The Braves DFA'd Hayden Harris Wednesday to make ***** e on the 40-man roster to bring up repeat DFA victim Eliesar Hernandez. Harris was once viewed as an extremely promising bullpen prospect for Atlanta, with outrageous strikeout rates in the minors due to a unique fastball shape. He had a rough couple of innings in the majors in 2025 and really lost his command in 2026 in the minors. It's a ***** mer for those of us hoping for an electric homegrown bullpen arm from Harris, but perhaps not the end of the road for him.
Ronald Acuna made power-speed history Wednesday, reaching 200 home runs and stolen bases in the fewest games in baseball history.
Blake Burkhalter was optioned back to AAA, while Hayden Harris was DFA'd to make ***** e for Eliesar Hernandez.
The Braves beat the Nationals in dominant fashion, behind power from the offense and great pitching.
The Rays' new owner says he expects the team to be able to reach an above-average payroll with their new ballpark.

Riverwater Partners, an investment management company, released its 'Small Cap Strategy' Q2 2026 investor letter. The letter can be downloaded here. The Small Cap Strategy underperformed the Russell 2000 in the second quarter as the benchmark experienced one of its strongest risk-on rallies in recent memory, although the strategy remained ahead year-to-date. The quarter was defined by accelerating AI investment, energy market disruptions, and renewed investor appetite for higher-beta stocks, creating headwinds for the firm's quality-focused approach and healthcare positioning. Despite this, stock selection contributed positively in energy, materials, and financials, while healthcare and consumer discretionary detracted due to the fund's disciplined avoidance of speculative businesses. Looking ahead, the firm remains cautiously optimistic, focusing on opportunities created by market dislocations, including AI infrastructure enablers, select consumer companies, healthcare innovators, and energy businesses trading below intrinsic value. The strategy continues to emphasize high-quality companies with strong management teams and attractive valuations, positioning the portfolio for a potential rotation away from speculative market leadership. In addition, please check the Strategy's top five holdings to know its best picks in 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Riverwater Partners Small Cap Strategy highlighted StoneX Group Inc. (NASDAQ:SNEX) as a notable contributor. StoneX Group Inc. (NASDAQ:SNEX) operates as a US-based global financial services network that connects companies, organizations, traders, and investors to a market ecosystem. On August 31, 2026, StoneX Group Inc. (NASDAQ:SNEX) closed at $68.48 per share. StoneX Group Inc. (NASDAQ:SNEX) fell 8.97% over the past month while its shares gained 50.63% over the past 52 weeks. StoneX Group Inc. (NASDAQ:SNEX) has a market capitalization of $8.26 billion with a 52-week trading range between $36.45 - $94.66.
Riverwater Partners Small Cap Strategy stated the following regarding StoneX Group Inc. (NASDAQ:SNEX) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"StoneX Group Inc. (NASDAQ:SNEX), our financial services and clearing holding, was the portfolio's largest contributor as shares gained approximately 47% during the quarter. Elevated market volatility stemming from the Middle East conflict drove exceptional trading and clearing activity, and the stock ground steadily higher after quarterly earnings results. With shares having roughly doubled from their lows and valuation approaching the high end of historical ranges, we trimmed the position into strength while keeping it among our largest holdings. We continue to view it as an unusually durable compounder across market environments."

"Atmus Filtration Technologies Inc. (NYSE:ATMU), the engine filtration business spun out of ******* mins (CMI), fell approximately 10% as readthroughs from the freight market turned mixed, with softer commentary on new truck builds and some margin pressure weighing on sentiment. French gases group Air Liquide is getting the activist-investor treatment.
Elliott reportedly built a stake and wants the firm to sharpen margins. Investors liked the idea, sending the shares higher as the market started pricing in a little less patience and a little more pressure.
Elliott's been engaging with the company for months, though the the size of the stake is not known. The message, however, is clear: improve margins and compete harder with the sector's best operators.
Air Liquide is not exactly a wounded minnow. The Paris-based group is worth about €108 billion (about $125 billion) and supplies gases including oxygen, nitrogen and hydrogen to factories, hospitals, semiconductor plants and energy customers. It is one of Europe's major industrial champions. But activists don't usually arrive because everything looks perfect.

