Fresh off the franchise's first World Series victory, the Milwaukee Brewers are reading to celebrate with all of Wisconsin. After beating the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 5 on Wednesday, Brewers returned to Milwaukee on Thursday, and made their first major stop at the Green Bay Packers' primetime matchup against the Carolina Panthers.
During a break after the first quarter of Thursday's game, several players emerged from the tunnel at Lambeau Field with the World Series trophy held high, earning a roar from the Packers crowd.
The Brewers' appearance at Lambeau was slightly spoiled by right fielder Sal Frelick, who joined ESPN's "Sportscenter" for an interview while on the bus to Green Bay. Frelick was candid about how the celebrations had been going since beating the Rays on Wednesday.
"It's been crazy. Not a lot of sleep, late night last night, early bus to the airport this morning. Just got back here to Milwaukee and now we're headed up north," Frelick said, panning to show his teammates, including the trophy-carting ace Jacob Misiorowski.
Once in Lambeau, some players — including Frelick — opted to do a Lambeau Leap into the crowd as part of the first-quarter break.

The Green Bay Packers are battling to earn a "Thursday Night Football" victory over the Carolina Panthers to open Week 8 of the 2026 NFL season.
The Packers' efforts to do so are being witnessed by a group of Milwaukee Brewers players, who are celebrating the franchise's first World Series win.
The Brewers' presence came just one day after the team wrapped up its World Series ******* le with a 4-1 Game 5 win over the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. They came onto the field after the first quarter with the Commissioner's Trophy in tow and were greeted by a chorus of cheers by the crowd at Lambeau Field.
Brandon Woodruff carried the trophy onto the field for the Brewers while players like Christian Yelich and Sal Frelick were also on-hand for the celebration. Frelick took his opportunity on the field to try a Lambeau Leap, and he was greeted warmly by the crowd.
Below is a look at the mid-game festivities:

NEW YORK (AP) — Brice Turang hit a three-run homer and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the New York Mets 8-1 on Wednesday night, overcoming an injury to starter Dustin May after one pitch.
May left in the first inning with a bruised right scapula when a 106 mph line drive off the bat of leadoff hitter A.J. Ewing ricocheted off his right shoulder blade. The right-hander was replaced by lefty Robert Gasser (4-5), who earned the win by tossing 5 1/3 innings of one-run ball.
May became the first major league starter to exit after one pitch since Pablo López with the Miami Marlins on July 2, 2021.
David Hamilton, Sal Frelick, Garrett Mitchell and Christian Yelich had RBI singles for the major league-leading Brewers (82-50), who clinched their sixth straight winning season and ninth in the last 10 years. Milwaukee finished over .500 just 15 times in the franchise's first 48 seasons.
The homer for Turang was his first since July 31. He is hitting just .188 with 10 RBIs this month.

Following a disappointing loss to the New York Mets on Tuesday night, the Brewers will look to bounce back on Wednesday evening, with right-hander Dustin May on the mound opposite Robert Stock for New York.
May has made three starts since joining the Brewers, with last Wednesday's outing against the Mariners representing his first real stumble. After allowing just three earned runs with 11 strikeouts over 13 innings in his first two starts, May was tagged for seven runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out one over just two innings in Milwaukee's 7-5 loss. For the season, he's 6-8 with a 4.57 ERA, 3.36 FIP, and 118 strikeouts across 124 innings.
Stock, 36, is a former second-round pick who spent time in the Brewers organization in 2023. He debuted with the Padres in 2018 and later had brief stints with the Red Sox, Cubs, and Mets through 2021 before pitching overseas. Stock returned to the majors with two appearances for Boston last season before rejoining the Mets this year. He has made four starts in 2026, posting a 5.40 ERA and 4.10 FIP with 19 strikeouts in 16 2/3 innings. Those numbers are skewed by one particularly rough outing, when he surrendered eight of his 10 earned runs in a 9-0 loss to the Pirates in early August. The Mets have won in both of his last two starts, as he's totaled 8 2/3 innings with two runs allowed (one earned) and 11 strikeouts against the Nationals and Padres.
Sal Frelick makes his return to the lineup after being activated from his IL stint yesterday, as he'll start in left field and bat leadoff. Garrett Mitchell follows, with Brice Turang, Christian Yelich, and William Contreras in the 3-4-5 spots. Luis Lara moves up to bat sixth, with Andrew Vaughn, David Hamilton, and Cooper Pratt rounding things out, meaning Joey Ortiz and Jackson Chourio will start this one on the bench.
First pitch is at 6:10 p.m. on Brewers TV and the Brewers Radio Network.

