With the first week of NFL preseason kicking off this week, Nate Davis of USA TODAY Sports has released his updated NFL power rankings.
Davis is giving the Denver Broncos a lot of respect, ranking them third overall, only trailing the Los Angeles Rams (No. 1) and Seattle Seahawks (No. 2). By his estimation, Denver's the team to beat in the AFC this fall.
"You can make a legitimate case that at least half of the AFC's teams have a bona fide shot to reach the Super Bowl − which, conversely, also suggests none of them exactly seem like heavyweights well positioned to compete with the NFC's elite," Davis wrote for USA TODAY. "But the Broncos were probably one key injury away from going to Super Bowl 60 and might be even better in Year 3 of the Sean Payton-Bo Nix era, the latter healthy once again.
Elsewhere in the AFC West, the Kansas City Chiefs are ranked No. 14, the Los Angeles Chargers are ranked No. 16 and the Las Vegas Raiders are ranked No. 28. To view the complete power rankings, visit USATODAY.com.

Patchy Mix knew he wouldn't get his hands raised Tuesday in Tokyo, as he missed weight for his RIZIN 54 co-main event bout with Shoko Sato and any other result other than a loss would be immediately overturned to a no-contest, and the two-point deduction for the miss made the difference in the end.
Mix was more than six pounds over the bantamweight limit, the reason why he was docked two points, and decided to go for the finish early on. Sato was declared the unanimous decision winner (28-27 x3), extending Mix's losing skid to four.

Akimoto was able to stop the Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist from taking the fight to the ground, fighting smart from the distance to land enough to leave Koike with a ****** face to win a decision.
"A lot of people are saying I don't need to fight for the belt," Akimoto said after the win. Schalke produced a dominant display in their pre-season friendly against Regionalliga side Hessen Kassel, with goals from Kenan Karaman, Junior Adamu, Adil Aouchiche, Moussa Sylla and Satoshi Tanaka sealing a comfortable 5-0 victory. However, injuries to Robin Gosens and Dejan Ljubičić cast a shadow over an otherwise encouraging afternoon.
More than 18,000 spectators packed into the Auestadion to watch the newly promoted Bundesliga side take on the regional league outfit. The game got off to a worrying start for Schalke, as new signing Robin Gosens was on the receiving end of a heavy challenge inside the opening minute.
The left-back was left in visible pain and required lengthy treatment before attempting to continue. However, despite battling on, the Germany international was eventually forced off after just 13 minutes.
Schalke's injury concerns worsened after the break when midfielder Dejan Ljubičić was also forced off. The summer signing limped from the pitch, with the extent of both injuries still unclear.
While no official diagnosis has yet been confirmed, there is cautious optimism that neither issue is serious, as both Gosens and Ljubičić were able to leave the field under their own power.

When Ayami Sato takes the mound as the starting pitcher for the Los Angeles Queens on Saturday, it will be the culmination of a professional career that has spanned 16 years and three countries. The right-handed hurler is largely considered the best pitcher in the history of women's baseball. She has the awards and experience to prove it, and now she's taking on America when she makes her debut in the Women's Professional Baseball League, the first pro women's baseball league in the United States since the 1950s.
Even though most Americans tuning into the WPBL may not have heard of her, Sato's resume speaks for itself. Sato's fastball has been clocked at nearly 80mph and her curveball has a devastating spin rate that is higher than many Major League Baseball pitchers. As a member of the ****** an National Team since 2010, Sato has won six gold medals. She is the only player in Women's Baseball World Cup history to win three consecutive MVP awards. As a member of the now-defunct ****** an's Women's Baseball League, Sato led the league in strikeouts in three of the last four seasons. And most recently, in 2024 she became the first woman to play pro baseball in Canada as a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs of the Intercounty Baseball League.
Now, she is bringing her talent to the US and the WPBL. "This is a brand new league for all of us," Sato tells the Guardian through a translator. "So I also want to approach it with the mindset of a rookie –staying curious, paying attention to everything around me, and embracing this new challenge with an open mind."
The league will play all its games in a centralized location for its first season, at Robin Roberts Stadium in Springfield, Illinois. There are four teams – the Queens, the New York Heights, the San Francisco Firebells and the Boston Hunters. And the best players from all over the world will take the field together for the first time as one league, including at least nine players from the US women's national baseball team. On the Queens, Sato will play alongside USA star third baseman Ashton Lansdell and Little League World Series star Mo'ne Davis.
WPBL co-founder and commissioner Justine Seigel says it was always the plan to recruit internationally for the league. "We want many of the best players, and to have many of the best players, you have to go out into the world and find the best shortstop in Venezuela, and who's pitching in ****** an," Seigel says. "It's also fun because baseball is baseball, but it's also got its own little nuances country-to-country, and it's kind of fun to see in a game, as well."