Mumbai/New Delhi: The future of Rohit Sharma and the shape of India's ODI team for the next World Cup cycle are set to dominate discussions when the BCCI's top brass meets in Mumbai on Thursday for a wide-ranging performance review.

While recent defeats in Ireland, England and Sri Lanka will be ***** sed, board officials are understood to be more concerned about the lack of a clearly defined ODI roadmap at a time when preparations for the 2027 World Cup should be taking shape.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, president Mithun Manhas, head coach Gautam Gambhir, chief selector Ajit Agarkar and Centre of Excellence chief VVS Laxman will attend the meeting, with ODI and Test captain Shubman Gill and T20I skipper Shreyas Iyer also expected to be present.

At the centre of the discussions lies the most sensitive issue facing Indian cricket: Rohit's future. Though there is immense respect for the veteran opener's stature and achievements, selectors and members of the team management are increasingly aware of the need to prepare for a post-Rohit era.

According to sources, one option under consideration is to evaluate Rohit's role on a series-by-series basis rather than committing to a long-term plan through the entire World Cup cycle.

"It's very tough on a young captain like Shubman Gill when there is no clear direction. The dressing-room environment in the ODI team hasn't been the best, especially when it comes to dealing with stalwarts," a BCCI source said.

The uncertainty around Rohit reflects a broader concern. Of India's three national teams, the ODI side is regarded as the least settled. Injuries and workload management have prevented selectors from identifying a stable core, leaving several key positions unresolved.

The fast-bowling allrounder's role remains a particular headache. Hardik Pandya continues on a managed workload programme after recurring fitness issues, while Nitish ***** ar Reddy is yet to receive full clearance following rehabilitation.

"Hardik, at the moment, has been cleared to bowl six overs in a day. Reddy is still to clear his fitness tests. The ODI team doesn't have even half of the core ODI team ready. It has to be a joint effort between the CoE and the team management to zero in on players and formulate a roadmap to get them all on the park as soon as possible," the source said.

The review was initially planned after the Ireland and England tours but was postponed because of the subsequent Sri Lanka ***** ignment. It will now cover India's performances across multiple tours, including Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka.

India's 2-0 T20I series defeat in Ireland and the 4-0 drubbing in England raised alarm bells, with the 125-run loss at Nottingham viewed internally as one of the team's poorest performances in recent years. Gill's ODI side also lost the England series 2-1.

However, officials insist the exercise will focus on solutions rather than ***** igning blame, with particular emphasis on recurri

You can find wisdom in the most unexpected places. Even watching Michael Scott attempt to run a successful sales team on The Office offers a valuable lesson IDP managers can appreciate. Every offseason, we are searching for trends, evaluating production and asking the same question:
"Who is actually good, and who just looks busy?"
It is a fair question, and one that applies perfectly to IDP fantasy football. The 2025 fantasy football season provided plenty of valuable lessons for defensive player managers. While raw fantasy points tell us who finished as a top producer, the underlying numbers often explain why those players succeeded and which trends could shape future seasons.
From the decline of every-down linebackers to the continued importance of green-dot defenders and tackle efficiency, several themes stood out throughout the year leading up to this offseason and Real IDP Hunter has you covered.
Here are some things that stood out in the 2025 season that should translate into this season.

