BATON ROUGE, La. — Mother Nature wanted Lane Kiffin and LSU to sit for a little bit longer and think about what they've done. Kiffin and LSU responded by hanging a 51-10 score on Clemson. Litigation isn't all they're good at, as it turns out.
Yes, it's early September. Yes, LSU beat the orange off an overmatched Clemson squad that's unranked and yet still overrated. But after a Saturday night in Death Valley where LSU ran over Clemson on both sides of the ball, it's not too soon to declare that Kiffin's squad might just be for real, and a real problem for the rest of the SEC.
"Imagine if we had pro players," Kiffin told ESPN's Holly Rowe as he left the field at halftime, and how you view that statement — proudly defiant or infuriatingly smug — probably depends on whether you live in the state of Louisiana. Kiffin delivered the line after LSU put the finishing touches on a half in which they'd outscored Clemson by 28 points, rushing for 213 yards and 21 first downs while holding Clemson to a net minus-4 yards and a single first down.
Matters didn't get any better for Clemson in the second half even after a desperation quarterback change. LSU, meanwhile, grew more confident in real time. The patchwork collection of transfers and new staff answered the most serious question facing LSU by working as an actual team, leaving the 10 ½-point spread far behind.
Kiffin always manages to whip everything around him into a frenzy, and late on Saturday afternoon, that included the skies as well as the rest of college football. For a few minutes there around 6 p.m., it sure looked like the Almighty had a problem with the way that Louisiana State University has been handling business lately.

The Miami Dolphins drafted 13 rookies from this past April's NFL Draft. Hitting nearly every area of need, general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan had a clear vision of adding certain types of players both offensively and defensively. While many judge performance on the almighty stat, one rookie could become an extremely valuable player immediately for Miami and showed why on Friday night against the Washington Commanders.
Third-round pick (No. 87 overall) tight end Will Kacmarek, from Ohio State, was met with certain shock by many within the Dolphins community. However, when looking at the trend of NFL teams selecting blocking tight ends lately, Kacmarek is arguably one of the best in the 2026 class.
That blocking ability was on display Friday, as Kacmarek did his job very effectively against the Commanders. In a great breakdown on social media, Kacmarek showed why he was selected as a top-90 player.
As Sullivan indicated when becoming Miami's general manager, his goal was to add a tough and physical identity to the Dolphins. He told South Florida reporters his job is to give head coach Jeff Hafley, "the kind of guys that want to chase championships, that are selfless, that are mentally and physically tough, who have a burning desire to be the best football players that they can be."
Sullivan hit the nail on the head here, and after he drafted Kacmarek, he told the media, "His teammates are going to follow him, and he brings a physicality and a toughness to his craft that I think is unmatched."

Rihanna got to share a full-circle moment with her children in her home country of Barbados recently.
The singer posted photos of her and her three kids with A$AP Rocky — RZA, 4, Riot Rose, 3, and Rocki Irish, 11 months — visiting a street named after her in her old neighborhood.
"One minute I feel like that kid from Westbury…the next minute I'm bringing my own kids back to 'Rihanna Drive,'" she wrote on X. "Trippy how life works! And the Glory STILL and WILL ALWAYS belong to the Almighty Creator!!!"
The street was officially named after Rihanna in 2017 and has since become a tourist attraction. The green and yellow house where Rihanna grew up is located there.
The Visit Barbados website says of the street, "This is the place where an icon was born; a backstreet located on the outskirts of Bridgetown. It's tucked away from the bustling traffic of the Mighty Gryner Highway and an earshot from the shoreline."

Lauren Graham has been known to play an advice-giving single mom on-screen, but her thought-provoking insights extend to her personal life, too. The actor was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on March 16, 1967, growing up in Virginia with her single father. She earned a degree in English Literature from Barnard College in 1988 before earning a MFA in acting from Southern Methodist University.

Otherwise, you might recognize the celeb from projects such as "Because I Said So" and "Evan Almighty."
In addition to expanding her career into the realm of production, Graham is also a published author. She made her debut with the novel "Someday, Someday, Maybe" in 2013, while she's also published several memoirs and essay collections filled with humor and heart. Former unified heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr has joined forces with Matchroom Boxing in his latest effort to reignite his start-and-stop career.
"I'm so happy and thankful for signing with Matchroom and taking other step forward to continue my mission and to become a two-time champion of the world for Mexico," said Ruiz Jr. "I believe everything happens for a season and I'm so grateful God is giving me a second opportunity to do everything right. Sometime God breaks you to make you a better person and a better fighter.
"I made history with Matchroom and the DAZN and best believe we are going to do it again in God almighty's name, amen baby, let's go!
"Thank you to all my coaches for still believing in me, we are going to make a big statement in the Heavyweight division."
Ruiz (35-2-1, 22 KO) has fought just three times since falling to Anthony Joshua in their 2019 rematch, going unbeaten but struggling to recapture his earlier form. He hit the deck early against a faded Chris Arreola, settled for a tight decision over Luis Ortiz despite three knockdowns, then fought Jarrell Miller to a majority draw two years ago. Though he's back with Manny Robles for this one, he's also 36 and notoriously volatile, so there's no telling whether he'll be a factor in the post-Usyk heavyweight world.

