Alabama basketball has made two changes to Crimson Tide coach Nate Oats' support staff, including the return of a familiar face to Tuscaloosa.
Alex Accetta has been hired as director of program relations, per an announcement from UA on Thursday, September 3. Accetta previously worked with Alabama men's hoops from 2015 to 2022, starting as a student **** istant before becoming the program's operations coordinator in 2017 and director of operations in 2021. In 2022, she left Alabama for a guest experience role with the NBA's Dallas Mavericks.
The news of Accetta's hire comes shortly after she and Oats married on July 26, 2026.
Josh Pierre, meanwhile, moves from director of basketball operations to director of player development, inheriting the role once held by Christian Pino, who came with Oats from Buffalo and is now on Bryan Hodgson's staff at Providence as a recruiting coordinator.
Pierre has been at Alabama since 2022 after previous stops at Elon, Mississippi State and Arkansas State.

Tom O'Brien was a college basketball ***** istant at Bradley in 1967 when the opportunity arose to come back to coach at Cathedral, his alma mater.
O'Brien would leave a couple different times as coach, but never really did give up his connection to the school where he graduated from in 1949. O'Brien died on Aug. 17 at age 95.
"Tom had such a history with Cathedral, graduating from there and all the changes the school went through in good times and bad times, Tom was always part of it," said Steve Hodgson, who coached with O'Brien and then later succeeded him. "It goes even beyond that. There are so many families in the Catholic and Eastside community and people that I've heard from in the last week through Tom's passing that he touched."
O'Brien not only coached football, basketball and baseball at Cathedral, he later returned as a substitute and earned the nickname "Super Sub."
"Tom left a profound impact on Cathedral, both as a student and when he returned as an educator and coach," Cathedral shared on its social media accounts. "'Coach OB' coached football, basketball and baseball at Cathedral, leaving a lasting legacy on thousands of Cathedral students. During the final years of his tenure at Cathedral, he was affectionately known as 'Super Sub,' and students were always thrilled to see him walk through the classroom door."

Former Iceland striker Jon Dadi Bodvarsson has announced his retirement at the age of 34.
Bodvarsson scored four goals in 64 international appearances for Iceland and started the Euro 2016 match in which his country upset England 2-1 to advance to the quarter-finals, a result that led to Roy Hodgson's resignation.
The striker spent almost ten years in England, first at Wolves, and then Reading and Millwall, before a successful spell at Bolton between 2022 and 2024 where he scored 25 goals in 94 appearances.
He also played for Wrexham and Burton Albion before heading home to Iceland to return to his first club Selfoss.
Bodvarsson said in a statement on social media: "I want to thank all my managers, coaches, players and staff members that I've been grateful enough to have met and worked with. It was great sharing the highs and lows of football with you."

PROVIDENCE — The on-court summer work is done. A three-day team retreat with a select group of Navy SEALs awaits next week.
Providence will scatter from there before the start of first semester, the last real extended break before its 100th men's basketball season. The Friars have answered a few questions and hope to address a few more before two exhibition games in October and the opener in November.
Dink Pate's eligibility, Leonardo Marangon's arrival from Italy, another possible roster addition and minor injuries that sidelined Ryan Mela and Samson Aletan for Thursday's session at the Ruane Friar Development Center all linger. Providence still has time to sort out any challenges before Bryan Hodgson makes his formal coaching debut against Maine at Amica Mutual Pavilion.
"I feel like we got better," Hodgson said. "We've got a great group of young men. We were able to install not only things on the floor, but our culture — how we want things to look."
Pate was a headline commitment for the program after three seasons in the G League, the last with the Westchester Knicks. The rangy shooting guard declined both two-way and 10-day contracts offered by parent club New York with the intention of preserving his college eligibility. The Friars expect a favorable ruling from the NCAA while nearing the end of the process to add Pate for 2026-27.

With less than a month to go until the start of the new season, Bristol City fans are again wondering if this is going to be our year for achieving promotion to England's top flight after an absence of 46 years.
There have been massive changes at the club over the past five months with a new CEO, the sacking of boss Gerhard Struber, Roy Hodgson's managerial swansong, the appointment of James Ellis as sporting director, the departure of playing legend Brian Tinnion as technical director and the arrival of Michael Skubala as manager.
Are fan expectations more elevated than they have been for a while as City approach their 12th successive Championship season? On balance I would say yes, even though the hierarchy at the club say this is the start of a three-year plan to achieve Premier League status.
My mildly positive view is based on the fact that City have done a lot of their transfer activity early rather than in the latter stages of the window.
First through the door was goalkeeper Sam Tickle from Wigan while former England Under-21 midfielder Sam Greenwood was signed for an undisclosed fee from Polish side Pogon Szczecin.

Jordan Henderson has etched his name into England's football history, becoming the first player to feature in four World Cups, yet his sights remain firmly set on glory in the knockout stages.
The 36-year-old midfielder achieved this milestone as a late substitute in Saturday's 2-0 victory over Panama, a result that confirmed England as Group L winners and set up a last-32 clash with DR Congo.
Henderson's World Cup journey began in 2014, a tournament where Roy Hodgson's squad exited at the group stage.
He subsequently played key roles in the runs to the semi-finals in 2018 and the quarter-finals four years later.
His role in this tournament has evolved, but he remains ready to do anything necessary to help England finally end 60 years of hurt.

Bristol City forward Sam Bell has signed a new three-year contract at the club.
The 24-year-old made his debut for the Robins in December 2020 and has gone on to make 99 appearances in the Championship.
After spending the first half of last season on loan at League One outfit Wycombe Wanderers, Bell returned to Ashton Gate on New Year's Day and was a success under interim head coach Roy Hodgson, scoring four goals in City's final four games of the campaign.
"I'm very happy to have got the deal done. I spoke to James [Ellis - Bristol City's new sporting director] first and he explained to me the desire to keep me at the club," Bell told the club website.
"I also had a good talk with the new manager [Michael Skubala] and he is a big part of the reason I wanted to stay here so much."