San Francisco sports fans will luckily not have to rely on their Netflix subscription to see yet another local team's opener this year.
The NFL has advertised its 49ers-Rams game in Melbourne next week, the league's first game in Australia ever, as something you can only watch on Netflix. While that might be true for the majority of the country, local Niners fans will have a free alternative in NBC Bay Area.
"NBC Bay Area will televise Netflix's presentation of 49ers-Rams locally in the Bay Area, with coverage beginning at 4:30 p.m. PT with an NBC Bay Area special anchored in studio by Janelle ******* and Raj Mathai, with live reports from Australia from Anthony Flores," a news release from NBC Universal reads.
This is a result of the league's simulcast rules, which contractually require the league to show a local market's team for free, even if the game is on an exclusive streaming service. This applies to Monday Night Football, Thursday Night Football and now the International Game.
It's a policy that the league is quite proud of. In a news release announcing media distribution agreements through 2033, there's a line that reads "The NFL continues to be the only sports league that delivers all of its games - regular-season and playoffs - on free, over-the-air television."

The stock sold off following the launch of oral GLP-1s, which many believe will end the need for injectable forms. Experts believe an expanding GLP-1 TAM, coupled with varying use cases, will necessitate ongoing need for injectable forms. Indeed, 25% of drugs approved in 2025 were biologics which will require injectable devices.

"We initiated a position in NetScout Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:NTCT) in April. Founded in 1984, NetScout Systems, Inc. (NTCT), with a stated mission of "Guardians of A Connected World," has been a technology innovator providing service ****** urance and cybersecurity solutions based on its pioneering deep packet inspection technology at scale. While high-growth competitors trade at significant premiums, NetScout offers a more attractive valuation for what we view as a durable software business with deeply embedded customer relationships among the Fortune 500. Its deep packet inspection technology is increasingly critical as enterprises navigate complex digital transformations, cloud migrations, and a heightened threat landscape. We view NTCT as a disciplined way to gain exposure to secular technology tail

Riverwater Partners Small Cap Strategy stated the following regarding Kaiser Aluminum Corporation (NASDAQ:KALU) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"We also purchased Kaiser Aluminum Corporation (NASDAQ:KALU) as roughly two and a half million tons of global aluminum capacity remains offline following the Middle East smelter disruptions, a supply shock we believe supports elevated pricing for well-positioned domestic producers through at least 2027. Also, continued tariffs on aluminum and alumina products will help pricing stay elevated, even if Middle East capacity comes on faster than expected."

Following the passing of its legendary founder, Dollywood has revealed its plans for a permanent memorial to honor Dolly Parton,
Eugene Naughton, Dollywood Parks & Resorts President, shared the details in a press release on September 2.
"Many of us had extensive conversations with Dolly through the years about how she would want us to carry her vision forward," explained Naughton. "Dollywood will always be a place where families find fun, kindness, and joy — a place where they can make memories that last a lifetime, just like she would have wanted. We will carry her dreams forward by continuing to grow, welcoming even more guests, and sharing the warmth and hospitality of which she was so proud."
Additionally, Dollywood will construct new "experiences and installations that honor [Parton's] remarkable contributions, enduring values, and love for the people and places of the Great Smoky Mountains." The vision is to give guests "meaningful opportunities to reflect on Dolly's life, her faith, and her influence while experiencing the joy, imagination, and togetherness that have always been at the heart of her vision for Dollywood."
The Sevierville Chamber of Commerce is launching "In Dolly's Footsteps," a walking tour in Tennessee featuring historic markers at places Dolly Parton and her family frequented during her childhood.

As Houston Texans receiver Tank Dell continues to work to return from a devastating injury that sidelined him nearly two years ago, what's missing in his recovery, according to Nick Caserio, is the top-end speed that made him such an effective weapon his first two seasons in the league.
Dell was one of the many topics covered by the Texans general manager in his 45-minute appearance Wednesday morning on 95.7 The Fan's "Payne & Pendergast."
Dell, who tore his ACL, MCL, LCL and other ligaments during a game at Kansas City in December 2024, returned for training camp last month, but will open the season on injured reserve, meaning he isn't eligible to return until Week 5 at the earliest.
Caserio said the 5-foot-9, 165-pound receiver has had some "minor setbacks, nothing significant" during his recovery, but was more specific about the man who ran a 4.49 40-yard dash at the combine hoping to return to the speed that made him so successful.
"We all saw what Tank did his first two years in the league and he made a lot of electric plays. Whether or not he can get to that same level of performance, we'll find out," Caserio said. "But overall, he's definitely making progress. I'd say it's more minor tweaks than anything else and I think he'll be able to build his capacity and maybe some of his high-speed, long-distance running and then see if we can get him to 20-21 mph and the running speeds he was running before the injury."

