Monomoy (1-1) beat St. John Paul II (0-2), 6-0, on Monday under a new coaching staff.
It was the first Monomoy win for coaches Laura and Brynn Morris, who took over this season for Kyle Cappallo, who left this offseason.
On Monday's home opener win, Mia Zimmerman scored three goals. Sage Harrison scored one goal. Kate Huse had one goal and one ****** ist. Rebecca Brown scored her first varsity goal. Emery Cappallo had three ****** ists.
Goalie Maddy Swett had two saves for a shutout and is 40 saves away from 300.

Ria Ross has proven to be tough to beat in doubles play over the past three seasons no matter who is joining her on the same side of the net.
Playing with her fourth different partner this season, Ross picked up her 10th straight doubles victory on Monday as part of a perfect day on the court against Southeast Conference rival Fort Madison. Aubrey Ryan joined Ross to secure an 8-0 win in the top doubles match against Bloodhound teammates Lucille Zimmerman and Mikah Washington, helping ninth-ranked (1A) Fairfield improve to 7-0 in duals this season including a perfect 6-0 record in Southeast Conference duals with a pair of 9-0 victories over Fort Madison in a six-day span.
"Aubrey and I worked so well together," Ross said. "We communicated well. I felt like every point was well deserved with the way she placed the ball and the forehand shots I could hit."
Ryan earned her first varsity doubles win less than a week after picking up her first varsity singles victory against Remi Sanchez of Keokuk. The Fairfield junior earned a 6-1, 6-1 win to secure her first varsity victory.

GAINESVILLE, FL — Florida soccer outlasted Coastal Carolina, 3-2, on Thursday night to even up their record to 1-1.
In a game that had a two-hour rain delay, the Gators came out firing on all cylinders, taking a 2-0 lead in the first half of play.
Senior forward Kyra Taylor led the way with two first-half goals in her home debut for the program. Katie Johnston also contributed with a goal in the second half to put the team up 3-2 in the 76th minute to seize control of the match.
Florida was more aggressive and controlled the pace with 19 shots, 13 of them coming on goal, compared to Coastal's five shots, three of them on goal. The program also had 11 more fouls than Coastal.
Thursday's win also marks the first win under head coach Nick Zimmerman. The new head coach spoke on the team's performance in the one-score victory.

ROCKTON, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — A slew of injuries derailed Hononegah's football season last year before it even had a chance to get going. The Indians still made the playoffs. A healthy roster this year could find the Indians challenging for the NIC-10 championship.
Hononegah head coach Brian Zimmerman would just as soon forget about last season and all the injuries this team endured.

"It's something that we're going to put in the rearview mirror, and so far, so good, we're healthy this season."

One player they missed last year because of a shoulder injury was running back and linebacker Brody Sendele. He was able to wrestle last winter after football season. He won a state championship. Now he's back on the football field.

"I really missed football. I enjoy football a lot, hanging out with my buddies. Wrestling is really a one-person sport, all about yourself. I love football."

"He gets after it, said Zimmerman. "Anytime we can get wrestlers in the football program, I love it."

The Indians have also welcomed aboard a pair of transfers from Boylan, huge lineman Caleb Collins and quarterback Dominic Cacciatore.

Zimmerman says Cacciatore has had a smooth transition. "He's done a really nice job of adapting to our offense, what we like to run. He's got a good rapport with his teammates."

Hononegah offensive lineman Richard Gambini has been impressed with Cacciatore's dedication to grasping Hononegah's offense. "His dad (John) was obviously the Boylan head coach. He (John) had him (Dominic) have all the flashcards out for our plays studying them all, and he knew them all before we even got to training camp. I think he looks great."

Cacciatore should have one of the most reliable and productive receivers in the NIC-10 to throw to in 6-4 Caleb Parker-Lones. He showed flashes of what he can do last season.

"Last season Caleb did a great job of getting his first downs," said Zimmerman. "Any time we need a first down, it seemed like the ball went to him."

Ryan Fritsch was one of the top sprinters in the conference in track last spring. He'll play the slot receiver. Giovanni Zepeda and tight end Logan Wilson are also proven pass catchers.

Sendele will play some running back along with Emerson Tuula.

