If you had it on your bingo card that Montorie Foster Jr. would be one of the darling stories of the NFL offseason, well, hats off to you. A year removed from working to get his real estate license, former Michigan State football wide receiver Montorie Foster Jr. has been one of the featured players on HBO's Hard Knocks, and recently made the Seattle Seahawks official 53-man roster after an impressive summer.
Foster's journey to making the roster has been well-documented on Hard Knocks, and it reached a climax on Tuesday night, when Foster was finally able to call his parents and tell them that he made the team.
It was a beautiful, emotional moment, and you can watch it below:

The Seattle Seahawks made the somewhat surprising decision to not just release veteran wide receiver Cody White, but to not even retain him on the practice squad like has been the norm over the past couple of seasons. We now know that the next chapter of White's career will be with his former Seahawks offensive coordinator.
White has signed with the Las Vegas Raiders practice squad, which will reunite him with new Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak.
The Raiders have scarcely looked at signing available former Seahawks players, but now they have Cody on the practice squad and free agent signing Dareke Young on their 53-man active roster. If you've taken a look at the Raiders' receiver depth chart, there is a more viable path to game day elevations if not an outright promotion to the active roster for Cody. White joins the waiver-claimed Jared Ivey as the first two Seahawks roster cuts confirmed to be heading elsewhere this season.
White was in competition with Ricky White III, Montorie Foster Jr, and Emmanuel Henderson Jr for the bottom-end of Seattle's wide receiver depth chart. With Jake Bobo out for the year, there figured to be a reasonable chance that Cody would either be on the active roster or signed back to Seattle's practice squad. The fact that neither happened is yet another strong endorsement for the rise of Foster, who appeared to separate himself pretty clearly from Ricky White and Henderson throughout camp and preseason.
We'll always have this moment, Cody White! And you've got a ring as a result.

It is cutdown day in the National Football League, and teams needed to get their rosters down to 53 players ahead of the 6 p.m. deadline on Sunday. For the Seattle Seahawks, their roster cuts came with some good news for one former Spartan, but some bad news for another former Spartan.
While Montorie Foster Jr. made the roster, it meant that former MSU wide receiver Cody White was edged out of a roster spot, and subsequently was released by the Seahawks.
After going undrafted in 2021, White got his NFL career started with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he played 16 games over two seasons. Most recently, White was featured in 14 games with the Seahawks over the last two seasons. In his career, he has 11 catches for 169 yards and a touchdown.

Even though he'd just showered, Montorie Foster Jr. was already sweating.
It had nothing to do with the muggy Missouri summer night.
It had everything to do with a question that will dog the high school substitute teacher and real-estate agent in Cleveland all this weekend.
Did I do enough?
"I didn't end it how I wanted," said the wide receiver in an unlikely bid to make the Super Bowl-champion Seahawks for the start of the regular season.

Montorie Foster Jr. is having himself a summer to remember. Less than a year removed from getting his real estate license thinking his football career was on the brink, the former Michigan State football wide receiver has been getting a lot of buzz for his play during the Seattle Seahawks' training camp. The Seahawks are currently being featured on HBO's Hard Knocks, and in this week's episode, Foster was heavily featured as one of the stars.
The Hard Knocks crew captured a lot of Foster's story, which includes substitute teaching and real estate licenses, before showing several coaches and players gushing about his play this offseason, which started at a strong performance in spring minicamps, and parlayed into a strong training camp performance.
The segment culminated in the Seahawks' preseason game, where Foster caught a touchdown pass in the first quarter. You can watch some of the clip here:

Our beloved Seattle Seahawks played their first preseason game of the 2026 season and lost. In doing so, they did not look particularly unbeatable, which is to be expected of a team looking to fill depth on the roster. The discourse before yesterday was centered on the hopeful and expected improvement of young Jalen Milroe and a developing skill set. The reviews are in and people are talking. Did you watch the game yesterday? If so, what did you think about Jalen Milroe's performance? Where would you like to see improvement? Who else stood out to you on the field yesterday? Anybody unexpected look fantastic to you? Let us know in the comments below. Thanks for being here. Happy Monday. Go, 'Hawks!

A former Michigan State football wide receiver found the end zone in a NFL preseason game on Saturday.
Former Spartans wide receiver Montorie Foster Jr. scored a touchdown for the Seattle Seahawks in a NFL preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday night. Foster reeled in a pass from Drew Lock for a five-yard touchdown in the first quarter of Saturday's preseason matchup.
Foster appeared in 54 games across his five-year career with the Spartans from 2020 to 2024. He recorded 108 receptions for 1,426 yards and eight touchdowns during his playing days with the Spartans.
Foster went undrafted during the 2025 NFL Draft, but eventually landed on the Seahawks' practice squad last December. He is currently battling for a spot on their roster this year, with Saturday's preseason showing certainly helping his chances.
Watch the touchdown highlight from Foster in the embedded social media post below:
