Former Man Utd and City star Carlos Tevez has opened up about the intense animosity he felt toward Gary Neville following his controversial cross-town switch in Manchester. The Argentine forward admitted he was left fuming by public criticisms made by his former captain after he swapped Old Trafford for the Etihad Stadium.
Tevez sent shockwaves through English football in 2009 when he traded Manchester United for fierce local rivals Manchester City. At the time, City were freshly armed with Abu Dhabi investment and determined to disrupt the Premier League's established hierarchy.
Tevez had enjoyed immense success at Old Trafford, securing two league ******* les and a Champions League crown. However, a bitter contract dispute triggered his departure across the city.
The Argentine striker felt aggrieved by Sir Alex Ferguson, claiming the legendary Scottish manager broke a verbal promise to sign him permanently after his two-year loan spell concluded. This tension laid the foundation for an acrimonious exit and a lingering rivalry with former captain Neville, who accused Tevez of disrespecting the manager.
The animosity between Tevez and Neville stemmed from the full-back's public ******* ertion that the striker had mishandled his departure. Speaking on Rio Ferdinand's YouTube channel, the scale of that friction was laid bare.

A TikTok influencer has said that white women, especially blond-haired women, have an overly inflated sense of their looks, stating that this mentality causes much animosity in her video.
Kylie Brewer named the video "Blonde wh!te women tend to overrate their attractiveness." This is the sequel to her earlier video, where she said white men overestimate their looks.
Brewer claims that lots of white women find it hard to understand that other people might not think of them as the ultimate choice.
"If you tell them that you don't think that, that's the most attractive type of person out there, they literally cannot imagine it because for them, their experience of what they think is colorism is between blonde and brunettes," Brewer said.
"And white women get incredibly territorial over blond hair and over men in general," she added.

"Severance" star Adam Scott has opened up about his childhood growing up in Santa Cruz, CA, revealing how his parents' very different homes—and the city's famous beachfront boardwalk—helped shape his journey to Hollywood.
Long before Scott found fame on shows like "Severance" and "Parks and Recreation," he was splitting his childhood between two modest, single-story homes in the California coastal city after his parents divorced when he was just 5 years old.
"My parents lived in coastal Santa Cruz. They divorced when I was 5, so I divided my time between their houses," the 53-year-old "The Whisper Man" actor told the Wall Street Journal.
Despite their separation, Scott said his parents went to great lengths to shield him and his older siblings, David and Shannon, from any animosity.

Kevin Durant admits he struggled to accept Russell Westbrook's retirement originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Back in the day, Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook were among the best partnerships in the league. It was a legendary duo that helped the Oklahoma City Thunder become perennial contenders with them as the superstars. Unfortunately, that came to an end when Kevin Durant made a big decision to join the Golden State Warriors in 2016.
It was a sad ending to one of the best duos in recent NBA history. That propelled Westbrook to become a bigger star, winning the MVP in 2017. Unfortunately, Westbrook ended up becoming an NBA journeyman in the later part of his career, eventually retiring in 2026.
Durant's departure from OKC was a sad one because everyone thought he and Westbrook would stay together and win a championship. Unfortunately, only Durant won a ***** le, and those two rings are disputed by a lot of people for being an easy way out for him.
Despite the animosity that stemmed from his exit, it seems that Durant and Westbrook are good friends. In fact, Westbrook is still quite friendly with Durant's mother, Wanda. It is a sad ending for one of this generation's best players, but it seems he made the right decision for him in the long-term future by stepping away on his terms.

John Cusack has made his position known as Mark Ruffalo challenges Paramount's allegations. The Hulk star is locked in a feud with Paramount Skydance over its its bid to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery. Paramount responded with a statement accusing Ruffalo of invoking "antisemitic tropes" in a business dispute.
Mark Ruffalo has found an ally in John Cusack, who is standing by him in solidarity as he weathers antisemitism accusations. According to Entertainment Weekly, the allegations emerged after Ruffalo condemned Oracle last week. The tech company is owned by billionaire Larry Ellison. His son, David Ellison, heads Paramount Skydance and is spearheading the $110 billion bid to merge Paramount with Warner Bros.
Ruffalo rejected the antisemitism claims in a lengthy response on X (formerly Twitter). It read, "The accusation that I am antisemitic is appalling and fundamentally dishonest. Criticizing the actions of the Israeli prime minister, a military technology contract, or the executives who supply it is not the same as criticizing Jewish people."
The 13 Going on 30 actor clarified that his views stem from his own political beliefs. He emphasized that no one should interpret his views as animosity toward Jewish people. Ruffalo also noted that his Jewish friends and colleagues have deeply shaped his understanding of acting, activism, and humanism. Those loved ones, he said, have been like family to him throughout his life.
John Cusack, who has been a vocal supporter of Palestinian rights and a critic of corporate consolidation in Hollywood, weighed in shortly after. Responding to Ruffalo's statement, Cusack wrote simply: "Solidarity — well said."

