U.S. stocks fell Tuesday as the 10-year Treasury yield climbed above 5% for the first time since 2007, with investors awaiting a Federal Reserve interest-rate decision expected Wednesday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped roughly 449 points, or 0.86%. The S&P 500 fell about 0.34% and the Nasdaq Composite declined 0.48%. The 10-year Treasury yield rose as high as 5.041% before pulling back to trade around 5.011%.
Oil prices extended gains after Saudi Arabia shut a key pipeline that bypasses the Strait of Hormuz. Brent crude futures for November delivery rose about 1.6% to trade above $107 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate futures climbed to above $103.
Fed funds futures point to roughly a 90% to 93% probability that the Fed raises its benchmark rate by a quarter percentage point on Wednesday, which would lift the upper bound of the target range to 4%, according to The Wall Street Journal. That probability was roughly 59% a week ago.
Christopher Hodge, chief economist for the U.S. at Natixis CIB Americas, said in a note that he expects Fed Chair Kevin Warsh to signal the rate move is not a commitment to further hikes. "We also think that he will emphasize that this decision was discrete and does not pre-commit the Fed to any actions in subsequent meetings, giving him and the Committee maximum flexibility to respond to shocks," Hodge said, according to CNBC.

The San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams met at Melbourne Cricket Ground at 8:35 p.m. PT on Thursday, and while Kyle Shanahan's team took an early 3-0 lead, they lost one of their rookies to injury.
Before the first quarter ended, The Athletic's Matt Barrows reported that wide receiver De'Zhaun Stribling was in the blue medical tent. Then, the team announced at the end of the quarter that the wideout is dealing with an ankle injury and is questionable to return.
Stribling was San Francisco's top selection in the 2026 NFL Draft, following a collegiate career split between Washington State, Oklahoma State and Ole Miss. He was a key piece of the offensive game plan during the preseason.
If the 23-year-old can't go, the 49ers will be left with Mike Evans, Deebo Samuel, Demarcus Robinson, Jacob Cowing and KhaDarel Hodge at wide receiver for the rest of the game.

The 49ers having only two running backs active suggests Deebo Samuel will play a pivotal role out of the backfield. Expect him to be an option still in the passing game, but it likely comes from the running back alignment. If anybody knows how to take on a heavier workload against the Rams, it's Deebo.
It's also a sign that the team is comfortable giving Kaelon black touches. Kyle Shanahan said this past offseason that he regrets not involving more running backs last season. It means you're taking Christian McCaffrey off the field, so it's understandable. Still, the goal is to keep McCaffrey fresh for the last stretch of the season.
With Watkins inactive, Mike Evans, De'Zhaun Stribling, Demarcus Robinson, Jacob Cowing, and KhaDarel Hodge are the wideouts. If Samuel's role is more underneath, we'll see whether that means Cowing has a role as the receiver who stretches the field for the offense.

Former Nottingham Forest midfielder Steve Hodge says Oliver Glasner's side "were the better team" against Liverpool and should have won the game.
Forest fans were dreaming of a third consecutive league win at Anfield when Morgan Gibbs-White gave them the lead from the spot, but Liverpool rallied again and Victor Munoz's late strike ensured the points were shared.
"We should have won [the match] with the chances we created, especially in the first half," said Hodge on BBC Radio Nottingham. "We were against a really lacklustre Liverpool team, who at times looked weak at the back and unsure of themselves.
"Forest have gone to Anfield and scored two goals and overall, were the better team. They had better team cohesion."

The man who pioneered wholesale change in sports media with the founding of ESPN has died.
Bill Rasmussen, the entrepreneur who conceived the 24-hour cable sports network ESPN, died on Tuesday at age 93, the network announced. Rasmussen, along with his son Scott, famously came up with the idea for ESPN while stuck in traffic traveling to the Jersey Shore. Now, nearly 50 years later, ESPN is a behemoth prepared to broadcast the first Super Bowl in the network's history next February.
"Bill was a remarkable man – a visionary and an innovator who conceived the idea of a network entirely devoted to sports," ESPN chairman Jimmy Pitaro said in a statement. "Quite simply, none of us would be here today if it wasn't for Bill's passion and all the hard work and entrepreneurial spirit he put into building ESPN in the late 1970s – key aspects of our company culture that still carry on to this day."
Rasmussen's time at ESPN was essential but short-lived. The network launched in 1979 on the back of emerging satellite technology and funding from Getty Oil. The early days of ESPN were programmed with the flagship SportsCenter news and highlights show surrounded by a hodgepodge of live sports rights. Securing early-round NCAA Tournament broadcasts in March of 1980 proved to be a springboard for the fledgling network, helping bring ESPN into the mainstream.
Rasmussen left ESPN in October 1980 just over a year after its formal launch. Despite his brief tenure, his impact on the sports media industry was profound.