NFL players diagnosed with advanced CTE after death who also demonstrated cognitive impairment in testing during their life still did not meet the requirements for financial compensation under the NFL Concussion Settlement, according to a Boston University study published Wednesday.
Researchers examined 33 NFL players diagnosed with CTE after an autopsy who had completed the baseline ****** sment program (BAP) stipulated by the 2014 settlement – that ended a years-long class-action lawsuit – in what researchers called the largest study to date linking cognitive testing performance during life with CTE confirmed posthumously.
The results, published in JAMA Network Open, found that seven participants had advanced (Stage 3 or 4) CTE. Six of those seven showed measurable cognitive impairment on testing, yet all seven received the lowest impairment rating (Level 0) on the BAP's system, according to documentation provided to researchers by players' families.
"The BAP's diagnostic criteria might miss cases of cognitive impairment that are objectively measurable and ****** ociated with confirmed CTE pathology," Michael Alosco, PhD, co-director of clinical research at the BU CTE Center said in a statement. "This has important implications for former players seeking diagnosis and potential compensation through the NFL Concussion Settlement."
The participants' average age at the time of testing was 63, and their average age of death was 65. The most-common problem was memory, particularly short-term, with 63% of the participants affected. Executive function (52%) and language (41%) were other common impairments.

Sep. 2—EAST GRAND FORKS — Emma Pieper will enter her junior season at East Grand Forks Senior High with her college decision already made.
The 5-foot-5 Green Wave goaltender committed to Bemidji State over the weekend.
"It's like a relief off my shoulders," Pieper said. "It normally takes longer for goalies, so it was really nice to get all of that done before my junior year so there's no stress the rest of the year."
Four colleges reached out to Pieper, but the campus and coaching staff made the Beavers stand out.
"Their campus is super pretty," Pieper said. "It's on the lake, it's smaller. And their culture is really good, they're all close together. I really like how their coaching staff just meshes together, and they're always upfront with communication."

The Golden State Warriors' reported pursuit of Jaren Jackson Jr. before last season's trade deadline just shows how aggressive, or, to be kind of unfair, how increasingly desperate the team has been trying to build one more contender around Stephen Curry.
According to ESPN's Anthony Slater, the Warriors did try to look at a potential Jaren Jackson Jr. move before the Memphis Grizzlies eventually traded him to the Utah Jazz.
On paper, the interest did make sense. Jackson is a former Defensive Player of the Year, two-time All-Star, and still only 26 years old.
But his four-year, $204 million extension was yet to kick in, and that is a massive financial commitment, especially for a player who is not seen as a top-25 player in this league.
That is why this makes Golden State's interest so revealing.

Reddit (NYSE: RDDT)'s data licensing deals with Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL)'s Google and OpenAI are set to expire next year, and Wall Street simply can't decide whether these deals are a windfall or a warning sign.
On September 2, Baird ***** yst Colin Sebastian reiterated a Neutral rating and $185.00 price target on the stock. The note implies the next big test for Reddit: deciding whether its massive archive of human conversations are still of use to artificial intelligence companies.
According to the firm's ***** sment, the current share price reflects an outcome near the firm's low-end case scenario.
Reddit made a 2024 Google deal that lets Google use its posts to train and power its AI models. Reportedly worth $60 million a year, the deal is set to expire after which Reddit may reportedly choose to block Google's AI from using its content. A similar deal between Reddit and OpenAI estimated around $70 million is also set to expire soon.
Some other publishers such as USA Today, Reuters, Politico are also re-evaluating whether to let Google crawl their pages as AI summaries reduce referral traffic.

