Cowboys Flying entered Monday's All American Futurity undefeated but with one significant change: The trainer who had guided him through his first five victories was no longer in charge.
It didn't matter.
Cowboys Flying won the $3 million All American Futurity at The Downs at Albuquerque, remaining unbeaten and delivering the biggest victory of his career despite being in trainer Marco Chavez-Gutierrez's barn for only about three weeks.
The heavily backed Cowboys Flying paid $2.60 to win, $2.20 to place and $2.10 to show in the race for 2-year-olds.
Ask Her To Fly finished second, paying $13 to place and $5.40 to show. Chili Gato was third and paid $3 to show.

The third day of the Audi Summer Tour featured the first friendly for FC Bayern as the Munich men met South Korean top-flight club Jeju SK at the Jeju World Cup Stadium. There was plenty going on before the match, too. fcbayern.com brings you an overview of the Tuesday on the Audi Summer Tour.
In a lively encounter – in spite of the high temperatures – against Jeju SK, FC Bayern triumped 2-1 in the end. Youngsters Felipe Chávez and Bastian **** omo netted the goals for the Munich men in the first half. All the info:
How Bayern are taking the spirit of Jeju to Hong Kong
The special connection between FC Bayern and Jeju was reinforced by some appreciative gestures before FCB's 2-1 win at the World Cup Stadium on the South Korean island. For a start, president Herbert Hainer and Wi Seong-gon, the Governor of Jeju, carried out the ceremonial kick-off in the shirts of their respective teams, while special gifts were also exchanged. Hainer presented the Governor with one of the exclusive Bayern figures that the club made for the occasion.
In return, Rouven Kasper, FC Bayern board member for marketing and sales, received a "dol hareubang" statue from Jaryong Jo, the CEO of Jeju SK, who's been working with the German double winners for a year as part of the joint venture Red&Gold. These are statues made from the volcanic stone that's typical on the island of Jeju.

More than a decade after a Texas woman was found stabbed roughly 100 times in her apartment, a real estate agent is behind bars without bond, facing capital murder charges.
Mayra Velasquez, 42, was booked into the Tarrant County Corrections Center July 17 in the killing of Irasema Chavez, according to the Arlington Police Department and county jail records.
Chavez, 32, was found dead Jan. 20, 2012, inside her second-floor apartment in the 2700 block of South Collins Street. Investigators said there were no obvious signs of forced entry, raising the possibility that Chavez knew the person who killed her or willingly opened the door.

As it gets closer to the 2026 Arizona high school football season, The Arizona Republic ranks the top 10 stadiums.
They don't have to be the best teams. They feature an ambiance, a prestige, a history, a look that stands out among the 200-plus schools in the state.
Named after deceased former coach Tot Workman, this was the first football domed stadium built in America on a high school campus. It opened in 1991 at a cost of $11 million and has been used for several sports, including track and field. It's got a majestic look 8,000 feet above sea level in the White Mountains. It's worked out well because of the harsh cold weather that can come through in the fall and winter. It seats about 5,500 fans.
It's no longer Cesar Chavez on the stadium in Laveen (the school has been renamed), but Cactus Canyon has that old-school look that stands out. It was obviously modeled after Montgomery Stadium, which was demolished in 1987 and was once the home field for Phoenix Union, which closed in 1982.
Cromer Stadium is something out of the 1940s, tucked in the pines in Flagstaff. The school opened in 1967, but the grandstands were built in the 1940s. In 2018, Flagstaff and Coconino played their rivalry game at Cromer, marking the 50th anniversary of Coconino's first state football championship. Usually, the big rivalry game is played at Northern Arizona's Walkup Skydome.

