Aug 26 (Reuters) - A U.S. Air Force judge on Wednesday ordered Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the accused mastermind of the September 11, 2001, attacks on the United States, and three co-defendants to go on trial before a military tribunal in June 2028.
The trial-scheduling order entered by Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Michael Schrama marked the latest milestone in a military prosecution beset by two decades of legal deadlock surrounding the four detainees held in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
Last month, a U.S. appeals court refused to allow Mohammed and two of his co-defendants to plead guilty under agreements that would have spared them the death penalty.

Entertainment giant The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS)'s shares are down by 9% over the past year and by 3.6% year-to-date. One aspect of the firm that Cramer regularly discusses is its cruise ship business. For instance, in August 2025, the CNBC TV host predicted that The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) would make "a lot of money" with its cruise ship business. As the firm's new CEO previously ran its cruise business, naturally, Cramer had a lot to say about The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) on August 17th:
"I have been a big believer in Josh [D'Amaro]. First, congratulations to Chris Berman, ESPN legend. . .it's a good example of what, they have this ESPN and it's been, somehow been an albatross. I think that's ridiculous. They have all this great film they do these great things. Now Josh ran the cruise ships, if they could double the cruise ships then the numbers would go up big. James Gorman put them in a terrific situation in the interim. Do I want to own Disney? We owned it, it's very hard to own that stock because it's kept down by the cohort. The cohort is so miserable that you keep thinking, I don't want to get ahead of myself here because oh man, everybody else is doing terribly."

Additionally, and as Cramer loves to talk about, the firm's Experiences division, which covers the cruise business, is also performing well. Experiences revenue jumped by 10% to a record $9.97 billion. As a cherry on top, Toy Story 5 also crossed $1 billion at the global box office and allowed The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) to fire on multiple cylinders.
Yet, overall revenue in Q2 missed ******* yst estimates and as the firm does not provide a streaming revenue breakdown, it is difficult to determine whether the growth was a result of price increases or subscriber growth. Additionally, while the Experiences division remains a standout, its revenue is not secular and leads to concerns of causing a downturn for the entire business should The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) come to rely on it too much. Not to mention, Experiences is also a capital intensive business which ends up affecting cash flows and inflation and discounting cutting operating margins to below 24% could lead to weakness. To sum it up, while The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) is creating tailwinds from streaming and experiences, cyclicality for parks and continued troubles with linear offerings can create headwinds. Week 1 on the high school football season is close to being in the books.
A handful of Super 25 teams took the field Thursday, Aug. 20, and Friday, Aug. 21, and let's just say, there were plenty of fireworks from top to bottom.
This week's undisputed game of the week delivered as No. 2 St. John Bosco and No. 3 Bishop Gorman put on an instant classic. Bishop Gorman led by as many as 21 before St. John Bosco slammed its foot on the gas, eventually evening the game at 28-28 with just less than 10 minutes to play. However, the Gaels ultimately prevailed in a 38-28 win.
No. 1 IMG Academy (FL) looked every bit the part of being the top squad in the country, handling Lone Peak (UT) in a 59-3 blowout.
No. 13 Baylor School (TN) kicked things off on ESPN2, beating No. 18 Brentwood Academy (TN) by three scores by an impressive performance from Tennessee 5-star RB commit David Gabriel Georges.

As the eastern slate of Week 1 high school football games comes to a close, the west picks up with what may be one of the best matchups of the season: No. 2 St. John Bosco (Bellflower, CA) vs. No. 3 Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas).
Entering the season as two of the best three teams in the nation, the Braves and the Gaels will stake their claim on an early-season spot in the top-2 of the Super 25 national rankings.

The season kicked off in Nevada over the weekend, although the weather, specifically lightning storms, caused some delays and cancelations. Two of the state's top three teams suffered tough inter-sectional losses while top ranked Bishop Gorman looks ready for their ******* anic top five national matchup.
Another jam-packed slate is on deck as teams continue their quests for a state ******* le. Below are the top 25 Nevada high school football teams, according to the Massey Ratings, as of Aug. 18.
The Gaels beat Losee 41-0 in a game that was called at halftime due to weather. A lighting storm in the area delayed the game nearly two hours. Junior quarterback Ace Amina got the start and finished an efficient 4-4 for 70 yards and a touchdown and the defense was lights out led by fast rising sophomore edge Braylon Ivory. Next up for Gorman will be their highly anticipated matchup against national power Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco August 21 in a game pitting a pair of perennial top 10 powers.
Liberty lost a tough one to a very good Honolulu (Hawaii) Mililani team 31-24. The Patriots led at halftime 24-14 but couldn't get the offense rolling in the second half. BYU running back commit Ezra Sanelivi had an impressive 1st half including a 56 yard touchdown run and athlete Selby Griego had nearly 200 all-purpose yards and a touchdown. The Patriots have a couple of weeks off and then will have another tough test in Lehi (Utah) Skyridge, ranked No. 5 in the state, on September 4.
The Cougars kick off their season on Saturday (Aug. 22) against Carson.