The Milwaukee Brewers are set to face the Mets in New York this week, as the Crew looks to continue their winning ways. The Brewers, at 81-50 this season, sit firmly atop the NL Central after winning each of their last three series against the Dodgers, Mariners, and Braves. The Mets, at 59-72, sit at the bottom of the NL East with the sixth-worst record in baseball. They've actually been a bit better the last couple of weeks, with a 6-3 record against the Nationals, Padres, and White Sox.
Milwaukee's lone position player on the IL is outfielder Sal Frelick, who is expected to return for this road trip. However, the team suffered a pair of injuries in Sunday's Little League Classic, as outfielder Garrett Mitchell exited after being hit by a pitch with what was categorized as a right forearm contusion, and first baseman Jake Bauers, who has been playing with a toe fracture this season, fouled a ball off his leg/foot, though he remained in the game. It's unclear if either player will miss more time, but overall, not the worst news on that front. On the mound, the Brewers are without Brandon Woodruff (potentially back before the end of the year after not needing surgery), JoJo Romero (late August), Abner Uribe (could be activated on Wednesday), Rob Zastryzny (TBD), Joel Kuhnel (late August), Brian Fitzpatrick (out for season), Quinn Priester (out for season), and Angel Zerpa (out for season).
The Mets are without first baseman Mark Vientos (on rehab ******* ignment), outfielder Juan Soto (September), and infielder Jorge Polanco (out for season). Old friend Devin Williams is on the injured list with a shoulder strain that will keep him out until at least September. Fellow pitchers Cionel Pérez (September), Justin Hagenman (TBD), Tylor Megill (out for season), and Reed Garrett (out for season) are also out.
Jake Bauers leads the Brewer offense with 23 homers, 19 doubles, and 75 RBIs this season, as he's slashing .273/.382/.503 in the best season of his career. Jackson Chourio, Brice Turang, William Contreras, Joey Ortiz, and Andrew Vaughn are among the other key contributors in recent weeks, while veteran Christian Yelich continues to suffer from the bad-luck bug. Gary Sánchez, Garrett Mitchell, David Hamilton, Cooper Pratt, and Luis Lara are also in the regular mix, with Jonathan Ornelas serving as some infield depth. As a team, the Brewers are hitting .254/.337/.396 (.733 OPS ranks seventh), with 120 homers (last), 650 runs scored (fifth), and 129 steals (third).
With Soto out, Carson Benge, Bo Bichette, Marcus Semien, Francisco Lindor, and Francisco Alvarez lead New York's offense. Benge has 16 homers, 17 doubles, 53 RBIs, and 19 steals in what has been a solid season overall, while Bichette, Semien, and Lindor are all have down years by their standards. Jared Young, A.J. Ewing, Luis Robert Jr., and Brett Baty are also in the regular mix, with Christopher Morel, Luis Torrens, Eric Wagaman, and Cristian Pache rounding things out. As a team, the M

