In his new memoir, One ***** of a Ride, Douglas recalls that Kobe Bryant, who lived above Zeta-Jones' home in Pacific Palisades, California, kept stopping by while the couple was trying to make their long-distance relationship work.
"Apparently Kobe kept finding excuses to stop by Catherine's house. I'm not sure how many times he 'lost his dog,' but it was a lot!" Douglas wrote.

A family friend of Chad Lowe's late daughter, Fiona, is sharing some insight into the teen's mindset ahead of her tragic death.
Music executive Mykesha Robinson, whose daughter Faith was best friends with Fiona in elementary school, told the Daily Mail that "something happened" to the 13-year-old after the devastating fires ravaged Los Angeles' Pacific Palisades neighborhood in January 2025, killing at least 28 people and destroying more than 16,000 structures, including the Lowe family home.
"They lost everything," Robinson added.
Robinson claimed that Faith and Fiona met on the first day of school at Palisades Charter Elementary School in the Pacific Palisades, California, and quickly became "two peas in a pod," earning the nickname "FiFi" among their friends.

Billy Crystal stopped by Wednesday night's episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" to explain the origins of his new, one-man Broadway show and reveal why he is "so grateful" that he gets to actually bring it to audiences.
Crystal **** led the show "860," which was the street address of the house that he and his family lived in for 46 years before it was destroyed last year in California's devastating Palisades Fire. In the aftermath of his home's destruction, Crystal said he began to impulsively film and document every moment on his phone, starting with shots of first responders' planes flying overhead to drop water on the fires.
"I started filming the planes coming over and all that stuff, and I never stopped filming. Whenever there was another event happening, I would just capture everything," Crystal said, adding, "I started, in my mind, writing a narrative about everything that was happening. I didn't know what form it was going to take. It might have been a documentary. It might have just been for us, you know? It kept the pain away from me."
"Over time, I started writing stories that went along with the videos that I was taking," Crystal continued. "It started to be not only very dramatic, but also really funny because most of it takes place inside the house."

With their second round pick this afternoon, the A’s took USC left-handed pitcher Mason Edwards, the 47th pick in the 2026 MLB Draft:
The organization is adding a second college prospect this afternoon, another that looks like he could move through the system rather quickly. The lefty (who turns 21 on Tuesday) has quality control of his three-pitch ***** nal, which features a low-90’s fastball, a “bender” than acts in a slurvy motion, and a quality third off-speed pitch that has plenty of fade on it. None of them alone are a truly elite pitch but he does a great job in combining them to change batter’s eye level and has deception in his delivery. In his final year at USC he posted a 2.07 ERA in 17 starts, with 169 strikeouts in just 95 2/3 innings.
Here’s what MLB Pipeline had to say about the newest Athletics prospect:
Scouting grades: Fastball: 50 | Curveball: 60 | Changeup: 55 | Control: 50 | Overall: 50
Edwards is a Los Angeles area native who attended Palisades High School, earning back-to-back league pitcher of the year honors as well as consecutive first-team all-city nods in 2022 and 2023. After heading just a stone’s throw away to Southern Cal for college, the left-hander served as a swingman type for the Trojans, amassing just over 70 innings combined. A strong fall showing has been followed up by a solid spring leading the weekend rotation, which has kept the scouting industry’s interest piqued.

Traditional home insurance prices risk by zip code — a system built for mail delivery, not wildfire prediction. That's why entire neighborhoods get flagged "uninsurable" even when some houses on the block would clearly survive a fire. A new wave of startups — Kettle, Delos, Kin — are throwing out the zip code model entirely, using satellite imagery, lidar, and AI to ***** s fire risk house by house. The results are wild: one model correctly predicted 97% of the homes that actually burned in California's wildfires, and another wrote 25,000 policies in fire-prone areas without a single loss in the Palisades and Eaton fires. We dig into how they're rebuilding insurance from the ground up — and the outdated regulations, like a 1988 California law, still standing in their way.

Failed Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt seethed about New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani as he ranted about the evils of communism on social media Saturday.
In a five-and-a-half-minute video staged in the ruins of his home in Pacific Palisades, California, which burned down in the Pacific Palisades fires last year, Pratt called Mamdani a "vile commie."
Politics: Stephen Miller Takes His 'Divine' Praise Of Trump To An Absolutely Bizarre New Level
Wearing a shirt that said "anti socialists social club," Pratt criticized the progressive's Fourth of July speech marking America's 250th anniversary, as he raged that, "We all had to sit and watch that vile, commie mayor sit on the wrong side of our founding father's desk to try to lecture us about our own history."
In his speech, Mamdani rebuked the right's anti-immigration stance while outlining an inclusive vision of patriotism as he sat at a desk that once belonged to President George Washington surrounded by 10 newly naturalized American citizens.

Spencer Pratt continued his plight to save Los Angeles only days after conceding in the mayoral race against incumbent Karen Bass.
Pratt, 42, gave the public nod of approval to the LA mayor's brother, Kenneth Bass, who last month sued the city, state, and additional agencies as part of broader legal action filed following the deadly Palisades fire.
"I am proud to be teaming up with Karen Bass' brother in suing his sister for her reckless negligence that led to the destruction of our homes," Pratt posted on X Saturday.

A total of 68 players made the cut, which fell at 4 over. A total of nine strokes separated the leaders from those who went home.
Here's a list of notables who exited early:
Michelle Wie West said goodbye once again to the championship that cemented her legacy in the game, this time with a warm embrace from daughter Makenna on the ninth green. Wie shot 75-74. "Obviously I would be lying to say I wasn't disappointed," said Wie West "I would have loved to have made the cut today, grinder all day. But I had a blast honestly."
The five-time major champion played this week on a special exemption. Tseng played alongside Wie West for the first two rounds. She shot 73-76.

The 81st U.S. Women’s Open is officially underway this week at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California.

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Nelly Korda is the undisputed favorite this week at Riviera, with BetMGM putting her odds at +400. World No. 1s haven't exactly thrived, however, at the U.S. Women's Open in recent decades.
LPGA Hall of Famer Inbee Park is the last No. 1 to win the Women's Open in 2013. Before that, it was Annika Sorenstam in 2006, the year the Rolex Rankings debuted.
What's happened in the women's game in recent years at the majors, in fact, stands in stark contrast to the men's side. Of the last 10 men's major, seven winners were ranked in the top 3 of the Official World Golf Rankings at the time of their victory.
In LPGA majors, only three of the last 17 major winners were in the top 10 at the time (Korda, 2024 and 2026 Chevron) and Lilia Vu (2023 AIG Women's British Open).
Over the past 10 years, the winners of the U.S. Women's Open had an average ranking of 30. Last year's champion, Maja Stark, was 33rd in the world when she won.

Trump says no to low-income housing in fire-ravaged Pacific Palisades

President Donald Trump reiterated that he doesn’t want the construction of low-income housing in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles, as it slowly recovers from last year's deadly wildfires.
During his first administration Cabinet meeting of the year on Jan. 29, Trump tapped into his real estate expertise, saying he's not going to allow it happen in the beach-adjacent community known for its upscale, expensive housing. The Palisades Fire, which killed 12 people, burned more than 23,000 acres, including nearly 7,000
