Crystal Palace have been handed a boost in their pursuit of former England youth international Charlie Cresswell (23), as per a report from L’Équipe.
It was reported by Ouest-France earlier in the week that the Toulouse FC defender had agreed terms over a move to Stade Rennais. The defender is a long-term target for the Breton club and they have been looking to complete a deal ahead of their upcoming UEFA Europa League campaign.
L’Équipe understands that Rennes have now submitted a bid to Toulouse, however, it is below the latter’s €25m valuation of the player. The publication adds that it is unlikely that Rennes will match that valuation.

Pierre Sage’s move to Crystal Palace looks set to be confirmed. As per reports from L’Équipe, RMC Sport and Fabrizio Romano, an agreement for the Frenchman to make the move to Selhurst Park is imminent. RMC Sport understands that RC Lens will pocket up to €5m in the deal.

The 43-year-old is understood to be the preferred candidate to succeed Arne Slot in the role after his recent departure from Bournemouth, and Sky sources reported on Sunday that negotiations with the Spaniard are ‘ongoing and advanced’.