The Milwaukee Brewers — fresh off a solid 5-2 homestand to push them to 74-44 on the season — are headed back to the West Coast after visiting the Giants and Angels last week. This time, they'll face two slightly more formidable opponents in the Padres and Dodgers. First up is San Diego, currently in a fight for an NL Wild Card spot alongside the Phillies and D-backs (among several others). At 62-57, the Padres have turned things on in recent weeks to put themselves firmly into the playoff race.
The Brewers have lost several position players in recent days, as shortstop Cooper Pratt hit the IL on Sunday with a hamstring strain and Joey Ortiz is considered day-to-day with neck tightness. The team also lost prospect Jett Williams, who, in his first at-bat back from injury, re-injured his hand while swinging. Outfielder Sal Frelick is also out, though he's on his way back as he began a rehab ***** ignment over the weekend. Pitchers Joel Kuhnel (on rehab), JoJo Romero (mid- to late August), Rob Zastryzny (TBD), Brandon Woodruff (out for season), Brian Fitzpatrick (out for season), Quinn Priester (out for season), and Angel Zerpa (out for season) are all on the IL.
San Diego's injured list currently includes pitchers Joe Musgrove (on rehab), Nick Pivetta (exited rehab outing last week), David Morgan (on rehab), Jason Adam (late August or early September), Lucas Giolito (late August), Bryan Hoeing (out for season), and Yu Darvish (considering retirement). Outfielders Ramón Laureano (likely out for season) and Samad Taylor (close to a rehab ***** ignment) are also out, as well as utility man Miguel Andujar (late August).
Jake Bauers leads Milwaukee with 21 homers, though Jackson Chourio's four-homer week has him closing in with 21 on the season. Brice Turang, William Contreras, Garrett Mitchell, Andrew Vaughn, Christian Yelich, Ortiz, Luis Lara, and David Hamilton round out the regulars, with Brandon Lockridge, Gary Sánchez, and new addition Jihwan Bae serving as depth. As a team, the Brewers are hitting .253/.337/.398 (.735 OPS ranks seventh), with 109 homers (last), 585 runs (fifth), and 117 steals (fourth).
Despite an ice-cold start offensively, the Padres have turned it around a bit offensively in recent weeks. Manny Machado, who's hitting just .212 for the year, leads the team with 23 homers, good for a .420 slugging percentage. He's followed by Jackson Merrill (18 homers), Ty France (16 homers), Gavin Sheets (15 homers), and Fernando Tatis Jr. (11 homers). Xander Bogaerts, Luis Campusano, Freddy Fermin, Jake Cronenworth, recent former Brewer Luis Rengifo round out the regulars, with Austin Hays, Jase Bowen, and Sung-Mun Song, providing depth. As a team, the Padres are hitting .236/.313/.382 (.695 OPS ranks 25th), with 124 homers (20th), 497 runs (22nd), and 119 steals (third).

If we had told you in 2022 that one of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers would be a member of the 2026 All-Star Game contingent participating this weekend in Philadelphia, we're pretty sure you would have guessed "Jackson Chourio." Maybe "Sal Frelick."
Instead, the all-star in question is Tristan Peters, a player the Brewers sent away in one of the more dubious trades in recent memory.
The native Canadian has enjoyed a breakout 2026 season with the Chicago White Sox, five years after the Brewers selected him out of Southern Illinois in the 2021 draft.
Peters, 26, has a .301 batting average, .832 OPS, six homers, five steals and 36 RBIs in 91 games. Baseball Reference lists him as a 3.0 wins-above-replacement player, which would rank him third on the 2026 Brewers behind Jacob Misiorowski and Brice Turang.
But the Brewers dealt Peters in 2022 for a pitcher who … never actually pitched for the Brewers.

