The UFC Freedom 250 event on the White House's South Lawn, a celebration of the U.S.'s 250th birthday and Donald Trump's 80th on June 14, was well-received by fans, despite some of the lewd comments made by fighter Josh Hokit about former First Lady Michelle Obama, which UFC President Dana White himself even called "disgusting."
Even with Hokit's transgression, the atmosphere was undeniable, with podcaster Joe Rogan, who commentated the event, saying, "That was the wildest experience that I've ever had in my 20-whatever years of calling combat sports. There's nothing even close."
White said that Paramount CEO David Ellison was thirlled with the event's impact on the Paramount+ streaming service.
"In every way you can measure success, … it was monstrous tonight. You don't get calls from billionaires flipping out too often," he said of speaking with Ellison.
Still, for all its successes, White insisted in the event's aftermath that the event was a one-time affair.

Paul recently attracted Hokit's attention by challenging NFLplayers. The YouTuber-turned-boxer believes no NFL player canoutbox him in the squared circle. However, he's confident he cancatch a touchdown pass without any training.
"The Problem Child" even offered $1 million to any NFL player whocan box him better than he can run routes against them.

"Will pay any NFL player $1 million dollars if you can box mebetter than I run routes against you Internet is judge. Will sendmy jet to pick you up who's down?" Paul wrote on X.

"Not a single NFL player could last 2 rounds in a professionalboxing ring," he wrote in another post. "Meanwhile I can catch atouchdown pass tomorrow in the NFL with 0 training."

Former football player Hokit didn't let Paul's comments pass. "TheIncredible Hok" is confident that he can beat Paul not only inboxing but in any sport in the world.

"With all due respect, [Jake Paul] Not only could I beat you in aboxing match, I'd beat you in any sport under the sun," Hokitposted in response.

Paul believes Hokit is just trying to chase clout and is open toboxing the Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight in Puerto Rico.

"I see your hustle. You do your best to sell," Paul responded. "Ifyou want to fly down to Puerto Rico and box - anytime I will gladlyembarrass you."

Hokit (10-0) originally looked to make a career in the NFL.However, he went unpicked in the 2020 NFL draft before being signedby the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent. Hokit's NFLcareer never took off and he transitioned to MMA soon after. He hasfour UFC wins with three knockouts and three bonuses. Theundefeated heavyweight has also quickly grown in popularity withhis polarizing comments and antics.

Ryan Clark was recently fired from ESPN.
The former NFL safety, who won a Super Bowl with the Pittsburgh Steelers back in 2009, also captured a Sports Emmy for Outstanding Personality/Studio **** yst at the 44th Annual Sports Emmy Awards back in May 2023. But UFC fans probably know him best for his now-canceled ESPN show with former two-division MMA champion Daniel Cormier.
Clark is one of several high-profile layoffs by the network this week.

Luke Riley is leaving UFC 329 with a knockout victory on his record, but his fellow fighters aren’t in agreement with the stoppage call.
Referee Kerry Hatley stepped in for the save to close out Riley’s featherweight fight against Kai Kamaka III on Saturday’s preliminary card, stopping the fight 3:03 into Round 1 with Riley battering a retreating Kamaka. Though Kamaka was visibly dazed, he appeared to be trying to clinch Riley when the bout was waved off, which drew a number of negative reactions from pros on social media.
Fellow featherweight Billy Quarantillo said, plainly, “That stoppage sucked.” UFC fighters Josh Hokit, Jamahal Hill, and Matt Frevola also wondered why Hatley didn’t give Kamaka more time to recover.
It was a big win for Riley, who improved to 14-0 as a pro and 3-0 in the UFC with the win, while Kamaka will be left disappointed as he falls to 1-1 in his second stint with the promotion.

Valter Walker has Rousimar Palhares-esque plans for Josh Hokit.

Hokit’s rapid rise to stardom in the Ultimate Fighting Championship has been fueled by his brazen trash talk that has fans divided. Walker recently noted that the American heavyweight had insulted his home country of Brazil ahead of his Dana White’s Contender Series fight against Guilherme Uriel last year.
Walker believes he will eventually cross paths with Hokit inside the Octagon. Known for his heel hook submissions, the Brazilian is confident that he will catch “The Incredible Hok” with one.

Furthermore, he claims he doesn’t want to let go even if Hokit taps. Walker wants to send the American to surgery for a broken foot. However, he might have to reconsider if doesn’t want to get banned forever like Palhares, who was notorious for holding on to leglocks far too long.