CHICAGO (AP) — The nation's first women's professional baseball league in nearly 30 years is about to embark on its inaugural season in what marks a major milestone in the scattered history of the sport in the United States.
The Women's Pro Baseball League is also part of a timeline that goes back to the very beginning of the sport.
"Women have always been part of this game," said Kat Williams, the chief executive officer of the International Women's Baseball Center. "We've always played, we've always umpired, we've always coached. And in some of the earliest references in the 17th century, the earliest references to something like a game of baseball, it was women that were playing it."
Next up is the WPBL, which plays its first game Saturday. The league has four teams — New York, Boston, Los Angeles and San Francisco — for its first year, but the 15 regular-season games for each club and the playoffs will be held at Robin Roberts Stadium in Springfield, Illinois. The ballpark has a seating capacity of 5,200, and Springfield hosted one of the earliest paid women's games when the Blondes faced the Brunettes on Sept. 11, 1875.
Kelsie Whitmore, Mo'ne Davis and Ayami Sato are among the marquee names expected to play in the league's first season. Each team will have 15 active players for the seven-inning games.

Microstrategy has gone four consecutive weeks without buying a single satoshi of Bitcoin, its longest buying freeze in two years, while Michael Saylor keeps posting accumulation charts to X with the caption "We're gonna need another color."
The company sits on $3.225 billion in cash, MSTR is down roughly 33% year-to-date, and Q2 earnings land Thursday after the US market close. The central question for retail investors is blunt: is the BTC dip buy coming today, or is the math still broken?

The mechanics of the freeze are straightforward. SEC filings on Jun. 29, Jul. 6, Jul. 13 and Jul. 20 each recorded no Bitcoin buys made under its standing acquisition programs. The filings covering June 29, July 6, July 13, and July 20 contained the same answer: nothing.
What makes the silence louder is the contrast with Saylor's behavior on X. He posted Strategy's color-coded Bitcoin accumulation chart on Sunday, July 27, under the caption "We're gonna need another color", a reference to how new purchase tranches get ******* igned a distinct color bubble on the chart.

SATO (TSXV: SATO) signed a letter of intent with Bhutan's Gelephu Mindfulness City Authority for a hydro-powered AI data center campus in the kingdom's southern special administrative region, according to a company release. Under the June 20 LOI, 100 MW of firm power is reserved for the project, with an initial 5 MW development phase and a pathway to expand to 500 MW.
The company said the campus would serve AI compute demand originating in India and South Asia. SATO framed the site's location directly across the Bhutan-India border as a low-latency advantage, noting that Indian data center expansion faces power availability constraints and multi-year grid timelines.
The LOI sets out a structure for definitive agreements on power, site development, project structure, financing and commercial offtake. SATO said the parties expect to finalize those agreements within 12 months. The transaction's completion still hinges on financing, board approval, due diligence and the signing of binding contracts.

"This project is the product of a deliberate effort to find the next jurisdiction where clean, sovereign power and serious AI ambition meet," said Mathieu Nouzareth, co-founder and director of SATO, the project's originator and lead. "Bhutan offers a rare combination of hydroelectric resources and forward-looking governance."

We are only three weeks away from the start of the Baltimore Ravens training camp. So football talking season (the prelude to football season) is now here. And it is always mock draft season. That's a year-round thing.
For this mock draft, we will only project the picks that are definitive at this time. We're only doing the six selections that we know Baltimore will definitely have. According to the league's website, they are likely to be awarded three more compensatory picks: two selections in round five and one in round six.
After the additional selections are made official, we will be back with a Ravens mock draft that includes them.
Round 1: Kade Pieper, C, Iowa
Perhaps the team's biggest question mark, heading into this season, is center. We just don't really know who is going to replace Tyler Linderbaum. The Ravens could go back to the same well (the University of Iowa) where they got Linderbaum, because, coincidentally, it is Pieper who is the highest-rated prospect at the position.

