diego team up 7-2, making quite the first impression.
Hays replaced designated hitter Gavin Sheets. Hays bats right-handed while Sheets hits lefty. Manager Craig Stammen made the substitution call with Houston bringing on southpaw Bryan King in relief.

Isiah Pacheco came to Detroit with a reputation for running angry.
Drew Petzing has seen exactly that so far.
The Detroit Lions' offensive coordinator offered a glowing **** sment of Pacheco's start to training camp, praising not only his physical running style but the way he approaches every practice rep.
"He's been awesome," Petzing said. "It's the way he approaches the job, how physical and tough he is, how hard he practices and how much he cares. He can have an unbelievable practice, but if there's one repetition he didn't execute exactly the way he wanted, he beats himself up over it. He's really hard on himself. I think that's contagious. He has been fun to work with, and I'm excited to see that continue."
That is strong praise for a veteran back who joined Detroit this offseason after spending his first four NFL seasons with Kansas City.

On Saturday, the Pro Football Hall of Fame witnessed a new class of legends entering the hallowed halls in Canton, Ohio. Among those were Luke Kuechly, Drew Brees, Roger Craig, and a former Minnesota Vikings ball boy turned wide receiver, Larry Fitzgerald.
During his Hall of Fame speech, Fitzgerald discussed how his time around the Minnesota Vikings shaped him as a person and an athlete. He shared stories about Randy Moss, but a joke he threw at Cris Carter was a moment that got a considerable pop from the crowd.
Fitzgerald joked, "Uncle Cris (Carter), since we got all them pleasantries out the way, I hope we both can agree my hands have always been better than yours."

Social media users subsequently criticised Padalecki for allegedly supporting Hilton, given the blogger's past bullying and targeting of various celebrities and their families. Padalecki quietly deleted his message amid the backlash.
"I didn't know. It's been brought to my attention," Padalecki wrote via X on Sunday. "I'm sorry."
"To give more detail re my post wishing someone well, I had absolutely no idea about his past," the Gilmore Girls star shared in a follow-up message that same day.
"I had heard of him. Obviously. I had heard that he hadn't exactly 'been kind' to me in the past. So, my thought is always to give grace and forgiveness to those who may have tried to 'harm' you. In my experience, it usually works out better than holding a grudge or wishing punishment on someone else.

João Palhinha is not in Vincent Kompany's plans this season for Bayern Munich despite the midfielder saying he was ready to stay and fight for his place after returning from a relatively solid loan spell with Tottenham. For a decent while, he was rumored with a potential move back to Portugal, but neither Sporting CP or Benfica are currently able to afford his wages and Aston Villa have been the club most recently linked with the Portuguese midfielder.
Unai Emery is an admirer of Palinha's and is looking to fill the spot left by Youri Tielemans, who left for Manchester United. Additionally, playmaker Morgan Rogers has left for Chelsea, which leaves another gap in Emery's midfield and while they have already brought in João Gomes from Wolverhampton Wanderers, there's still a void to be filled.
Villa could now face competitions from a Premier League rival for Palhinha, though. Per information from TalkSport (via iMiaSanMia), Newcastle United have emerged as a potential suitor for the midfielder as new manager Matthias Jaissle really seems him as a good fit for his midfield. In addition to the departure of manager Eddie Howe, The Magpies have already lost Anthony Gordon to Barcelona, Sandro Tonali to Tottenham, and most recently, Bruno Guimarães to ******* nal. Jaissle now has find the right puzzle pieces in the remainder of the summer transfer window and he sees Palhinha as a viable option.
With the players Newcastle have lost, experience in the Premier League is exactly what he's looking for — something Palhinha has plenty of with his tenures at Tottenham and Fulham. They'll really have to fight Villa for his signature, though, as Bayern have the luxury of waiting to see who'll be willing to pay a higher fee for him since they prefer a permanent sale over another loan option.
For Newcastle, they'll want to avoid another situation similar to what happened with Johan Manzambi, who wound up going to Villa from SC Freiburg after all indications were pointing towards a move to Newcastle. A higher wage paid and the prospect of Champions League football from this season after the UEFA Supercup against Paris Saint-Germain was one of the huge selling points for Manzambi after he impressed with Switzerland at the World Cup, so Newcastle have the ball in their court when it comes to Palhinha.