Hunter Dobbins was entrusted with the starting duties of game 2 of the day/night doubleheader against the Milwaukee Brewers and did a great job of limiting their offense to minimal damage in the early innings. The St. Louis Cardinals offense did not make a significant appearance in the game and the 7th inning was a disaster – again.
The Brewers didn’t make a dent in Hunter Dobbins outing until Cooper Pratt tripled to lead off the top of the 3rd inning. He would score 2 batters later when Christian Yelich grounded out to Masyn Winn giving Milwaukee a 1-0 lead.
More trouble would arrive in the top of the 5th inning as walks would come back to haunt Hunter Dobbins. He walked Sanchez to start the Brewers 5th. After Frelick flied out, Dobbins then walked Pratt. Ortiz singled to right to load the bases. Hunter was able to strike out Christian Yelich, but one of Milwaukee’s top prospects who was just called up to the majors Luis Lara smacked his first major league hit into right field after a diving JJ Wetherholt scoring 2 and increasing the Brewers lead to 3-0. Hunter Dobbins would complete 5 innings allowing 4 hits, 3 earned runs while striking out 4 and walking 3.
Jared Shuster, who was just called up today from Memphis, entered the game in the top of the 6th inning with one runner on. He walked Jake Bauers, the first batter he faced, to give the Brewers runners on first and second with no outs, but struck out Sanchez. Shuster was also able to coax a flyout to center from Jackson Chourio for the second out. He got out of the inning when Cooper Pratt grounded into a force out to end the Milwaukee 6th.
The Cardinals bats were extremely quiet for the first 5 innings with the exception of Jordan Walker. He had one of the only St. Louis hits in the early innings and hammered an 86 mph changeup for another single with two outs in the bottom of the 6th inning. He would cross home plate shortly after thanks to a jolt that Nelson Velázquez put into a 93 mph four-seam fastball from Brewers pitcher Gasser as it sailed into the plants above the left field wall reducing the Milwaukee lead to 3-2.

The Milwaukee Brewers optioned Blake Perkins to Triple-A and called up their No. 4 prospect, outfielder Luis Lara, on Tuesday.
Lara is MLB Pipeline's No. 67 prospect and signed a seven-year, $31 million extension with the Brewers in June. The Brewers have made it a trend to lock up top prospects before they debut to help work around payroll constraints. Cooper Pratt signed an eight-year, $50 million contract before making his debut this year as well. The Brewers signed Jackson Chourio to an extension as well before he ever played in a big league game.
The Brewers currently have the top prospect in baseball, Jesus Made, and he will also likely sign an extension at some point, but for now, the focus is on Lara. The only problem is that there is no real spot for him right now.
Do you have a take to get off your chest? Do you want to engage in a growing Brewers community? Comment on our content alongside staff and fans alike!
Not playing regularly could hurt his development, but with Garrett Mitchell, Sal Frelick and Jackson Chourio all hitting well right now, it does not make sense to take any of them out of the lineup. Christian Yelich is the everyday designated hitter, and even though he's fighting it at the plate, the Brewers are not going to bench him. The Brewers could platoon him and Frelick.

The Milwaukee Brewers are set to begin a five-game series in St. Louis against the Cardinals this week, beginning with a Monday night showdown at Busch Stadium.
Left-handed rookie Shane Drohan is set to get the ball for the Brewers, with right-handed veteran Dustin May toeing the **** p for St. Louis. Drohan, 27, is 3-2 this season with a 3.12 ERA, 3.18 FIP, and 59 strikeouts over 57 2/3 innings in 17 appearances, including seven starts. He’s looked solid in his last three outings against the Guardians and Reds (x2), totaling 15 innings with three runs allowed on 14 hits and seven walks, striking out 15. Drohan has made two relief appearances against the Cards this year, totaling 3 1/3 innings with one run allowed on two hits and a walk while striking out two. This will be his first start against them.
May, 28, had a solid stretch that included a one-hit shutout of the Padres in early June, but he’s struggled in his two most recent outings. While he has a 4.80 ERA and 3.37 FIP with 78 strikeouts over 84 1/3 innings this year, he totaled just 2 2/3 innings against the Royals and Braves, allowing 11 runs on 11 hits and three walks, though St. Louis won both of those games in high-scoring affairs. May has made two career starts against the Brewers, totaling 8 2/3 innings with an 0-1 record, 2.08 ERA, and 12 strikeouts. He went seven no-hit innings against the Brewers back in May, but he ultimately took the loss when he gave up two runs (one earned) on two hits and a hit by pitch in the eighth inning before exiting.
Christian Yelich bats leadoff as the DH, followed by Jackson Chourio and Brice Turang. William Contreras bats cleanup, with Jake Bauers and Garrett Mitchell to follow. Sal Frelick, Cooper Pratt, and David Hamilton round out the order in what is a lefty-heavy lineup.
First pitch is set for 6:45 p.m. on Brewers TV and the Brewers Radio Network.

