The dollar index (DXY00) on Friday rose by +0.06%. The dollar found support as a hawkish US CPI report pushed odds of an FOMC rate hike next week up to 88% from 75% on Thursday. Also, the 10-year T-note yield on Friday rose by +0.6 bp, supporting the dollar's interest rate differentials.
Friday's -2.4% decline in oil prices initially caused the 10-year T-note yield to drop, despite the CPI report. However, the CPI report caught up with the T-note market by the end of the day, and the 10-year T-note yield ended slightly higher.

RTX Corporation (NYSE:RTX) is increasingly benefiting from surging demand for missiles, air-defense systems, and other military equipment as geopolitical tensions rise and governments expand defense spending. The stock is already up about 9% year-to-date, as investors increasingly price in the company's growing defense backlog and stronger long-term demand.
On September 1, the U.S. Department of War awarded RTX Corporation (NYSE:RTX)'s Raytheon business a $42.48 million cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for technical and engineering services supporting Navy air-traffic systems. The work includes engineering and restoration services for air-traffic navigation and coordination systems.
While relatively small compared with Raytheon's larger weapons contracts, the award comes amid a broader acceleration in defense spending.

The Bank of England must raise interest rates or risk losing market confidence, the central bank's chief economist has said.
In a speech in Edinburgh, Huw Pill said he was "uncomfortable" with holding interest rates steady to ******* s the impact of the Iran War. He warned that investors could lose faith in the Bank's ability to tackle inflation.
He said: "The danger exists that the market may lose confidence that expected Bank Rate increases will be implemented just at the time as it starts to entertain doubts that the MPC [Monetary Policy Committe] [sic] ability or willingness to bring inflation down to target."
The warning from Mr Pill comes after the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) voted 6-3 to hold interest rates at 3.75pc in July. It was held despite inflation standing at 2.9pc, above the Bank's 2pc target.
Unlike the majority of his colleagues, Mr Pill voted to increase the bank rate to 4pc

For the vast majority of my life, even as a retail expert who has covered the industry for over 30 years, I never thought much about supply chains outside of work. When I went to a grocery store, it nearly always had what I wanted.
During the Covid pandemic, however, supply chains became a dinner topic because our stores were running out of, or had run out of, key supplies.
In some cases, it was minor. You wanted Bounty, but had to settle for Brawny or even Viva.
When it came to toilet paper, however, that's when people really noticed, and panic buying stepped up. Americans weren't going to the bathroom more. They were not going to the office, so our supply of toilet paper wasn't geared for our quickly changing needs.
MIT supply chain expert Yossi Sheffi commented on the product shortages during the height of the pandemic in 2020.

XPeng shares fell toward 52-week support near $11 after an automotive top-line miss, but a robotics spin-off may be overlooked value.
XPeng's robotics unit, Dogotix, raised over $900 million in Series A funding backed by Tencent and Alibaba, valuing it at about $6.3 billion.
A sum-of-the-parts ******* ysis suggests XPeng's core EV business is valued at roughly $4.7 billion, seemingly ignoring the robotics division's worth.

Investors know that most dividend stocks dish out their payments on a quarterly basis. That's not a regulatory requirement, though. These companies can pay this money out at any cadence they like, including a monthly one. Some of them do so, in fact, including real estate investment trust Realty Income (NYSE: O).
To this end, how much monthly income would a $30,000 holding in Realty Income generate right now?

If you're not familiar with it, like all other real estate investment trusts -- or REITs -- this one owns revenue-bearing real estate. However, even by REIT standards, Realty Income is unique. It specializes in serving as a landlord to the brick-and-mortar retailing industry. Its top tenants include Dollar General, Walgreens, and 7-Eleven.
The industry focus clearly works, too. Not only has the company paid a monthly dividend like clockwork for decades, but it has also raised its per-share payment for 31 consecutive years. Indeed, it's raised its dividend every quarter for almost 29 years.

