The Samoyed of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift made a hit with folks when i posted along with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end for Tommy Hilfiger's Fall 2026 campaign.
It takes a great deal to steal the show from the football great and his pop singer artist, but this dog managed to do just that. "Are you kidding me?" Kelce told Vogue. "She lights up my day."
Hilfiger was looking for a dog to take part in the shoot and Kelce offered the Samoyed.
"We figured, why not her? She crushed it, and actually really fit into that Tommy aesthetic, too," Kelce told Vogue. "Those are some of my favorite shots."

There are frustrating losses, and then there is whatever the White Sox subjected us to on Wednesday night.
Chicago wasted nearly every opportunity it received, went 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position and handed Houston the only two runs it needed in a maddening 2-0 defeat. The lone silver lining came elsewhere, as Cleveland also lost, leaving the White Sox with a three-game lead in the AL Central.
Davis Martin was considerably sharper in his return from the injured list. Making his first start since Aug. 13 after dealing with a blister on his pitching hand, the righthander breezed through a perfect first inning. He needed only nine pitches and received some help from Colson Montgomery, who made an outstanding play at shortstop for the third out.
The White Sox received their first gift in the second when Andrew Benintendi reached on a missed-catch error by LaMonte Wade Jr. Braden Montgomery followed with a 106.8 mph liner, but it was hit directly at Jose Altuve for the first out. Hayden Wesneski then plunked Colson to put two aboard, only for Chase Meidroth to ground into a strange inning-ending double play. It seems like Jose Altuve is always in the middle of these things.
Martin surrendered a one-out single to Daulton Varsho in the bottom half, and Varsho promptly swiped second. There was no reason to panic, however, as Martin struck out the next two batters on six pitches. His four-seamer was especially effective early.

They are three of the rare breed to have managed 250 games with a single Premier League club, and Mikel Arteta is now the 10th member of that elite group.
Monday's 1-0 win over Aston Villa was the 250th top-flight game in charge for Arteta with the Gunners, and his champions delivered a trademark performance.
At full-time at Villa Park, the travelling supporters sang about how they are going to win the league again with Arteta in charge.
With ******* nal coming into this season as trophy holders, and with transition affecting rivals Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United, it is hard to see how the fans' partisan prediction is going to be proved wrong.

Last week, Mainland volleyball player Seyahna Sampson captured the honors, claiming 42% of the votes. The sophomore produced 25 kills, 27 digs and seven blocks against Seabreeze, Matanzas and Deltona.
The Daytona Beach News-Journal gathers nominees for upcoming polls from across the area via email at cvinelusatodayco.com. Please send a player's name, school and notable statistics for a given week. Submissions are due no later than 8 a.m. every Monday.

Raphinha and Lamine Yamal both scored twice as Barcelona breezed back to the top of LaLiga with a 5-2 win over Rayo Vallecano at the Nou Camp.
Winless Rayo gave the hosts a mighty scare when Sergio Camello fired them in front after 12 minutes but Raphinha soon levelled and Yamal put Barca in front with 21 minutes on the clock.
Florian Lejeune's own goal extended the home side's lead early in the second half, and after Camello scored his second, further goals from Raphinha and Yamal preserved their 100% start to the campaign.
Rayo arrived at the Nou Camp without a win in their first two games but they took the game to their illustrious opponents and Camello silenced the home fans when he fired in his early opener after a neat pull-back by Alvaro Garcia.

Gulf Breeze volleyball continues to impress in its 8-1 start, topping one of Alabama's best teams in Gulf Shores on Aug. 26 and one of the panhandle's best in South Walton on Aug. 27.
Tate and Pensacola Catholic volleyball are also off to undefeated starts, and the Aggies will host Gulf Breeze on Sept. 3 at 6:30 p.m.

More than half the area's cross country teams competed at the Pine Forest Eagle Invitational, with Pensacola Christian leading the area with a third place finish.
That means plenty of nominees for this week's Florida Power & Light PNJ Boys Athlete of the Week. Jay football's Jaymes Youngblood brought home the first award for 2026-27, winning 74.7 percent of the vote.

Casual dining restaurants have to walk a tightrope when it comes to offering strong value and a good customer experience. Chili's has succeeded in finding the right mix of price, value, and experience that keeps the chain affordable while differentiating it from fast-food and fast-casual chains.
"Chili's was the unquestionable same-store sales champ in 2025, though this has set the brand up for some difficult comps periods," Restaurant Dive reported. "…In its most recent quarter, that success was driven primarily by traffic growth, a remarkable feat at a time when many brands faced stagnant or reversing traffic."
Other chains, including Red Lobster, Ruby Tuesday, and Applebee's, have shrunk. On The Border filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy, and only a handful of franchised locations remain, while Bahama Breeze was shut down by Darden, its parent company.
Buffalo Wild Wings, another casual dining chain going after that same audience, has also been closing restaurants. It's selective, and the chain has opened some new locations as well, but that's cold comfort to people who watch their nearby location shut down.