The start of the high school football season has arrived. A handful of states like Georgia have started playing; while some states like Florida and Alabama wrapped up preseason exhibition play last week.
With more and more teams hitting the field later this week, USA TODAY Sports is releasing its Week 0 rankings — its final preseason look at the top teams entering the 2026 high school football season.
At the top remains IMG Academy (Bradenton, FL), which is coming off an undefeated season and has talent superior to the rest of the country. At Nos. 2 and 3 sit St. John Bosco (Bellflower, CA) and Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, NV), a pair of teams who will face each other this coming Friday in a battle of top-3 teams.

Bishop Gorman always enters high school football season as the team to beat in Nevada. The Gaels are also usually a perennial contender on the national stage. They want to reach the top of the mountain this fall — and they've concocted quite the out-of-state schedule early in the year.
The first big test is next Friday, Aug. 21, as St. John Bosco (Calif.) travels to Las Vegas to take on Gorman at Fertitta Field. Both teams are inside the top 10 of the national Rivals Composite Rankings. More than 25 ranked prospects will be in action for what, on paper, looks like one of the games of the entire HSFB season.

On June 11th, mired in a miserable 3-for-55 stretch that included a 49.1 K% and a wRC+ of -22 in a 17-game stretch that spanned from May 20th to the aforementioned June 11th, the date of demotion, for Cardinals' former 1st-round pick Nolan Gorman. The Cardinals subsequently called up Blaze Jordan to fill the primary 3rd base duties in Nolan Gorman's absence and has performed admirably in his place, but has surely left a lot to be desired, producing a .255/.279/.372 slash with only 1 HR, hit in his 2nd big league game, and has an OPS below .700 at.651.
The one area that Blaze has seemingly overperformed expectations has been on the defensive side, producing +4 OAA. Jordan doesn't strike out (13.6%), but he also doesn't walk (3.2%), and his chase rate is (34.7%), which is well below average, about 10% below which should be a significant point of emphasis in the offseason. Somehow Blaze Jordan has become Yohel Pozo with a little more positional versatility. Blaze Jordan has displayed a weak-side platoon-sized split, producing a 122 wRC+ against LHP while mustering a paltry 52 wRC+ against RHP.
Jose Fermin is another player who has filled in at 3rd base the last couple of months, producing a .240/.307/.359 overall this season as he has rotated between 2nd, 3rd, LF, and CF primarily. What Fermin lacks in impact, he makes up for in quality of his at-bats. Producing an above-average chase rate of only 21.9%, a whiff% of 13.9%, and a K rate of only 12.9%. Fermin's bat speed, HH%, and xSLG are all areas that Fermin is well below league average. Again, he has done an admirable job filling in, but he's not an immediate solution to the position and fits in quite well as a utility player off the bench.
Understanding that JJ Wetherholt is a stalwart at 2B and his impact and defense up the middle are far more valuable than him at a corner, you leave him there and allow him to grow into one of the best 2B in baseball. Bryan Torres doesn't have the arm strength or quality of contact to impact the baseball enough that is required from a primary 3b, and Cesar Prieto is more of a 2B defensively and has yet to record a hit in 26 PA in 2026, so it would be incredibly difficult to argue in favor of a long runway at that spot for him. Ramon Urias is on the mend and could be nearing a return to the big leagues. A weak-side platoon Gold Glove-caliber 3rd baseman is an excellent complementary piece but is not someone who will provide the necessary impact that could give this offense the needed boost it desperately is searching for. A lot of these options listed above are just depth at the position. So, that leaves an open-ended question: what about Nolan Gorman?

