It didn't take long for us to have our first Juventus injury of the worry for preseason training. And just like the most notable one that is basically carrying over from the end of the 2025-26 season that had us all wondering how the heck the best player on the roster was going to look when he played in his first World Cup, this is something that has not gone away since Juve's season-ending draw to Torino in May.
So while Kenan Yildiz's lingering knee issue will certainly be a topic of discussion when he returns from his deserved albeit shortened summer vacation after spending a few weeks in North America last month, the first day of Juventus players rolling up to Continassa for training and medical exams revealed something.
More specifically, a thing on Khephren Thuram's right knee.
That is because the knee issue that hampered Thuram late in the 2025-26 season is still present. And that was evident as Thuram walked out of J Medical after Monday's checkups with a fairly large wrap on his right knee — a clear sign that the femoro-patellar syndrome is still a thing. Thuram has not been training with the rest of the group at Continassa as manager Luciano Spalletti leads his first preseason in Turin, and it's unclear when one of Juventus' most important players will actually join the rest of his teammates as they wait for the small number of World Cup participants to arrive over the next couple of weeks.
Thuram is not expected to take part in the first preseason friendly of the summer on Saturday when Juventus travel to Switzerland to face old friend Stephan Lichtsteiner and FC Basel.

In a recent report, Calciomercato mentioned that Sunderland are in the mix to land Juventus midfielder Khephren Thuram. It has been stated that the Black Cats would have to compete with Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, Liverpool and Manchester United in the race to sign the French midfield ace this summer.
The 25-year-old put in a string of impressive displays at the centre of Juventus’ midfield in the previous campaign. Thuram scored four times and picked up five ******* ists in 45 matches for the Turin outfit last season across all fronts.
The French talent is currently one of the most talented central midfielders in Serie A. Hence, it is no surprise that Sunderland are in the race to acquire his services later this year.
His current contract at the Allianz Stadium will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it difficult for the Black Cats to sign him on the cheap this off-season.

NEW DELHI, July 3 (Reuters) - India's coal-fired power generation surged to a near-three-year high in June because of increased cooling demand from higher temperatures from an extended heatwave and below-average monsoon rainfall, government data showed.
India's total electricity generation in June rose 10.4% from a year ago to 178.31 billion kilowatt‑hours, according to Reuters calculations of daily data from federal grid regulator Grid-India.
Coal-fired power generation rose about 14% year-on-year to 120.20 billion kWh in June, the highest since November 2023, the data showed.
Last month, India logged its fifth-driest June since 1901 due to a strong El Nino pattern, with searing heat driving demand for cooling, according to weather office data. The El Nino is a weather phenomenon caused by a warming of the Pacific Ocean waters off South America that tends to cause hot, dry weather in South and Southeast Asia.

Rayan Cherki’s (22) frustration over his limited playing time at the World Cup is growing, according to a report from L’Équipe. Despite arriving at the tournament following an excellent debut season with Manchester City, the 22-year-old has played just 55 minutes across four substitute appearances for Didier Deschamps’ side.
Cherki has struggled with the situation behind the scenes, even suffering sleepless nights, although those close to the player insist he understands the fierce competition for places in France’s star-studded attack, with Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé, Bradley Barcola and Michael Olise all stealing the headlines at one point or another during the tournament thus far.
Footage of the playmaker appearing to ignore Deschamps after the 3-0 victory over Sweden fuelled speculation of a rift, but his entourage maintain the reaction reflected disappointment with himself rather than disrespect towards the head coach. Senior figures including Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé and Marcus Thuram are supporting the OL academy product, reassuring him that his opportunity will come as Les Bleus prepare to face Paraguay in the Round of 16.

France face Sweden on Tuesday at East Rutherford's MetLife Stadium for their 2026 FIFA World Cup last-32. After winning Group I with three consecutive wins against Senegal (3-1), Iraq (3-0) and Norway (4-1), Les Bleusare the overwhelming favourites against Graham Potter's side, although Adrien Rabiot is adamant his teammates won't let their guard down.
Didier Deschamps, who has returned to the France camp after attending his motehr's funeral on Friday, has announced that Inter Milan's Marcus Thuram will miss out. Fenerbahçe's N'Golo Kanté is also a doubt, but the pair was not expected to start anyway.
Compared to Friday's win, Deschamps is understood to make some changes. After being rested against Norway, ***** nal's William Saliba is set to get his spot back alongside Dayot Upamecano. Aston Villa's Lucas Digne is expected to get the nod ahead of Théo Hernandez, who conceded a penalty against Norway.
The left side of Frace's frightening attack is set to be tweaked too with the introduction of Bradley Barcola at the expense of Désiré Doué. Should they win against Sweden, Les Bleus will face Paraguay on July 4th.

After missing out on Champions League qualification, record-time Serie A champions Juventus are preparing for a massive summer overhaul. Despite Dusan Vlahovic’s imminent departure, head coach Luciano Spalletti is particularly keen on reinforcing the midfield department.
Juventus desperately lacked creativity this past season. Not even a decent-looking average of 1.6 goals per game was enough to mask the problem. To better illustrate the depth of the issue, newly crowned champions Inter outscored the Bianconeri by a staggering 28 goals in Serie A.
Needless to say, heads are about to roll.
Once considered among the most reliable deep-lying midfielders in Serie A, Teun Koopmeiners joined Juventus from Atalanta in a €60 million deal in 2024. Fast forward two years, and the Dutch star looks set to leave Turin as a flop, with the club ready to cash in on the 28-year-old.
Khephren Thuram is unlikely to face the same fate, even though Inter have earmarked him as one of their potential targets to strengthen their midfield options. However, it’s hard to discard this transfer just yet, especially if Cristian Chivu’s charges fail to sign Roma talisman Manu Kone.

There are two big questions for France going into their FIFA World Cup opener against Senegal on Tuesday night.
The first pertains to who will start on the left wing. Marcus Thuram started there against the Ivory Coast in a World Cup warm-up, however, it was Désiré Doué who started against Northern Ireland. He struggled and there have been reports that Bradley Barcola may be preferred to his Paris Saint-Germain teammate. However, L’Équipe understands that it will be Doué who gets the nod.
With Michael Olise being pushed out to the right, Ousmane Dembélé will likely start in the No.10 role. The second question mark pertains to the fitness of William Saliba. The ****** nal defender continues to contend with a back injury but is expected to start for Les Bleus against Senegal.

France got the final part of their World Cup preparations underway by hosting Ivory Coast in Nantes. Didier Deschamps, who was serenaded for his return to his former La Beaujoire ground, opted to give PSG’s Champions League winners at his disposal a breather.
With Bradley Barcola, Désiré Doué and Ousmane Dembélé all benched, Rayan Cherki was handed the playmaker role, between left-winger Marcus Thuram and Michael Olise on the other side. Les Bleus captain Kylian Mbappé leads the line.
France dominated possession, but they were far from clinical in the final third. Kylian Mbappé and Rayan Cherki missed big chances in the first half, whereas Ivory Coast’s best chances stemmed from Les Bleus’ unforced errors. Mike Maignan proved alert to save Aurélien Tchouaméni’s blushes after the Real Madrid midfielder was too easily dispossessed by Simon Adingra.
Ivory Coast goalkeeper Yahia Fofana was called into action more often than not, but there was nothing he could do to prevent Cherki from opening the scoring. The Manchester City playmaker recovered the ball from Ibrahima Konaté, breezed past Seko Fofana and Yan Diomandé before finding the bottom right corner.