After nearly reaching the Super Bowl last season, the Denver Broncos are considered by many to be one of the top contenders to get to the big game this coming season.
That won't come easily. The Broncos will play a first-place schedule this year and last year's fortune of winning so many one-score games is bound to go the other way at some point. While 14 wins may be a tough hill to climb this year, the Broncos are a battle-tested squad that can beat any team in the league in a playoff setting.
But when will their first loss in 2026 come?
John Breech of CBS Sports recently took a look at the schedule and predicted when each team would suffer its first loss of the season. Broncos Country won't like this, but Breech predicts that to happen right out of the gate for Denver. He has the Broncos losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1 on Monday Night Football.
"With Patrick Mahomes coming back from a torn ACL, there is a small chance that he won't be back yet for this game, but if he's on the field, it's hard to pick against a Chiefs team that will be opening the season at home in primetime," wrote Breech for CBS.

Was Jonathan Haidt right all along? Readers of this newsletter—and writers at Reason—are surely divided on this one. On Wednesday of this week, news broke that Meta had reached a humongous $17.1 billion settlement with 47 states and the District of Columbia, forced to pay damages due to child-endangerment claims stemming from its social media algorithms and platforms.
"The owner of Facebook and Instagram agreed to the financial penalties for violating federal child privacy and states' consumer protection laws, the states announced," reports The New York Times. "Meta also agreed to limit how long teenagers can spend on its platforms and to bans on features that stoke mental health issues, striking at the heart of the company's business of engagement for advertising."
"The settlement effectively ends a bellwether federal trial in the U.S. Northern District of California in Oakland, where California, Colorado, Kentucky and New Jersey were seeking roughly $200 billion over accusations that Meta harmed children," adds the Times. A 3-year-old trained by Cherie DeVaux died Friday after suffering a "cardiac event" while warming up to breeze at Saratoga Race Course.
According to the state Gaming Commission's Equine Death and Breakdown database, Stirring Words was warming up for a workout Friday when the colt "staggered" and "collapsed on the track surface." According to the database, Stirring Words "suffered a cardiac event (and) expired."
A 3-year-old colt trained by DeVaux and owned by Lael Stables, Stirring Words made three lifetime starts, most recently finishing eighth in a maiden special weight race on July 18 in Saratoga. That was Stirring Words' first start in nearly eight months.

Unrivaled announced several high-profile returnees to the 3x3 women's basketball league Thursday afternoon, including a "multi-year deal" with former UConn women's basketball star Paige Bueckers.

Aug. 28 (UPI) -- Note: It was 58 years ago (Aug. 27, 1968) that I first reported for work at United Press International in Chicago, five floors above the Billy Goat Tavern. I've been writing for the company continuously ever since. Sunday will be the 45th anniversary of the first horse race I covered for UPI -- the inaugural Arlington Million.
It's a good thing it's a quiet week on the international front because the North American horse racing schedule is jam packed with goodies. There are five Breeders' Cup "Win and You're In" races and three others that offer purses of $1 million or more.
One of those seven-figure purses is the $1.25 million Grade I Travers at Saratoga, the "Midsummer Derby" with Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes winner Golden Tempo seeking a virtual lock on year-end honors.
Another is the $1.75 million Grade I Ladies Turf Sprint at Kentucky Downs, where the advertised purses are for Kentucky-breds. Others run for reduced amounts. The third is Friday's $1 million Grade II Charles Town Classic in West Virginia.
The Travers is one of the few remaining chances for 3-year-olds to run against their peers before trying their luck with older horses.

Jonathan Bensamoun's startup Fi is a rare breed in the VC landscape.
The smart pet collar startup is approaching $100 million in annual recurring revenue and, despite not raising capital for the past five years, doesn't plan to do so anytime soon.
"If you can do it without, why wouldn't you?" Bensamoun said of just fundraising for the sake of it. The issue is not whether he can, but the cost that capital comes at.
"I think it's a trap, I think you de-rich yourself and your investors … when you fundraise," said Bensamoun, whose company previously raised nearly $40 million across three rounds, according to PitchBook data. "And you bring someone with a lot of influence on the business, so there is a risk factor there."
Bensamoun points to the buzzy startup Juicero, a $700 Wi-Fi-connected juice press that raised $120 million. The company imploded just 16 months after launching when it was discovered that users didn't need the expensive machine to squeeze the juice.

