A Bitcoin (BTCUSD) treasury is only as strong as the financing behind it. That reality is front and center for Strategy (MSTR), formerly MicroStrategy, which has shifted its immediate priority from adding to its Bitcoin reserve toward safeguarding liquidity and managing the obligations attached to its preferred-stock capital structure.
Strategy raised $333.7 million by selling its shares to repurchase Stretch (STRC) preferred and added $149.1 million to its U.S. dollar reserve. Importantly, the company made no Bitcoin purchases or sales during the week, leaving its holdings unchanged at 840,447 BTC.

There are two ways to run a religion. Hold the line on doctrine and go broke, or quietly break your own commandment and live to preach another Sunday. Michael Saylor has picked door number 2, and the congregation, after a few weeks of shrieking, has mostly forgiven him. The uncomfortable thing for the Bitcoin faithful now is that he was probably right to do it.
Strategy Inc. reported Q2 2026 earnings last week, and the company that everyone had spent June and July writing obituaries for is still standing. Cash reserves came in at $5.7 billion, the gross dollar value of Strategy's Treasury Reserve, with net reserves of $3.57 billion after senior claims and financial obligations. Both were up.
Getting there required Saylor to do the one thing he swore he never would. STRC, the company's high-yield fixed-income instrument, broke its $100 peg and sank to $70, and Strategy started selling Bitcoin to cover dividend costs.
The most recent batch went out between July 27 and August 2: 1,638 BTC for roughly $104.7 million at an average price of $63,957, plus another $290.6 million raised through common stock sales, per CoinDesk. Strategy's own X post on August 3 framed this as a $250 million boost to its USD Reserve and an $81 million buyback of STRC (912,143 shares), noting it had "increased USD Duration by 57 days to 2.3 years and tightened STRC's BTC Credit by 5 bps." What the post skipped: against a cost basis of $75,419 per BTC, that sale booked a loss of about $20 million.

In the lastest Bitcoin news today, Strategy (Nasdaq: MSTR), Michael Saylor's bitcoin treasury company, disclosed the sale of 1,638 BTC for approximately $105 million in an 8-K filing with the SEC.
Proceeds are expected to fund dividend payments on Strategy's preferred stock classes – including STRC, STRK, STRD, STRF, and STRE – and to pay for repurchases of STRC preferred shares.
This is not simply a Bitcoin sale. It is a capital structure management exercise, with Strategy running a parallel set of levers – BTC monetization and reserve allocation – to service a preferred-stock stack that carries rising cash obligations.

Strategy liquidated the 1,638 BTC at an average of roughly $64,000 per coin, a price that sits materially below the firm's all-in average acquisition cost of $75,419. Despite offloading a portion of its reserves and now sitting on a $10.9 billion paper loss, Strategy remains one of the largest corporate holders of Bitcoin globally, and the $105 million sale represents a small fraction of its total portfolio.

Late Friday evening, a judge in Colorado made a decision that could bring significant change to college athletics, especially college football, ahead of the 2026 season.
College athletes who graduated high school in 2022 and just exhausted their college eligibility this past year have been granted a class-wide preliminary injunction to play a fifth season.
The ruling came from Judge Charlotte Sweeney of the U.S. Distrct Court of Colorado on Friday, July 31.
With the new ruling in place, at least temporarily, a few Colorado football players from the Buffaloes' 2025 roster would be eligible to play the 2026 season. Those players are edge rusher Keaten Wade, placekicker Alejandro Mata and kickoff specialist Buck Buchanan.
Adding any of those three likely would not change much with Coloroso's 2026 roster, and CU currently has only one roster spot open. Mata, however, did respond to the ruling on social media, hinting he would be interested in a return.