Former New York Mets hitting coach and bench coach Eric Chavez offered a brutal takedown of David Stearns, the team’s president of baseball operations, in an episode of “The EC3 Pod” on June 28.
Stearns has come under heavy criticism for the Mets’ struggles in 2026. Although manager Carlos Mendoza was fired with team off to a 35-48 start, many have pointed to Stearns’ off-season roster moves as being primarily responsible for the team’s poor play.
MORE: Freefalling Mets lose another infielder to injured list
For a fan or even a reporter to register that complaint is one thing. Chavez’s time with the Mets began as the team’s hitting coach in 2022, before he became bench coach in 2023. When the Mets hired Stearns after the 2023 season, Chavez moved back to the hitting coach position from 2024-25.
Chavez used his podcast appearance to unpack his (mostly negative) first-hand impressions of Stearns from their two seasons together.

Last night might have been one of the most entertaining at the 2026 World Cup yet.
Mexico were out to end the group stage with a 100% from their three matches in Group A, while Haiti wanted end their first tournament in 52 years in style by giving Morocco a real run for their money.
FromTheSpot looks back on the action from Wednesday night and Thursday morning, and what it means going forward in this World Cup.
The co-hosts have so far had the best campaign at the World Cup, save for the fact that USMNT are yet to play their final group game against Turkey.
All of El Tri’s goals came in a storming second half performance, courtesy of Mateo Chavez’s curling strike, the Saudi Pro League’s top scorer Julián Quiñones, and then Álvaro Fidalgo’s strike in stoppage time.

World Cup co-hosts Mexico crowned their group stage performance with a 3-0 win against the Czech Republic on Wednesday, while South Africa booked a spot in the knock-out stage for the first time in their history with a 1-0 victory over South Korea.
Mexico had already qualified to the next phase as Group A winners. South Korea need to wait and see if they will finish among the eight best third-placed teams, while the Czech Republic are out.
Mateo Chávez dashed from his own half, skipped over a Czech challenge and coolly slotted the ball home to give Mexico the lead in the 55th minute.
Julián Quinones then added a second in the 61st with one of the most bizarre goals of the tournament so far.
There were loud cheers in the 78th when legendary goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa replaced Raul Rangel to earn his 153rd Mexico cap.

2026 World Cup co-host Mexico are well and truly in the driver's seat against Czechia in Mexico City, with El Tri firmly planting one foot in the Round of 32.
After banking six points from six to take charge of Group A with wins over South Africa (2-0) and Korea Republic (1-0), Javier Aguirre's troops are now primed to do something they have never done before.
A composed finish from 22-year-old AZ Alkmaar left-back Mateo Chávez sent the home crowd into rapture as they watched the young defender net his first-ever senior international goal.
Those celebrations would continue six minutes later when Julián Quiñones pounced on some woeful defending by Czechia to slot home, driving another nail in Repre's summer coffin.

After six months on loan at 1. FC Köln, Felipe Chávez is heading back to Bayern Munich.
The Billy Goats confirmed on Thursday that they will not exercise their option to sign the 19-year-old midfielder on a permanent basis.
Chávez made seven appearances for Köln, playing a total of 96 minutes.
The young Peru international has featured twice for Bayern’s senior team.
His contract with the German double winners runs until the summer of 2027.

It’s a slogan that’s long encapsulated the unique ability of Hugo Chávez's fiercely nationalistic revolution to stay in power in Venezuela for 27 years: “United, we will win!”
The young, the old, ruling party leaders and propagandists alike shout it at official events, street demonstrations and on state television, pumping their fists to show loyalty to the self-described socialist government — and its traditional antipathy toward the United States. Even when confronted with overwhelming truths that defy such bravado, the diverse coalition of military, ideological and opportunistic hangers-on has acted in lockstep.
But cracks in that unity have emerged after the stunning U.S. military operation that captured then- President Nicolás Maduro in January. Longtime loyalists are airing disagreements with the government of acting President Delcy Rodríguez and even discussing publicly rumors that an insider’s betrayal helped the U.S. depose Maduro.
Rodríguez, has done away with some of Chávez’s policies, complied with U.S. demands and shuffled the government to her liking, removing ministers, pushing legislation through the National ******* embly to overhaul the nation's oil industry and releasing political prisoners.
Supporters of Chavismo are making their disapproval known. Many criticize the warming relationship between Rodríguez’s government and the White House, whose occupant, regardless of party, Chavismo has historically seen as its main adversary.