On August 13, Golar LNG (NASDAQ:GLNG) used its second-quarter earnings call to announce a fourth floating LNG unit, an order signed just hours before the call began. The Mark II vessel will be built at CIMC Raffles Shipyard in China and delivered within 2029, making it the earliest available liquefaction capacity anywhere in the world. Combined with an EBITDA backlog of $17 billion already locked in through Hilli, Gimi, and the FLNG Esperanza, the announcement reframes Golar as a company still adding capacity rather than one just running out its existing fleet.
The new order lifts Golar's controlled liquefaction capacity by 41%, from 8.6 million tonnes to more than 12 million tonnes once fully delivered. Management said that if the unit is chartered on terms similar to last year's Esperanza deal, annual earnings capacity could rise 50%, pushing run-rate EBITDA past $1.2 billion by 2030. That confidence rests on a shipyard bottleneck.
Samsung, the industry's biggest builder, isn't expected to have open capacity until 2031, and Wison in China is on track to book its next two large units, leaving it committed well into the next decade. Seatrium and CIMC, the only two yards actively converting FLNG units right now, have built exclusively for Golar. The operating record backs up the growth pitch. Hilli finished its eight-year Cameroon contract with 100% economic uptime and 156 cargoes delivered, Gimi produced 15% above its contracted volume in the quarter, and the Esperanza conversion is 74% complete and still on budget. Commodity-linked income is already showing up in the numbers: Hilli's contribution jumped to $37 million in the quarter from $10 million in the first quarter, helping push EBITDA up 20% sequentially to $127 million.
Growth at this pace isn't free. The CapEx budget for the fourth FLNG unit came in around $2.45 billion, roughly 10% above the $2.2 billion spent on Esperanza, a jump management tied to inflation in long-lead equipment like turbines and dual-fuel engines, parts now being bid up by AI data center and aircraft manufacturers too. That new unit also has no charter yet, so the 50% earnings boost management is pointing to is a target, not a locked-in number.
Meanwhile, Golar is still equity funding Esperanza, having put in $1.3 billion of its $2.2 billion budget, while carrying net interest-bearing debt of about $1.8 billion. Executives are counting on refinancing Hilli and locking in long-term financing for Esperanza to free up roughly $2.3 billion in liquidity, transactions that are still in progress rather than done. The commodity exposure that flatters earnings when LNG prices are high works the same way in reverse. Management's own sensitivity table shows EBITDA falling back toward $1.2 billion if prices settle near $8 per million BTU, well below the $1.9 billion implied by today's $15 forward price. And the disruption at Qatar's Ras Laffan facility, which knocked out an estimated 17 million tonnes of capacity for three

Baron Capital, an investment management company, released its Q2 2026 investor letter for the "Baron Health Care Fund". A copy of the letter is available to download here. The Fund gained 11.99% during the quarter, compared with the 10.48% gain for the Russell 3000 Health Care Index and the 15.44% gain for the Russell 3000 Index. Since inception, the Fund appreciated 10.61% on an annualized basis, compared with 10.02% for the Benchmark and 14.83% for the Index. Strong stock selection in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, health care equipment, and life sciences tools and services supported the Fund's outperformance, although limited exposure to managed care stocks reduced relative returns. The Fund remains positive on health care due to improving biotechnology funding, strong acquisition activity, recovering managed care margins, and growth from an aging population, chronic disease, medical innovation, and higher health care spending. In addition, please check the Fund's top five holdings to know the best picks in 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Baron Health Care Fund highlighted Elevance Health, Inc. (NYSE:ELV). The fund re-established a position in Elevance Health, Inc. After several years of elevated utilization trends, inadequate reimbursement, and regulatory challenges coupled with aggressive pricing to drive share gains, which drove operating margins to depressed levels, UnitedHealth and Elevance have exited unprofitable Medicare Advantage markets and products, right-sized benefits, and are now in the process of rebuilding profitability. Tesla reported second-quarter revenue of $28.2 billion, a record that topped ***** yst estimates of $27.6 billion. However, the 33 cents per share the company reported missed estimates from ***** ysts polled by Tesla (TSLA), who were expecting 55 cents per share.

The bulls could cling to something worthy while they watch semiconductor stocks such as Sandisk (SNDK) and Micron (MU) get blown to pieces.
About 72% of S&P 500 stocks are now trading above their 200-day moving average, the strongest market breadth since December 2024, according to data from Barchart (see below). The benchmark index is also holding near record highs.
"You've got essentially two-thirds of S&P 500 companies that are trading above their 200-day moving average. That's relatively healthy and still consistent with the market that is more rotational in nature and not necessarily one that is correctional," Charles Schwab strategist Kevin Gordon said on Yahoo Finance's Opening Bid.
Investors have cashed in their AI bets and have rotated into software, financials, industrials, healthcare, and consumer discretionary stocks for their perceived values. A strong earnings season from many companies, like Coca-Cola (KO) on Tuesday, has helped offset the negative tones stemming from reports out of Alphabet (GOOGL) and Tesla (TSLA).
The market has also been supported by resilient economic data, continued expectations for Federal Reserve rate cuts over the next year, and robust corporate profit growth, all of which have kept money flowing into stocks.

Marvell Technology (NASDAQ: MRVL) has emerged as a strong AI investment candidate throughout 2026. It has a great bull thesis and is right at the heart of the AI buildout.
Furthermore, Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) has invested $2 billion into Marvell and announced several strategic partnerships to ensure that Nvidia's computing units function on Marvell's products. This is a big deal because Marvell is starting to grow its custom AI chip business, and this could be a major part of the company someday, especially with the two major clients that it has.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
But is this enough to make Marvell the new Nvidia? Let's take a look.
Marvell makes connectivity devices for data centers and also ******* ists AI hyperscalers design custom chips. This is a great business to be in right now, as the AI buildout is full steam ahead. In its custom AI chip business, Marvel has captured two major clients: Amazon and Microsoft. These two companies operated the largest and second-largest cloud computing platforms in the world, and having these two as clients is a big deal for Marvell, as it gives them a major customer that wants to reduce reliance on Nvidia chips through designing their own.
