It wasn't always sunshine for Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams since entering the NFL. Coming off an electric final collegiate season where Williams would tear his ACL in the National Championship game, his professional career in Detroit got off to a slower start than most anticipated. And if you are reading this, you are likely aware of the ****** ps in the road over the course of Williams' first few years in the league.
However, that all feels like a distant memory now. After consecutive 1,000-yard seasons in 2024 and 2025, Williams had himself one heck of a training camp. Nolan Bianchi of The Detroit News wrote a great story on Williams, his ability to spread joy, and how Lions coach Dan Campbell never stopped believing.
"He loves ball, and you can't hide that," said Campbell of his electric wide receiver. "I mean, that's not fake. You don't fake that. I mean, it's just unbridled enthusiasm."
When you watch Williams around the game, whether it's under the bright lights of Ford Field, or in front of a few thousand fans at the Meijer Performance Center in Allen Park, his joy for the game always is on display.
"He always wants the best for me," said Williams of his coach. "Even in my worst situations, he's been there for me, by my side, and never gave up on me." You can read the entire story from Bianchi right here.

Allen Park — Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs was not present on the first day of training camp practice in Allen Park on Wednesday.
It's not certain that the pursuit of a new contract is the reason that Gibbs was not at practice. However, Gibbs was not included in the list of injured players that coach Dan Campbell provided updates on Wednesday. Gibbs, the No. 12 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, became eligible to sign a contract extension in March of this year.
The Lions have expressed a desire to retain Gibbs. If they do, it will likely be at a number that will make Gibbs one of the highest-paid running backs in the NFL.

The Clash is expected to have a new home in 2027. According to The Athletic's Jordan Bianchi, the Clash is expected to return to Daytona International Speedway after a six-year hiatus. After a two-year run at Bowman Gray Stadium, NASCAR will go back to Daytona for its opening exhibition event.
According to Bianchi, the Clash at Daytona is expected to be held on Saturday, February 13, 2027, which is one day before the Super Bowl and a week before the Daytona 500. The NASCAR insider also says a new sponsor is expected to partner with the Clash next season.
NASCAR should run the Clash at Daytona, as there is no better fit for the opening weekend of the season. While Bowman Gray and Los Angeles put on good shows, Daytona is where the Clash belongs. The 2027 NASCAR season isn't here yet, but excitement is already in the air about the possibility.