Brookfield and Bloom Energy have dramatically enlarged their wager on data-center electricity. On June 30, Brookfield **** et Management Ltd. (NYSE:BAM) and Bloom Energy Corporation (NYSE:BE) expanded an AI infrastructure framework from $5 billion to as much as $25 billion. Brookfield can finance eligible deployments through its investment vehicles, while Bloom can supply fuel-cell systems that generate power near the customer. The arrangement attacks a genuine bottleneck, but its impressive ceiling is not the same thing as committed revenue.
A Bloom Energy power generation system. Photo from Bloom Energy website
Bloom Energy Corporation (NYSE:BE) offers speed. Its systems can be installed on-site, reducing dependence on slow transmission projects and helping data centers obtain reliable power sooner. If AI demand keeps outrunning the grid, the company can turn its manufacturing platform into a central infrastructure solution. The bear case is execution at unprecedented scale. Equipment costs, fuel availability, service obligations, and project-specific economics will determine whether deployments create durable margins rather than merely large order headlines.
Brookfield **** et Management Ltd. (NYSE:BAM) brings capital formation and **** et expertise. It can choose projects, structure financing, and earn fees without manufacturing the equipment itself. A $25 billion framework expands the universe of potential **** ets and gives Brookfield access to long-lived infrastructure demand. However, capital is deployed only when projects meet contracts and underwriting criteria. Brookfield still bears financing, construction, counterparty, and **** et-performance risks through participating vehicles.
The partnership works because each side absorbs a different part of the problem. Bloom supplies technology and accepts manufacturing and performance risk. Brookfield organizes capital and accepts underwriting risk. Customers must still sign viable contracts. Investors should therefore resist adding the framework ceiling to either company's backlog. The opportunity becomes valuable one approved project at a time, with disciplined underwriting and execution.

Sept 2 (Reuters) - Everyone knows Wall Street calls a 20% drop in a major index a bear market. But what do you call it when the index posts big gains and losses practically every day and is still way up ‌for the year?
That question is testing the limits of the market's most familiar vocabulary and prompting some to question whether a term like bear market ‌really applies when tech indexes are red hot and constantly gyrating.
"It's kind of lazy nomenclature to be using on things that are that volatile," said Art Hogan, chief market strategist at B. Riley Wealth.
The Philadelphia SE Semiconductor Index, a benchmark for chip stocks, and South Korea's tech-heavy KOSPI both entered bear markets in July, based on the traditional measure. But even at their troughs, the indexes were still up 46% and 25%, respectively, for the year, thanks to triple-digit percentage gains over the past year.

As Big Tech continues to spend aggressively on artificial intelligence, one Wall Street firm believes there is a clear winner when it comes to return on invested capital (ROIC). On August 31, Piper Sandler reiterated an Overweight rating on Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) with a $320.00 price target.
According to the firm, AMZN's return on invested capital is holding up far better than giants Meta Platforms, Inc. (NASDAQ: META) and Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL). Interestingly, the firm projects this ROIC figure to fall from about 17% in 2018-2025 to about 14% in 2026.
Piper's note states the obvious: Amazon spending is more focused on AWS. Revenue for AWS jumped 37% year-over-year to $42.2 billion in Q2, the fastest growth it has had in four years. Meanwhile, AWS contract backlogs at the end of the quarter stood at $496 billion, up from $364 billion in the prior three-month period.
The bull case for Amazon lies in its ROIC, the figure Piper sees deteriorating the least amongst Meta, Alphabet, and Amazon. The note affirms that Amazon is the best-positioned amongst the three, and that its ROIC is the most consistent.
The company-specific ROIC trends generally match management commentary on ROIC, the note stated.