For the first time in 61 years, UNC basketball will play West Virginia.
The Tar Heels and Mountaineers will play during the 2026-27 season on Nov. 27 as part of the second annual ******* Vitale Invitational, presented by Belk. The Charlotte Sports Foundation and ESPN will host the game at Spectrum Center, home of the NBA's Charlotte Hornets.
A tip time and ESPN network channel will be announced at a later date, UNC said in a school-issued release.

The San Francisco 49ers are signing KhaDarel Hodge, an undrafted free agent from the 2018 class. Hodge is another former Raheem Morris player. He spent the previous four seasons with the Atlanta Falcons. Hodge, 6'2″, 210 pounds, only registered three receptions in 2025 and seven in 2024. He had 14 catches in 2023 for 232 yards, and 13 for 202 in 2022.
Dodge lined up primarily on the outside with the Falcons. While he's likely nothing more than a camp body, that nugget is important as it would allow De'Zhaun Stribling, or maybe Deebo Samuel, or whichever player they want to focus on getting more slot reps.
It's going to be a critical couple of weeks for players like Jacob Cowing and Junior Bergen. Both are fighting for that final roster spot at wideout. They'll need to show they can win inside and outside. It shouldn't be ruled out that if both excel, Christian Kirk might be the odd man out, even if it's because of an injury. It also helps, in Cowing's case, that he has the upper hand at punt returner — for now, at least.
Demarcus Robinson has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of the injuries at wide receiver. He went from "will he even make the roster" to potentially playing starter-level snaps. Funny how things change in a week.
We'll see if Hodge turns into anything more than relief during practice for the six or so receivers slated to make the roster.

NEW DELHI: Pakistan moved closer to a rare away Test win after reducing West Indies to 103/6 at stumps on Day 3 of the second and final Test. Despite West Indies holding a lead of 60 runs, the hosts have only four wickets left, giving Pakistan the upper hand heading into the fourth day.

West Indies ended the day on 103/6, leading by 60 runs with only four wickets remaining.

Pakistan will look to dismiss the remaining batters quickly on Day 4 and chase a modest target to secure their first away Test victory since 2023. West Indies, meanwhile, are aiming to complete a 2-0 series sweep after winning the opening Test by 90 runs.

Shafique's 160 helps Pakistan take first-innings lead

Pakistan began the day still behind West Indies' first-innings total of 344, but Abdullah Shafique produced a superb unbeaten 160 to guide his team to 387.

His innings helped Pakistan secure a 43-run first-innings lead before the visitors were bowled out.

Left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican starred for West Indies with six wickets for 112 runs. He cleaned up the Pakistan lower order after already removing key batters earlier in the innings.

Babar Azam's wait for Test hundred continues

Pakistan captain Babar Azam once again missed out on a Test century.

He was run out for 88 after a brilliant direct hit from Brandon King ended his 183-run partnership with Shafique. Pakistan were still trailing by 63 runs when the wicket fell.

Babar attempted a quick single after pushing the ball into the off side, but Shafique changed his mind and sent him back. King collected the ball and hit the stumps with a flat throw, leaving Babar short of his ground despite a desperate dive.

It was Babar's highest Test score in 35 innings, but he is still waiting for his first Test century since scoring one against New Zealand in Karachi in December 2022.

King injured after match-changing run-out

Brandon King's brilliant fielding effort came at a cost.

The West Indies batter injured his lower back after landing awkwardly while throwing down the stumps. He had to be taken off the field, and it remains unclear whether he will be able to bat on Day 4.

Warrican leads West Indies bowling attack

Warrican was the pick of the bowlers for West Indies.

He dismissed debutant Awais Zafar for 1 before Shamar Joseph trapped Salman Ali Agha lbw. Warrican then bowled Mohammad Rizwan for 18 with the second new ball and later finished the innings by taking three wickets in four deliveries to complete a six-wicket haul.

Pakistan strikes back with the ball

West Indies made a solid start to their second innings as Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Kavem Hodge added 40 runs for the opening wicket.

However, Pakistan's spinners quickly took control.

Sajid Khan removed Chanderpaul and Amir Jangoo before West Indies recovered through a partnership between Shai Hope and captain Roston Chase.