The conversation stemming from Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham's comments on transgender athletes added another plot point on Thursday, with a prominent sports columnist saying he resigned due to censorship over the topic.
Matt Calkins, who penned columns for The Seattle Times for more than a decade, announced on X this afternoon that he was stepping down.
"After 11 years as a sports columnist at The Seattle Times, I have decided to resign," Calkins wrote. "It was entirely my choice, and it was not an easy one. The impetus was the Times declining to run a column I wrote from the perspective of two female student athletes who were opposed to competing against biological males. It was one of several pieces of mine that had been spiked, and I no longer felt like I could properly do my job as a columnist."
Calkins, who also said he "enjoyed my time with the paper" and "have no animosity toward anyone who works there," went into greater detail on what led to his decision on his personal Substack.
While covering a WNBA game last month between the Seattle Storm and the Fever, Calkins encountered two teenage girls who were part of a pregame protest supporting Cunningham's views on keeping transgender women out of women's sports. After speaking with them, Calkins said he felt they weren't anti-trans and decided to write a column arguing that "supporting the separation of biological females and males doesn't automatically make you transphobic."

Darren Till's recent brawl outside of a pub in Liverpool was nothing but an attempt to sell wolf tickets for an eventual fight against Lee Browne.
The MMA (mixed martial arts) world has been seeing more and more wolf tickets sold, as Nick Diaz used to call them. Wolf tickets are the tickets people buy when they think a beef is real, but it's not. We saw it with Sean Strickland and Khamzat Chimaev. And now we're seeing it with Darren Till and Lee Browne, on a much smaller stage.
Till was caught on camera punching Browne outside a pub. But lest you think that was real animosity on display, here's Till talking about how he and Browne only did it to gas up a potential future fight under Till's Gorilla Promotions boxing organization.
"I said, 'Look, come to Gorilla. We'll cause a little bit of a fuss and stuff like that.'" Till tod Full Mount MMA. "So he caused a little bit of fuss inside. I said, 'Look, we'll have a little bit of back and forth inside and outside. We'll get it fired, and we'll build a name off that.' And he was all for it."
"I feel like what we've done inside of Gorilla, if you can see the videos from that, and outside of it, I give him a little slap or two, and I can't remember what he done fully in Gorilla, we were arguing inside, and he threw something. I think he threw a bottle of water, and it just nicked me. And outside, I gave him a little slap."

Kyle Whittingham is trying to bring stability to Michigan, a program that's been ensnared in scandal for years. While the culture change the former longtime Utah head coach is overseeing appeared convincing at Big Ten media days in Chicago last month, Whittingham's remarks about the Wolverines' longstanding series with Ohio State gave a faction of the maize and blue faithful some pause.
"I just think that a rivalry can be intense and emotional without the hatred factor on it," Whittingham said on July 30. "I don't think there's any place for that, personally."
That response was amenable and arguably refreshing, considering the storied showdown has recently been characterized by personal animosity, chiefly among the teams' head coaches. But a contingent of fans seemingly wanted more from Whittingham. When asked about that flak during Monday's news conference, Whittingham clarified that he's "not trying to downplay" the matchup.
That same day, an interview, in which his quarterback uttered a line that arguably does just that, started its spread across the internet.
Wolverines sophomore signal-caller Bryce Underwood described "The Game" as " just another game" in a 1-on-1 with NBC Sports' John Fanta.

