The "near future" still isn't very clear.
New Mexico head coach Jason Eck said Monday that quarterback Jack Layne still doesn't have a clear timeline to return from a nagging elbow injury.
The Lobos' fifth-year quarterback missed all of spring practice after undergoing offseason surgery to repair a torn tendon in his elbow. While Layne has been active in each of UNM's five practices, he has not been observed throwing with his right arm despite doing so earlier this summer.
Jack Layne still doesn't have a clear timeline to return, per Jason Eck.
"He's frustrated with it. Just trying to keep his head up." https://t.co/7LbTyFJSGl pic.twitter.com/nQUkJbDqK6

Michael B Jordan and Raye have sparked dating rumours.
The pair were spotted spending time together at Six Flags Magic Mountain theme park outside Los Angeles at the weekend.
In a viral photo shared to social media, the duo boarded a roller coaster, with the singer smiling at the Sinners actor as they chatted happily, while fans looked on.
Jordan's theme park appearance with Raye follows a string of high-profile pairings, beginning with Kendall Jenner, with whom he was spotted leaving the same Met Gala after-party in New York City back in 2015.
He was subsequently briefly linked to If Beale Street Could Talk star Kiki Layne, and French fashion model Cindy Bruna, after being spotted out with them.
Jordan's most publicly visible romance was with model Lori Harvey, whom he dated from around autumn 2020 to mid-2022.

New Mexico opens fall camp on Wednesday, exactly one month before the Lobos start their second season under head coach Jason Eck. And perhaps no season in recent history has been subject to as much excitement and anticipation as the one ahead, after UNM finished a surprising 9-4 last year.
There are, however, a few questions amid the hype.
Here's five things I'd like to learn about UNM over the next month, from how its pass rush will look to whether a few veterans might be able to return:
1. Who will start at quarterback?
Last year, UNM held a quarterback competition between Jack Layne and James Laubstein, one that was a little closer than some might remember. But it always seemed that Layne had an upper hand — after all, he had played in this offense for three seasons at Idaho prior to arriving at UNM.

The Clash is expected to have a new home in 2027. According to The Athletic's Jordan Bianchi, the Clash is expected to return to Daytona International Speedway after a six-year hiatus. After a two-year run at Bowman Gray Stadium, NASCAR will go back to Daytona for its opening exhibition event.
According to Bianchi, the Clash at Daytona is expected to be held on Saturday, February 13, 2027, which is one day before the Super Bowl and a week before the Daytona 500. The NASCAR insider also says a new sponsor is expected to partner with the Clash next season.
NASCAR should run the Clash at Daytona, as there is no better fit for the opening weekend of the season. While Bowman Gray and Los Angeles put on good shows, Daytona is where the Clash belongs. The 2027 NASCAR season isn't here yet, but excitement is already in the air about the possibility.

NASCAR is gearing up for the 24th race weekend of the 2026 season at Lucas Oil Raceway, and the Truck Series is bound to put on a show. In 2025, Layne Riggs beat Corey Day for his second win of the year. Now, the sport will head to Lucas Oil with a substantial amount of money on the line.
The purse for the Truck Series race at Lucas Oil will be $789,700 on Friday night. NASCAR doesn't release the earnings for the winning driver anymore, meaning it's impossible to tell how much of the $789,700 will go toward the team in victory lane. Last year, the purse for Lucas Oil sat at $782,900, which is a $6,800 increase.
It will be fascinating to see which NASCAR driver will earn the most money at Lucas Oil this weekend. Riggs is looking to go back-to-back in the race at Lucas Oil, but Grant Enfinger and Ty Majeski had good trucks in 2025. Lucas Oil always puts on a show, and this weekend should be no different.

LAS VEGAS — Hurt or not, Jack Layne isn’t making excuses after last season.
“Last year, I think we were good as an offense, but we can be better, and I think we will be better this year,” New Mexico’s fifth-year senior said last Wednesday at Mountain West Media Days. “And, you know, everyone’s dealing with injuries – it’s not just me. Everyone’s got something.”
By all indications, Layne shouldn’t be dealing with something soon.
After undergoing offseason surgery to repair a torn tendon in his elbow, Layne said his arm is “feeling good” entering what’s expected to be a four-player quarterback competition during fall camp.
The 6-foot-2, 209-pound former Idaho transfer tore his common flexor tendon last season during warmups ahead of a 35-10 win over UCLA, the Lobos’ fourth game of the season. But the injury went undiagnosed until Layne underwent a routine clean-up procedure in late December, with the significance of the tear surprising both him and his surgeon.

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) hosts its Advancing AI event in San Francisco on July 22-3, and Jefferies expects a busy day. ******* yst Blayne Curtis, who has a "Buy" rating and a $615 price target, thinks AMD will raise its estimate of the total market for its processors past $200 billion. He expects fresh details on the MI500 chips due after the current generation. The part investors will be keen on watching is the customer list. The ******* yst believes Microsoft (MSFT) is signed up for the MI450. There are also growing talks of a deal with Anthropic, which has reportedly been hiring engineers familiar with AMD's software.
The reason a new customer matters so much comes down to how AMD won the last two. To land OpenAI and Meta Platforms (META), each committing to six gigawatts of chips, AMD handed both companies warrants to buy up to 160 million shares. Combined, AMD has promised away about a fifth of itself to secure those orders.

Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ:AVGO) is one of the top stocks to buy according to Whale Rock Capital Management. On June 30, Jefferies ***** yst Blayne Curtis reiterated his Buy rating and $550 price target on Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ:AVGO). The ***** yst cited an improving outlook for the company's AI chip business.
A key pillar of Curtis' thesis is Broadcom's improving visibility into FY2028 earnings. In fact, Jefferies ran a scenario ***** ysis that points to earnings per share of between $30 and $40 for that year, which translates into a valuation multiple of roughly 10 times earnings.
Curtis also pointed to an on-track roadmap for Broadcom's custom Tensor Processing Units, the AI chips it co-designs with Google. He noted that this partnership now extends through 2031 under a long-term agreement that guarantees minimum revenue and offers potential upside of more than $500 billion over that period.
Beyond Google, Jefferies highlighted a broadening customer base for Broadcom's application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs). These are the custom chips built for individual AI customers. According to the ***** yst, the broadening customer is an encouraging sign that the company is diversifying away from reliance on a single buyer. One example of such diversification is Broadcom's new partnership with OpenAI, through which the two companies unveiled Jalapeno. This is OpenAI's first custom AI accelerator chip designed specifically for running large language model inference workloads.
Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ:AVGO) is a semiconductor and infrastructure software company. It designs, develops, and supplies semiconductor devices and software solutions, including networking connectivity products, wireless device connectivity components, server and storage system solutions, and broadband access technologies.

NEW YORK, July 3 (Reuters) - Celebrity guests in tuxedos and gowns began arriving at New York's Madison Square Garden on Friday for what was widely expected to be a glitzy wedding celebration for pop megastar Taylor Swift and football player Travis Kelce, the couple that has enchanted fans with a three-year love story.
Retired soccer star Abby Wambach and her wife, author Glennon Doyle, were among the first guests seen entering the sports arena on foot under extreme temperatures that hit 100 degrees Fahrenheit (38 degrees Celsius). Kelce's teammate, Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones, and Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Cooper Kupp, were also spotted walking in, as was "Ted Lasso" star Jason Sudeikis. Others who arrived included actors Hugh Grant and Ethan Hawke.
Black sport utility vehicles snarled traffic as they drove into the facility, stopping when workers asked occupants to show electronic tickets for verification.
"Watch your toes!" yelled a person at the checkpoint to the crowd while guests' cars passed a few feet away.

Noah Gragson's future in NASCAR is uncertain. Despite earning a second season with Front Row Motorsports, Gragson has struggled to produce like his teammates, Zane Smith and Todd Gilliland. Plus, Layne Riggs is waiting in the wings. So, where will the driver of the No. 4 car race during the 2027 NASCAR season?
Motorsports Wire is predicting that Gragson will drive for JR Motorsports during the 2027 NASCAR O'Reilly Series season. Riggs seems like a great candidate for a promotion to the Cup Series, so he is a logical fit for the No. 4 car. After a rough journey in the Cup Series, dropping back to the O'Reilly Series would do wonders for Gragson's career.
There could be a possible fit at Richard Childress Racing, but would the organization put Gragson in the No. 33 Cup car? Austin Hill has run well after replacing the late Kyle Busch. For now, Gragson would love to compete at NASCAR's top level, but winning races in the O'Reilly Series wouldn't be a bad option either.

The NASCAR Truck Series competed in San Diego, and it was a thrilling event. Seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson led the race; however, he wasn't able to pull through after multiple issues late in the event. Instead, it was a Front Row Motorsports driver who stole the show.
Layne Riggs and the No. 34 team for Front Row Motorsports won Friday evening's event in San Diego, earning their fourth victory of the 2026 Truck Series season. Riggs was able to pass Tyler Reif in the closing moments, as the No. 42 truck overdrove the chicane, resulting in a required stop-and-go penalty.
Reif was so close to earning his first career NASCAR win, but Riggs was able to pull through for the victory. The driver of the No. 34 truck has won three of the last four races as he continues to stretch his points lead. Now, Riggs will hope to carry his momentum to Lime Rock Park in a few weeks.

Tyler Reif was just one chicane away from an emotional victory in San Diego, but instead, the 19-year-old is left to wonder what could have been.
Making just his seventh career start with a previous best finish of ninth, Reif suddenly found himself battling for the win when Kaden Honeycutt and Chandler Smith collided in an overtime restart.
Reif fought off Daniel Hemric in a contact-filled battle, taking the white flag with smoke billowing from his No. 42 Chevrolet. If he held on for just one more lap, he would have been just the third driver ever to deliver Niece Motorsports a Truck Series win, with the other two being Cup stars Ross Chastain and Carson Hocevar.
But he had Layne Riggs all over him, and entering the final chicane on the last lap, Reif missed his entry and had to cut the corner, slamming doors with Riggs as the win slipped away Per NASCAR rules, you have to come to a complete stop after missing the chicane, so his shot the win was over the moment he failed to stay to the left of the tire bundle.
Reif was scored 19th, and the shouts of his family could be heard on the background of the broadcast as the difficult loss played out in real-time.