The Los Angeles Lakers had one of the NBA's busiest offseasons, losing 22-time All-Star forward LeBron James at the outset of free agency before replacing him with a hodgepodge of players they felt could complement superstar guard Luka Dončić.
While LA has exhausted most of its resources to appease Dončić, including making an all-in push for a high-level starting center, franchise icon Shaquille O'Neal doesn't see a viable path to the 2027 NBA championship.
Despite its strong 53-win finish to the 2025-26 season, LA's ******* le contention hopes were thwarted by Dončić's absence (hamstring) throughout the 2026 playoffs. The shorthanded squad was forced to put an excessive workload on 41-year-old James en route to a second-round sweep at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Lakers' inability to match up defensively against OKC and lack of complementary scoring options contributed to James seeking greener pastures in free agency. The four-time MVP announced his exit in late June, eventually opting to join the star-studded Philadelphia 76ers out East.
Looking to pick up the pieces, LA had significant money to work with this summer, with James' expiring $52.6 million contract coming off the books. Rob Pelinka and Co.'s biggest move came when they parted with unprotected first-round picks in 2031 and 2033 and first-round swaps in 2028 and 2030 to land restricted free agent big man Walker Kessler from the Utah Jazz on a four-year, $130 million contract.

Not much to write home about in this one. The ACL White Sox (15-38) didn’t muster a run until the fifth, when Osniel Castillo laced a leadoff triple and rehabbing Billy Carlson followed with an RBI single to center. The Sox tacked on one more in the seventh while trailing 9-1 as Adam Fogel worked a two-out walk before Marcelo Ácala ripped an RBI double to left. Too little, too late, though. Reinder Gomez was the only hurler to hold the Halos scoreless, tossing one frame and allowing just one hit and striking out one. Giving up nine runs is rarely a winning formula, and the offense didn’t do the pitching staff any favors, going just 2-for-8 with runners in scoring position while leaving 10 on base.
DSL Cubs Blue 6, DSL White Sox 4
The DSL White Sox (11-20) gift-wrapped this one with three fielding blunders and a passed ball, leading to three unearned runs. The White Sox did showcase some offense, though, as Ronald Cardozo cracked a solo shot in the fourth, and then the bats tried to rally in the seventh. Jose Suarez launched a two-run bomb, Hector Hernandez legged out a triple, and Dionys Medina dribbled an RBI grounder to plate three tallies. Unfortunately, the damage was already done — too many mistakes and just not enough late-game magic.
ACL White Sox 4, ACL Padres 3 (July 13 — 7 innings)
The ACL Sox trailed 3-1 to the Padres, then finally put up a crooked number in the fifth. Landon Hodge and Adam Fogel, patient enough to draw back-to-back walks, set the table. Jose Mendoza knocked a single to pack the sacks. The Padres’ pitcher promptly lost the plot with a wild pitch, and Hodge scored. Marcelo Ácala froze for strike three, but another wild pitch let Fogel trot home. Alejandro Cruz hit an RBI single for the go-ahead. Fidel Montero took it from there with four shutout innings, allowing just one hit and one walk.
DSL White Sox 2, DSL Cubs 0 (July 14, suspended, bottom of the first)
The Sox took control early in the top of the second. Fernando Graterol drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly before Sebastian Romero added an RBI single. It was Romero’s 34th RBI of the season, tied for sixth-most in the DSL, and gave the Good Guys a 2-0 lead.

NORTH SOUND, Antigua (AP) — Sri Lanka grew its lead to 281 runs in a bid to force an unlikely series-levelling victory against the West Indies on the fifth and final day of the second test on Tuesday.
Sri Lanka was 231-8 at lunch after adding a brisk 139 runs at a healthy rate of 5.79 an over in the morning session to its overnight score of 92-2.
Top-scorer Dinesh Chandimal led the visitors’ intent with 71 including four boundaries and two sixes before slicing a catch to backward point.

Campbell made 72 off 154 **** with nine fours and two sixes but holed out to mid-wicket close to lunch off Asitha Fernando's short ball to give Sri Lanka its breakthrough after West Indies had resumed on 58-1.
Kavem Hodge, who had plenty of dot **** and successfully overturned an lbw decision, stayed unbeaten on 25 off 114 **** with Amir Jangoo 8 not out at the interval.
West Indies, which has a 1-0 lead in the two-match series, trails heavily on a wicket which still looks perfect for batting and there's hardly any turn for Sri Lanka's premier spinner Prabath Jayasuriya.

The 35-year-old, who stands tied for third place on a tightly packed leaderboard heading into Sunday's final round of the John Deere Classic, sports a heavy red beard now. It looks like a lumbar jack's movie makeup for those who remember him as the youngster whose cherubic face seemed to match the Utah native's affable demeanor.
In his first couple of seasons on the PGA Tour, Blair got onto the leaderboard with some regularity, and 10 years ago he opened the season with a tie for third at the Sony Open in Hawaii.
That year, Blair made bigger headlines for banging his putter against his head at the Well Fargo Championship and being disqualified for using an altered piece of equipment. It would be another seven seasons before he eclipsed his previous best finish with a T-2 in the 2023 Travelers Championship.
He won the 2019 Ellie Mae Classic on the Korn Ferry Tour, but, mostly, Blair has lived on the edge of eligibility on the PGA Tour. SILVIS, Ill. (AP) — Lucas Glover chipped in for eagle early and made a birdie late, his only two sub-par holes Saturday for a 2-under 69 that was just enough for him to share the lead with Lee Hodges in the John Deere Classic that now has plenty of possibilities.
Hodges had four birdies in a six-hole stretch on the back nine of the TPC Deere Run for a 67 to join Glover at 16-under 197 going into the final round.
Nine players were within four shots of the lead, a group that ranges from 50-year-old Zach Johnson to NCAA champion Preston Stout of Oklahoma State.