The Milwaukee Brewers are set for a big five-game, four-day series in St. Louis this week, as they’ll take on the Cardinals in an NL Central battle. After a rainout in early May, the two teams will have a makeup doubleheader on Tuesday, meaning we’ll get to see a rare five-game series.
Milwaukee currently sits atop the division at 55-33, as they’ve gone 6-4 in the first 10 games of their current 18-game, 17-day stretch that wraps up with the All-Star break. On the other side, the Cardinals sit in third place at 47-40, though they’re just 1.5 games back of the Cubs after taking two of three against them at Wrigley this weekend. They’re also currently sitting in the final NL Wild Card spot, tied with the Marlins (who technically are just behind them based on win percentage).
The biggest injury news for Milwaukee is the loss of right-hander Brandon Woodruff, who exited after another shoulder injury on Saturday in Arizona. He’s currently listed as TBD, but it’s not looking great for Milwaukee’s veteran leader. Fellow pitchers Joel Kuhnel (TBD), Logan Henderson (possibly this series), Brian Fitzpatrick (2027), Coleman Crow (July), Rob Zastryzny (July), Carlos Rodriguez (late July), DL Hall (late July), Quinn Priester (2027), and Angel Zerpa (2027) are also out, with outfielder Brandon Lockridge (late July) still the only position player on the IL.
The Cardinals have stood as one of the healthiest teams in baseball this season — their current IL is exactly one player long, with infielder Ramón Urías (the older brother of Luis) out since May with an elbow injury. Right-hander Dustin May is considered day-to-day with an ankle contusion, but he’s still expected to make his next start here against Milwaukee.
Jake Bauers leads the Brewer offense with 16 homers this season, driving in 54 and scoring 51 runs as he’s slashing .266/.363/.498. Jackson Chourio ranks second on the team with 13 homers, followed by Brice Turang at 12. William Contreras, Garrett Mitchell, Christian Yelich, Sal Frelick, Gary Sánchez, Andrew Vaughn, and David Hamilton also fit in as regulars, with Joey Ortiz and Cooper Pratt mostly splitting time at shortstop and Blake Perkins serving as a baserunning/defensive sub. As a team, the Brewers are hitting .255/.337/.398 (.735 OPS ranks 11th), with 83 homers (28th), 449 runs (fifth), and 84 steals (tied for sixth).

PHOENIX – Pat Murphy is an equal-opportunity smack-talker, but ******* ody on the Milwaukee Brewers catches more strays from the manager than Sal Frelick.
The list of go-to ribs from Murphy is so extensive he may use one of his notebook pages full of chicken-scratch notes just to keep track of them all.
There’s the one about how Frelick should go back to college as a fallback for when baseball doesn’t work out. The one about how he has the ugliest swings and embellishes when he fouls one off his foot. And, of course, the one about he can’t stop making unnecessary dives for ******* . That one might be Murphy's favorite.
So when Frelick made the catch for the final out July 5 in a 3-2 victory against the Arizona Diamondbacks, took and leaped into the wall in foul territory, you knew what was coming next.
“Sal, always trying to make SportsCenter,” Murphy said.