The NBA is giving the Boston Celtics a familiar opponent for one of the biggest games of the regular season. Boston will face the Miami Heat on Christmas Day as part of a five-game showcase on ABC and ESPN, the league officially announced Monday.
The complete schedule also includes the San Antonio Spurs against the New York Knicks, the Philadelphia 76ers against the Los Angeles Lakers, the Oklahoma City Thunder against the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Denver Nuggets against the Golden State Warriors.
Every matchup offers considerable star power, but Celtics-Heat carries something the others cannot manufacture: years of genuine animosity and postseason history.

MANCHESTER, England (AP) — FIFA president Gianni Infantino held off the potential of an internal revolt during a summit meeting in Morocco this week. A scathing response from European soccer's governing body on Thursday, however, showed that he still has a fight on his hands to hold onto power.
UEFA blasted Infantino and his organization again over his failed plan to sell stakes in the World Cup, declaring it wants ***** urances that "attempts to disfigure the game in this way will never be made again."
The reaction revealed the depths of animosity toward Infantino as he attempts to run for re-election next year while trying to quell outrage over the equity plan. FIFA issued an apology on Wednesday over the plan, and senior staff members at a crisis meeting in Rabat "reaffirmed their full support" for his presidency.
The UEFA response shows how the apology will not be enough to satisfy his fiercest detractors, who want a change at the top of FIFA.
That process will play out in the coming months with a vote in March among the 211 national member federations. Each nation gets a vote, and he needs a simple majority to retain his presidency.

American tennis star Coco Gauff weighed in on the WTA's new **** testing requirement for players, saying she understands the desire to create fair competition while also expressing her support for the transgender community.
Gauff, the world No. 4-ranked singles player is competing in the National Bank Open in Toronto, a 13-day tournament that started last week. She answered a question about the policy after her second-round win against fellow American Kayla Day on Wednesday, Aug. 5.
"I understand the reasoning behind it and I do think this kind of conversation has created a lot of animosity towards the trans community, which I'm not really a big fan of, but I also understand the, I guess, biological difference and the need to protect that and preserve that," Gauff said. "So I think it's a conversation that is very nuanced and I need to have a nuanced answer. So yes, I kind of agree with trying to protect the fairness in women's sports, but also do not like the attack that it is creating (by) people who don't really care but just want to use this as a reason to attack the trans community.
"I don't really know how to answer this question in a way that people aren't gonna spin it. But as far as where I stand, I definitely support the trans community but I also support the need of creating fairness in sport, too."
The WTA changed its gender eligibility policy July 21, requiring all players take a one-time SRY gene test. If a player tests positive, they will be ineligible to compete unless they can prove to the satisfaction of the WTA medical personnel that they have Complete Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome or another developmental **** disorder.

TORONTO (AP) — Coco Gauff understands the reasoning behind the WTA Tour's newly introduced gene-testing policy. What the two-time Grand Slam champion doesn't favor is how politicized the discussion becomes in generating what Gauff called, "animosity towards the trans community."
To her, the topic requires a more nuanced conversation, which is why Gauff provided what she called a nuanced answer, in speaking to reporters at the Canadian Open in Toronto following her opening-match win over Kayla Day on Wednesday.

Invoking a wounded innocence that their desire for sports to be simple, just like they used to be, conservatives for a decade and a half have dreaded the word "politics". Now they cannot get enough.
Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio has spent 40 years in the National Football League unknown except for his defensive schemes, but last week opened his press remarks mocking the congressional testimony of Dr Anthony Fauci, jokingly invoking the Fifth Amendment before taking questions. Apropos of nothing, President Trump publicly surmised that LeBron James might be a racist. Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham is now in the act, accepting the role as the right's anti-Black, anti-transgender culture war ambassador, the role originally intended for Caitlin Clark.
If Clark has lacked the courage and dexterity to say anything beyond the milky and ambiguous, Sophie Cunningham does not suffer from such internal conflicts. Largely anonymous politically or otherwise during her eight-year career, Cunningham – she of the viral finger-point which has been adopted as a symbol of the white animosity toward the WNBA culture – is in her moment. Her comments in a lengthy 21 July ESPN profile stating her opposition to transgender athletes has earned her hero status of the specious "Protect Our Girls" movement, even though you'd need a microscope to find any critical mass of transgender women participating in sports at any level.
Cunningham plays role of the blithe and bubbly iconoclast, oblivious to the world around as she unapologetically speaks her truths, but she is every bit as political as Colin Kaepernick, Megan Rapinoe, or her locked-armed, T-shirt wearing colleagues that defined the WNBA when she first entered the league in 2019. Cunningham forged a tough, take-no-prisoners-without-taking-herself-too-seriously persona, but was too meek to address the toxic roots of her newfound fame.
So too, was ESPN, which waited nearly 75 paragraphs just to sidestep the foundation of Cunningham's rise: she is profiting from cultural fractures that may be good for her but are tearing her league apart:

Next FIFA president: Candidates to challenge Gianni Infantino once presidential election is called originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
There is a growing animosity inside and outside FIFA regarding the standing of president Gianni Infantino, who has spent a decade in charge of the football governing body.
For the majority of Infantino's 10 years in charge, the feeling within FIFA has been that of a united front behind Infantino, even as fans and media express frustration with the direction of the game throughout recent years. The Swiss-born football executive has seen the non-profit's cash reserves grow exponentially, while the World Cup has blossomed into a cash behemoth.
Yet it only took one major controversy for Infantino's position to become not just tenuous, but downright toxic, as the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) proposal has completely eroded faith in the president and generated criticism and vitriol across all corners of the football world.
The Sporting News explains if Infantino will step down, and who could push to take over if the current president is either ushered out or loses the upcoming presidential vote in early 2027.

Chicago — Conference realignment has thrown a wrench in many of college football's traditional rivalries. At least one Big Ten coach says he feels a new one brewing with Michigan.
Tuesday at Big Ten Media Days, USC head coach Lincoln Riley said that the past two season's games against Michigan have taken on the air of a rivalry. And though the Wolverines aren't on the schedule this season, he's looking forward to building more history with the Big Ten's traditional teams.
"This has got a little bit of juice behind it," Riley said. "Whether it's at the Big House or at the Coliseum, those two programs walk on the field, those two helmets walk on the field, it's like, ***** , you know. This is real. It's pretty cool, and I think everybody kind of feels that."
Michigan's Kalel Mullings ran in a 1-yard, fourth down touchdown with 37 seconds left to beat USC, 27-24, in a ranked clash at Michigan Stadium in 2024. The next year, USC pounded Michigan 31-13 in Los Angeles.
No, this quote-unquote rivalry isn't replacing the Battle for the Jeweled Shillelagh for Southern Cal, or surpassing The Game in importance for Michigan. The Trojans will always have beef with Notre Dame and UCLA — no matter what scheduling drama there may be with the Irish. And the Wolverines' rivals of Ohio State and Michigan State carry a certain regional animosity that is as hot as ever these days.

We asked for your views on Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes asking to leave the club amid interest from Premier League champions **** nal.
Here are some of your comments:
Jona: Bruno wanting to leave is an inevitable by product of us selling our best players - Isak, Gordon and Tonali. While he would be the ideal captain to lead us during our rebuild, unfortunately you can understand him wanting to leave and challenge for **** les. We'll just have to get the best fee we can for him and shop smart in the market to replace him.
Samuel: This could be more of a kick in the teeth than Isak. The club captain, who throughout his entire time at the club has seemed so devoted to the journey we're on. There was a sense of inevitability around the Gordon and Tonali transfers, but I suppose I didn't see this one coming. I said last year when Isak left that there was a lot of work to be done to change player perspectives of the club. Clearly there's still more to do.
Gordon: I am saddened but not surprised. Bruno has been special as the engine of the team. A great leader and he will be missed, of course. I don't blame him for seeking a stronger more successful club. I hope the deal is done quickly and without animosity.

In her new memoir published this week, former first lady Jill Biden detailed an awkward car ride on Inauguration Day 2025 with incoming first lady Melania Trump

Jill wrote in the second-to-last chapter of A View from the East Wing that Melania and her had spent very little time together prior to their mandatory interaction
In her new memoir published this week, former first lady Jill Biden detailed an awkward car ride on Inauguration Day 2025, claiming that incoming first lady Melania Trump ducked a range of questions asked in the vehicle and instead tried limiting conversation to small talk about the weather.
While first ladies and presidents have previously shared private moments with their successors and predecessors in spite of political animosity, Jill wrote in the second-to-last chapter of A View from the East Wing that Melania and her had spent very little time together over the years.