LONDON (AP) — Host England was first into the Women's Twenty20 World Cup semifinals with a group match to spare after beating the West Indies by 38 runs at sweltering Lord's on Wednesday.
Both former one-time champions came to the matchup unbeaten, and Danni Wyatt-Hodge batted England out of reach with 65 off 42 ***** . Wyatt-Hodge is the tournament's leading run-scorer with 193, averaging 65.
The West Indies can still advance if it beats winless Ireland in its last group match on Saturday.
On the hottest June day on record in Britain the evening game started at 35 degrees C and an air temperature of 41 C, and England made an impressive 186-7, the highest women's T20 total at Lord's and the second highest by a men's or women's side.
No team has chased down 187 at a World Cup and West Indies was limited to 148-5. The required run rate was at 10 after only two overs and after 69-4 in the 11th over the team appeared to have no interest in attacking the target despite a sloppy fielding effort by England.

Before the 2018-19 season came to an end, the right-winger, the one who made his livelihood as an enforcer protecting his team’s best player and punishing whoever was across the ice, knew his playing career was coming to an end.
“More days behind you than ahead of you,” reminisced Stortini, the 40-year-old who was introduced Saturday as the first coach of the expansion New Mexico Goatheads, the East Coast Hockey League minor-league affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche at a fan event hosted by The Block in Rio Rancho.
Experience — 14 professional seasons of it — taught him that. From the parts of the six he spent in the NHL with the Edmonton Oilers and the Nashville Predators to the hodgepodge of American Hockey League stops that had him crisscrossing North America.
He spent time in Des Moines, Iowa; Milwaukee; Hamilton, Ontario; Springfield, Massachusetts; Oklahoma City; Norfolk, Virginia; Allentown, Pennsylvania; Birmingham, Alabama; San Jose; and Charlotte, North Carolina and countless other cities in between.

England Women have announced a 15-player squad for their one-off Test against India, which will mark the team's historic maiden women's Test match at Lord's Cricket Ground. The squad includes five uncapped players as England prepares for the landmark fixture.

Star all-rounder Alice Capsey is expected to make her Test debut against India. The right-handed batter has already represented England in 89 limited-overs internationals and is among the most exciting young talents in the women's game. Cricketing prodigy Tilly Corteen-Coleman is also in contention for a place in the playing XI, while Durham all-rounder Mady Villiers, Grace Potts and Ellie Threlkeld are the other uncapped players named in the squad.

England's current T20 captain, Nat Sciver-Brunt, has been named to lead the side for the historic encounter. However, her availability remains subject to fitness as she leads the T20 squad from the sidelines in the ongoing T20 World Cup with a calf strain. The four-day Test is scheduled to begin on July 10, just four days after the World Cup final.

Emma Lamb and Issy Wong also remain in contention for selection. Meanwhile, Sophia Dunkley, Danni Wyatt-Hodge and Ryana MacDonald-Gay are among the notable omissions despite featuring in England's most recent Test appearance against Australia at the MCG during the 2024-25 Women's Ashes.

Tammy Beaumont is another notable inclusion in the squad. The 35-year-old has yet to feature for England in any format.
"We have selected a strong Test squad under the leadership of Nat Sciver-Brunt for what will be another historic few days at Lord's for women's cricket," Clare Connor, the ECB's managing director of women's cricket, said.

"Test cricket is a rare and wonderfully challenging experience in the women's game and I know how proud our players are to represent England in this format. For the 11 women who will get the chance to be the first to enjoy that feeling at Lord's, it will be a moment to savour," she added.

Sporting Club Jacksonville women's soccer will switch to a spring-to-fall season along with the rest of the USL Gainbridge Super League beginning in 2027, with a shorter fall league to begin the transition this August.
The transitional fall season, reduced to eight teams after the Spokane Zephyr ceased competition in May, will kick off on August 15. Each team will play 14 games, seven at home and seven on the road, until the season's final date on Nov. 28.
Semifinals for the top four teams will be Dec. 5, followed by the championship match on Dec. 12. The Sporting Jax women reached the semifinals in their debut season at the University of North Florida's Hodges Stadium before losing to Carolina Ascent FC.