Walker told Home of Fight: “This guy is no problem for me. This guy, Josh Hokit, I can break his leg. But please, when he taps, I don’t gonna let him go. I’m going to send him to surgery, brother. If I take his leg and he taps, I don’t gonna let him go. He talked **** about my country. He talked **** about Brazilian people. Before, when my leg was broken, he called my name on the microphone. But step by step, one day, we are gonna meet in the Octagon. This is all what matters. One day, his foot is gonna be mine.”

Hokit (10-0) has defeated Curtis Blaydes and Derrick Lewis in his last two bouts to make his way into the top tier of the division. Meanwhile, Walker (15-1) has finished all four of his UFC wins via heel hooks since suffering his lone professional loss in his UFC debut in 2024.

Walker is now scheduled to fight Thomas Petersen (11-4) at UFC Abu Dhabi on July 25 at Etihad Arena.

Josh Hokit has a plan to make Heavyweight great again.
“The Incredible Hok” may be a controversial figure, but it’s hard to argue that he’s a welcome presence in the division’s largely stagnate **** le mix. In less than a year on the UFC roster, Hokit has built up a 4-0 record in the promotion, beating a pair of Top 10 opponents in the last three months alone. UFC fighter Josh Hokit doubled down on his description of former first lady Michelle Obama, claiming he meant no ill will when he called her “a man” after winning his bout at the UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House.
“I thought I was giving her a compliment,” he said on "The Ariel Helwani Show," prompting the host to inform him that no one received the remark that way.
“Michelle Obama being a man,” Hokit continued. “It’s like, she knows how to deal with adversity. She knows how to work hard like a man when the times get tough.”
He added: “I thought it was a perfect opportunity to show the world how great this country is with freedom of speech.”

Dana White has always been “cool” with gay fighters who compete in UFC.
That said, don’t expect the promotion to host any “Pride Night” events, like the one that caused an avalanche of controversy for baseball’s San Francisco Giants.
White prefers to stay in his own lane and let everyone do their own thing.
“I’m staring at my roster of Top 15 fighters, I’m ***** uming we have some gay fighters,” White told Tomi Lahren. “I don’t know how many of them are openly. I know that we have gay female fighters. I don’t give a ***** . I don’t care what you are or who you are or what you do, we don’t talk about that or any of that stuff. We have a T-shirt that says ‘We Are All Fighters,’ and it’s got the gay flag colors on it, but I don’t know, everybody do your own thing. I’m just not into it. I’m in the fight business, so it’s a little different than baseball is like America’s game. I stay in my lane, whatever all these other guys are doing, good luck to you. I do my own thing.”
White also used the interview to reiterate his disgust for the public personas of Josh Hokit and Sean Strickland, who make it a habit of using White’s “free speech” policy to make spectacles of themselves. I guess White doesn’t remember the time he said Cris Cyborg looked like Wanderlei Silva in a dress.

Dean has recently faced backlash for his officiating in AlexPereira's loss against Gane at UFC White House. Gane finished Pereira in the second round towin the interim heavyweight ****** le earlier this month. Gane has previously been accusedof using illegal shots when his ****** le challenge against TomAspinall ended in a no-contest due to a double eye poke by theFrenchman.

Trump sat cageside with UFC chief Dana White, a good friend of his, as the night ended with Justin Gaethje securing an upset stoppage win over Ilia Topuria to become lightweight champion. In the co-main event, Ciryl Gane stopped Alex Pereira to win the interim heavyweight ******* le.
In fact, all seven bouts ended with stoppages, as American star Sean O'Malley joined compatriots Josh Hokit and Bo Nickal in picking up victories – although Hokit and Nickal's wins came at the expense of other US fighters.
Regardless, the event was a resounding success for Paramount+, which was the exclusive broadcaster of the fights in the US and Latin America.

After the event, White quickly condemned Hokit’s act of bigotry in a text to TIME’s Sean Gregory, saying he’s against anyone saying “nasty and false things about people’s families.” But Trump and the White House have remained silent on the offensive remark.

