The Lady Raiders begin their two-exhibition trip to Canada on Thursday. Tech will face a pair of college teams from British Columbia over the weekend, and a cautious approach to the roster's health could push the newcomers into the spotlight.
Purdue transfer Kiki Smith has already been ruled out for the season because of injury, while Jalynn Bristow and Jalayah "Bunny" Ingram were dealing with their own summertime ailments in mid-July. Tech coach Krista Gerlich told the Avalanche-Journal on July 15 the team could be limited to eight players in the exhibitions.

"Bunny got injured (July 14) in practice, so I'm not sure she'll be ready," Gerlich said. "I'm not sure we'll chance it because it's not worth it to me. That's why we're shutting Jalynn down because it's not worth it to me for her to get injured just to play in those two games. We may be rolling out our freshmen and saying, 'Here we go. Welcome to international basketball.'"

Four people were arrested after authorities said hundreds of vehicles blocked all northbound lanes of Interstate 75 during an apparent street takeover in Hillsborough County, Florida early Saturday, prompting a high-speed chase that reached 140 mph.
The incident began around 1:30 a.m. near mile marker 266 in Thonotosassa, where Florida Highway Patrol traffic cameras captured a large gathering of vehicles stopping traffic while some drivers performed burnouts in the middle of the interstate, according to an arrest report.
As troopers responded to the scene, video showed vehicles rapidly dispersing as drivers and spectators rushed back to their cars, the report said. While most of those involved were allowed to leave without facing charges, one green BMW allegedly sped away from the scene, leading a trooper to initiate a pursuit.

But operating profit rose only 5% to €574 million, missing expectations as marketing costs jumped.

BBC Alba is to screen nightly live coverage and highlights throughout the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
The Gaelic broadcaster will be the only place on the BBC where viewers can watch events after TNT Sports secured the rights to be the Games' live UK broadcast partner.
The subscription channel outbid the BBC, which had been the main partner and provided free-to-air coverage since 1954 for 18 Games in a row.
BBC Alba said details on its broadcast times and programming would be announced closer to the start of Glasgow 2026. The channel's Gaelic-language coverage will also be available on BBC iPlayer.

Tottenham Hotspur have announced the signing of forward Kirsty Hanson from Aston Villa.
Spurs are keen to build on their impressive 2025/26 WSL campaign and have now snapped up one of the top scorers last season in Scotland's Hanson on a long-term deal.
The 28-year-old scored 12 times for the Villans in 22 league games last season with only Alessia Russo and Bunny Shaw netting more times in the top flight.

I first saw LeBron James play in person in July 2003 during a now defunct NBA Summer League. Some 2,500 people showed up each night for one of six games in what felt like a high school basketball gym on the campus of UMass Boston.
