The Auburn Tigers are just days away from opening the 2026 season against the Baylor Bears in the Aflac Kickoff Game in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Tigers would love nothing more than to start the Alex Golesh era with a win, which would be a great start toward building momentum for the rest of the season. However, Auburn is one of two SEC teams facing a Power Five opponent in Week 1, which will provide the Tigers with a great challenge early in the season.
The Tigers and Bears met in Week 1 of the 2025 season, with Auburn taking down home-standing Baylor, 38-24, in Waco. Both teams would go on to finish the season with 5-7 records; however, only one team will begin the season with a new coach.

Just when we thought festival season was over, Olivia Rodrigo flipped it and reversed it with Daisy Chain Fields. The Pittsburgh Steelers announced their first 11 cuts on Friday night and on Saturday added two more as the team works to trim down to 53 players by the Sunday deadline. One of Saturday's cuts was outside linebacker Jamin Davis, a former first-round pick of the Washington Commanders.
Davis had been working as the team's No. 5 outside linebacker since the team signed him but faced stiff competition with a stacked group of edge defenders locked in on the Steelers roster. Pittsburgh is projected to keep T.J. Watt, Alex Highsmith, Nick Herbig and Jack Sawyer, with no room for a fifth outside linebacker.
In addition to Davis, the Steelers also released wide receiver Levi Wentz. Like outside linebacker, wide receiver is mostly set for the Steelers with DK Metcalf, Michael Pittman Jr., Germie Bernard, Roman Wilson, Ben Skownorek and Kaden Wetjen rounding out the depth chart.

Arizona football is just about finished with training camp, and most eyes are turning towards the season opener against NAU on September 5. For the Wildcats offense, most things are ready to go and Seth Doege is feeling confident heading into year two.
Of course, it helps when you have a returning Heisman candidate quarterback in Noah Fifita, but the pieces around him are looking the part. From the veterans to the young guys, almost every position group on offense has good depth.
However, it is always nice to have emergency plans if things were to take a turn for the worse, and it's even better when you have complete confidence in those who would have to step up if called into action.
Doege has that confidence not only in his backups but also has it for the young guys that might not play as much but can still be playmakers.
No one wants to think about the possibility of Fifita having to come out for any reason, but if he does there needs to be a quarterback ready to go. Doege has decided on the guy who will be behind Fifita on the depth chart with sophomore Sawyer Anderson being named the backup quarterback.

On Thursday night, the Pittsburgh Steelers kick off the preseason against the Green Bay Packers and here's what to watch for on defense.
We don't expect to see much if any, of the Steelers top edge defenders, but this will be a great chance to see how far Jack Sawyer has come since his rookie season.
Rookie cornerback Daylen Everett and safety Robert Spears-Jennings have been tremendous in camp and we can't wait to see them go against the Packers offense on Thursday night as they put up the depth chart.
Benton has been working at defensive end and we can't wait to see what he can do. On a related note, we are excited to see Yahya Black in Benton's old spot at nose tackle.

Losing Williams, combined with the 2025 MLB Draft defections of transfers Jack Moroknek and Kaleb Freeman, contributed to 94 at bats for Jayden Duplantier, 15 starts for late addition Dariyan Pendergrass, who committed to Texas in December, and 14 starts for Maddox Monsour. From Cameron Heyward and John Simon to Joey Bosa, Nick Bosa, Chase Young, Sam Hubbard, Zach Harrison, J.T. Tuimoloau and Jack Sawyer. The Buckeyes have consistently developed elite defensive linemen capable of taking over games and eventually becoming NFL stars.

The top priority for new Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy was to come in and improve a struggling offense. The jury is still out as to whether or not this happened based on our offensive grades but we do feel like the Steelers defense is ready to take the next step under new defensive coordinator Patrick Graham.
Here are our grades for the Steelers defensive positional units heading into training camp next week.
Even if Cameron Heyward is trending down in his career, he's still an excellent player. You pair him up with young star Derrick Harmon and they have the best pair of 3-4 defensive ends in the AFC. This unit would get an A if we had more confidence in a consistent season from nose tackle Keeanu Benton but the depth of Yahya Black and Sebastian Joseph-Day keeps this grade up.
The trio of T.J. Watt, Alex Highsmith and Nick Herbig are the best trio of edge defenders in the NFL. Bar none. It's just a matter of getting them all of the field. All the focus is on them but Jack Sawyer is a great No. 4 edge.
This group is untapped potential and overrated salaries. Patrick Queen hasn't lived up to his contract, Payton Wilson is still a work in progress and no one else on the depth chart really matters.

There are times when NASCAR deserves criticism, and there are times when it deserves credit.
Sunday night at EchoPark Speedway unquestionably falls into the latter category.
After severe weather delayed the Quaker State 400 for hours, NASCAR faced a difficult decision. It could have waited just long enough to reach the halfway point, declared the race official and sent everyone home. Instead, race control, track officials and the industry made a commitment to the competitors and the fans: race the full 400 miles.
As this story is being written, the field is preparing to restart with 61 laps remaining in Stage 3. The clock reads 12:55 a.m., and NASCAR is still determined to give fans the complete event they paid to see.
That's exactly the right decision by NASCAR, Elton Sawyer, John Probst and the entire crew.