Up front the Indians return starting center Tim Caver, starting right tackle Richard Gambini and starting right guard Wyatt Kinney.

Some of the defensive stalwarts will be Logan Wilson off the edge at end, Tristen Ginn at tackle, and Chase Timmerman at defensive end. Sendele and Tuula at linebacker, and Fritsch and Jacob Duval in the defensive secondary.

"I think the defense is pretty strong right now from what I've seen in practice," said Sendele. "I think we're going to be a pretty good defense."

Zimmer Biomet Holdings (NYSE:ZBH) reported better-than-expected second-quarter results and increased its guidance for the full year, helping lift the medical technology company's shares more than 4% in pre-market trading.
The company posted adjusted earnings of $2.07 per share, exceeding the Wall Street consensus estimate of $2.01. Revenue rose 4.8% year over year to $2.18 billion, ahead of ***** yst expectations of $2.14 billion. On an organic constant-currency basis, revenue increased 4.0%.
Following its stronger first-half performance, Zimmer Biomet raised its adjusted earnings per share guidance for fiscal 2026 to between $8.47 and $8.59.
The midpoint of the revised range, $8.53 per share, is above the Wall Street consensus estimate of $8.47.
The company also increased its revenue outlook, now expecting reported sales growth of between 3.9% and 4.9%, compared with its previous forecast of 2.5% to 4.5%.

Zimmer Biomet has reported Q2 revenues of around $2.18bn, denoting a year-over-year (YoY) uptick of 4.8%, and a revised full year outlook.
Zimmer's knees segment was its strongest performer in Q2, with sales totalling $828.9m, followed by S.E.T. (Sports Medicine, Extremities, Trauma, Craniomaxillofacial and Thoracic) at $586m, and hips at $562.7m. However, while Zimmer's technology and data, bone cement and surgical segment drew in the lowest profits in Q2 at $199.4m, this segment saw the largest YoY growth at 21.1%, followed by S.E.T. at 6.4% and hips at 5%. Meanwhile, YoY growth in knees remained flat at 0.4%.
The orthopaedics giant now expects 2026 revenue growth to land in the 3.9% to 4.9% range, up from 2.5% to 4.5% previously, with earnings now mooted to come in at $8.47-$8.59 per diluted share, up from $8.40-$8.55 previously.
Zimmer released its Q2 financials ahead of market open. The company's shares on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) rose by over 5% to around $101.00 at market open on 5 August, up from $95.81 previously. Zimmer Biomet has a market cap of $19.63bn.
Reflecting on Zimmer's Q2 performance, Tornos, said: "With a strong first half, healthy underlying markets, go-to-market changes progressing as planned and continued momentum from our innovation cycle, we are raising our revenue and adjusted earnings per share (EPS) guidance for the year.

Aug. 6—Illinois football training camp is underway. But that isn't the only Illini team building up to the start of their seasons. Beat writer Scott Richey spotlights three other Illini programs before they get going in the 2026-27 school year:
Saturday evening's exhibition at Marquette will mark the only time between now and the end of the month Illinois will play away from Demirjian Park. Katie Hultin's second season as coach will officially begin with four straight home matches. None bigger, of course, than the Aug. 13 season opener against No. 19 Georgia, which will pit Illini junior forward Cayla Jackson against her old team in the Bulldogs' return of a 2024 match in Athens, Ga. Georgia won 2-0, with Jackson scoring her first career goal in her collegiate debut for the Bulldogs.
The Big Ten's move to a 17-match slate, where each team plays every other conference member once puts more emphasis on the nonconference portion of the schedule. League play will serve as its typical résumé booster, but 11 nonconference matches now have more weight. Freedman also represented the state of Western Australia during her high school years, one of her best performances came at the 2023 Australia U18 Championships, where she scored a brace in pool play after recording a hat trick in the U21 bronze medal game just two months earlier.
Freedman finds herself part of a deep midfield group in preparation for the fall and is one of five newcomers looking to break in alongside returning starters Laura Salamanca and Emilie Kirschner. However, her advantage is her strong resume at one of the highest levels of field hockey on the planet.