After praising the New York Knicks as “America’s Team,” ESPN’s Jay Williams basically dubbed UFC Freedom 250 America’s sporting event.
Despite threats of severe heat and looming thunderstorms, UFC Freedom 250 on the South Lawn of the White House, featuring seven fights, has widely been considered a successful event. But Monday morning on First Take, Jay Williams took it a step further by claiming it was better than the NBA Finals.
“I was there, 4,000-seat arena. I gotta be honest, coming off the NBA Finals where I was at multiple NBA Finals (games), better event than the NBA Finals,” Williams told Stephen A. Smith. “It was a better event than the NBA Finals. With the White House literally being right there, incredible.”
UFC Freedom 250 received backlash leading up to the event, with critics considering it less about sports and more about propaganda. UFC Freedom 250 went down in the history books last night (Sat., June 14, 2026) in what was truly one-of-a kind event that saw all seven fights end via knockout. In the main event of the evening, Justin Gaethje became the undisputed Lightweight champion of the world after he absolutely brutalized Ilia Topuria to the point to where “El Matador” could not answer the call to come out for the fifth and final round (highlights). In the co-headlining act, Ciryl Gane once again captured UFC gold by knocking out Alex Pereira (video), while Sean O’Malley stopped Aiemann Zahabi in round two (see it here).
It’s about time UFC stops playing with Tsarukyan and give him his long over due shot at the **** le. He is currently ranked No. 2 and while he has been meaty taking on side quests in RAF, he should be ready to get back to his true calling inside the Octagon. This is another fight that has fireworks written all over it. Tsarukyan is on a five-fight win streak and was last seen submitting Dan Hooker in Nov. 2025.
After Gane stunned Pereira in round two with his heavy bombs, the hulking Frenchman can now look ahead to trying to settle some unfinished business with the current champion, Aspinall, in a rematch. The two men initially threw down at UFC 321 in Oct. 2025, which saw the fight end in anti-climactic fashion in the very first round after Aspinall was on the wrong end of an inadvertent eye poke, resulting in a no contest (NC). Since then, however, all we have been seeing is how slow the champ’s recovery has been, so there is no telling when that fight will happen…if ever.
After O’Malley took care of Zahabi last night, he called for a **** le fight against current Houston champion, Petr Yan. The two men initially fought way back at UFC 280, which saw “Suga” walk away with a split-decision win. Since then, however, Yan has become champion once again, winning the undisputed **** le more recently at UFC 323 by defeating Merab Dvalishvili. There have been talks about a potential rematch between the two, but nothing has yet become official. If and when it does, then I can see O’Malley waiting to face the winner, as he should.
Hokit secured his fourth straight win inside the Octagon in just seven months by stopping Derrick Lewis in round number two (see it here). Currently ranked No. 5, he could be moving up a spot or two following his latest win. Up next, a fight against Pavlovich could be in order, which would undoubtedly be his biggest test so far inside the Octagon. Pavlovich is currently ranked No. 3 in the division and is coming off an easy night of work, disposing of Tallison Teixeira in 39 seconds just last month (see it here). The winner of this fight could put himself in great position for a **** le eliminator fight, possibly against Alexander Volkov.

Sunday also happened to be the 80th birthday of Trump, White’s longtime friend.

Fighter Jos Hokit made a crude remark about former First Lady Michelle Obama while being interviewed after winning his bout during the controversial UFC Freedom 250 event held on the White House lawn on Sunday night, which saw several high-profile attendees, including celebrities, athletes, billionaires and political leaders.

The show began after a short weather delay and saw seven bouts on the card and ended with American fighter Justin Gaethje pulling off an upset win in the main event against Georgian Ilia Topuria to claim the Lightweight Championship.
One of the most controversial events took place after a mid-card fight, when Jos Hokit was interviewed in the octagon by UFC commentator and podcaster Joe Rogan following his win over Derrick Lewis.
Hokit ended the interview by blurting out a right-wing conspiracy theory, “Michelle Obama is a man. Am I right, America?”

But it was his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan that will go down in infamy as he addressed US president Donald Trump from the cage, who was sitting in the front row.

In the co-main event two-division UFC champion Alex Pereira (13-3) makes his heavyweight debut against Ciryl Gane (13-2), in a clash for the interim UFC heavyweight **** le. “Poatan” aims to become the first fighter in UFC history to win a **** le in three weight classes.
Fan favorites Diego Lopes, Josh Hokit, and former 135-pound kingpin Sean O’Malley are also set to make their return on the card.

The red-hot Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight prospect-turned contender continued his destructive run through the division tonight, stopping Derrick Lewis in the second round at UFC Freedom 250 live on Paramount+ on the South Lawn in Washington, D.C., as UFC celebrated America’s 250th anniversary.
Hokit showed patience in the opening minutes, staying on the outside and chopping at “The Black Beast” with kicks. Then, once he found his opening, “The Incredible Hok” landed a picture-perfect, double-leg takedown and planted Lewis on his back.
From there, Hokit controlled the rest of the round, landing ground-and-pound, while Lewis struggled to get back to his feet. Hokit even locked up an armbar in the final 15 seconds, but Lewis survived to the horn.
Unfortunately for Lewis, he didn’t have much left after that.