The Milwaukee Brewers had been heavily connected to Sawyer Strosnider in mock drafts throughout the weeks leading up to the 2026 MLB Draft. Ranked as a top 30 talent in this Draft, including 13th overall by Baseball America, the Brewers were ultimately able to select Strosnider, but not at 25 overall where he was expected. Milwaukee gets their guy at 66 overall.
In the first round, the Brewers went with a likely heavy under-slot selection with Corona (CA) HS shortstop Trey Ebel.
Strosnider fell likely due to some struggles late in the season for TCU, but he has one of the best power-speed combinations in this entire class. Both tools grade out as plus with legendary home runs and blazing speed. He hit .273/.415/.590 on the season for the Horned Frogs with 13 homers and 12 stolen bases. Strosnider drew as many walks as he had strikeouts (43) as well.
The Brewers have historically loved great athletes, especially multi-sport athletes and Strosnider was a three sport star in high school. He played basketball as well as track and field on top of baseball. Strosnider’s event of choice was the high jump, which bodes well for potential home run robberies in the outfield. That athleticism should give him a much better chance to make any adjustments necessary to be successful at the next level.
Strosnider has an aggressive approach at the plate, which has led to him chasing a few too many pitches outside of the zone, leading to lower quality contact sometimes. The Brewers historically preach smart swing decisions and that’s likely something they’re going to work on heavily with him once he gets in the organization.

The Hens bounced back with a solid victory on Wednesday night.
The Hens jumped out to a big lead in the bottom of the first. Max Clark led off with a walk, and Max Anderson doubled him to third. Eduardo Valencia walked to load the bases, and Corey Julks drew a walk to force in the game’s first run. Trei Cruz singled in Anderson, and Tyler Gentry drew a walk to force in the third run. Tomas Nido reached on an error to score another run, and the Cubs wild pitched in one more before the inning ended.
Nido would double in the bottom of the third, and score on an Andrew Navigato single for a 5-0 lead.
Sawyer Gipson-Long cruised for three innings, but allowed a pair of runs before wrapping up the fourth. Enmanuel de Jesus allowed a two-run homer in the sixth to make it a 6-4 game, but in the bottom of the sixth, Valencia launched his 15th home run to make it 7-4.
Scott Effross was good out of the pen in the seventh and eighth, striking out four. Woo-Suk Go continues to dominate out of the pen, and he picked up his second save in this one.

North County 11, Hudson 4: Adam Adams went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs, Brodhi Byars was 3 for 4 with an RBI and two runs, J.J. Walker was 2 for 4 with an RBI and two runs, and Will Gage notched two hits and three RBIs to boost visiting North County (5-0-1).
Shamus Rowe, Max Cedeno, Joey Farrell and J.P. Pileeki all singled and scored for Hudson (5-2).
Leominster 7, Framingham 3: Brendan Mariani was 2 for 4 with two runs, while Sawyer Corbin, Danny Nelson and Connor Moriarty all singled and scored to host Leominster (5-1).
Matty Johansson doubled in Ben Morse in the first for Framingam (4-3), Colin Walsh singled in Charlie Jesman in the sixth and Brennan Anderson scored in the seventh.
Northbridge 8, Main South 4: Cody Veneziano went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and run, Jake Costello was 4 for 4 with a run, J.P. Texas A&M baseball has seen its first non‑pitcher enter the transfer portal this offseason, and this one stings a little more than most. Sophomore infielder Sawyer Farr, a legacy Aggie who never stopped grinding for a role, has officially entered the portal, as first reported by Aggie Sports 365 and later confirmed by On3.
Farr’s path in College Station was anything but straightforward. Thrust into a starting job far earlier than expected during the injury‑plagued 2025 season, he endured the typical freshman growing pains while trying to stabilize an infield that was constantly in flux. Despite being a top‑rated shortstop in his class, he wasn’t projected to play nearly as much as he did, and the learning curve showed.
The 2026 season brought even more competition. True freshman Boston Kellner seized the starting shortstop job from day one, while Chris Hacopian opened the year at second base. Even when Hacopian shifted to designated hitter due to injury, veteran Ben Royo stepped in at second, leaving Farr without a clear path to consistent innings.
With Jack Bell arriving through the portal and both freshman starters potentially returning, the infield picture only grew more crowded. Farr found himself on the outside looking in, reduced to backup opportunities rather than a defined role.
Still, he made the most of the chances he did get. Across 19 games and 40 at‑bats, Farr posted a .250/.400/.325 slash line, showing improved plate discipline and the same clutch gene that surfaced multiple times during his freshman campaign.

Luckily, there were no people nearby. But in its aftermath, scientists immediately went to work, piecing together what happens when a mountainside collapse kicks off a mega-tsunami and no one is around to see it.
This is how it happened: On August 10, at 5:30 in the morning, an entire mountainside at the mouth of the receding South Sawyer glacier detached, falling into the ocean and producing a monster wave. At its peak, the wave raced up over 1,500 feet on the opposing wall of the fjord — a height taller than Kuala Lumpur’s twin Petronas towers.
The mega-tsunami wreaked havoc across the landscape, stripping forests down to bare rock, ripping trees out by their roots and hurling boulders.
It also produced a seismic vibration so strong it shook the entire planet for days. Only the second time that an effect like this has been recorded anywhere, it was caused by trapped energy from the wave sloshing around in the fjord for days following the initial event.
