Freshman quarterback Faizon Brandon will debut for Tennessee football as the 18th-ranked Vols play Furman in the 2026 season opener on Sept. 5.
Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET with a sellout crowd at Neyland Stadium. It will be streamed on ESPN+ and SEC Network+.
Brandon, 18, is the youngest starting quarterback in UT history. He'll be surrounded by proven performers like 1,000-yard rusher DeSean Bishop, wide receivers Mike Matthews and Braylon Staley and an experienced offensive line.
Jim Knowles will debut as UT defensive coordinator, along with several transfers on defense. And coach Josh Heupel is vying for his 46th win at Tennessee, which would tie Doug ******* ey for sixth place on the Vols' all-time wins list.