Khing Oei, a former Goldman Sachs credit investor, says the market has Strategy's STRC preferred stock priced wrong. His math says it is worth about $96. It trades near $85.
Oei spent 25 years valuing risky debt at Goldman Sachs and hedge funds. He shared his STRC model in a recent lengthy discussion.
STRC pays a 12% dividend. Divide that by today's discounted price and you get a yield above 14%. That number is everywhere. Oei says it is wrong.
Here is the problem. That math ****** umes STRC pays out forever, no matter what. STRC promises no such thing. It never matures and never has to repay its $100 face value, known as par. It pays only while MicroStrategy can afford it.
The shares crashed 25% below par during June's Bitcoin selloff. That is what made the yield look so juicy.

Speculation about another Bitcoin sale from MicroStrategy intensified after an unconfirmed on-chain transfer showed 491 BTC leaving a company-linked wallet on July 1. Neither MicroStrategy nor its Executive Chairman, Michael Saylor, has confirmed any sale.
The rumor spread across X (Twitter) on Friday. Meanwhile, Bitcoin (BTC) traded higher after July 1, suggesting the market easily absorbed the alleged transaction.
Pseudonymous trader Light flagged the transfer, worth roughly $30 million at current prices. That equals just 0.058% of the 847,363 BTC Strategy reported in its latest SEC disclosure. The stack covers about 4% of bitcoin's 21 million coin supply.
The timing explains the attention. Strategy adopted a Bitcoin monetization framework plan on June 29, authorizing up to $1.25 billion in tactical sales to fund dividends and buybacks. Its raised 12% STRC preferred dividend took effect on July 1, the same day as the alleged transfer.
The company also completed its first Bitcoin sale since 2022 in late May, offloading 32 BTC to cover preferred stock dividends. Its only earlier sale came in December 2022.

Things are going from bad to worse for Supermicro (SMCI). In June, SMCI stock fell badly after Supermicro announced that it was seeking $7 billion in funding to pay for a backlog of $39 billion in orders. More recently, however, the company's offices in Taiwan were raided by local government agents as part of an ongoing investigation related to allegations of smuggling Nvidia (NVDA) GPUs into China.
SMCI stock fell 8% on June 29 and is now down 46% in the last month. Investors are understandably cautious. Supermicro doesn't have the best of reputations, considering it was temporarily delisted from the Nasdaq in 2018 for not filing timely financial reports, then fined in 2020 by U.S. regulators for accounting violations.

Not every tech stock with growth potential has to be a mega-cap. In fact, companies usually start as lesser-known names. They weren't the first names investors thought of back then, but now they dominate the ******* es they operate in. And, at some point, there comes a time when companies start to focus on shareholder value through buybacks, or better yet, paying dividends. For income investors, that creates an interesting setup. Instead of chasing only the biggest tech names, investors can also look for companies that offer fair yields, reasonable payout ratios, and enough room to keep growing.
So let's take a look at these dividend-paying tech stocks that might be flying under your radar.

The price of Bitcoin continued to turn lower on Thursday as Strategy's flagship preferred stock notched another record low after U.S. markets opened.
Not long after the opening bell, Stretch (STRC), the product that currently offers an 11.5% annual dividend, fell 8% to $74.13, according to Yahoo Finance. That marked a more than 25% drift from its $100 par value, at which Strategy engineered the preferred stock to trade.
Meanwhile, Bitcoin plunged. The leading digital ****** et by market cap fell to $58,188 before ticking back up to $59,273 as of this writing, a 3.3% decrease over the past day, according to CoinGecko. The drop exacerbated losses, following the cryptocurrency's fall to a 21-month low on Wednesday.
Strategy's stock price has been hammered in recent weeks as STRC's swoon has tested faith in Executive Chairman and co-founder Michael Saylor's vision for "digital credit." The company's common MSTR shares tumbled 7% to $87.50 before firming to $87.89 apiece.
Liquidations across the crypto market rapidly accelerated as Bitcoin and other ****** ets fell Thursday. CoinGlass data shows more than $1.44 billion in positions liquidated over the past 24 hours, dominated by long positions—or bets that an ****** et's price will increase—at $1.2 billion. Bitcoin is leading the carnage with $658 million in total liquidations.