Philadelphia 76ers head coach Nick Nurse responds to Kevin Durant's take on the team.
The 2026-27 NBA season is yet to begin, but Houston Rockets star Kevin Durant has already hailed the Philadelphia 76ers as the team to beat.
Additionally, KD compared the current 76ers roster to the iconic 2016-17 Golden State Warriors team and asked the fans to treat them similarly. After all, the 2016-17 Warriors were considered unfair.

To celebrate the start, ESPN has announced the return of its ESPN High School Football Kickoff, a seven-game slate featuring elite matchups between some of the nation's top programs.
Eight of the participating teams are ranked in the USA TODAY Sports preseason Super 25 national high school football rankings, including No. 3 Bishop Gorman and No. 7 St. Thomas Aquinas.
The games will air on ESPN networks throughout the first two weeks of the high school football season.

New Kansas State basketball coach Casey Alexander has landed his first 2027 high school recruit, which comes via a family tie on his staff.
Four-star small forward Kameron Cooper announced his commitment to the Wildcats on Tuesday, July 7, via social media. He is the son of new K-State **** istant John Cooper.
The younger Cooper is listed at 6-foot-4, 175 pounds out of Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas). The 247Sports Composite lists him as the No. 108 overall player and No. 29 at his position.
Cooper picked the Wildcats over schools like TCU, Xavier, UNLV (where his dad previously served as an **** istant) and Wichita State.
Cooper is the first high school player to commit to Kansas State under Alexander, outside of the two 2026 players who committed to him at Belmont before following their coach to Manhattan.

According to Rivals' Hayes Fawcett, Alabama football recruiting target Hayden Stepp has reportedly committed to the Oregon Ducks.
Alabama had previously been announced as one of the finalists for Stepp's commitment, with the talented defensive back ultimately choosing Oregon on Wednesday over both Alabama and California.
Per the 247Sports Composite rankings, Stepp is currently ranked as the nation's No. 49 overall recruit in the 2027 class, as well as the No. 7 cornerback. A four-star prospect, Stepp is also the No. 1 player in the state of Nevada where he attends Bishop Gorman High School.
Following the decision from Stepp, Alabama's 2027 class ranks No. 47 nationally with 13 total commitments, per 247Sports. One of those is from a cornerback in Darrius White, a three-star prospect out of Creekside High School in Georgia.

Alabama had previously been announced as one of the finalists for Stepp's commitment, with the talented defensive back ultimately choosing Oregon on Wednesday over both Alabama and California.
Per the 247Sports Composite rankings, Stepp is currently ranked as the nation's No. 49 overall recruit in the 2027 class, as well as the No. 7 cornerback. A four-star prospect, Stepp is also the No. 1 player in the state of Nevada where he attends Bishop Gorman High School.
Following the decision from Stepp, Alabama's 2027 class ranks No. 47 nationally with 13 total commitments, per 247Sports. One of those is from a cornerback in Darrius White, a three-star prospect out of Creekside High School in Georgia.

Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman defensive back Hayden Stepp announced his commitment to Oregon moments ago on the Rivals Summer Signing Day Show.
Stepp is one of the nation's top corner prospects, checking in as the No. 44 player nationally in the Rivals Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services and the No. 7 corner in the country as well.
Stepp recently cut his list to a final three that also included Alabama and Cal but the Ducks were a longtime favorite in this race.
"I'm very excited to be a Duck," Stepp said. "I'm really comfortable at Oregon and I love the direction the program is going in.
"I like the young coaching staff a lot and have a very connection there. They're very determined and committed to winning a National Championship there and I'm excited to try and help make that happen."

Florida State has casted its net all the way out west to Las Vegas, Nevada, in search of talent. They have extended a scholarship offer to 2028 four-star wide receiver Zyren Menor out of Bishop Gorman High School.
"Honored and Blessed to have received an offer from Florida State University!!," Menor said on social media.
He has offers from all across the country, and it includes some premium programs. The USC Trojans, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Oregon Ducks, Arizona Wildcats, Arizona State Sun Devils, Miami Hurricanes, and Tennessee Volunteers have also put offers on the table for Meron.
The 6-foot, 180-pounder is the nation's No. 92 overall player and the No. 13 wide receiver per the 247Sports composite rankings. He's also the No. 1 recruit in the state of Nevada.
Meron played in 10 games as a sophomore, and although he didn't catch a lot of passes, him made them all count. He gained 577 yards on just 22 receptions (26.2 per catch) and scored 14 touchdowns.