NFL training camp is right around the corner, meaning that the 2026 offseason is nearing its end. As we all look forward to the upcoming regular season, it can also be a fun exercise to reflect on how the offseason went for each team.
That can be a significantly less fun exercise for some teams than it can for others, though. While there were a few rosters around the NFL that took major jumps in 2026, there were others that look weaker on paper than they were going into free agency.
This list is no guarantee that a listed team will regress heading into the new season. However, let’s take a look at six NFL teams that lost more talent than they gained in the 2026 offseason.
When your general manager admits early into free agency that they’re prioritizing the compensatory pick formula over spending, that’s generally a sign that your team is going to do much damage on the open market. That’s the case with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who were pretty quiet during the height of free agency.
The Jaguars were extremely quiet in free agency, letting the likes of Travis Etienne, Devin Lloyd, and Greg Newsome all walk. Though Newsome’s departure shouldn’t be a big issue given their strong cornerback room, Jacksonville now has big holes at running back and linebacker that they didn’t spend big money on, nor did they address in the 2026 NFL Draft.

NEW YORK (AP) — Kiki Iriafen scored 20 points, including a go-ahead layup with 27 seconds left to give the Washington Mystics an 86-83 win over New York on Friday night, snapping the Liberty's eight-game winning streak.
With the game tied at 83, Iriafen was found under the basket by Sonia Citron for a lay-in. Breanna Stewart tried to even the score but missed a contested layup with 14 seconds left. Iriafen then hit oen of two free throws two seconds later.
New York (11-5) had two chances to tie the game, but Sabrina Ionescu and Satou Sabally's 3-pointers were both off the mark.
Iriafen had missed the last three games while dealing with an ankle injury she suffered against Indiana on June 8.

According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, there appears to be an expectation of a bidding war for his services, with the Chicago Cubs, Toronto Blue Jays, and Atlanta Braves recently mentioned as options.
“Teams are thrilled that Peralta has gotten off to a middling start with the Mets. Unless New York goes on a run, it has to trade the 30-year-old. Why? Because of the Mets' spending over the luxury tax, the best compensatory draft pick they can reap for him comes after the fourth round. Even with his strikeout rate dipping below one per inning, Peralta is still plenty capable of throwing seven shutout innings in a postseason game -- and that makes him worth a much better prospect than what New York could get with a fourth-rounder.
“Even better: Peralta is making $8 million this season, an awfully attractive figure for low-payroll teams,” Passan wrote.

Jimmie Allen has been ordered to pay $1.8 million (£1.36 million) to a woman who sued him over accusations that he ****** ually ****** aulted and secretly filmed her in a Las Vegas hotel room.
Judge Aleta A Trauger ruled on Thursday 18 June that the country star be held liable by default for ****** ault and invasion of privacy in August after he ignored multiple court deadlines.
In a court order, the Big Shot singer was told to pay the accuser $597,000 (£452,000) in compensatory damages and another $1.2 million (£910,000) in punitive damages.
"The evidence shows that Mr Allen intentionally and surreptitiously filmed his ****** ual encounter with plaintiff without her consent," the court report reads. "These intentional acts caused plaintiff to suffer extreme emotional distress and trauma."
In a statement to Billboard, a lawyer for the plaintiff, known as Jane Doe 2, said the sum "recognises the profound trauma Allen inflicted on Jane Doe 2 for his own ****** ual gratification" and "underscores a fundamental principle at the heart of this case: it is never acceptable to record ****** ual activity without a partner's consent".
Thursday's ruling came in one of two civil ****** ual ****** ault lawsuits brought against Allen in 2023, derailing the singer's promising career after a run of No. 1 hits on Billboard's Country Airplay chart.

MOSCOW, June 18 (Reuters) - The head of Russia's state nuclear corporation Rosatom on Thursday ‌accused Ukraine of killing a key worker ‌in a drone attack near the Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in southeastern Ukraine.
There was no immediate response from Ukraine and Reuters could not independently verify the statement.
Russia took control of the plant, ‌the largest nuclear power station in Europe, soon after its forces entered Ukraine in 2022 and both sides regularly accuse each other of endangering its safety with military action.
Alexei Likhachev, head of Rosatom, said in a statement that Ukrainian drones ‌had attacked the nearby city of Enerhodar on Wednesday, where most of the station's employees live.
He said one power plant employee working at a repair workshop had been killed and that ‌doctors were fighting for the life of a second employee injured in the same attack.
