UNM's men's and women's basketball teams will host a free-to-the-public Lobo Howl event in the Pit on Friday, Oct. 9.
The event has autograph signing opportunities, skills competitions and 3-point contests with both teams and the men's team also has a slam dunk contest, won last season by then true freshman and now returning sophomore point guard Uriah Tenette.
The 3-point contest last year was won by Kaia Foster, who is back for the women's Lobos roster, but has a broken left foot and will miss the beginning of the coming 2026-27 season. The Lobo men's player she beat in last year's final is also back: 2026 Mountain West Freshman of the Year Jake Hall.

On Sept. 27, the Bayada Regatta — one of the world's largest and longest-running rowing competitions for people with disabilities — is to return to Pennsauken.
The race is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Camden County Boathouse, located at 7050 N. Park Drive at Cooper River Park.Attendance and parking are free for spectators.

In life, you're either a red or a blue. **** nal vs. Chelsea is about as red vs. blue as they come. This will be the first meeting between Mikel Arteta and Xabi Alonso, notable because the pair are lifelong friends. They played on teams growing up together in Spain.
Both clubs have two wins from two to start the season. **** nal have done it with organization and defense, as you'd expect. They've not conceded a goal from either match (Hull City haven't conceded from three). Chelsea's attack has started the season quickly with seven goals scored from their opening two matches. They've also conceded five over those games, looking particularly vulnerable to crosses and set pieces.
Many expected new manager Xabi Alonso to setup his side to have plenty of the ball, as he did in previous coaching stops. Beleaguered FIFA president Gianni Infantino will resist resignation calls and stand for re-election for another term in 2027, the ruling football body said on Sunday.
"The FIFA president announced in April that he will stand for re-election in 2027. Of course, nothing has changed. Mr Infantino will be standing for re-election," a FIFA spokesperson said.
The statement came the day after Infantino declined to answer questions about his future when asked by reporters at the start of the Women's Under-20 World Cup in the Polish city of Katowice.
"There will be a lot to say, but there will be a right place and a right time to say this. It's not today, it's not here," he said.

The Monster Jam monster truck stunt show is back in Jacksonville. Eventgoers can expect big trucks doing big tricks all weekend long.
Typically, this event is held at Everbank Stadium, but because of the Stadium of the Future construction, it's been moved.
Truckloads of dirt were wheeled into Vystar, but the big wheels everyone is interested in are 12,000-pound monster trucks!
"There's nothing like taking a 12,000-pound truck and doing a backflip into a nose wheel combo or something crazy like that," said monster truck driver Tony Ochs.
The Saturday and Sunday event features driver competitions in three categories: Racing, 2 Wheel Skills and Freestyle. Some of the stunts include back flips and vertical two-wheel tricks.

Chelsea are approaching the final weeks of the transfer window with an unresolved question at their centre. Enzo Fernandez has been linked with a move to Manchester City throughout August, and the commercial logic of selling is not difficult to construct. What is considerably more difficult is justifying strengthening a direct rival at a moment when that rival's most glaring weakness is precisely the position Fernandez occupies.
Fernandez cost Chelsea €120 million in January 2023. He was bought to be the deep-lying conductor of a new-look midfield – the replacement for Jorginho, the organiser around whom creativity would flow. That vision has never been fully realised at Stamford Bridge, and the reasons why are well-documented.
Every manager Chelsea (7.04) has appointed since his arrival has struggled to make a Fernandez-Caicedo double pivot function out of possession. Fernandez is not physically built to cover large central ***** es. His defensive awareness is sharp enough for international soccer, where Lionel Scaloni's Argentina have found ways to manage around his limitations, but has never been sharp enough at club level to survive without significant structural support.
Enzo Maresca's solution last season was to move Fernandez into the left pocket, push a fullback deeper into the midfield beside Caicedo and slow Chelsea's possession game to keep the team compact. It improved the collective structure and allowed Fernandez to play his best soccer at Chelsea, scoring 15 goals across all competitions. But it came at a notable cost, most visibly, the significant dip in Cole Palmer's form.
Xabi Alonso is not going to replicate that approach. His 3-4-2-1 system places Morgan Rogers and Palmer as dual attacking midfielders behind the striker. That is precisely where Fernandez would be best utilised. But Chelsea paid £117 million for Rogers this transfer window to fill that exact role.
