Kerry Kennedy chronicles the awe-inspiring life of her mother, Ethel Kennedy, in her new book, Ethel Kennedy: The Extraordinary Life and Bold Legacy
While Ethel saw her fair share of tragedy — including the ***** assination of her husband, Robert F. Kennedy, and the deaths of two of her 11 children — she never wavered
"She had a lot to live for," Kerry tells PEOPLE of her mother, who died at age 96 in 2024
No matter what the hit Hulu show Love Story says, Ethel Kennedy would never deny anyone a meal. Her daughter Kerry, 67, scoffs at the very idea that she'd have a breakfast "sign-up" sheet, as depicted in the series about John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette's relationship. "She's all about, 'Come in. Let me get you some food,' " Kerry says of Ethel's perennial mothering. " 'You've already eaten? Let me get you some cake. You've already had cake? Here's some chocolate.' "
The mother of 11 was three months pregnant with her youngest, Rory, when her husband, Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, was shot on June 5, 1968, and died the next day, just five years after his brother President John F. Kennedy's ***** assination. In the aftermath of twin tragedies, she became the one who carried the torch, and her family.

Bestselling British author and scandal-plagued Conservative politician Jeffrey Archer has died aged 86.
Archer died "suddenly and peacefully" at his home yesterday, a day before the global release of his final novel, "Adam and Eve," publisher HarperCollins said.
The new book out today, like his bestselling novel "Kane and Abel," follows a pair of biblically named characters born on the same day to different social classes. "Kane and Abel", released in 1979, remains one of the best-selling novels in the world, with an estimated 34 million copies sold globally.
Kate Elton, HarperCollins UK CEO and Archer's editor, said: "It has been one of the great privileges of my publishing life to have been Jeffrey Archer's editor. He was the master storyteller and an editor's dream - phenomenally hard-working, utterly committed to completing draft after draft to get every word as perfect as possible, and a true champion of the 'team' nature of great publishing."
Archer sold more than 300 million books in his five-decade writing career, including "Not A Penny More, Not A Penny Less", the William Warwick series, and the Clifton Chronicles, which started with 2011's "Only Time Will Tell" and spanned seven novels up until 2016's "This Was A Man".

One of the most talked about literary releases of the week, nay the year, is "Life of M", the new novel by critically acclaimed and award-winning British author Rachel Cusk.
Known for her novels "The Lucky Ones", the Outline Trilogy ("Outline", "Transit" and "Kudos"), "Second Place", as well as the Goldsmiths Prize-winning book "Parade", Cusk's name isn't one you'd expect to be ******* ociated with headline-grabbing controversy or gossip.
Still, here we are and all anyone can talk about is the buzz around "Life of M" - specifically: Is the ******* ular M a fictionalised version of Natalie Portman?
The novel, billed by its publisher, Farrar, Straus and Giroux, as a "blazing interrogation of fame, power, beauty and truth", has got literary sleuths wondering whether it's a not-so-thinly-veiled and unflattering portrait of the Oscar-winning actress.
"Life of M" follows an unnamed writer who wishes to use a famous actress, M, as a source of inspiration for her next literary project. The writer chronicles the A-lister's life and portrays "one of the most recognisable faces of our time" as a dispassionate and self-righteous person who puts on a relatable facade to mask the poseur within.

Apologies for the late Minor League Baseball roundup, but the Mike Krukow news set me back a bit today, both emotionally and in terms of labor. So let's speed run Wednesday's games from the San Francisco Giants affiliates … it was a great day for players whose name starts with a J!

Four pieces of news, all good: LHP Esmerlin Vinicio has been promoted from High-A Eugene to AA Richmond. And Richmond RHP RJ Dabovich, who has had awful injury luck, has been given a rehab ******* ignment with Low-A San Jose.
And finally, AAA Sacramento outfielder Turner Hill was named Player of the Month in the Pacific Coast League, while outfielder Franco Willias earned those honors in the Dominican Summer League.

Apologies for not having a weekend Minor League Baseball roundup. With the San Francisco Giants being so active at the deadline, I just wasn't able to find the time to cover the weekend's games.
But I'm here to talk about what went down on Tuesday! Just five games for the Giants affiliates, as AA Richmond had their game postponed. They'll play a doubleheader tomorrow.

The big news on the farm, of course, is the infusion of talent that the Giants got at the trade deadline, which featured 6 prospects, plus 2 young rostered players. You can catch up on all the moves here. If you want to know where the new guys rank, well … ask 10 people and you'll get 10 different answers. But MLB Pipeline has already adjusted their Giants top 30 to include the new prospects, and 5 of the 6 made the cut (it's worth noting that the Pipeline top 30 doesn't yet have the 2026 draftees).

Jeff Pearlman has spent much of the last several years positioning himself as one of sports media's loudest critics, frequently calling out journalists, broadcasters and media personalities over their work and ethics.
Now, the longtime sportswriter and bestselling author finds himself on the other side of that conversation.
Pearlman, a Southern California resident who has taught journalism as an adjunct professor at Chapman University for the past decade, publicly apologized after YouTube creator Velodus accused him of plagiarizing large portions of a 2021 video about former New York Yankees prospect Ruben Rivera. Awful Announcing was the first to detail the scandal.
Velodus published a detailed follow-up video identifying what he said were 23 instances in which Pearlman's video mirrored his original work, including newspaper clippings, archival footage, photographs and editing choices. According to Velodus, several graphics even retained alterations unique to his original edit.
Pearlman's version appeared on his Press Box Chronicles YouTube channel, which has a significantly larger audience than Velodus' channel, and included a sponsored advertisement. After the allegations gained traction, Pearlman made the Rivera video private, deleted his Bluesky account (he had already previously deleted his X/Twitter account) and later released a TikTok video addressing the controversy.

RHP Tyler Mahle began his rehab ****** ignment on Tuesday, a few days later than planned (Mahle was supposed to begin his rehab on Sunday, but that game was rained out, and Monday was an off-day). Rehab ****** ignments are all about ramping up and feeling healthy, so we’ll try to overlook the fact that Mahle was not very sharp. He only threw 33 of 63 pitches for strikes, while walking 5 batters in just 3 innings. He wasn’t particularly hittable, admittedly, as he only gave up 1 hit and 1 run, with 3 strikeouts, but still not the most encouraging outing. With RHP Trevor McDonald (No. 12 CPL) struggling, and Mahle being a player who could be moved at the deadline, it seems likely that he’ll be back in the MLB rotation soon.

For years, Hayden Panettiere's story was told through tabloids, blind items, paparazzi photos and internet speculation — often before she had the chance to tell it herself. Now 36, the Nashville and Heroes alum is reclaiming the narrative in her new memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning.
Released Tuesday, the book chronicles Panettiere's experiences with exploitation, addiction, postpartum depression and domestic abuse. But the conversation around the book began weeks earlier, as stories from it started landing on celebrity websites and clips from interviews — including a widely shared appearance on Jay Shetty's podcast — took over TikTok.
The memoir didn't just reopen painful chapters. It brought old conflicts back to the surface.
Her estranged mother, Lesley Vogel, issued a scathing rebuttal. Ex-boyfriend Brian Hickerson responded publicly. Internet speculation exploded around unnamed figures in some of the book's more disturbing stories.
"There will always be somebody who has a problem with something or an opinion about something," she tells Yahoo of the reactions.