Chris Sale is a consummate ace. It seems unlikely that anyone would contest this at this point, but if they ever do… just point 'em at this game. In a marquee pitching matchup that featured Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the other side, it was Sale and the Braves that prevailed, as the grizzled southpaw gave Atlanta its first complete game shutout since Max Fried's performance in a 5-0 win over the Marlins in April 2024.
This one, though, was a lot tighter. In fact, there was only one run scored in this game… and it came on the first pitch Yamamoto delivered to a Braves batter. That pitch was a hanging splitter, and Drake Baldwin was either expecting a get-me-over or just did an excellent job if he wasn't, launching an absolute no-doubter Chop House-ward for a solo shot. No one else crossed the plate in this game, or even got close to crossing the plate.
That said, this game was about Chris Sale. It was kind of the Chris Sale Game, except that really, he gives you a superlative performance so often that many games are the Chris Sale Game. Against an offense that ranks first or second in pretty much everything, he showed up, showed out, and dominated. He was actually pretty close to a Maddux (shutout on fewer than 100 pitches) until some drama late.
He breezed through the first on nine pitches, with a strikeout, two first-pitch groundouts, and a soft single by Mookie Betts. He struck out two more in the second, working around an overcooked slider that grazed Alex Call on the toe with two outs. He struck out the side on 12 pitches in the third: two three-pitch strikeouts sandwiching a longer plate appearance by Shohei Ohtani. In the fourth, Betts led off with a no-man's land bloop that went for a double (and nearly got Betts thrown out as he took a big turn around second and had to scramble back to the bag). Not to worry, Sale threw just seven more pitches to end the inning, with a couple of easy flyouts chased down by his defense around a strikeout.
Two more quick outs started the fifth, before catcher Ben Rortvedt knocked a liner to left for a single. That brought up Shohei Ohtani, and Sale delivered his outing in microcosm against one of the game's best: he got ahead with a get-me-over fastball, then painted two perfect fastballs on the outer edge. Neither was called a strike, neither was challenged by Baldwin behind the dish. So, Sale got Ohtani to graze a slider, and then obliterated him with 100 mph about chin-high. Then he went back to business as usual in the sixth: another three-pitch strikeout, two other quick field outs.

Mike Breen's dream New York summer isn't over yet. Breen was on the call when his beloved New York Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs in the 2026 NBA Finals, winning their first championship in 53 years. He also emceed the Knicks' championship ceremony.
Breen continued healing his inner child when he crashed SNY's broadcast of the New York Mets' loss to the Milwaukee Brewers at Citi Field on Wednesday night.

With the 2026 high school football season starting this week - my 43rd consecutive covering the Bay Area and 26th for the Chronicle - here are 10 storylines to follow.
After going 284-0-1 against North Coast Section opponents over the past 35 years - and 33 straight section crowns - the obvious question is, can anyone possibly beat the Spartans? It's truly an age-old quandary with a profound and direct response: no. However, the team to last beat them, the Pirates of Pittsburg (35-27 in the 1991 NCS 3-A finals), has most certainly gained ground, losing by single scores the last three meetings (30-23, 10-7 and 24-17).
With former longtime defensive coordinator Charlie Ramirez in his fourth season as head coach, a Division I college prospect quarterback in junior JaVale Jones and a boatload of future college players led by speedy junior receiver Kenneth Ward, edge rusher Terrance Murphy (Fresno State) and two-way playmaker Isaiah Harrison, the Pirates appear equipped to pull off the seemingly impossible. More importantly, playing the Spartans to the final horn in the playoffs recently, there is an internal belief they can slay the dragon.
That said, the 2026 Spartans are as stacked as ever, minus one question mark at quarterback.
With an influx of transfers, playmakers, gigantic linemen - the offensive front averages well over 300 pounds - a top-end quarterback in LT Retamoza, and a coaching infusion from Southern California (first-year head coach Kenny McMillan and **** istants Sean Embree and Ryan Crowe all coached at defending state Open Division champion Santa Margarita-Rancho Santa Margarita) - Cardinal Newman-Santa Rosa might be primed to end De La Salle's streak in a Week 2 (Sept. 4) game in Concord.

More importantly, playing the Spartans to the final horn in the playoffs recently, there is an internal belief they can slay the dragon.

Lind, 37, appeared in a photo shared on Instagram by a mystery woman named Hayley on Friday, August 21. The two posed for a selfie at the Days of '76 Rodeo in Deadwood, South Dakota.
While her relationship to the former reality star remains unclear, fans were quick to notice that Lind's ex Chelsea Houska DeBoer liked the photo, and follows the woman on Instagram.
Chelsea, 34 — who welcomed daughter Aubree with her ex during season 2 of MTV's 16 & Pregnant in September 2009 — shared a photo of herself, Aubree and a friend to her Instagram Story with the caption "10/10 day."
A screenshot was later shared by a fanpage TeenMomTrashTalk alongside the selfie of Lind and Hayley, seemingly hinting that the friend is the same woman in both photos.

Panthers head coach Dave Canales told reporters on Tuesday that Brooks and Hubbard will be in a committee to start the season, so Brooks has a chance to capture the lead back role.
A handful of backups or depth RBs have made a push this past week, including Jordan Mason (who I actually like over Aaron Jones Sr. as a draft selection), Braelon Allen (while Breece Hall deals with injury) and MarShawn Lloyd (with Josh Jacobs surrounded by question marks). One other riser I like as a sleeper right now: Texans tight end Dalton Schultz, who has cracked the top 150 on Yahoo and has an underrated chance to be a TE1 and a top target in Houston with Jayden Higgins out for the season.