Trent McDuffie bolstering the Los Angeles Rams secondary is one of the biggest positional upgrades for any team this NFL offseason. And the two-time All-Pro has taken to his new team quite quickly.
"It feels like home," McDuffie said this week in an interview with the Rams' social media team. "When I put that Rams helmet on, it was like a feeling that I should be here, a feeling of almost community. The fans, I've known them forever, I grew up here … they've welcomed me into this team and this culture with open arms."
It's hard to ask for more from a blockbuster acquisition than what McDuffie has already given this Rams franchise. Obviously, he's a stud of a player, whether that means he's playing in the slot or on the boundary. But the fact that he wants to be a part of this organization and has already embraced it is a welcome addition, too.
Even with an interview segment that's gone viral this week about being made about his trade away from the Kansas City Chiefs in the moment, McDuffie had previously admitted a desire to play for the Rams one day. Sometimes things work out exactly how they're supposed to.

NFL careers rarely follow a straight line. Elijah Moore knows that as well as anyone. The Philadelphia Eagles' wide receiver entered the league as a second-round pick of the New York Jets in 2021. It appeared destined for a lengthy run as a productive offensive weapon. Five years later, he's on his fourth team in three seasons and battling for a roster spot in one of the league's most competitive receiver rooms. That reality isn't lost on him. He spoke with the Philadelphia media and put those emotions into words.
"Life is not a linear path, I think, for any person. There's rarely, even [for] some of the top players that get picked, that it goes exactly the way that they wanted."
Timing matters in training camp. With DeVonta Smith and rookie Makai Lemon sidelined by hamstring injuries, Moore has received valuable first-team reps that may not have been available otherwise. Rather than simply filling ***** e on the practice field, he's used those opportunities to strengthen his case for a roster spot.
Moore has flashed throughout camp. Multiple sources, including The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff Neiburg, have described showings of quickness and route-running ability that once made him one of the more intriguing young receivers in football. While he has remained realistic about his own performance, he believes he's taking advantage of the chances he's been given.
"I'm super critical of myself, so I always think there is so much improvement that I could do with my alignment, my ***** ignment, my execution. Am I making the most of my opportunities? Yeah. Is there still opportunities I'm leaving out there? Yeah."

Los Angeles Dodgers starter Emmet Sheehan exited his start with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday after just 0.2 innings pitched.
Up until Aug. 3, Sheehan had spent the entirety of the season in MLB with the Dodgers—though it hadn't exactly gone to plan. Sheehan's velocity fell off of a cliff at the start of the season, and his ERA rose from a solid 2.82 mark last season to 5.29 this season.
The Dodgers optioned him to Triple-A Monday, and he made his first minor-league start of the season against the Salt Lake Bees, and allowed a hit and a walk before exiting the game in the first inning. He got charged with two runs on the outing, as an inherited runner scored from second after his exit.
Sheehan's appearance shouldn't raise any red flags, though, as Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reported the Dodgers intended for Sheehan to leave the game early.
"This was a pre-planned abbreviated outing for Emmet Sheehan for workload purposes with the expectation of having a normal outing next time through the rotation," he wrote via X.

The debate is set to continue as to exactly how many goals Alexander Isak scored in Liverpool's 3-2 defeat to Monaco on Sunday afternoon.
The Swedish striker opened the scoring at Anfield on the quarter-hour mark with a clinical low finish past Lukas Hradecky, although the identity of the goalscorer for the Reds' second strike of the day was much harder to ascertain.
A rather untidy goalmouth scramble in the 29th minute resulted in the ball being prodded to the visitors' net from close range, with both the £125m man and Florian Wirtz going for it as they sought to poke it over the goalline.
Some reporters ultimately credited the second goal to Isak, although the match report on the official Liverpool website gave it to the Germany international.
When asked to clear up who exactly got the final touch, the Reds' number 9 was unable to give a definite answer, telling liverpoolfc.com: "I think we agreed, me and Flo, that we both got a touch on the ball, but obviously I don't know who got the first one or the last one. It felt like I was on the ball. I don't really know."
