Gabriel Milito's squad will return to training at Verde Valle to prepare throughout the week for the clash against the university side, which is scheduled to take place at Estadio AKRON, with the goal of maintaining its strong run of form and continuing to add points near the top of the Liga MX standings.

Through its effectiveness, game management and composure to hold onto the result, Chivas defeated Atlético San Luis 3-0 this afternoon at Estadio Libertad Financiera in Jornada 7 of the Apertura 2026. The team coached by Gabriel Milito has found consistency at the start of the second third of the tournament, reaching 14 points and temporarily moving into second place.
Guadalajara came out firing, as it already had a significant 0-2 lead before the 10-minute mark, thanks to the mobility of its players and the efficiency of its attackers in front of goal. Of course, this allowed the Rojiblancos to take control of the match.

Chivas goal scoring finally appeared in the Apertura 2026 when they defeated Tijuana by a 5-2 score. Chivas finally scored more than one goal in a Liga MX game during the season after they were able to convert their chances days after the news came that their top goal scorer, Armando Gonzalez, was transferred to Olympiakos in Greece. Tijuana came into the match tied in first place but they had a poor defensive display that Chivas took advantage of. Chivas will now travel south to face off against Pachuca while Tijuana returns home where they will host Pumas.
The 1st half started with a two hour and thirteen minutes rain delay. While the stadium crew did a huge effort to get the field in playable conditions, the field was drenched in a lot of areas. A good combination play ended with Efrain Alvarez getting the ball in the area but his left footed shot went wide. A left footed shot from outside the area by Santiago Sandoval was easily saved by Tijuana's goalkeeper, Jose Rodriguez. A back pass was badly fumbled by Rodriguez and left there for Ricardo Marin, who incredibly kicked the ball straight to Rodriguez in a terrible miss. Off a corner kick, the cross into the area was headed back by Luis Romo into the path of Santiago Sandoval, who headed the ball from close range past Rodriguez to score and give Chivas the early 1-0 lead. It was a deserved goal as Chivas had been the better team. Tijuana would try to answer back with a counter in which Ramiro Arciga got off a header that would be cleared off the line by Romo. Off another corner kick, the cross into the area was headed back by Diego Campillo into the path of Ricardo Marin, who headed the ball from close range past Rodriguez to score and increased the lead to 2-0. Pumas struggled at home in a 0-0 tie against Queretaro. After an improving start to the Apertura 2026, their terrible Leagues Cup participation seemed to have influenced their Liga MX campaign as they had trouble in a match they were favored to win. Queretaro has been one of the surprising teams in Liga MX and they had a good plan to counter Pumas, which paid off. Pumas will stay at home before taking on Necaxa on Sunday while Queretaro will also host but will have a tougher match when they face off against Toluca.
The 1st half started with Pumas taking the surprising decision of starting with Uriel Antuna to take the place of Alvaro Angulo, a strange move especially with Cristian Calderon on the bench. From outside the area, Adalberto Carrasquilla was given time and **** e to get off a great left footed shot that forced a wonderful save from Queretaro's goalkeeper, Guillermo Allison. The Pumas were contentiously denied a potentially match-tying try in the final minute of the clash in Santiago del Estero, with Bautista Delguy's score ruled out by referee Gardner in consultation with television match official Brett Cronan.
Albornoz had to be restrained by teammates after twice rushing over to Australian official Gardner in the aftermath.
The 28-year-old accepted his conduct, taken as a whole, was intimidatory but did not accept that his actions were abusive, insulting, offensive or threatening – a distinction which was accepted by both World Rugby and the disciplinary committee.
He has therefore been banned for four matches, including this weekend's encounter between Argentina and South Africa in Buenos Aires.

England won 31-24, holding on despite twice being reduced to 13 men. The referee issued seven yellow cards during the July 18 match and both teams were reduced to 13 at stages in the second half at Santiago del Estero, Argentina.
The committee on Wednesday said that contact with referee Angus Gardner, "although limited in nature, occurred while disputing a match official's decision and formed part of that overall course of intimidatory conduct."
It also found that Albornoz approached the referee on two separate occasions and had to be restrained by teammates.
Although the offense could carry a six-match suspension, the committee took into account Albornoz's early acceptance of the charge, private written apologies and his previously clear disciplinary record to reduce the ban to four games.

"It feels like a long time," Tuipulotu said. "It's important for us to get back on the field.

Finn Russell will not feature in Scotland's opening Nations Championship match of the summer series but could feature against South Africa, says head coach Gregor Townsend, who welcomes back Jonny Gray.
Fly-half Russell, 33, has not fully recovered from the calf injury that kept him out of the latter part of Bath's domestic campaign and was not considered for the match at Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes in Cordoba on Saturday (20:10 BST). The Scots face the Springboks in Pretoria on 11 July then Fiji at Murrayfield on 18 July.
Tom Jordan starts at 10 in Russell's absence, with Fergus Burke among the replacements.
Gray returns against the Pumas, having missed this year's Six Nations, while fellow lock Scott ***** s, 29, and prop Pierre Schoeman, 32, will win their 50th caps.
"Great for [Jonny Gray] to be back in the squad," said Townsend. "Since his move to Perpignan, he's played very well so his form's been rewarded with this opportunity. It's nice obviously nice that him and Scott ***** s are playing together.
