Warriors center Al Horford is entering his 20th NBA season this fall, and although he is far from his prime, the Dominican big man has put together quite the career.
In a recent list made by HoopsHype, Horford was listed as the 14th-best foreign-born player in NBA history. In 1,183 games to this point, Horford has career averages of 12.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.2 ******* ists, 1.1 blocks and 0.8 steals. He's made five All-Star appearances, one All-NBA selection and one All-Defensive Team. His best season was likely during the 2012-13 season, when the former Florida Gator averaged 17.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, 3.2 ******* ists, 1.1 steals and 1.1 blocks. While scoring was never Horford's strongest skill, the former Atlanta Hawk and Boston Celtic is known as a winning player and has a championship to show for it.
Not to mention, Horford's ability to add an effective 3-point shot to his game has increased his impact and longevity. Another current player, Rudy Gobert, ranked just ahead of Horford at No. 13, and Spanish-born center Marc Gasol came in just behind him at No. 15.

After four more seasons with the Boston Celtics, veteran center and former NBA champion Al Horford joined the Golden State Warriors for his 19th NBA season. Although the 39-year-old wasn't the most durable (45 appearances), he increased his steals and blocks per game totals despite averaging the fewest minutes of his career.
During the year, Horford averaged 8.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.6 ***** ists, 0.7 steals and 1.1 blocks. Horford's shooting numbers were quite similar from a season prior, shooting 42.6% from the field and 36.1% from 3-point range. Ahead of his 20th NBA season, Horford signed a new two-year deal with Golden State.

The Golden State Warriors missed out on LeBron James and immediately pivoted to filling their roster with familiar names in an attempt to run it back — but they hope they stay healthy this time.
The first order of business was bringing back the heart and soul of their team, four-time All-Star Draymond Green, for his 15th NBA season. Green inked a one-year, $27.7 million contract, a person with direct knowledge of the deal confirmed to USA TODAY Sports.
He averaged 8.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.5 ***** ists in 27.5 minutes over 68 games during the 2025-26 season. One of his most valuable ***** ets is his level of commitment on the defensive end, where he's compiled nine all-defensive selections and the 2016-17 Defensive Player of the Year award.
After finalizing Green's contract, the Warriors continued to focus on rounding out the roster with guys who know exactly what to bring to the table.
Golden State remains committed to continuity. The Warriors brought back veteran center Al Horford, who turned 40 in June, on a multi-year contract. The team announced Saturday, Aug. 1, it had signed both De'Anthony Melton and Gary Payton II, bringing both back for the 2026-27 season.

Golden State reserve center Quinten Post is quietly accruing interest from a few teams out there after receiving a qualifying offer from the Warriors. He's not nearly as essential to competing in the top-heavy West as Kristaps Porziņģis. Post, after all, is currently only slated to be Golden State's third big man behind Porziņģis and Al Horford. Yet he does have some big fans within the organization thanks to his play as a spot-starter over his first two seasons as a Warrior.

The Thunder isn't finished with LeBron James just yet.
After OKC swept LeBron and the Lakers in the second round of the playoffs, it was unclear if James had played his last game in the purple and gold. Unclear if he'd be returning to LA or retiring from the NBA altogether.
Tuesday brought clarity. James told the Lakers that he intends to play for a new team in what will be his 24th season, ESPN's Shams Charania reported . Charania said the Warriors , Cavaliers and Heat are among the favorites to land James.
Of those, James staying out West and signing with the Warriors is the path that would most affect the Thunder.
Our old friend Anthony Slater, reporting for ESPN , said the Warriors are pursuing James in free agency and Anthony Davis via trade to join forces with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green in Golden State. The Warriors have also re-signed Kristaps Porzingis and Al Horford . Trading for Davis, exiled in Washington, would almost certainly mean parting with Jimmy Butler to make the money work.

Florida returns all three members of its starting frontcourt for the 2026-27 college basketball season. While Thomas Haugh was already a projected first-rounder, Rueben Chinyelu and Alex Condon have a chance to join him if the season goes well enough.
The Athletic's Sam Vecenie has Haugh going at No. 7 in his first "way-too-early" mock draft. Chinyelu follows at No. 22, and Condon sits in the "other names to watch" category.
Todd Golden has already seen three of his players get selected in a single draft, but Florida hasn't produced three first-rounders since Corey Brewer, Al Horford and Joakim Noah did it in 2007. All three were top 10 picks, and Florida won its second national championship that season. Can history repeat itself?
The case for Haugh is clear. He was already a top-20 pick and second-team All-American as a junior. Haugh enters his senior campaign as an SEC Player of the Year candidate, and perhaps on the national scale as well. The motor is unmatched, and he can score from every level.
Haugh averaged six rebounds per game with Chinyelu and Condon on the court, and he showed some passing presence with two ****** ists per game. He also plays wing at 6-foot-9, which NBA teams want on their roster.

The Golden State Warriors have officially come to terms with free agent center Kristaps Porzingis on a new deal, according to NBA insider Shams Charania. The contract is worth $40 million over two seasons with a player option in the second year.
This is a great outcome for the Warriors, as Porzingis could have tested the free agent market in hopes of a larger contract. Last season, in 15 games following the Jonathan **** inga trade, Porzingis averaged 16.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.3 **** ists, 1.1 blocks and 0.6 steals. Now after drafting Yaxel Lendeborg and re-signing both Al Horford and Porzingis, Golden State has quickly taken care of their holes in the frontcourt. A new contract for Draymond Green is likely to be the team's next priority as the former Michigan State Spartan declined his $27.7 million player option Monday.

Al Horford might be 40, but he still has plenty left in the tank. The long-time veteran reportedly intends to sign a two-year, $14 million deal to stay with the Golden State Warriors, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Horford declined his player option with the team in order to sign a slightly longer extension.
With the move, Horford will become just the 13th player in NBA history to play at least 20 seasons in the league.
Despite his age, Horford remains an effective role player. In 45 games last season, Horford averaged 8.3 points and 4.9 rebounds in 21.5 minutes per contest.