Digital credit faced its first real stress test this week, as MicroStrategy's STRC preferred stock crashed, prompting critics to declare the Bitcoin-backed ***** et class dead.
Bitcoin (BTC) itself has weathered the same obituaries many times before. On-chain data now tells a different story, with network activity climbing to multi-year highs even as the price slides.
Digital credit is a young class of income-generating securities backed by Bitcoin. Companies holding large Bitcoin reserves issue structured products such as preferred equity and convertible notes.
They use the proceeds to buy more Bitcoin. The aim is straightforward. Long-term BTC appreciation should outpace the dividends and interest those products owe.
Strategy, formerly MicroStrategy, built the clearest example with its STRC preferred stock. STRC has a $100 par value and pays a high, variable yield near 12% per year.

Strategy's (NASDAQ: $MSTR) dividend-paying preferred stock (NASDAQ: $STRC) is crashing as investors worry about the sustainability of the monthly distribution.
Strategy's preferred stock finished trading on June 16 at $91.79 U.S., its third-lowest level since trading began in July 2025.
STRC stock has been designed to trade as close as possible to its $100 U.S. par value. However, it has remained below that level for an extended period.

MicroStrategy bought 1,587 Bitcoin (BTC) for $100 million between June 8 and June 14, paying an average of $63,024 per coin. To fund it, the company sold $209 million of common stock, more than twice what it spent.
The gap shows where the rest of the money went. MicroStrategy steered the surplus into a cash reserve set aside for dividends and debt, rather than into more Bitcoin.
MicroStrategy raised the full $209 million by selling 1,732,553 MSTR shares through its at-the-market program. It tapped none of its preferred stock lines during the period.
That marks a shift. The company has leaned on high-yield preferred issues such as STRC to fund buys for much of the past year. It still holds wide capacity, including a $21 billion common-stock program cleared in March.
Relying on common stock dilutes existing holders. The choice also signals which funding door stayed open while the share price sat under pressure.

Michael Saylor Sees CLARITY Act as a Turning Point for Bitcoin Adoption
Michael Saylor says the next major step in U.S. crypto legislation could give Bitcoin and digital-asset finance a clearer path into the capital markets.
The Strategy executive chairman framed the CLARITY Act markup as more than another regulatory checkpoint, arguing that the bill could help unlock a wider market for digital capital, digital credit and digital equity. His comments come as lawmakers prepare to review the Digital **** et Market Clarity Act, a bill designed to define how crypto markets are overseen between the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
For Strategy, the debate has direct market relevance. Saylor said the legislation could validate Bitcoin, support broader adoption of MSTR and provide a stronger framework for STRC, the company’s “Stretch” preferred shares.

Strategy (MSTR) Buys $43 Million More Bitcoin After Saylor Defends Potential BTC...
Strategy added 535 more BTC for $43 million days after Michael Saylor said the company may consider selling part of its bitcoin holdings for the first time.
Strategy (NASDAQ: MSTR) purchased 535 bitcoin for approximately $43.0 million at an average price of $80,340 per coin, the company disclosed Monday in a Form 8-K filing. The firm now holds 818,869 BTC, acquired for roughly $61.86 billion at an average cost of $75,540 per bitcoin, and has recorded a bitcoin yield of 9.4% year-to-date in 2026.
The acquisition was funded through $0.1 million raised via Strategy’s STRC ATM program and $42.9 million from its MSTR ATM offering.
The purchase comes six days after executive chairman Michael Saylor told investors on the company’s Q1 earnings call that Strategy was prepared to sell a portion of its bitcoin holdings for the first time. This statement drew immediate scrutiny from a market that had long viewed the company’s accumulation strategy as one-directional.
Saylor moved to contain the narrative over the weekend. In a podcast interview, he said that for every bitcoin sold, the company would buy 10 to 20 more. “You should be a net accumulator of bitcoin,” he said. “You want to end every year with more bitcoin than you started.” Monday’s purchase suggests the buying has not slowed.
