A Korean social media influencer says she was the victim of fraud after seeking emergency medical care in Mexico City while attending the 2026 World Cup, according to posts she shared online.
Nara Bask described the incident in a TikTok video, saying she fell ill after drinking a shot of tequila and was taken to a hospital after her friends called for help.
"People I've just been scammed I was admitted to a hospital in Mexico City because I had a shot of tequila," Bask said. "The truth is that I was left with very low pressure and we called the hospital because we could not, I could not move. The ambulance driver arrives and tells me, don't you have a symptom? Superirregular symptoms that your heart may be having tachycardia, we have to take you to the hospital and make you all these services. But not the ambulance is free of charge, the ambulance arrives, they charge us 24,000 pesos."
She continued: "And then we get here, when I arrived my sheets were already dirty and they had blood stains. Then they wanted to undress me in front of the cameras, but I was told that the cameras they were not useful, and in the end I had to tell them to turn them around."
Bask said the ambulance transfer, hospital deposit, and medical care ultimately cost her 48,777 pesos. She also said hospital staff made multiple failed attempts to insert an IV.