The Brewers have only scored four runs in the first two games of their three-game series in Cincinnati, yet they’ve managed to win both games: a 2-1 extra-innings victory on Monday and a 2-0 shutout on Tuesday. Brandon Woodruff and Brandon Sproat both turned in outstanding, nearly identical pitching performances against a struggling Reds offense; Shane Drohan’s name isn’t Brandon, but Drohan I guess sounds a little bit like Brandon, so we’ll see if he can keep the good vibes going.
Drohan is expected to be returned to relief duty, or at least swingman duty, after tonight’s start. He’s been an important part of the Brewers’ success this season, and has thrown important innings both out of the bullpen (where he has been excellent) and out of the rotation. Overall, Drohan is 3-2 with a 3.40 ERA and 3.17 FIP in five starts and ten relief appearances that have covered 47 2/3 innings. This will be Drohan’s fifth straight appearance as a starter.
The Reds will send the young right-hander Rhett Lowder to the mound. Lowder debuted in 2024 but is still just 24 years old, and he’ll be making his 12th appearance (all starts) of the season. Injuries kept him out of the 2025 season, but he was outstanding in six starts to finish 2024. This season hasn’t gone quite as well: in 52 1/3 innings, Lowder has a 4.82 ERA and 4.46 FIP. His struggles are apparent in his strikeout and walk numbers: he’s struck out just 42 batters this season (7.2 per nine) which has been exacerbated by sky-high walks numbers (4.8 per nine innings).
A roster note today: Abner Uribe, who has been “appealing” his suspension since the end of May, dropped that appeal today. Strategically timed, as Uribe pitched in each of the first two games of the series and surely would’ve been out tonight no matter what. It will be interesting to see what the Brewers do if this is another close game: with Uribe unavailable and both Aaron Ashby and Trevor Megill having pitched in each of the first two games of the series, things might get interesting.
The Brewers, then, will just go for a blowout to clinch the sweep. It’s a lefty-heavy lineup with Lowder on the mound, as the only right-handed bats in the lineup are Jackson Chourio, William Contreras, and Cooper Pratt. Garrett Mitchell and Sal Frelick join Chourio in the outfield, while David Hamilton plays third, Jake Bauers is at first, and Brice Turang plays second.

After a pair of heartbreaking one-run losses on Friday and Saturday in Atlanta, the Brewers punched right back today, winning 9-4 behind a strong showing from Robert Gasser and a big eight-run second inning.
Bryce Elder set the Brewers down in order in the first before Mauricio Dubón hit a ground-rule double to begin the bottom of the inning against Gasser. Dubón moved over on a groundout, and yesterday's hero Ozzie Albies brought him in to score with a sac fly.
Staked to a 1-0 lead, the second inning didn't go nearly as smoothly for Elder as the first. William Contreras and Jake Bauers started the inning with a pair of singles, and Garrett Mitchell moved them both into scoring position with a groundout. Sal Frelick followed with a double into the left field corner, putting Milwaukee up 2-1. After Cooper Pratt grounded out for the second out, the Brewers rattled off a big two-out rally that went as follows:

ATLANTA (AP) — William Contreras had four hits, including a three-run homer in Milwaukee's eight-run second inning, and the Brewers beat the Atlanta Braves 9-4 on Sunday to snap a three-game skid.
Sal Frelick added a two-run double off Bryce Elder (5-5) as the Brewers matched their season high for most runs in an inning. They also scored eight runs in the sixth inning of a 13-2 win over Arizona on April 28.
After blowing a ninth-inning lead in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Braves, Milwaukee salvaged one win in the three-game series between NL division leaders.
Brewers left-hander Robert Gasser (1-3) earned his first win since May 15, 2024, against Arizona. Gasser allowed two runs and four hits and one walk. His seven strikeouts and six innings matched career highs.
Atlanta's Rowdy Tellez hit a two-run homer off Chad Patrick in the ninth. Mauricio Dubón had three hits for the Braves.

The Milwaukee Brewers had the lead right from the jump and never gave it up as they cruised to a 9-4 win over the Cleveland Guardians and have a chance to sweep tomorrow.
Christian Yelich led this game off with an opposite field home run off Gavin Williams, taking a curve ball down and away to the Brewers bullpen for a 1-0 lead. They weren’t done in that first inning, however. William Contreras and Jake Bauers drew two out walks and Sal Frelick drove them both home with a booming double to right-center.
Then in the 2nd, Cooper Pratt delivered the first hit of his major league career, shooting a single through the right side of the infield.
“I heard the crowd and it was sick” Pratt said postgame as he retold the story of his first career hit.
David Hamilton would bunt Pratt over, then Yelich would drive him in with a single to left center. Yelich would later score on a Brice Turang double and very quickly it was 5-0 Brewers after two innings.