The Washington Commanders are a team of mystery in 2026. Washington has new offensive and defensive coordinators in 2026. David Blough and Daronte Jones are both first-time NFL coordinators, and Blough is entering only his third season as a coach after last playing in the NFL in 2023.
When you have first-time coordinators, there's a bit of a mystery about what type of schemes they'll run. Jones has worked under several notable defensive minds, such as Mike Zimmer, Lou Anarumo, Marvin Lewis and, most recently, Brian Flores.
As for Blough, he spent time under Ben Johnson, Kevin O'Connell and former Washington offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury. While Blough's scheme is expected to feature some of what Kingsbury did, everyone expects a Johnson-influenced offense with more play action, pre-snap motion, and quarterback Jayden Daniels under center more frequently.
One reason head coach Dan Quinn moved on from Kingsbury was that he and GM Adam Peters wanted a different offensive approach. Less of the fast-break, no-huddle approach from Kingsbury, and more of a traditional offense to take advantage of Daniels' dual-threat ability.
There's more mystery about Washington's offensive playmakers around Daniels. Did Peters do enough to improve the offense around Daniels? That's been a featured question throughout the offseason. Peters made significant investments in the defense, which should help Daniels more than anything. Offensively, the Commanders added some interesting names in free agency, including tight end Chig Okonkwo, running back Rachaad White, and receivers Dyami Brown and Van Jefferson, as well as Antonio Williams via the NFL draft.

The Green Bay Packers’ defensive coordinator search began when Jeff Hafley, who coordinated the defense for two seasons, joined the Miami Dolphins as the head coach in January. At the time, sources reported the Packers had agreed to terms with Gannon on January 25, 2026, and the hire was officially announced on February 2nd, with LaFleur saying he was “thrilled” to add someone with Gannon’s experience as both a coordinator and a head coach.

The post comes amid reports that Kate is allegedly struggling with the prospect of her son publicly sharing his side of the family's story.
On Saturday, Collin reposted a social media graphic highlighting recent reports about his memoir. The post featured a headline that read, "Kate Gosselin 'spiraling' ahead of estranged son Collin's bombshell memoir: 'She knows it's about to hit the fan.'"
However, it wasn't the headline that caught fans' attention. Collin noticeably blurred out Kate's face in the image before sharing it to his Instagram Stories. He also included a fan comment that read, "What's done in darkness will always come to light."
Adding to the tone, Collin paired the post with Hans Zimmer's "Day One," a track from Christopher Nolan's 2014 film "Interstellar." The combination of the blurred image, cryptic message, and cinematic soundtrack quickly fueled speculation that Collin was intentionally signaling that he intends to move forward with the memoir despite any criticism or backlash.
Collin's post arrived shortly after reports surfaced claiming Kate was blindsided by news of the memoir.

The country star, 26, was previously accused of causing over $16,000 in damages to a room at the Sandia Resort and Casino in Albuquerque, and a warrant for his arrest was issued on Thursday, June 18. He was facing a fourth-degree felony for criminal damage to property over $16,000 and a misdemeanor for falsely obtaining services — but prosecutors have now dropped the charges.

Country singer Bailey Zimmerman has apologized after he allegedly left his New Mexico hotel room trashed while on his Different Night Same Rodeo tour.
Zimmerman, 26, is accused of causing more than $16,000 in damage to a hotel room at Sandia Resort and Casino in Albuquerque after he canceled his May 27 show that was scheduled at the resort, according to court documents filed in Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court and obtained by The Independent.
A warrant was issued for Zimmerman's arrest last Thursday, though he has not been arrested.
The "Backup Plan" artist has since issued a statement regarding his alleged behavior, saying, per TMZ: "First things first, I want to apologize to the Pueblo of Sandia and to everyone at Sandia Resort & Casino. I never meant for any of this to come across as disrespectful. I am deeply sorry for my actions that transpired. I respect your community and the hospitality and appreciate the opportunity that was given to me to perform on Native Land. I take full accountability for everything that happened and I am sorry to anyone who feels hurt or disrespected."
Addressing the concert cancellation, Zimmerman apologized to his fans. "I am so sorry, you deserved better from me. I understand that being a musician comes with big responsibilities, both on and off stage, and I know that I fell short that day. I am reflecting on the disappointment and concern that I caused," he said, adding that he is "taking this legal matter seriously" and is "committed to doing the work necessary to learn and grow."