FIFA World Cup
Argentina 3 - 2 Egypt FT
Argentina survived another almighty scare before delivering a scarcely believable second-half comeback to break Egypt hearts and reach the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup.
The reigning world champions - sent to extra time by Cape Verde in the last round - had looked set for a shock exit against the Pharaohs, who led 2-0 thanks to goals from Yasser Ibrahim and Mostafa Zico.
But Cristian Romero halved the deficit 11 minutes from time before Lionel Messi – who had missed a first-half penalty in Atlanta – equalised five minutes later and set up a nail-biting finish.

Thomas Tuchel called for consistency following FIFA’s “strange” decision to effectively overturn United States striker Folarin Balogun’s red card on a day when the England boss was annoyed by some decision-making in Mexico.
Despite being sent off against Bosnia and Herzegovina, the US striker has been cleared to play in Monday’s last-16 tie against Belgium after the FIFA Disciplinary Committee announced it would suspend his one-match ban for a year.
That development sent shockwaves around the football world, with Belgium head coach Rudi Garcia likening the ruling to “April Fool’s Day” as the “astonished” Belgian Football ****** ociation confirmed it was considering its options.
US President Donald Trump thanked FIFA for “reversing a great injustice” that has opened an almighty can of worms on a day that ended with England securing a 3-2 win against Mexico despite the VAR’s involvement in two big second half moments.
Jarell Quansah’s sending off and a Mexico penalty resulted from those interventions, with head coach Tuchel saying: “In the game this was not even given a foul, so the referee obviously also thought that it’s a hard tackle but it was OK for him to let it play,

Three draws against Spain, Saudi Arabia and Uruguay were a strong return and enough to advance in second from Group H – can they cause an almighty shock here?

Co-hosts Mexico meet England at the Azteca in Mexico City on Sunday, with an almighty scrap expected for a spot in the quarterfinals.
WATCH — Mexico v England, en Espanol
Javier Aguirre's side have won all four of their games at the 2026 World Cup without conceding a goal, breezing through the group stage and then sailing past Ecuador in the last 16. Mexico's fans are fully behind their team and will create an incredible atmosphere as they know this will be their final game of the World Cup on home soil no matter what happens.
England have huffed and puffed their way through this tournament, as they usually do, and (as usual) they have Harry Kane to thank for bailing them out. Trailing DR Congo 1-0 late on in their Round of 32 game, Thomas Tuchel's side looked to have run out of ideas as they came up against yet another stubborn defense and a goalkeeper playing out of this world. Then Kane popped up with two late goals to send them into the last 16. They can improve at the back and their fluidity isn't great, but Tuchel is finding ways to drag them along.
Kick off time: 8pm ET Sunday (July 5)
Venue: Estadio Azteca — Mexico City, Mexico
TV Channel: Telemundo
Streaming: Stream live on Peacock, en Espanol

Jannik Sinner survived an almighty scare as he began his Wimbledon ******* le defence with a five-set comeback victory over inspired opponent Miomir Kecmanovic on Centre Court.
One month on from a seismic second-round loss at the French Open, four-time major winner Sinner recovered from an error-strewn start and an awkward fall to overcome his 50th-ranked opponent 4-6 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 6-2 6-3 after a tense three and a half hours.
Sinner opted against contesting a grass tournament in the lead-up to Wimbledon, with this his first match since an extraordinary collapse against Argentine Juan Manuel Cerundolo, whom he had led by two sets and 5-1 at Roland Garros.
Having appeared to physically shut down in the stifling Paris heat that day, Sinner's durability was thoroughly tested by Kecmanovic, and he was fortunate to escape relatively unscathed after a moment of genuine concern inside the stadium court.
There were gasps in the crowd when Sinner slipped behind the baseline during the third set and took time to return to his feet, the umpire heading over to check on his wellbeing.

It was a strangely unsatisfying, unedifying way to end one of the great Test careers.
Ben Stokes’s retirement was announced over loudspeakers at Trent Bridge in the midst of an almighty 11-over spell of bowling, and the attention shifted away from New Zealand’s deserved series victory to England’s captain. Stokes received guards of honour and later opened the batting, flailing for sixes, swinging at the sun. It was like the game had descended into a one-man ego trip, as if Stokes might perform the “Siuuu” at any moment.
If Stokes’s 30 off 20 ***** set the tone for England’s fourth-innings chase, then that tone was self-sabotage. England abandoned all sense. It was 6pm in Nottingham and Stokes had ushered in the last days of Rome, headless bloodlust, Test cricket depravity, Harry Brook debauching the ball to fine leg – leading Michael Vaughan to describe his effort as “an absolutely pathetic Test match innings”. In doing so, Brook made a compelling case for not being Stokes’ successor.
That bizarre finale – has a cricketer ever retired between overs before? – will not diminish what Stokes achieved for England. The numbers might not sound stratospheric: a bowling average of 31; a batting average of 34, in line with Ollie Pope. Then again, only one other player, Jacques Kallis, has surpassed both 7,000 Test runs and 250 wickets.
But Stokes didn’t play cricket by numbers. His famous Headingley innings alongside the obdurate Jack Leach in 2019 was a moment of eternal sport and national meaning not because he scored 135 runs but because of how it felt to watch every agonising ball, how it defied all logic. His gift was to make every England fan place their faith in the improbable, the unfathomable, the previously untouchable. Then he went out and proved they were right to believe.