The Milwaukee Brewers have, for the second time this season, signed one of their most promising prospects to a long-term extension. This time, it’s outfielder Luis Lara (ranked as a top-100 prospect by MLB Pipeline), who has enjoyed a significant offensive breakout with Triple-A Nashville this season. According to Jeff Passan, Lara has signed a seven-year deal worth $31 million that includes three option years that could bring the total to 10 years and $79 million. Lara’s deal follows an eight-year, $50 million agreement (plus two option years) signed by his Nashville teammate, shortstop Cooper Pratt, in early April.
Lara, who doesn’t turn 22 until November, was signed for $1.1 million as part of Milwaukee’s international free agent class in 2022. The fleet-footed Lara has always been a good outfielder, and was viewed as a somewhat high-floor prospect because of that. As a hitter, though, there have always been questions. Lara has never been a bad hitter, as he’s had a wRC+ between 94 and 116 at each of his six minor-league stops prior to this season.
But in 2026, Lara has exploded, particularly in the power department. After never having posted a slugging percentage higher than .385 at any level, Lara—against the most advanced pitching he’s ever face—is slugging .500 so far this season. He’d hit a total of 12 professional home runs in four years that covered over 1,700 plate appearances; this year he’s already got seven in 247. On the season, Lara is hitting .338/.447/.500 for a 155 wRC+, and it’s not that small a sample.
Given Lara’s hot start to the season and the struggles particularly of Sal Frelick and Blake Perkins, there have been calls from every corner of the internet for Lara to get the call. Even with the financial concerns now off the table, I still don’t see that happening anytime soon. As Pat Murphy noted earlier this season, they don’t want their big prospects to be riding the pine in the majors. That means that consistent playing time would likely require a demotion of sorts for Frelick. Frelick has struggled this season, just last season he was a three-WAR player. Lara is also a switch-hitter, so a platoon situation doesn’t make as much sense for him as it might for some others.
In either case, Lara’s future in the Brewer organization is now secured. Along with Pratt, Milwaukee now has an infielder and an outfielder primed and ready with Triple-A Nashville in case of injury or a change in organizational direction in the major leagues.

After a quick four-game series split against the Giants in Milwaukee, the Brewers are headed out west for a three-game set in Denver against the Colorado Rockies. The Crew sits at 37-23 on the season, five games ahead of the Cardinals and Pirates atop the NL Central as of this writing. On the other side, the Rockies are coming off back-to-back series wins over the Giants and Angels, moving them to 24-39 on the season, still in last place in the NL West.
While several key players have returned for the Brewers in recent weeks, they had a string of injuries in Thursday’s series finale against the Giants, as both DL Hall and Grant Anderson exited. Hall has already been ruled out for the road trip, as he’ll remain in Milwaukee to undergo an MRI scan as he deals with left subscapular/pectoral discomfort. Anderson, who took a liner off his right arm, is reportedly day-to-day with a contusion after X-rays were negative. Lefty Rob Zastryzny, who returned from the IL last weekend, went right back on the shelf with a trap strain, and he’s out until at least late June. Right-hander Brandon Woodruff is close to returning, as is outfielder Brandon Lockridge, who is on the verge of a rehab **** ignment. Right-hander Quinn Priester is now rehabbing with the ACL Brewers as he continues to deal with the effects of thoracic outlet syndrome. Right-hander Logan Henderson and left-hander Jared Koenig are also expected to return in the coming weeks.
For Colorado, they also have a few day-to-day injuries, as TJ Rumfield is dealing with a nagging shoulder issue, and Tyler Freeman is dealing with shin soreness. MILWAUKEE (AP) — Logan Webb of the San Francisco Giants hasn’t allowed a hit through six innings against the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday night.
The Giants led 1-0 on Victor Bericoto’s first career homer, which led off the fifth inning.
Webb has thrown 85 pitches and has struck out four batters while walking one. His highest pitch total of the season was 104, in a 9-3 victory over the San Diego Padres on March 31.
Webb didn't allow a baserunner until Sal Frelick led off the sixth by walking on a 3-2 pitch that missed high. Frelick advanced to third on a pair of groundouts before Christian Yelich hit a grounder to first to end the inning.
Brice Turang produced the greatest threat to Webb’s no-hit bid when he grounded to third to close the fourth. Matt Chapman went a few steps to his right to backhand the ball before throwing to first.
