Karen Attiah must be reinstated by The Washington Post and receive back pay after an arbitrator ruled the newspaper lacked sufficient cause to fire the opinion columnist over her social media posts following the ******* assination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Arbitrator Sarah Miller Espinosa found the Post "did not have good and sufficient cause" to terminate Attiah and failed to establish that she engaged in "gross misconduct," according to a decision obtained by The New York Times. Attiah was fired by the Post in September after posting about Kirk's killing on Bluesky.
"This decision confirms what we've said from the start: I was doing my job as an opinion writer, and this was wrongful termination," Attiah said in a statement, adding that she was "relieved to finally have that record set straight."
Attiah told the Times that she was "willing to go back" to the Post, which she called "one of the world's most storied newspapers." A Washington Post spokeswoman told the Times that the company respects the arbitration process and declined to comment further.
Attiah was fired after posting on Bluesky about the reaction to Kirk's ******* assination. In one post, she wrote, "Refusing to tear my clothes and smear ashes on my face in performative mourning for a white man that espoused violence is … not the same as violence."

Fan were hit hard when it was announced that actress Hayden Panettiere died at age at just 36 years old. Since then Ice Princess has been trending, as well as her iconic roles in projects like Heroes, Nashville, and the Scream movies (the latter of which are streaming with a Paramount+ subscription). But her interviews have also resurfaced, and I keep watching one where she talks about beauty and self-acceptance. Let's break it all down.
Ever since her passing, folks have been reminiscing about the late actor's acting legacy, as well as how Hollywood treated Panettiere. But tales about her talents and spirit are also trickling out, and People recently posted a clip from back in 2009 where Hayden spoke about self-acceptance. In her words:
I heard a saying once that really helped me. It was 'beauty's an opinion, not a fact.' And just to keep that in mind always helped me. And personally, I think the most beautiful things about people are their flaws. Isn't it a Natasha Bedingfield song 'A face without freckles is like a sky without the stars'?

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding is shaping up to be the pop culture event of the summer.
The couple is reportedly set to tie the knot over July 4 weekend, giving fans just enough time to debate every last detail — from the guest list and dress code to what may be the most important decision of all: their first dance song.
So we took the question to celebrities on red carpets and at events throughout the year: What should Taylor and Travis dance to when they take the floor as husband and wife?
Naturally, many stars argued that Swift should choose one of her own songs. "Love Story," "Lover" and "The Alchemy" all received votes, while one Speak Now favorite quietly emerged as a sleeper hit. But as creator Anna Sitar pointed out, there's one potential issue: A lot of Swift's love songs were inspired by other relationships. Is dancing to one of them romantic — or just a little weird?
Others used the opportunity to nominate themselves. Paula Abdul and New Kids on the Block pitched their own hits. Teddy Swims offered perhaps the most sincere suggestion of the bunch. The Beaches, meanwhile, made a compelling case for a Sisqó classic that would certainly keep the dance floor moving — and the rumored 1,000 guests with their jaws on the floor.
